Review: Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser

21. September 2016

Here is the confession of a dry skin type person: I love foam cleansers! I know, foam cleansers usually tend to be more drying than gel cleansers or cleansing waters and I – as someone with dry skin – should be aware of it! Yet, I love the luscious and soft embrace of a good old foamy cleanser. Here is a review of my latest tested cleanser, the Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser.

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser

Lafine is the first brand of Lamy Cosmetics, a Korean Cosmetics Company. Lamy Cosmetics is a Korean cosmetics company with 6 different brand. The brands are Renoma, Geo, Sortie, Mennen, Catalina Geo, and, the brand mentioned in this post, Lafine. I reviewed a couple of products from Lamy Cosmetics already, I even reviewed another cleanser by Lafine before, the Lafine Vegetable Deep Cleansing Cream. You can read my review >>here<< if you missed it.

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser is part of the Lafine Vegetable line, which uses 5 vegetable ingredients for nourishing the skin: tomato, carrot, parsley, cucumber and water parsley. This is also displayed by the design of the cardboard box and the tube containing the foam cleanser. On the cardboard box you will also find the Korean and the English description of the product. The ingredients are also listed on COSDNA if you want to look them up. Although the product is 5 free (no animal oil, triclosan, paraben, benzophenon and talc), there are quite a lot of potential irritants and acne triggers stated in the list.

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser

The vegetable ingredients are represented by tiny red and green granules in the product, which dissolve and release the nutrients (unfortunately, not visible in my swatch below). Tomato is known for its antioxidant effects. It contains vitamin C, B1, and B2 and have a high content in sugars (fructose/glucose). Cucumber is known for its detoxing properties because it contains mostly water. Apart from water cucumber also provides vitamin A and C. Carrots are also rich in anti-oxidants. Especially are they known for their vitamin A content and iron. Parsley is rich in fiber and brightens up the skin tone and water parsley contains vitamin C and minerals. Moreover the Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser contains Papaya Extract for a gentle exfoliation. The measured pH lies at 7 though, so it is not your ideal choice if you only use low pH cleansers. It builds a rich and soft foam though and cleans away nicely leftover makeup, resulting in a squeaky clean feeling of the skin. Here, I have to state, that it is quite drying on my skin after using it (as expected if you have squeaky clean skin).

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser does a good job in really cleansing your face from oils. I have to state though, that it is quite stripping and makes the skin feel squeaky clean. If you enjoy cleanser like this (and have oily type skin) you should have a look into it. It has a pH of 7, so if you are looking for a more acid cleanser for using actives this is not your best choice. The Lafine Deep Vegetable Cleaning Cream has a pH of 5 though. The Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser is available from KMall24 for 12.73 US$ (additional shipping costs) or from amazon.com for 23.99 US$ (includes shipping) (also by KMall24).

Review: Hwajin Cosmetics Yeblang Special A Star Essence

30. June 2016

I’m super excited for this review because I really like this products and enjoyed using it in the past weeks: the Hwajin Cosmetics Yeblang Special A Star Essence.  What makes this essence so special is the formula and the ingredients, one of them being Astaxanthin.

Yeblang Special A Star Essence

Hwajin Cosmetics is a Korean brand mostly new to me, but it seems they have a range of skincare and household items. I reviewed the Homme Terrior All in One Lotion before, and my bf still uses it occasionally. I read some few reviews on the Yeblang line before (from fellow BNTgirls),  so I was super excited to receive this product this time.

Yeblang Special A Star Essence

The Yeblang Special A Star Essence is an anti-aging and hydrating product. It contains the powerful anti-oxidant Astaxanthin which is also responsible for the bright orange color of the essence. Also the packaging design refers to the ingredients by being completely orange aswell. The bottle containing the essence is made of glass and looks really elegant and mature. It is also orange of course. The bottle also comes with an included dropper, which is used to take out the essence. I had to squeeze it a couple of times before it started working.

