Unboxing: Barbara Box March 2017

28. March 2017

At the moment there are so many new subscription boxes on the market – and most of them revolve around beauty and beauty products – that it is hard to decide for any of them. Here is another subscription box called Barbara Box I want to introduce to you and here we have a slightly different approach, which I really appreciate and am excited to share:

Barbara Box

I talked about the launch of this box earlier on my Instagram and although I was not able to attend the launching event I was sent a box to show you. I’m super happy and thankful for this opportunity :)

Barbara Box

The Barbara Box ambassador is also the donor of the name, a German celebrity called Barbara Schöneberger. The box is not only advertised by her but also she selects the products. The topic of the boxes revolve around “Girls Night” with your best friend(s) and contain food, drinks, beauty, decoration, games…so as you see the Barbara Box seems to be very versatile.

Barbara Box

The box is not a monthly box but is released every three months and comes together with a print of the Barbara magazine, also a magazine curated by Barbara Schöneberger and addressing women in their 30s...but enough of the talk, let’s see what is inside the first Barbara Box:

Barbara Box

Inside a light pink box there are 10 different products of all kinds, but the first product popping into my eyes is the Missha sheet mask! I love Missha, I love kbeauty and I love that I finally receive a German subscription containing a sheet mask :D In my box I found the Missha Pure Source Cell Sheet Mask containing Lotus Flower. Although I’ve tried like hundreds of sheet masks literally I didn’t try this mask yet, which makes me even more happy! A pity it only comes with one instead of two masks. It would be fund to share a second mask with your BFF. The Missha Mask is listed with a price of 1.75 € in the product description card included.

Barbara Box

The second product in my hands was a postcard set by Typealive. These are really beautifully designed and I love the minimalistic black and white here. This set of 4 postcards retails for 8 €.

Barbara Box

Barbara Box

The Barbara Box was really heavy when I received it and looking at the content the reason for this were the drinks included:

Barbara Box

First of all there were two cans of Tranquini, a natural drink for relaxing and compensating stress. I never heard of that drink and I’m even more curious to try it now :D There is one with the flavor Green Tea Mix and one with Berry Mix. This drink retails for 1.39 € per can. The second heavy product was a small bottle of sparkling wine with elder flower from the brand Jive. It retails for 1.19€.

Barbara Box

Another drink, but yet not ready to drink, was also included in form of a small tin of Kusmi Tea. It’s a green tea blend with strawberries and it smells soooo delicious. I love green tea and I love strawberries! This seems to be my new favorite tea. The small tin of Kusmi Tea retails for 5 €.

Barbara Box

What I like especially about the Barbara Box is its versatility. It does not only contain the usual products, but it also included a party game in this box. I love board games and we are having board game evenings with our friends here quite often. I’m not exactly in favor of party gaming though, but I can imagine that some people love these kinds of games and would be happy about it. The game you’ll find here is called Privacy by the game company Amigo. It retails for 11€.

Barbara Box

There is no girls night without some snacks. So this box surprises with the Bahlsen Cookie Chips Chocolate Chips. They taste deliciously like chocolate cookies, but are thin and crispy. I could not keep these untouched for long :D The Cookie Chips retail for 1.69€.

Barbara Box

The first Barbara Box also came with a notebook. Since Bullet Journaling seems to be very trendy at the moment I can imagine that this is really useful for many. I would have loved a cute design on the front instead of simply the brand. But I like that the pages are clear with dots instead of lines or caskets. It retails for 6.50€.

Barbara Box

And what else is important on a girls night? Nail polish of course. I love the red shade of the Faby Nail Lacquer that was in my box. The perfect color for me. There was one of two colors included in the box, either Red Carpet or Simply Perfect. My nail polish here is in shade “Simply Perfect”. Faby is an Italian brand and their nail polishes are vegan, 5-free (without Formaldehyd, Toluol, Campher, Dibutylphthalat and Formaldehyd resins), and are supposed to be long lasting. they retail for 15 €.

Barbara Box

The last item, and also my favorite one of the non-beauty items is this light scarf from Codello. There were different colors available and my box came with a light cream colored scarf, the perfect color for spring and summer and I love it so much. Codello is known for their scarfs and bags and they also have a cute Disney Collection at the moment. The scarf retails for 29.95€ and is a blend of viscose and polyester.

Barbara Box

So, this is it! The content of the first Barbara Box was really enjoyable and I love the versatility here. I like the idea of having a box that can be enjoyed on a girls night. Also, the fact that this box is released not every month but every three months makes it more appalling, in my opinion. The box retails for 29.95 €, but there are also options for a yearly or half year order with 4 or 2 boxes, respectively. Considering the prize of the included products in the first box here it made up for that prize definitely. I hope that the future boxes will be as beautifully curated as this one. What do you think?

