Review: Holika Holika Jewellight Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

5. July 2014
Holika Holika Jewellight Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

Here is another product review from Holika Holika. This time I’m showing you Holika Holika’s Jewellight Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. I reviewed previously the Holika Holika Jewellight Pencil Eyeliner, and like this, the Jewellight Liquid Eyeliner contain shimmering particles. I usually preferr liquid eyeliner over pencil type eyeliner, so I was curious how this eyeliner would perform, esoecially since I never tried a liquid eyeliner from Holika Holika.

Holika Holika Jewellight Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

Holika Holika is a korean brand with a magic like brand image. The products are designed to look pretty, and magical in their way. The Holika Holika Jewellight Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner has a simple, but girly design, with some ornament lines looking like jeweles or stars. There are 5 different shades available. I’m reviewing color 01 called black gem. The other colors available are brown, olive, purple and pink.

Holika Holika Jewellight Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

The Holika Holika Jewellight Waterproof Liquid Eyeliners claim to be pigmented and shimmering, moreover they are waterproof andare supposed to hold up against sweat, sebum and humidity. The cap of the eyeliner includes a brush with a fine tip.

Holika Holika Jewellight Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

The consistency of the liquid eyeliner is a bit watery. You have to shake it well, otherwise the pigmentation is weak. I expected the color to be blacker honestly. Also the glitter particles don’t spread evenly and when dried up, they can be the cause of cracking. Other than that the eyeliner is waterproof. It is also rubb proof as long as you don’t use water and rubbing together. In that case the eyeliner comes of in chunky bits.

Holika Holika Jewellight Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

All in all, if you like lighter eyeliners and you like glitter particles, you might like this product. If you preferr more pigmented eyeliners like I do, you won’t be statisfied here. I have to point out that the advantage of these liquid eyeliners from Holika Holika is, that they are really waterproof. It is also easy to remove the eyeliner simply by combining rubbing and water together. These eyeliners are cheap, too. They cost around 9 US$ from testerkorea.

Review: Laneige Waterbank Eye Gel

28. June 2014

Today’s review will be on Laneige’s Waterbank Eye Gel, a gel type eyecream claiming to be extra moisturizing. Laneige has a whole skincare line named “Waterbank” for moisturizing skin. I had a couple of samples for this cream and here is the impression this eye cream left to me.

Laneige_WaterbankEyeGel_1

The main color of this line is blue, therefore the fullsize product comes in a blue colored jar. The fullsize contains a spatula, too, in order to be able to leave the product in the jar as hygienic as possible. I don’t know how much product is contained in each sample sachet but each sachet had enough eye cream to be used a couple of days, since you only need a tiny bit for the skin around your eyes.

Laneige_WaterbankEyeGel_3

This eyecream claims to be moisturizing and also vitalizing. The ingredients list is quite long, but most of them are green flaged according to COSDNA. The sample sachet contained ingredients in English, and also the directions were in English, which is great.

Laneige_WaterbankEyeGel_2

As to the consistency of the eye cream: it is a milky gel type cream, which reminds of a balm. Also the feeling of the gel is more like a balm, than a gel/cream. As soon as it is worked into the skin, it feels like turning into water. It feels moisturizing and refreshing on the same time, while absorbing fast into the skin. Also the moisturizing effect stays for the whole day. I had the feeling my eye area was still hydrated at the end of the day, when I applied the cream in the morning ♥  The scent is the typical scent you might know from Laneige. It is fresh and soapy, without being to strong and irritating.

Laneige_WaterbankEyeGel_4

All in all, I didn’t expect this cream to be such a good moisturizer, but it is! I love the effect and how the effect is still noticeable at the end of the day. If you are looking for a really good moisturizing eye cream, then I would recommend you to buy Laneige Waterbank Eye Gel. The only downside is, that it is a bit expensive, since it is from Laneige. But since one does not need a lot of eyecream per day, I think that the fullsize jar will go a long way until it is empty. I’m seriously thinking of buying the jar as soon as I have finished my other opened eyecreams. You can buy Laneige Waterbank Eye Gel at ebay for around 40 US$.