Yeblang Special A Star Essence

The first thing you’ll notice is the bright orange color of  the serum and as I said it is related to the ingredient Astaxanthin. Astaxanthin is a strong antioxidant, so it helps the skin to recover from sun induced damages by influencing the Melanin activity. Astaxanthin is said to be 100 times more effective than Vitamin C or E. But the essence contains even more ingredients and most of these are plant derived essences and oils. The ingredients can be checked via COSDNA. The product also contains some potential acne triggers and irritants, so please check for the ingredients and make a patch test before you try it out if you are curious. Also, to mention one negative point, the ingredients list Benzophenone, which is listed as harmful ingredient.

Yeblang Special A Star Essence

The texture of this orange essence is really thick and jelly-like and I first associated it to be heavy on the skin too. Compared to other essences the Yeblang Special A Star Essence one looks more like a serum or Ampoule here. Surprisingly, once you apply it you feel how it melts and how moisturizing the product is. The texture also changes into a moist and watery product which will hydrate your skin. It also does not feel heavy or greasy and it is not sticky either. I also have the feeling that it makes the skin feel firmer on the next day after using it (I’m using it in the evenings) in combination with the other products I’m using at the moment (if you are curious about my routines, I occasionally post them on Instagram).

Yeblang Special A Star Essence

All in all the Yeblang Special A Star Essence is super great and I love it. I reviewed the Chico you Chica Astazet cream before which also contains Astaxanthin and my skin liked it very much back then. Having a new Astaxanthin product in my skincare routine seems to be the right way to go. The only downside of the Hwajin Cosmetics Yeblang Special A Star Essence is, that it is quite expensive and retails for 49800 Won which is round about 50 US $. I’m using a couple of drops of the essence and I hope this will last as long as possible and therefore compensate for the price. The cream was cheaper, but I went through it very quickly, too (I think I just have a bit left, because I stopped using it in order to try so many new products).

Review: Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-Gyeol Yun Emulsion

29. June 2016

I know that many of you love hanbang cosmetics, meaning beauty products using ingredients derived from traditional Korean medicine. Typical ingredients are ginseng, licorice, ginger,…and many more! I was more than happy to discover that this month’s products I received from BNTnews contained a hanbang product, too, the Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-Gyeol Yun Emulsion!

Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-Gyeol Yun Emulsion

Hansaeng Cosmetics claims to be a true oriental medicine based cosmetics company with a know-how reaching back to 50 years experience. Their Rin Bi-Gyeol Yun skincare range is a highly functional oriental cosmetics based on fermentation of ginseng- 6 year fermentated ginseng and 15 other oriental medicine extracts to be more precise! The skincare routine consists of a toner (skin), essence, emulsion, and a cream.

Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-Gyeol Yun Emulsion

I really like oriental medicine in my skincare and I love fermented ingredients, too. You can guess how happy this product made me. The Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-Gyeol Yun Emulsion I received has anti-wrinkle and whitening properties and is supposed to help you with dry and dull skin and vitalise and make your skin feel supple.

Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-Gyeol Yun Emulsion

I will start with the description of the beautiful cardboard box. I love the flower motif of the box and after staring at the packaging for some dreamy seconds I opened it up and discovered the yellow bottle of the emulsion. A sturdy bottle with a golden cap. It feels quite heavy and not easily to break. A good grab is needed to remove the golden cap and take a look at the pump dispenser underneath.

Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-Gyeol Yun Emulsion

The cardboard box contains the description of the product and the ingredients in English and Korean. You can check the ingredients via COSDNA >>here<< and you will find some potential acne triggers and irritant but most of the ingredients are green flagged. All in all there are a bunch of oriental medicine ingredients included. the blend out of 10 of these ingredients is called botaniceutical plus and it contains: Licorice, Polygonum multiflorum root, Phellinus linteus, Mulberry root, Sophora angustifolia root, Black cohosh, Black sesame, Angelica gigas root, Paeonia lactiflora, Scutellaria baicalensis root. This mixture of herbs and plant extracts is supposed to balance the oil-moisture balance of the skin, provide anti-aging and keep the skin hydrated and resilant. Apart from these ingredients you will also find: Niacinamide, fermented ginseng (Lactobacillus), Sodium Hyaluronate, and Macadamia Seed Oil. These aso have moisturizing and brightening properties.

Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-Gyeol Yun Emulsion

The pump dispenses a small amount of the emulsion. I need two pumps for my face. Sometimes three. The texture is quite creamy for an emulsion and not too runny. The emulsion has a perfumed scent, which I like because it smells like soap. It is easy to spread and absorbs fast without being tacky. It feels hydrating but also rich and makes the skin feel pump. It also works nice with other products on top, be it sunscreen, cream or makeup. All in all, I’m totally happy!

Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-Gyeol Yun Emulsion

I’m happy I was introduced to the brand Hansaeng Cosmetics and that I could try a product from their hanbang skincare. I really like the ingredients and the combination of oriental medicine and fermentation. Unfortunately, like many hanbang products, these ingredients come at a cost. The Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-Gyeol Yun Emulsion contains 140 ml and retails for 32000 Won (32 US $). You can find more information in English >>here<<.

Review: BEIGE CHUU Hard Finish Wood Pencil Eye Brow

28. June 2016

I do not have many eyebrow products, since this is one of the things I only repurchase if used up, nevertheless I discovered that there are many differences between the different brands. Apart from the different brands there are also different types to enhance or fill in your brows like powders, pencils or eyebrow mascaras. The most widely known product is the eyebrow pencil though. Today I’m showing you the BEIGE CHUU Hard Finish Wood Pencil Eye Brow, which I received by BNTnews for reviewing purpose this month.

Review: BEIGE CHUU Hard Finish Wood Pencil Eye Brow

BEIGE CHUU, formerly known as BEIGE only, is the cosmetic brand of the online retailer CHUU. They have a range of clothing and accessories, but also cosmetics products and their slogan is “I know you want to kiss me”. I’ve been following BEIGE CHUU for a while on Instagram and I’ve been curious about their products to be honest. The BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation I reviewed yesterday is the first product I’ve been trying and here is the second product now:

Review: BEIGE CHUU Hard Finish Wood Pencil Eye Brow

This eyebrow pencil doesn’t need much of description since it is really only a piece of wood pencil with a plastic cap. No additional brush, no included sharpener, simply an eyebrow pencil made from hard wood.

Review: BEIGE CHUU Hard Finish Wood Pencil Eye Brow

The BEIGE CHUU Hard Finish Wood Pencil Eye Brow doesn’t even come sharpened in first place, which makes it special. Instead you can sharpen it by yourself. In the picture above I sharpened it using a normal sharpener. But then I saw the instruction on the product page showing how to sharpen these. This is great for people who want to sharpen the pencils by themselves, because they want a special flatness for example. You can decide how flat or round you want your eyebrow pencil. Below is my first try sharpening it, and as you can see I’m not much talented…and my blade was not sharp enough anymore :D But it was definitely fun to try it, although my pencil shrunk very drastically during my trial :’D

Review: BEIGE CHUU Hard Finish Wood Pencil Eye Brow

As the name suggests, this eyebrow pencil has a hard texture. It only gives a light pigmentation, too, and you won’t be able to accidentally overdo your eyebrows since the color is really soft. The dark brown color was perfect for my dark brows. The pencil is available in 5 shades totally.

Review: BEIGE CHUU Hard Finish Wood Pencil Eye Brow

The BEIGE CHUU Hard Finish Wood Pencil Eye Brow will be a good choice for anyone who wants to customize their eyebrow pencil and who like a natural finish. The soft texture of the hard type pencils are good for people who try out pencil eyebrows for their first time, but the sharpening with the blade needs some practice. This eyebrow pencil retails for 12 US$ from the official BEIGE CHUU shop. You will find the video for sharpening there, too!

Review: BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation

27. June 2016

I love stick-type products and here is a new one I want to introduce to you, the BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation, which I receive by BNTnews this month. In the last months I’m mainly using cushion foundations, but still from time to time I like to use regular BB creams or foundations like this instead.

BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation

BEIGE CHUU, formerly known as BEIGE only, is the cosmetic brand of the online retailer CHUU. They have a range of clothing and accessoires, but also cosmetics products and their slogan is “I know you want to kiss me”. I’ve been following BEIGE CHUU for a while on Instagram and I’ve been curious about their products to be honest. The BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation is the first product I’m trying from this brand.

BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation

BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation is a multi-purpose stick type foundation which claims to covers blemishes, be not greasy or sticky, with long-lasting properties and of course, being a stick-type product it is travel friendly, too. It comes in a cardboard box with Korean descriptions only. The packaging design is simple and black, without any further decorations. The stick foundation itself comes in a plastic container in the same black design. It looks very neat and suited for all ages and gender.

BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation

There are three shades available for this stick foundation which are 21Y (Yellow), 21P (Pink), and 23 (Natural Beige). I’m reviewing 21P here. I was first worried that the shade would not suit my skintone. Usually I tend to grab shade 23 myself. The container of the stick foundation works like a lipstick container. you have to twist the bottom in order to get the bullet of the foundation moving upwards. I won’t recommend to twist it up to the end, but only twist it as much as you need, otherwise you will risk that you break it.

BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation

The shade is light, but it blends out nicely and fits to my skin surprisingly. Also, it is very lightweight and spreadable and feels like nothing on the skin. I really liked the creamyness and softness of the texture from the first swatch I did on the back of my hand.

BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation

On my skin it evens out my skintone and covers the redness and the pores. It doesn’t give a matte texture, neither a dewy one. Honestly, it looks very natural and like healthy skin to me. I blended the foundation out with help of a sponge and it doesn’t look streaky and you won’t see any differences between te skin which was blended in and the part were you did a stroke with the foundation stick. I really like the finish. It also was good in terms of lasting power and didn’t flake on my dry skin either, which was most surprising for me!

BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation

I tried stick foundations from NOTS and Etude House before and they all have different textures compared to each other. While the BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation is very leight and feels like you do not wear any makeup, the NOTS Silk Glow Stick Foundation has a much more heavy texture. The Etude House Play 101 Stick has the thickest texture and the most matte finish. It is way to matte for my dry skin for example and settles into the lines, whereas the other two stick foundations work much better on dry skin. Comparing all these three stick foundations now I would say that I love the BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation most.

BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation

I’m very happy about the BEIGE CHUU Stick Foundation and it really has a nice finish and texture. It fulfills all its claims for me and despite the high price I think it is worth that value. Of course everyone elses skin might react other to the formulation, but defitely it has the most pleasant texture from the three stick foundations I tried. It retails for 35 US$ from the official BEIGE CHUU shop.

Review: Kicho Sheep Oil Cream

23. April 2016

By now anybody familiar with asian beauty products has become familiar with strange or unusual ingredients, like snail mucus, donkey milk or horse oil. If you are crazy about trying products like this (or simply curious) I have another one for you here: the Kicho Sheep Oil Cream! But before the animal lovers will scream and run I can assure you that no animal have been harmed for the production of this cream. I must admit that I was eyeing the products from this brand for a long time and I was really thrilled to receive it by BNTnews this month, so let’s get right into the review:

Kicho Sheep Oil Cream

Kicho cosmetics is a Korean brand and has the saying “We provide pure nature greatness to your skin”. I read so many reviews on their products, especially the sheep oil ones, and I hope I will be able to try more from this brand in future to get a better inside into this brand. First of all, I love the design of the packaging of the Kicho Sheep Oil Cream. It looks elegant and feminine on the same time with a beautiful flower printing. The cardboard box is not only pretty from the outside, but even inside the box the beauty continues: The flower pattern continues inside and reveals a beautiful, square glass jar with a metal lid with a vintage imprint on it.

Kicho Sheep Oil Cream

There is also a holographic authentication sticker on the cardboard box, to make sure that you have bought an original cream from Kicho.

Kicho Sheep Oil Cream

The bottom part of the cardboard box contains descriptions about the product in English and in Korean. Some sheep illustrations add a bit of cuteness to the packaging here. The ingredients are listed on the bottom of the box and they are also included in COSDNA if you want to take a closer look. The key ingredient is Lanolin made from pure Lanolin from New Zealand lamb wools purified with German Technology. So what is Lanolin exactly?