Unboxing: Fem.Box February 2017

6. March 2017

A couple of days ago I received the fem.box for February and I wanted to share its content with you today. The Fem.Box is a monthly subscription boxes comes packed with products revolving around beauty, fashion, lifestyle and health. Let’s see what was inside:

Fem.Box February 2017

The ambassador of the fem.box is Fernanda Brandao is a brasilian singer, actress, moderator and fitness expert that gained popularity in Germany by the pop group “Hot Banditoz”. She also has hadquite some TV appearances here in Germany within the last years. The fem.box advertises not only to be a box for beauty lovers also, but have more versatile components. And I must say the first box I received last year really lived up to this claim. This time the content was less convincing to me:

Fem.Box February 2017

Again the box comes with the beautiful blue/purple cardboard box. It always brightens up my mood to see these colors.

Fem.Box February 2017

Inside you will find cards and descriptions of the products as usual. All in all, the box contains 6 products in total.

Fem.Box February 2017

edding L.A.Q.U.E nail polish

I was happy about this product, although last month’s box also contained nail polish. I heard good things about the nail polishes from edding, and also the dusty rose shade is really pretty. I hope I can show you on my Instagram soon. The nail polish is supposed to be long-lasting and retails for 7.99 € per 8 ml.

BATISTE Dry Shampoo “Blush”

I reviewed the pigmented dry shampoos from Batiste before and I’m happy that the box does contain another version of the dry shampoo here. I use dry shampoo quite often in order to avoid washing my hair every day (mainly on my bangs). “Blush” has a flower scent and seems to be perfect for spring. It retails for 3.99€ per 200 ml.

Amorelie Warming Massage Oil

This warming massage oil contains panthenol and extract of grape leaves. It has a straberry scent and taste and can be used for body care or for massaging your beloved one. It retails for 14.90 € per 100 ml and is the most expensive product out of the box.

Fem.Box February 2017

Mymuesli N’Oats

I bought the full-size of these instant porridge previously in another version and it was tasty. This one has the perfect size to take it to work and I will probably eat it somewhen this week :D The to-go cup retails for 1.29€ and contains 30 g of product.

Myline Raspberry-Yoghurt-Crisp Bar

I ate this bar today at work and it was really delicious. I love combinations of yoghurt and berries and the bar was also coated in chocolate. It retails for 1.79€ per bar.

FRIYA Superfood Drink with Chia

The previous box also contained a superfood drink by FRIYA. I didn’t try this one yet, but I will also take it to work with me. According to the description it has a lime/ginger taste, which sounds quite yummy. 200 ml retails for 1.95€.

Fem.Box February 2017

All in all, the fem.box February 2017 contained again interesting products that were partly new to me! There were 6 products in total and a mixture between food and cosmetics product. What was slightly dissapointing is that there was again a FRIYA Superfood Drink like in last months box, and also a nail polish again. It would be nice to see different types of products in future boxes.  The price of 19.95€ per box/month is okay, considering the retail value of the products, but still considering the similarity of one third of the products to the previous box is a bit of a downer. The subscription of the box can be quit every month and the shipping costs are included in the price. The box only ships to Germany at the moment, but since it has launched newly who knows what the future brings to us!

Unboxing: Fembox January 2017

28. January 2017

A while ago I talked about a newly launched beauty box on the German market, the so-called fem.box. Their monthly subscription boxes comes packed with products revolving around beauty, fashion, lifestyle and health. I loved the composition of the first fem.box and here I want to share with you what was inside the Fembox January 2017:

Fembox January 2017

The ambassador of the fem.box is Fernanda Brandao is a brasilian singer, actress, moderator and fitness expert that gained popularity in Germany by the pop group “Hot Banditoz”. She also has hadquite some TV appearances here in Germany within the last years. The fem.box advertises not only to be a box for beauty lovers also, but have more versatile components. And I must say the first box really lived up to its claim.

Fembox January 2017

The products of the fem.box are packed in a square cardboard box. I really liked the blue and purple aquarell design of the box. It came with a description card and a post card saying “Good mood can be worn with almost everything”. The description card also contains a short description to each product.

Fembox January 2017

All in all the January box contained 6 different products. It included makeup, skincare, and healthy food/snacks. This time it didn’t have any products related to fitness (read my review for their launching box >>here<<). Non of the products were known to me, which was a great surprise again.