Review: Dream Eye Black Snowflake Contact Lenses

25. June 2014
I reviewed Dream Eye circle lenses/coloured lenses by SpookyEyes a while ago already and here is the third pair I received for reviewing.  It is called Dream Eye Black Snowflake Contact Lenses. It is mainly the name which made me curious to try, because it sounds somehow mysterious, doesn’t it? You can find my previous review on the Brown Star Glow contact lenses here and on Hazel Iris Circle lenses here.
Dream Eye Black Snowflake Contact Lenses

Dream Eye Black Snowflake Contact Lenses

You don’t know Dream Eye, yet? Dream Eye is a Korean, FDA approved circle lens manufacturer. These yearly lenses don’t come in the typical vial, but in a standard paper card packaging. The design is simple and it looks similar to the packaging of normal contact lenses that you’ll receive from your eyes doctor. Each package is labelled by a sticker where the product number and the details like prescription, expiration date, diameter and curve radius are written on (the expiration date is meant for the unopened contact lenses of course). Inside of the box you’ll find the two lenses, each packed separately in a plastic container. The inside of the paper card box contains the description and usage of the contact lenses and is very thoroughly.

Dream Eye Black Snowflake Contact Lenses

Dream Eye Black Snowflake Contact Lenses

On SpookeyEyes you’ll find the following description for the lenses:

Our Black Snowflake Contact Lenses will light up your eyes and add drama to your look. These circle lenses have a beautiful snowflake design that enhances your natural eye color instead of covering it up. The black outline intensifies your eye color and makes the whole eye seem bigger. They look incredible and really draw attention to your eyes. Dream Eyes Contact Lenses are high quality fashion contact lenses. They are soft and breathable, with a high water content that makes them very comfortable to wear. These brown&hazel color contact lenses keep your eyes feeling hydrated and comfortable all day long. They are easy to use and clean, working in complete harmony with your eyes.

Diameter : 14.5 mm
Base Curve : 8.6 mm
Life Span : 1 Year Disposal
Water Contact: 42 %
Dream Eye Black Snowflake Contact Lenses

Dream Eye Black Snowflake Contact Lenses

This is how the lenses perform:

Design:
The design really looks like a snowflake. The outer circle of the lens is dark brown/black and the snowflake pattern helps to blend in with your natural eye color. The dark color also helps to give your eyes an enlargement effect. I thought the snowflake pattern would be more visible on my eyes, but it simply blends in and looks super natural, although making your eyes larger on the same time.

Comfort:
The wearability was good. I could wear them on work and only after 5-6 hours I had to use eye drops, so the lenses are comfortable.

Enlargement:
As I said, the black/darker color makes your eyes appear deeper and larger on the same time. The enlargement doesn’t look unnatural though, because the color blends in nicely with dark brown eyes.

Shipping:
SpookeyEyes offers free shipping internationally which is really great! I didn’t have any problems with the delivery either. Thanks again!

Here is how the lenses look on my eyes. Keep in mind that I have brown eyes naturally. The lenses might look different on brighter eyes.

Dream Eye Black Snowflake Contact Lenses

I like these lenses as naturally enhancing lenses. They make brown eyes look deeper and larger.Nevertheless, the snowflake pattern didn’t show up, which is also a bit sad, because the promised mysterious look is not really visible. Nevertheless, other than this, these are nice lenses which beautify your eyes. If you like these lenses check out SpookeyEyes and have a look through their wide range of contact lenses. These lenses cost 27.95 US$.

Did anybody else try the Dream Eye lenses? What is your opinion about these lenses?