Lanolin

Lanolin is also called wool wax and is produced by the sebaceous glands of sheep to protect their wool from getting wet and protects the sheep from climate and weather. Actually, it is obtained by cleaning the obtained freshly shorn wool from sheep, so you do not need to fear that animals are harmed for obtaining lanolin and the name sheep oil is a bit misleading here because one thinks of horse oil directly. Also, as you might have thought first, Lanolin is not a new fancy ingredient but has been used for more than hundred years and cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. Also, thinking of Lanolin as fat is also not correct, because it lacks glycerides, but contains of sterol esters instead. By hydrolizing lanolin you will obtain lanolin alcohols, which are rich in cholesterol, and lanolin acids. 40 % of the lanolin acids are AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acids)! Also, studies have shown that Lanolin has chemical and physical similarities to human stratum corneum (the skin layer you actually see when looking at your skin) lipids. These lipids regulate the hydration state of your skin. So lanolin is great to protect your skin from water-loss and it also is a great skin softener. Also, since it has semiocclusive properties your skin can still breath. And on top of that the healing properties of lanolin are great and it helps to recover rough and dry, itching and cracking skin better than glycerin or petroleum. Nevertheless, it still might be that you react allergic to lanolin, so be sure to patch test products before using them.

Kicho Sheep Oil Cream

They combined the Lanolin with multivitamins from 8 types of berries from all over the world: Cranberry, Blueberry, Strawberry, Goji Berry, Blackberry, Raspberry, Sea Buckthorn, and Acai Berry. Berries are rich in anti-oxidants, which are great for the skin, and add to moisturize and brighten up the skin. The cream is free from fragnance, paraben, mineral oil, steroids, formaldehyd or chemical preservatives. Instead it contains the natural preservative totarol. Totarol was isolated for the first time from heartwood of Podocarpus totara, a yew tree found in New Zealand. Totarol has antimicrobial properties.

Kicho Sheep Oil Cream

Unfortunately, the cream doesn’t come with a spatula, but you can simply use a small spoon or similar. I think it is especially important to work with clean fingers or spoons here, since it does not contain chemical preservatives. The light-yellow cream has a rich and balmy texture, which melts off into the skin easily and absorbs without leaving the skin greasy. It has a nice citrus scent, too. It feels really hydrating for the skin and I applied some on my dry elbows and felt how instantly softening the cream was. It makes the skin feel considerably smoother and more supple and the effect lasts for hours, too. Also, a little of this cream goes a long way so it will last you some time, too.

Kicho Sheep Oil Cream

My final verdict is that I’m in love! This cream makes my skin supple and soft and most important my skin feels like this for hours. I think that the effects of the Lanolin show off pretty nicely in this cream and all in all the whole combination of ingredients works great. Since the ingredients list is not free of minor irritants it is import to check for yourself whether these ingredients suit your skin or not, but I can give dry skin types having troubles with itchy or cracky skin some thumbs up and encourage you to consider a moisturizer containing lanolin for your skin. For some people the balmy texture might appear to rich, although it really is not leaving a greasy residue, but still for those this cream might work great as semiocclusive cream in the night-time routine. You can get this cream from the official Kicho Store for 58 US$ or from Amazon US for 59.99 US$, or from Cupidrop for 58 US$. As you can see the main downside is the price, but this tends to be usual for products containing Lanolin…

Review: Hwajin Cosmetics Homme Terrior All In One

23. March 2016

A rare occasion for me to review a skincare product for men! Actually, I did not only test it by myself, but forced my better half to apply it, although he rarely applies any skincare items. I received the Hwajin Cosmetics Homme Terrior All In One as last item for March from BNTnews and here are my boyfriend’s and my thoughts on it:

Hwajin Cosmetics Homme Terrior All In One

Hwajin Cosmetics is a Korean brand absolutely new to me, but it seems they have a range of skincare and household items. The Homme Terrior line is a skincare line designed for men as the name tells us. I also saw that other BNTgirls have received different items like BB cream etc from this line. When I first saw the bottle I thought of perfume or aftershave and I was really surprised to see that this product is actually a multipurpose lotion. It comes in a sturdy bottle in black with some golden details. I didn’t get any ingredients list of this product and it seems that it has launched just recently, because I didn’t find any pricing either. But thanks to BNTnews I have some information nevertheless.