Fembox January 2017

DASKAUGUMMI

DASKAUGUMMI is a German brand for sugar-free chewing gum in unusual flavours. The box contained three different ones: lemon/basil, organge/ginger, and mint/elderflower. I started trying the mind/elderflower gum and it is really delicious from its flavor. A box of 3 containg 15,4 g retails for 4.95€.

Fembox January 2017

FRIYA

The FRIYA Superfood Drink containing Basil Seeds is probably the most beautifully designed smoothy bottle/drink I came across so far. And Basil Seeds?! Never knew you could eat them…or drink them. They are supposed to be high in nutritions and keep you full/satisfy your cravings for food. The basil seeds are mixed with juice of Rock Cherry and Rose Petals. The taste is unusual and the macerated basil seeds remind me of chia seeds in a chia pudding. A new experience...would love to try other products from FRIYA. 200 ml retail for 1.95€.

Fembox January 2017

VEGANZ

VEGANZ is one of the most well known brand for vegan products in Germany. I saw these superfood bars at the super market but never tried them. Here we have the Inka-Goji-Raspberry bar. Never heard of Inka berries before, but tried Goji berries already. And Raspberries are one of my favorites. I’m always open for bars like that because they are great for an inbetween snack during my way to work. I put this in my backpack for next week. 30g retail for 1.29 €.

Fembox January 2017

Now, let’s take a look at the beauty products in this months fem.box:

ADENA

I received the ADENA nail polish in shade 77, a bright flamingo-pink color. And also while applying this nail polish the color keeps the bright shade you see in the bottle. It is almost opaque in one layer , too. It is quickly drying, too. So far I really like it, but I cannot say how long-lasting it is, yet. The bottle of nail polish contains 11 g and retails for 3.99€.

Fembox January 2017

LORD & BERRY

This Pencil eyeliner and shader from LORD & BERRY is designed for creating a sharp eyeliner, but can also be smudged out for smokey eye look. The pencil glides smoothly over the skin and has a nice consitency. It can be blended out well, too. One of these rather short pencil liners retails for 9.90€.

Fembox January 2017

ÊTRE BELLE

The product I’m most excited about is the ÊTRE BELLE Hyaluronic Cleansing Foam. As the name says it contains Hyaluronic Acid for providing the skin with moisture. It comes in a pump bottle, that releases the product as ready-to-use mousse-foam. I didn’t try it yet, but I want to review it after I used it. The bottle contains 100 ml and retails for 17.90€.

Fembox January 2017

The selection of the products was quite versatile as you see.

Fembox January 2017

All in all, the fem.box January 2017 contained some interesting products! There were not as many items as in their release box, but still the combination was versatile.  The price of 19.95€ per box/month is okay, considering the retail value of the products. The subscription of the box can be quit every month and the shipping costs are included in the price. The box only ships to Germany at the moment, but since it has launched newly who knows what the future brings to us!

Review: Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

9. December 2016

Good news for my fellow German kbeauty lovers: Whamisa skincare is now also available in Germany through the online store for natural cosmetics Najoba. Apart from the Whamisa Organic Flowers Facial Oil I also had the chance to test the Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner:

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

The Korean brand Whamisa is relatively young and was founded in 2010 as certified natural cosmetics brand. Their key ingredients focus on plant based fermentation extracts. The brand name is written in Chinese characters which have the meaning of flowers and beauty and the use of four key components of natural materials in their products. The attractive ingredients are combined with a beautiful packaging design in light colors. Some of the products are decorated with flower illustrations, as you can see here, too.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

The Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner has been on my wishlist for a long time! Instead of water, you will find here a lot of plant derived extracts and liquids. Similar to the Oolu Moisture Liquids I reviewed previously (Oolu is a sister brand of Whamisa) this toner contains oil to give a special care and moisture to your skin.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner contains 97,4 % of pure ingredients derived from nature. It also contains Fermented plant extracts. These ingredients help the skin to protect itself from harmful environment and dryness by nourishing and creating a skin protective film.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

By the way, Whamisa products are formulated without Parabens/Synthetic/Chemical Preservatives, Artificial Dyes and fragrances, Petrochemicals, Silicon/Mineral Oils, EDTA, Animal Origin ingredients. Their products are environmental friendly and free from animal testing. The ingredients of the Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner are listed below:

Ingredients: *Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract , *Chrysanthemum Morifolium Flower Extract, *Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, *Lactobacillus/Chrysanthemum Sinense Flower Ferment Filtrate, *Lactobacillus/Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Ferment Filtrate, *Lactobacillus/Teraxacum Officinale (Dandelion) Rhizome/Root Ferment Filtrate, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, *Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, *Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, *Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, *Helichrysum Arenarium Flower Extract, *Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, *Glycerin, Propanediol, **Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, **Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, **Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Lithospermum Erythrorhizon Root Extract, Xanthan Gum, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, *Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Oil, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil, ***Fragrance

*Certified Organically Grown **Natural Preservative ***Natural Origin

You can also check the ingredients via COSDNA. Almost every ingredient is green labelled, and it is so pull of natural ingredients, too! The Lactobaccilus ferment filtrate of the plants is nutrients-rich. It contains many vitamins, amino acids and proteins and helps to improve the moisture level of the skin. Aloe extracts and plant-based oils boost the moisture the toner gives to your skin.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

The Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner comes in a milky glass bottle. The bottle looks really high-end and pretty, especially with the flower illustrations on it. In order to use the toner, you pour the liquid gel-like product into your palms or on a cotton pad and pat it on to your face. You use the toner after cleansing your face, and in contrast to western toners asian toners are designed to moisturize your skin after cleansing and not to remove left-over makeup. The formula locks in te moisture into your skin and leaves a slightly tacky feeling, making the skin feel moisturized. I love the smooth feeling of the toner, that is provided by the oils in the ingredients. Usually, I do not like tacky or sticky products, but I usually continue to use other products on top and then the stickiness is not noticeable any longer. If you only use toner after cleansing and no other serums and creams you might not like the stickiness. Anyways, apart from that this toner really does a good job in moisturizing the skin.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner is my most used toner at the moment. Due to the cold weather I love the extra moisture this toner gives to my skin. There is also an original version and a fresh version of this toner available, depending on your skintype these might be worth a closer look, too! My only downside for Whamisa products in generall is the price, especially if offered by shops outside of Korea. Of course a high price is justified by the origin of the ingredients, since it is natural and organic cosmetics, and for non-Korean sellers they also have to add the costs for export. Still 39 € for 120 ml bottle of toner can be considered quite expensive. You have to see it as a light essence or serum. With this in mind, the price can be considered good actually, since it is really providing enough moisture to skip additional moisturizing essences, and just use a cream on top.

What is your favorite moisturizing toner? Did you try Whamisa products already? What was your impression?

Review: Essence Juice It Edition

6. June 2016

// PR SAMPLE / BEAUTY / MAKE-UP //

Since midths of May a new limited edition by Essence is available: the Essence Juice It Edition. The makeup products from this line are dedicated to summer and fruits and therefore come along with colorful and fruity packaging design. Until middle of June you will be able to get the products from this edition from your local drugstores. When I saw the press release I was already eyeing some of these products, but luckily, on the same day I wanted to go to the drugstore and take a closer look, I received a package containing a total of 8 products from this edition! I was utterly happy in that moment :D

Essence Juice It Edition

Essence is a european drug store brand, which is easily available here in Germany, but also in many other countries around the world. Their brand philosophy is against animal testing and their products are really affordable, providing a reasonable quality. The colors of the Essence Juice It Edition are described as a “reminiscent of a mixed peach, watermelon and cherry fruit basket, and the gel-like, partially scented textures conjure-up spring colour effects on the lips and nails”. Sounds perfect for summer to me! But let’s take a look at the products I received:

Essence Juice It Edition

First of all, and probably the key item of this collection, are the Essence Juice It Jelly Nail Polishes. There are a total of four colors of these semi-transparent jelly nail polishes available and I received 3 of them called Jelly Orange, Jelly Water Melon and Jelly Cherry. Additionally there are some Essence Juice It Scented Nail Stickers which you can use to spice up your nail art.

Essence Juice It Edition

The nail polishes have a short application brush, which made it a bit difficult for me to paint my nails. With one layer the colors are not opaque and you will see the white of your nails through the polish. Two layers, or even three layers are really pretty nice and give a nice jelly effect, aswell. The glossy jelly finish also stays for a long time and is not disappearing after 1 or two days, but the surface of the dried nail polish is prone to fine scratches. the staying power of the nail polish was nice though, depending on how much work you do with your hands of course.

Essence Juice It Edition

The scented nail stickers have a nice fruity scent and there are quite some different motives on the sticker sheet, reaching from fruits to flamingos. You just have to press them onto your nails and you are done. I didn’t use the stickers yet, but I think I will definitely go for it during the upcoming summer weather.