Review: Kose Visee Glossy Rich Eyeshadow Palette No.3

25. May 2014

If I would pick a favourite for this month it would definitively be the Kose Visee Glossy Rich Eyeshadow Palette that I’ve bought recently. As some of you might know, Kose is a Japanese cosmetic brand with various subbrands. Visee is one of their subbrands, having a couple of nicely designed makeup products. I love the colors and I love the design of this mini palette and- most important- I used it so often already, although I’m normally not wearing eyeshadows a lot. But this cute palette sweept me off my feet. I’m not an expert in eyeshadow reviewing, and I’m sure there are other eyeshadows with a excellent quality, but never the less I would like to share my opinion about it. ♥

visee_glossyricheyes_1

A lot of people will understand why I fell for this packaging design. It is super elegant and yet playfull. I love the ornamented lid so much ♥ The brandname is written in a curly font on the lid, too. The fabricant plastic is of standard quality. It is glossy, so you’ll see fingerprints on it easily. The palette comes in a hard plastic packaging with description written on it. Unfortunately all the description is written in Japanese, but there is an image on the backside showing how to use the colors together.

visee_glossyricheyes_5

Let’s take another look at the beauty: The imprint on the eyeshadows is so beautiful ♥

visee_glossyricheyes_2

Kose Visee’s Glossy Rich eyes are available in 8 different palettes. My palette is No. 3 and it has  a rose/burgundy Theme. The palette consists of four eyeshadow colors which can be used together nicely. A small applicator  with two sides is provided, too, but no mirror.

visee_glossyricheyes_3

The pigmentation of the colors is nice and visible. They contain tiny shimmer particles. The brightest color on the top left is the base color providing the glow. The eyeshadows are soft when applied and are easily blendable. The pigmentation is buildable to a certain degree, too. Below you can see how the eyeshadows look on me:

visee_glossyricheyes_4

You can create nice looks with this palette and the colors are really wearable for every day look. But they also can be used for a romantic look. I really love how easy they are to blend and how soft the eyeshadow powder feels. The shimmer is not too extreme either. After a couple of uses unfortunatelly the nice imprint on the shadows dissapears and a little fall off from the eyeshadows lies inside the lid, but all in all these are minor points. I’ll definitively keep my eyes out for other Kose Visee products in future. This was my first time trying this brand, but not my last :D I bought my palette at Ichibankao for 2050 Yen which makes around 20 US$

Review: Etude House Play 101 Pencils No. 10,11,22

23. May 2014

// KBEAUTY / MAKE UP / AFFILIATE LINKS //

Since the YouTube video by Pony showing makeup tutorials using Etude House’s newest release, the Etude House Play 101 Pencils, everybody seemed to be curious about them. The tutorials show, how to create different makeup looks, by simply using these new pencil liners by Etude House. 50 different colors were released for this new multipurpose product. I couldn’t resist buying three of them, although I really want to cut down on buying until I’ve used most of my products…but all these new releases do tempt me so much XD.

I decided to limit myself to three of these pencils, because otherwise I would have spend to much money again :D It was so hard to decide, since there are so many colors and there are different types, too. You can choose between matte, creamy, glossy, glitter and shimmer pencils. I ended up choosing these three friends: No.10, 11 and 22. My idea was to get one color suitable for contouring (10), one suitable as a blush (11) and one for the lips (22). You can use these pencils for many different things and not only as eyeliner, but also as blush, lip stain, eyeshadow or eyebrow pencil.

No. 10 is supposed to be a matte pencil, No. 11 is labelled creamy and No. 22 has glossy properties. All the pencils are delivered in a paper card box, each card box shaded in the color of the pencil. The corporate design is playful and contains typical ornaments, as we are used from Etude House. The number of the pencil is written in different styles on the package. The font size of the number is quite large, so you know directly which number to pick.

The paper card box also contains the description of the pencils. The Korean description is printed on the backside. I love the tiny sketch of the pencil sharpener in the speech balloon on the bottom part of the descriptions. ♥ I didn’t even know that a sharpener was included, so I was more than happy :) The English description is written on one of the sides of the box:

“This is a gel-type pencil that comes with vivid colors and various textures for easy and fun makeup play.
Directions:
Twist to dispense certain amount and use on desired area. Close cap after use. When using sharpener, insert lead and sharpen while turning slowly.”