Hwajin Cosmetics Homme Terrior All In One

Hwajin Cosmetics Homme Terrior All In One is designed for moisturizing, firming, nourishing and balancing the oiliness and moisture of the skin. Since men like to keep it simple it is really a good idea to name a product ‘All In One’ and give it all the skincare properties needed in one single and easy step. The lotion has compounds derived from resurrection plants, herbs, apricot kernels and others to soften and refresh the damaged and rough skin of men. A patented extract mixture from herbs and licorice soothes and moistens the skin. The key ingredients are:

Lemon extract: the rich vitamin C and the citric acid exfoliates and cleanses the skin

Bamboo extract: the antibacterial and antioxidant effect of the bamboo sap makes the skin moist and healthy

Herb extract: a mixture of extracts from rosemary, chamomile, green tea leaf, licorice, polygonum cuspidatum, centella asiatica and scutellaria

Iceberg water: the ultrapure water collected from Newfoundland, Canada

The ingredients sound really nice and also the texture of the lotion is promising. The Hwajin Cosmetics Homme Terrior All In One has a gel-type, milky consistency and feels moist upon application. It has a light scent, which is not heavy, but fresh and also not too “masculine” either. The lotion is very light and absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a greasy stain or heavy feeling.

Hwajin Cosmetics Homme Terrior All In One

The Hwajin Cosmetics Homme Terrior All In One is a perfect product for lazy people, who want a simple one-step skincare routine. It is not designed for heavily moisturizing dry skin, but it gives a good amount of moisture and makes the skin feel softer- perfect for daily use. The design is sleek and in my opinion the bottle looks elegant aswell. This might work if your want to convince your boyfriend to take some care of his skin, too. Unfortunately, I do not know the retail price yet and neither any specific online store to get it from, but I will update if I have any news.

Review: Stylenanda 3CE Duo Cover Crayon

22. March 2016

After I tried the Etude House Contouring Stick and loved it so much I stumbled across the Stylenanda 3CE Duo Cover Crayon, which has launched newly aswell. Thanks to BNTnews I was able to try it!

Stylenanda 3CE Duo cover Crayon

3CE stands for 3 Concept Eyes and was launched in 2009 as a cosmetic brand by Stylenanda. The packaging of the products is similar to MAC cosmetics and mainly black with the triangular logo displayed on the product. Although very simple I think that this kind of packaging looks somehow very trendy. The price of Stylenanda’s 3CE lies in the mid region, but it is more expensive than Etude House for example.

Stylenanda 3CE Duo cover Crayon

The Stylenanda 3CE Duo Cover Crayon comes in the same sleek packaging like we are used to with 3CE. It is a twist-up crayon with colors on each side. The Crayon is designed for highlighting on the one hand and contouring on the other hand, but it is also suited for covering up blemishes.

Stylenanda 3CE Duo cover Crayon

The Stylenanda 3CE Duo Cover Crayon is available in four distinct shades, so you can find a perfect match for your skintone and contouring or correcting desire. I received #4, which has a highlighting tip with fine gold and pink pearl color and a correcting/contouring tip of a dark beige color. The product applies smoothly and feels nice and creamy. It does not cake upon application either. I really like the highlighting color in this crayon. The dark beige color has a yellow touch and is not a perfect match for my skintone. I prefer the beige color of the contouring duo stick from Etude House in this case.

Stylenanda 3CE Duo cover Crayon

All in all I like the Stylenanda 3CE Duo Cover Crayon! The beige color is not exactly my match, but I would love to try the other Duo Cover Crayons to compare. Comparing the Duo Cover Crayon from Etude House to the one from Stylenanda 3CE I like the highlighting color of this one better though. The texture of both sticks is similar and creamy and I do not have any complains about it. If you have a chance to try the to brands in a store for example I can advise you to do so and pick your perfect match. The Stylenanda 3CE Duo Cover Crayon retails for 19 US$ on the official Stylenanda page.