Essence Juice It Edition

The item I wanted to buy anyways from this collection was the Essence Juice It Detangle Brush! I fell in love with the watermelon inspired design at first sight. The brush is similar to a tangle teezer, but smaller. The brushes feel a bit stiffer than the ones of the Tangle Teezer, but still it is so cute and has the perfect size for carrying it around! My favorite item from this collection!

Essence Juice It Edition

A makeup line without any lip products is not a real makeup line :D So here are two lip products from this collection, the Essene Juice It Jelly Tint Lipstick and the Essence Juice It Glossy Lipliner. The Jelly Tint Lipstick in shade “01 Cherry Cherry Lady” reminds me of the Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly Tint. It doesn’t show any tint though on my skin, but seems it has a very subtle pink stain. It is not visible on my lips and has more a feeling of a balm than a tint or lipstick. The Glossy Lipliner in shade “02 You Are One In A Melon” has a light pink color and a creamy texture. It spreads nicely across the skin, but unfortunately is barely visible on my lips, too.

Essence Juice It Edition

The last product I want to share with you from this edition is the Essence Juice It Cherry Eau De Toilette. This light perfume has a nice fruity scent and luckily does not have any overpowering artificial cherry scent. It will be liked by people who love fruity perfumes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last too long and fades too quickly.

Essence Juice It Edition

All in all the theme of the Essence Juice It Edition fits perfectly to the summer season and the colors are nicely selected and make me crave for fresh and colorful fruits. I really like the Jelly Nail Polishes and the Detangle Brush and also the scented Nail Stickers are such an adorable idea. Since Essence is a drugstore brand the products will be available at an affordable price, too, so if you like any of the items it is worth to grab them as long as they are still available.

What is your impression of the Essence Juice It Edition?

Asian Beauty Blog Party: The Non-Vanity Vanity Table

4. May 2016

…a confusing title, isn’t it?! Back when we discussed the posts for the Asian Beauty Blog Party we had the idea of making a vanity table post. Actually, after we started working on the posts, we discovered that most of us do not have or use a vanity table, but it is mostly about makeup storage and bathroom stuff…finally we changed the topic to Non-Vanity Vanity Table :D So, in this post I will share with you where I do my makeup and skincare…sorry, in advance for the dark pictures, but I couldn’t make it to take pictures during daytime…(maybe I’ll retake some of the pics later…)

Asian Beauty Blog Party

Actually, I have something like a vanity table, but it has been a mess for most of the past years. Just recently I started to remove all my makeup from the bathroom and leave only skincare and body care there. I also tossed some of my old makeup, but still there is too much of it to be honest. My vanity table mainly holds my accessories and some perfumes…
Asian Beauty Blog Party
Below the table I’made storing my makeup products which I opened and I am using in some boxes.
Asian Beauty Blog Party
I try too keeplease a certain division but usually after a couple of days or weeks everything is a mess again. Haha…
Asian Beauty Blog Party
The skincare I’m using is placed on a shelf in my bathroom. I removed all the unopened products from there and places them into labelled containerso so I can systematically go through them as soon as the previous ones are empties. So below is a last image showing my skincare products in use…to be honest, it is only half of the products because the other half is at my bf’s place :D
So, how is your non-vanity or vanity table organized?

The Beauty Lover Tag

27. April 2016

I’m really happy that the lovely Kim tagged me in The Beauty Lover Tag because this one contains really some nice questions. Thanks again, Kim! Please head over to her blog, she is one of my favorite reads :) I’m going right into it, too:

The Beauty Lover Tag

1. If you could have anyone in the world do your makeup, who would it be?
I never had my makeup done by anyone else than me so I surely would be curious whether a skilled makeup artist would do it any better…Neverthless, if I chose only one person in the world it would be Dita von Teese…of you know me for some time you know that I adore her because she is so ageless beautiful in a glamorous way. She states that she is doing her makeup herself for most of her shootings and stage appearances, so it would be nice to have her as makeup artist :D

2. What’s your top makeup tip?
Hahahaha, actually, I’m no makeup pro at all…I’m terrible at eyeshadow and pressed powder foundations. My eyeliner is okay but mainly because I apply eyeliner since forever…mostly I’m too lazy for any thoroughly makeup and I hardly used powders and bases…only occasionally on weekends….one tip that worked out for me is to apply transparent powder before foundation or bb cream. It reduces the problem that the makeup settles into the lines….I think it is generally known as Wayne Goss method …

3. What one makeup item could you not live without?
Eyeliner and lipstick…haha…I have many lipsticks…(still planning on doing a post on my collection…

4. What one skincare item could you not live without?
For skincare it is definitely cleanser!…and sunscreen :D

5. What are you worst at when it comes to applying makeup?
Applying eyeshadow neatly and make it look like a decent smokey eye makeup…oh…and I cannot apply false lashes at all :‘D

The Beauty Lover Tag

6. What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to beauty?
It seems to be a general trend for mid-ages to elderly women in Germany to apply blue eyeliner, but have a dull face and barely no other eyemakeup apart from this…especially women with blonde hair….I don’t think that this is any pretty at all and I’ve been wondering over and over when this was considered pretty…. I’m always on the brink of asking….