The pencils themselves are made of black plastic with a protective cap on one side and the sharpener on the other side. The sharpener has the color of the pen, which is quite convenient if you store the pencils in a jar or similar.
The pencils have the name written on them on the one side, whereas the other side contains some Korean description again (do round pencils have a side at all?!:D).
The bottom of the pencils is again marked with the number of the pencil and an arrow indicating the part which is twistable, in order to dispense the product.
Now, the interesting part: how do the pencils perform? Below you can see the colors of the pencils tips and the included sharpener. It is tiny, so it can be used on the pencil bullet only. It won’t sharpen the pencil like a normal sharpener would and remove the plastic part of the pencil.
I swatched the three pencils on my hand with one normal swatch and one blended swatch. You can see the colors of the swatches with and without flash below. Comparing the colors to the promotional pictures, they don’t look the same. I thought No.10 and 22 would be darker and No. 11 more coral than orange. Nevertheless they are nice colors.

The only color I wished would have been different is No. 10 actually, because I thought it is slightly darker, so I could have used it for contouring or as eyeshadow. The beige color is too light to show up on my skin tone. I can use it as base color for eye shadows or for slightly retouching eye bags, but the matte consistency of the pencil makes it a bit difficult for the thin skin under the eyes. Other than this, all pencils glide smoothly on the skin. No. 11 is a nice blush color, which is not too intense and will look quite natural. My favourite is the No. 22, definitively. I thought it would be a darker shade, but nevertheless I love this shade a lot. It is perfectly usable on lips and doesn’t look flaky or drying (it is not moisturizing, but it does not dry your lips either), and as promised by the label it has a glossy finish. I tried to use No. 11 on my lips, too, but it did not work out and looked patchy and drying.

So, what is my conclusion for Etude House’s Play 101 Pencils? I would definitively recommend trying them. As for the Play Nail polishes from Etude House it might turn out that you like the one or the other shade more, but still it is great to have such a huge selection of different colors, which can be combined in different ways. It’s a pity that the promotional pictures are not 100% like the real product– and unfortunately, there is no local Etude House store here in Germany, so I could have tested the colors before deciding which one to buy. But nevertheless I’m happy with my choice and I could imagine to buy other shades, too. The price is okay, keeping in mind the nice packaging and the included sharpener.
You can get these pencils at W2Beauty for 6.00 US$.

I didn’t rate the ingredients, because each color has different ones :)

Review: Fairydrops Platinum Mascara Film Type

12. May 2014
I love my Etude House Lash Perm 3 Step Volumescara (review >>here<<) and it is one of my favourite mascaras for everyday use. Nevertheless, I want to try other mascaras, too, especially since there is a wide range of Japanese mascaras which have a good reputation. Fairydrops is one of these brands I was especially curious about. The Platinum Mascara was receiving lots of good reviews, so it was my first choice in the end. And I don’t regret that decision :)

This mascara is a film type fiber mascara, which is supposed to volume and curl your lashes and make them look longer on top. This sounds like everything one needs when looking for a good mascara. The mascara and its packaging are really pretty. The colors of both of them are mainly golden, with black symbols/ornaments all over. I really do like the packaging.

I read that the main ingredients of the mascara are moisturizing, which is great. Unfortunately the product description and the ingredients are only written in Japanese, so I couldn’t translate them. :/
The wand of this mascara is curved and consists of three rounded parts. This helps to catch all the lashes, even the smaller ones.
The effect of the mascara is clearly visible in the pictures below. My lashes are curved and look longer and denser at the same time.

I love this mascara as much as I love the one from Etude House. Its also super easy to remove because it is a film-type mascara. I’m completely happy! The only downside is, that it is quite expansive. I bought mine at AdamBeauty for around 18 US$, but the price can go up to 25 US$ depending on were you order.

Review: Dueba Crystal.i Grey Circle Lenses

9. May 2014

It’s been a long time since my last circle lens review, but today I’ll show you another pair of lenses, Dueba Crystal.i Grey, which were send to be by Lensvillage. If you’d like to read about my opinion on these lenses please feel free to continue reading :D Also, I finally managed to sign up for a proper Email subscription list. I’d be happy if you’d join it :) You can find the link on the right side of my blog.

The lenses came in a cute vial with a comic drawing on it. I received a cute animal lens case together with these lenses. This time I received a grey hippo lens case, which I don’t had until know ^_^ Yeiii!