Review: Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra

20. March 2016

It seems that Chosungah 22 is one of these brands getting a lot of attention by many well-known beauty bloggers around the world. I never tried any of their products before, until recently BNTnews send me the Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra for reviewing purpose. Read about my impression on this foundation pact below:

Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra

Chosungah 22 is a Korean brand, which has the brand philosophy that makeup is a fun process, which helps to find one strength. Their product design is modern and also looks kind of fun so to say. The creative director Chosungah also had a lipstick collaboration with MAC in the past.

Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra

The Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra comes in a back and pink cardboard box and contains a pact foundation and a refill for the pact. The pact is designed to have a soft and bouncy texture of provides long-lasting moisture and sheen. When rubbed or dabbed, the oil compounds of the powder foundation pop and make the particles more adhesive on the skin and thereby create a flawless complexion. According to the description the powder and moistening material sticks together and provides moisture to avoid drying or fading out.

Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra

Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra has lifting effects to make the skin look firmer. The ingredients are listed on the cardboard box on English, but the key ingredients are: Agar, Seaweed Extract , Kelp Extract, Caulerpa Racemosa Extract, Dictyopteris Membranacea Extract, Hijiki Fusiforme Extract, and Undaria Extract. The marine ingredients like algae and sea kelp contain many antioxidants and therefore have great anti-aging properties. Also, the pact has SPF 50+/PA++.

Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra

Like all pacts this one comes with a mirror and a puff inside. The puff is separated from the foundation with a plastic lid. The plastic lead does not close firmly, but for powder foundations this is not necessary. The puff has a sticky texture, which is designed to adhere the powder to the skin. I personally do not like these kind of sticky puffs too much to be honest.

Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra

In order to use the foundation you have to use the puff that comes with the product. Apply the pact and dab it on your skin. The foundation has a bouncy (that’s why it has this name) texture and feels smooth and satin-like.

Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra

I received the pact in shade 01 Light Beige, which is slightly to pale for my skintone. Below you see that it makes me look a bit ghosty, but it evens out the redness of my skin. It has a medium coverage, which is buildable. The finish is powdery and tends to be a bit too dry for my skin. I did not feel that the powder foundation is especially moisturizing either. It starts fading quickly, and gets flaky on my skin during the day, too. The foundation has no specific scent.

Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra

The Chosungah 22 Bounce Up Pact Ultra is not really my cup of tea. I usually do prefer liquid foundations over powder foundations and this one is simply not working with my dry skin. Maybe it is suited better for other skintypes. I do like the bouncy texture of the foundation in the pan and the key ingredients are nice, too. Nevertheless, the sticky puff and the flaking are no-goes for me. On the official Chosungah web page you will find the previous Chosungah Bounce Up Pact Master, which retails for 51 US$. Probably the Ultra pact will have a similar pricing. By the way, Chosungah 22 will hold a press event in New York on March 22 and beauty magazines like Cosmopolitan and Allure will be attending this press conference aswell.

Review: Lamy Cosmetics Real 97% Rice Paper Eating Mask Pack

22. January 2016

When it comes to DIY sheet masks rice paper has been often discussed as possibility. Now, Lamy Cosmetics has come up with pre-cut and essence included rice paper masks: The Lamy Cosmetics Real 97% Rice Paper Eating Mask Pack!

Lamy Cosmetics Real 97% Rice Paper Eating Mask Pack

Lamy Cosmetics is a Korean cosmetics company with 6 different brand. The brands are Renoma, Geo, Sortie, Lafine, Catalina Geo, and Mennen. I reviewed products from Lafine and Catalina Geo previously, so the company name was known to me, but I know that many of you will not have heard of these brands before. The Lamy Cosmetics Real 97% Rice Paper Eating Mask Pack comes in three versions: tumeric, green tea and black rice– Since the mask sheet is made of real rice paper (yes, the one you may know from your kitchen) the name “Rice Paper Eating Mask” makes somehow sense. Also the three key ingredients are widely known as ingredients from our more or less daily food.