7. What’s your favorite makeup era?
I totally agree with Kim here: I love the 1940’s and 1950’s pin-up makeup! This is what I consider to be feminine….but it is no only the makeup but also the outfits and the hairstyle which all matches perfectly and looks really pretty! I’m not talented in hair-do’s and generally too lazy to apply rollers everyday….but I wished I could…

8. What’s your guilty pleasure product?
Luckily, I never quite see the sense in buying expensive products because the ones I received as gift or for reviewing were not always worth that much money either- at least in my eyes. Surely there were some breathtaking and luxurious products but after all you can find a cheap and less pretty looking alternative for each of them. I also would consider a 20 US $ lipstick as pricey and I only have one Lipstick from Mac for example…which I love, but which is not better in surviving through a meal than any other cheaper lipstick…But I’m willing to spend more money on perfumes and haircare on the other side. My favorite perfume is Angel from Thierry Mugler and the scent simply lasts for hours! And I love the Shiseido Tsubaki Haircare.

9. What’s your underdog product?

At the moment I do not have any specific in mind, but I usually love to try our different drugstore brands…

10. What’s your favorite makeup product of 2015?
I made a list of my favorite products >>here<< and taking a look back know my absolute favorite from this list would be the I’m From Honey Mask!

The Beauty Lover Tag

And now I would like to tag my sister and her blog Miss Lovely Attitude and Evelyn from Korean Beauty Dream :) Hope you eenjoyed reading this post!

beauty Catrice review

Review: Catrice Bold Softness Collection

2. March 2016

Spring season is the time for light and colorful makeup and the new Catrice Bold Softness Collection brings exactly these attributes to us. I received some products from this limited edition for reviewing purpose, and moreover few products from the new regular launches from Catrice. Here is my impression:

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

‘Pastel Passion. Spring 2016 welcomes a mixture of voluminous lightness and greyish pastels. High-tech materials such as light neoprene are combined with summery fabrics. Loose cuts with partially androgynous shapes take over from the styles of the winter season and offer inspiration with their soft, chalky colour worlds. The Limited Edition “Bold Softness” by CATRICE is also heading into the spring season with soft sorbet nuances in March 2016. Subtle colour graduation in mint and mauve create feminine make-up looks and offer an exciting contrast to the popular genderless-trend. Soft Spring – by CATRICE.’

That said, the description brings me into a spring mood already! Catrice is a drugstore beauty brand available in many countries. Their products are inspired by the Fashion trends of the world’s capitals and have a good quality despite the affordable price. The brand is against animal testing for their cosmetics products, too. The spring collection they release this month is called Bold Softness and consists of 5 different products, all in soft pastel shades, which fit perfectly to the season. The Catrice Bold Softness Collection consists of Duo Eye Shadows, Voluminous Lip Colours, a Colour Correcting Powder, Satin Matt Nail Lacquers, and a Perfume Stick. Below are the four products I received from this collection:

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

Catrice Bold Softness Duo Eye Shadow ‘VoluMINTous’

‘Wash-off Pastels. Three powder eye shadows present three different colour duos. Each with one lighter and one darker nuance, they conjure-up contrasting shades and effects on the eyelids. Available in a choice of mint, rosé pink and mauve, these eye shadows offer a convincing high pay-off and create soft, feminine eye make-up styles.’

I received the Duo Eye Shadow in the shade ‘VoluMINTous’ and as the name says this is a mint colored powder eye shadow. It comes in a lighter shade in the middle of the pan and an outer ring of a darker mint color around. The eye shadow contains 2 g. The colors are easy to apply and have a good pigmentation, even when applied with fingers. They do not create much fall-off either. There is a light pearly/shimmery effects, but without containing visible shimmer particles. Usually I’m more into the brown or mauve shades and if I would have selected any of the three available colors, it would have been ‘Mauve Medley’. The third shade is called ‘Soft PINKmentation’. Nevertheless, I’m curious to try out the mint color and I think it will be a good choice once we have some more sunshine and the temperatures are rising.