These lenses are also available in other colors like blue, green, brown, pink and violet. Here are the properties for the lenses:

Diameter : 14.2 mm
Water Content : 38%
Base Curve : 8.6 mm
Life Span : 1 Year Disposal

Design:
The design is very simply and only consists of black and grey dots. It is nothing special, but looks nice with dark eyes, although I’d wish that it blended in more towards the inner part.

Comfort:
These lenses were a bit uncomfortable, because after one hour I discovered that my eyes feel dried. But when using eye drops you can extend the wearing time.

Enlargement:
Enlargement is clearly visible, but it doesn’t look unnatural. All in all this is in my eyes the perfect size for my eyes, making them pop out but not looking like an alien on the same time.

Shipping:
I received my lenses with standard shipping and it arrived after 3-4 weeks. This is not the fastest shipping I experienced with standard shipping, but neither the slowest. The lenses were packed securely in bubble wrap plastic and they came with a cute animal shape lens case.

Despite that these lenses were a bit uncomfortable I could wear them on my work. The design is simple, but it shows a nice enlargement of the eyes. I personally prefer more comfy lenses, but these are not that bad as you can see from my total rating below.

You can buy these lenses at Lensvillage for US$ 19.50. Check out the facebook page, too: https://www.facebook.com/lensvillage

Just as a short reminder: All products mentioned and reviewed on this blog are of my personal opinions. This product here was sent to me for reviewing purpose by www.lensvillage.com, which doesn’t influence me in providing my honest opinion on the products.

Review: Holika Holika Jewel-Light Waterproof Eyeliner No. 07

6. May 2014

// KBEAUTY / MAKe UP / AFFILIATe LINKS //

Today’s review is about Holika Holika Jewel-light Waterproof Eyeliner No.07. With Etude House’s Play 101 pencil liners coming up now it may be interesting to have another set of good pencil liners in the back of your head, especially if you like pencil liners with glitter particles. I received this one in the Lunar New Year Giveaway by Tiffany, Misa and Maryangela (check out their blogs by clicking on their names!:D). Thanks again to all three of them for the nice products!♥

There are 16 shades available in total and each of them does contain shimmer/glitter. The pencils have a simple design, each of them in the color of the eyeliner, so you can grab easily your desired color. The pencils are made of soft plastic, which can be sharpened easily. The eyeliners don’t contain a sharpener themselves, but any usual sharpener works.

The eyeliner I received has a white shimmering color which is nice for highlightening. It is supposed to be smudge proof, waterproof and long lasting and it fulfills all these criteria as you can see in the image below. Only with rubbing and warm water together it starts to give in.
The ingredients don’t contain anything harmful, even hydrogenated castor oil, which may cause acne, is nothing to worry about, since you don’t use this product on your whole face (hopefully :D – it won’t look pretty).

Cyclomethicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Mica, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Polyethylene, Ceresin, Titanium Dioxide(Ci 77892), Silica, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Hydrogenated Castor Oil

All in all there is nothing negative to say about this pencil eyeliner. It applies smoothly, it is pigmented and it is smudge- and waterproof. Even the price is good ;)

You can get these at:
Twofacemall for US$ 8.05 ( free shipping option)

W2Beauty from US$ 7.52 onwards (free shipping option. You’ll get a 5$ voucher upon registration with this link, which is usable for orders of minimum 30$)

Review: Wish Formula Panda Eye Essence Mask

18. April 2014
I love using eye masks, when I feel my eyes are tired and I recognise puffiness around my eye area. The cooling sensation directly makes me feel relieved. Since there are a lot of those eye masks, I’m currently trying several different ones. That is how I stumbled upon Wish Formula Panda Eye Essence Mask from Wishtrend.