Lamy Cosmetics Real 97% Rice Paper Eating Mask Pack

Why using rice as main ingredient of this natural mask pack? The sheet masks claims to have a wearing sensation which is completely different compared to the others sheet masks made of synthetized material. This way the mask is suitable for sensitive skin types and can be used safely without any irritation.

Moreover, the ingredients of the sheet mask essence uses patented herbal ingredients. It contains diverse herbal ingredients such as rh-EGF capsulized with lecithin, plant stem cells, Chinese redbud, and fermented red ginseng to nourish, reduce irritation and skin’s stress as well as keeping its health. The ingredients and description for the sheet mask are written in English and Korean on the backside of the mask sachets.

The essence of all three masks has the same ingredients. The only difference between the three masks are the rice paper sheets. The Lamy Real Eating Mask Tumeric has a sheet made of Rice, Tumeric, Water, and Salt. The Lamy Real Eating Mask Green Tea has a sheet made of Rice, Green Tea, Water, and Salt. Lastly, the Lamy Real Eating Mask Black Rice has a sheet made of Rice, Black Rice, Water, and Salt.

Lamy Cosmetics Real 97% Rice Paper Eating Mask Pack

The Lamy Cosmetics Real 97% Rice Paper Eating Mask Pack have to be used as following: First, clean your skin with a toner after washing your face. Then, spread the essence included in the package on your rice paper mask sheet. Let the essence be absorbed by the rice paper for around 2 minutes. Afterwards, you can put on the mask from the center of your face stroking it to the outsides. Remove the product after 15-20 minutes and then finish your routine with your base products. Since the rice paper will turn from its hard, paper-like consistency into a jelly sheet you should not pull the mask while applying, because it is easily torn.

The essence for all the mask contains a bunch of plant extracts-some known from traditional chinese medicine, like ginseng, and Rehmannia glutinosa. The list also contains Bifida Ferment Lysate and Lactobacillus Ferment Filtrate. Ferment filtrate is nutrients-rich. It contains many vitamins, amino acids and proteins and helps to improve the moisture level of the skin. Lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) extracted from milk, and honey and sugars (Trehalose and Raffinose) for nourishing and moisturizing are also worth to be mentioned here.

Below, you can see how the structure of the rice paper changes, after applying the essence on the rice paper. The essence has a light scent, but it is not heavy in my opinion. It is a clear liquid, with a consistency between gel and water. It distributes easily in the plastic container of the rice paper mask.

Once the sheets are soaked you will see that the consistency of the rice sheet masks resembles hydrogel masks. It is jelly and thin. The tricky part comes here: the difference between rice paper and hydrogel masks is, that the rice paper mask is much more prone to be torn apart. Honestly, I didn’t manage to use any of the masks without tearing at least a tiny bit of it. The second problem is, that it does not adhere to the skin as tightly as hydrogel masks…even not like regular cotton sheet masks (or whatever fabric used for the sheet masks). I could not wear the masks for longer than 10 minutes because it started to fall off at the one or the other side. Nevertheless, I must say that the essence is great. When absorbed completely the skin feels soft and smooth and no sign of irritation or anything.

Lamy Cosmetics Real 97% Rice Paper Eating Mask Pack

Now, I really do like the performance of the essence of this mask, but is it worth buying a sheet mask made from rice paper? Honestly, I would not buy the mask myself. I would rather to buy an essence with similar ingredients (or one that I really like) and a pack of rice papers or compressed paper masks (or even cotton sheets or pads). It will have the same effect, or even better, and you can mix in your favorite serum etc together with the essence and soak your preferred material. Surely, the Lamy Cosmetics Real 97% Rice Paper Eating Mask Pack is a great product for you if you are too lazy to cut your rice paper or whatever into pieces, but even that is not the biggest deal, is it? If you want to give it a try anyways you can find these masks at Lamy Cosmetics, or on ebay or Amazon.com. It retails for 6000 Won (or around 8 US$ from ebay/Amazon). Did you try rice paper masks already?