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

Catrice Bold Softness Voluminous Lip Colour NeopRED

‘Break in Style. An elegant contrast to the delicate pastel shades in this edition: the two Voluminous Lip Colours – available in a soft pink or an intensive red – ensure medium coverage and a shiny finish for a conscious touch of colour on the lips. The creamy texture feels wonderfully soft and pleasant.’

The Catrice Bold Softness Voluminous Lip Colour is available in two shades, called ‘NeopRED’ and ‘Bold Pinkmentation’. I received the red shade and I’m more than happy, since it is such a lovely shade! The lipstick applies very creamy and lightly pigmented and therefore can be applied in a natural tone, but adding more layers darkens the shade and makes it more visible. It is a red/mauve shade which is neither too bright, nor to nude- perfect for every day use.

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

The lipstick has a glossy finish as you can see below on my lips. I applied more than one layer and I’m totally in love with this color. It is not long-lasting since it is sheer, but fades naturally, It doesn’t dry the lips because of the creamy texture.

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

Catrice Bold Softness Satin Matt Nail Lacquer ‘Bold PINKmentation’

Smooth Neoprene. Four nail polishes in the colours of the season – mint, mauve and soft as well as bold pink. The formula of the Satin Matt Nail Lacquers stands out for professional coverage, long durability and unique neoprene effects. All polishes have a fashionable semi-matt finish. In addition, the mint and soft pink versions have a light shimmer.

There are four shades of the Satin Matt Nail Lacquer called VoluMINTous, Mauve Medley, Soft PINKmentation, Bold PINKmentation. I received Bold PINKmentation, a  bright pink shade. The nail polish bottle contains 10 ml and comes with a think applicator brush.

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

The nail polish has a thick consistency and therefore it is quite hard to apply, especially if you want a seamless layer. It has a semi-matte finish and dries quickly. Since it is fast drying it makes it even more difficult to apply easily, unless you work quickly. I used two coats below, which are enough to create an opaque layer. The color is very pretty and is perfect for people who love pink shades.

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

Catrice Bold Softness Perfume Stick ‘Walk On Air’

Scented & Solid. A stick with the benefits of a perfume. The pleasant, fresh and tangy fragrance invites you to head into the spring season. Thanks to the practical pen-shape and the solid texture, the Perfume Stick is an ideal alternative to perfume to carry around in a handbag as it won’t leak and can be applied anytime and any place.

The second product from the Catrice Bold Softness Collection which I really love. This perfume stick is so easy to use and perfect for on the way. It has a sweet, flowery scent. The bullet of the pen melts slightly when it gets into contact with the skin and lives the light scent. I wished all perfumes would make such a perfume stick pen. I’d love to have my favourite scents with me all time :D

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

In addition to the new spring limited edition Catrice also has some new additions to their regular collection. I received the Catrice Lash Boost Lash Growth Overnight Serum, Eye Brow Stylist, and Volumizing Lip Booster from their new releases.

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

Catrice Lash Boost Lash Growth Overnight Serum

‘The transparent serum contains active ingredients that encourage long-term lash growth. The confirmed test results: 18% lash growth after just four weeks of daily application*. Wow! Apply the serum with the fine brush applicator onto the lid like an eyeliner and let it work overnight. For fabulous XXL lashes during sleep. *Effectiveness test with 20 women for 1 month’

I never tried any Lash Growth Serum so I’m really curious whether this will work. You have to apply this transparent serum on the lash line for one month. 18 % lash growth is not really much though, so it will be a minimal effect probably. It comes with a fine brush, similar to liquid eyeliner and can be applied easily by using it.

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

Catrice Eye Brow Stylist ‘Date With Ash-ton’ and ‘Don’t Let Me Brow’n’

‘Spot on: center stage for the eye brows – the Eye Brow Stylist comes in a practical pen-shape and convinces with its simple yet accurate application. It creates perfect eye brows thanks to the professional brush, which helps to apply the powdery texture on the eyebrows for a natural finish. Never go without again!’

These two eye brow pencils out of three available shades come with spoolie brush on one end and a pencil side on the other. The pencils have to be sharpened using a sharpener, which is not included.

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

The texture of the pencil is solid and you are able to draw fine lines with it. Also, the pigmentation is powdery and soft and the color looks natural. I think the two shades look really similar, although ‘Date With Ash-ton’ (left swatch below) is supposed to be the lighter shade. It goes towards a reddish-brown, whereas ‘Don’t Let Me Brown’n’ is more towards a brown-gray shade. Both colors go well with dark brows.
Catrice Bold Softness Collection

Catrice Volumizing Lip Booster ‘Volume To Go’

‘The Volumizing Lip Booster gives your lips a wonderful volume effect thanks to its menthol ingredients and also hides fine lines on your lips. The results: feminine lips with a shiny rosé finish. With jojoba and almond oil.’