This eye mask comes in a black sachet with a cute panda bear on it smiling at you :D. The ingredients are written on the front directly, and in English, too. Each sachet contains two eye masks, one for each eye.
Here are the ingredients of the eye mask:
water, ascorbic acid, saccharomyces, Viscum Album (Mistletoe) Ferment extract, butylene glycol, saccharomyces/Imperata cylindrica Root ferment extract, sodium lactate, lactobacillus/soybean ferment extract, black strap powder, arbutin, 1,2-Hexanediol, bacillus ferment, centella asiatica extract, aspergillus/Saccharomyces/Glycyrrhiza uralensis root extract ferment filtrate, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, xanthan gum, arginine, tocopherylacetate, backhousia citriodora leaf oil, adenosine, honey, phenoxyethanol
The ingredients are really nice and no harmful ingredients are contained. Yeast fermented extracts are one of the main ingredients. Also, it contains Vitamin C and vitamin E. You can check the ingredients on COSDNA >>here<<. On the back side of the sachet the instructions are written on Korean only, but the image of how to wear the eye mask are sufficient enough for using the mask.
This eye mask is supposed to hydrate the skin around your eyes and provide nourishment with different extract in order to prevent the skin from aging effects. As soon as you open the package you should use it right away, so that the vitamin C does not oxidise. The color of the essence is yellow. The eye mask sheets are not separated by an additional plastic foil but stick together. The sachet also contains a quite amount of leftover essence. I used the leftover essence by its own the days after using the mask itself.
The eye mask delivers a proper amount of moisture for the skin around the eye area. Also, it gives you a cooling sensation, especially if you keep it in the refrigerator before. After using it my eyes look less tired and puffy. Since the ingredients are really nice and the effects of both vitamin C and yeast fermented extract are known, I’m sure, that these eye masks will show some kind of longterm effect (see my review on OST Vitamin C serum if you are interested >>here<<). I really want to try more of these eye masks. You can get these masks from Wishtrend for 2.99 US$ each or in a box with 10 sachets for 18.99 US$. If you are not yet registered on Wishtrend you can use the promo code 17939205 or my invite link to receive a 5 US$ coupon before making your first purchase.

As you can see I’ve changed my rating system. I’m using a scale of 10 points for the categories design, application, ingredients, hygiene, effect and price. The average points build total rating. Hope you like this way better than it was before :)

Review: Etude House Bling Bling Eyestick No. 9 “Gold Tail Star”

28. January 2014
I’m not wearing eyeshadow often, simply because I’m too lazy in the morning to spend to much time on it. That’s also the reason I like eyeshadow sticks and pencils a lot. They are easily and quick to use and you can add some glow to your eyes and it makes you look more awake. Etude House’s Bling Bling Eyesticks are an example for easily to use eyeshadow sticks. They are available in 6 different colors. I bought this stick in a shade called “Gold Tail Star” at www.keautystore.com.

The packaging is compared to Etude House’s normally very girly packaging not really special. The color of it is simply black, with the name of the stick written on it. It has a simple cap, to protect the stick and it works via twisting mechanism, so you can wind up the eyeshadow stick. At the bottom of the stick you can see which color you are using.

“Gold Tail Star” is a golden shimmery eye shadow color. I love using it under my eyes, but it looks good on the eyelids, too, giving a soft spark. It is super easy to use in both ways. It glides smoothly on the skin, but since the skin around the eyes is extra sensitive, don’t scrub it too hard over it :)

I like this eyestick, because it is very easy to use and it has a travel friendly size (it’s shorter than most pens and pencils are). It is also really affordable in my eyes, although the prices seem to vary a bit (I bought mine at Keautystore because I’ve earned some credit there by writing reviews, so I paid actually almost nothing for it). You should have a look at ebay, too, if you are interested in buying these. The only downside of these eyeshadow sticks are, that they are not smudgeproof. If you have oily lids I would recommend you to use a eyeshadow primer in order to extend the wearability and prevent creasing. I don’t have oily lids myself, but even I am totally surprised what a difference wearing an eyeshadow base can make (I’m using a cheap drugstore eyeshadowbase, so it doesn’t have to be something high end to do the difference).
You can buy these eyeshadow stick here:

keautystore for US$ 7.90 (no free shipping option, only registered mail. You can get 5% discount using this coupon code >>here<<)

W2Beauty for US$ 7.00 (free shipping option. You’ll get a 5$ voucher upon registration with this link, which is usable for orders of minimum 30$)

Twofacemall for US$ 5.25 ( free shipping option)