Is a light pink – almost clear– lip gloss, which makes the lips look pumper. It contains jojoba and almond oil to smoothen the lips and make them hydrated. The menthol ingredient makes the lips tingle slightly and acts cooling, which produces the volume effect and makes the lines and dryness disappear. The lip booster comes with an angled applicator.

Catrice Bold Softness Collection

All in all there are some product with I really like. My favourite products from the Catrice Bold Softness Collection are the Catrice Bold Softness Voluminous Lip Colour in NeopRED and the Perfume Stick. And I also do like the Catrice Eye Brow Stylist Pencils. If you have a local drugstore carrying Catrice products you might want to check them out. The products are really affordable and usually only cost a few euros. Did you try any products from the ones above? Do you know Catrice? And if yes, do you have a favourite product?

Review: Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening at Home

18. November 2015

You might know by now that I absolutely love red lipstick! One of the problems while wearing red lipstick, especially the bolder colors, is that they might make your teeth look more yellowish than they are. If you are a regular tea (or coffee) drinker like me you will know about stained teeth and there is nothing worse than putting on your favourite red lipstick and discovering that your teeth are so stained that the red makes it look even more awkward…There are many ways to get rid of the stain on your teeth, including home remedies like active charcoal, using whitening stripes, whitening tooth paste,…the list goes long! But the most effective way is probably bleaching your teeth at the dentist, which is a progress which is quite expensive on the downside. Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening is a cheaper option, and the best part: you can make it on your own and at home at any time you want!

Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening

Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening company is a US-based dental lab providing custom-fitted teeth whitening trays and the necessary equipment to bleach your teeth at home. All these can be acquired at a much cheaper price than if you make the same procedure at the dentist. Furthermore, the process itself is so easy and straightforward that you do not be afraid of doing it by yourself. I received one of their Teeth Whitening Tray Creation Kits for reviewing purpose and I am more than happy with the result! Keep on reading to see my before and after pictures of my teeth (if anybody feels offended by pictures of teeth you should stop reading at this point :D).

Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening

The Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening Kit comes in a neat box containing two trays for your upper and lower dental impressions, base paste and catalyst paste for making your impressions, and 3 syringes  of the Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening Gel and Desensitizing Gel each. Moreover, there are step-by-step instructions on how to take your impressions and how to do the bleaching. Envelopes for sending back the impressions in order to receive your custom-fitted trays are included, too. The postage is pre-paid for US-customers, international customers have to pay the postage for re-sending the trays (the other postage is paid, too). Re-sending was not expensive either, I think I paid a couple of euros, but it was not much. The kit also includes a 30-days satisfaction guarantee and 2 years teeth whitening tray replacement warranty. As you can see there are also three containers of each of the two pastes for making the impressions. If your first try is a miss you have still enough paste to re-do the impressions.

Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening

Okay, let’s start with the steps you have to go through! First you have to take your impressions in order to receive your custom-fitted trays. Therefore you’ll have to mix the base paste with the catalyst paste until they form an even colored paste. Put this mixed putty into the included trays and press your teeth inside. If you have been wearing braces in the past you will be familiar with this progress from your dentist. After a while you can remove the tray and leave it to continue drying. Now, you can put the trays with your dental impressions into the envelope and send it back to the Smile Brilliant dental lab.

Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening

Smile Brilliant will now create bleaching trays upon arrival of your dental impressions. The impressions will be used to create dental models, which are used to model the custom-fitted trays. These clear colored plastic trays can now be used for your at-home-teeth-bleaching. If you already have custom-fitted trays like this you can order the bleaching gel and desensitizing gel only and use your old trays.

Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening

The Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening comes with the Professional Teeth Whitening Gel, with a concentration of 22% Carbamide Peroxide. Each Whitening Gel Syringe has a volume of 3 ml. You can use one syringe for around 3 treatments with each upper and lower tray. You can use the product daily for one week for 1-3 hours per session, depending on how sensitive your teeth are. I used them for 1 hour only, because I have sensitive teeth and I made treatments every second day. I didn’t experience any pain or tooth ache during the treatment. After the whitening progress I always used the Smile Brilliant Desensitizing Gel containing 5%Potassium Nitrate and 0.15% Fluoride Ion. You’ll need the same amount per treatment as you did for the Whitening Gel, so the Desensitizing Gel will also have around 3 applications per 3 ml syringe. In contrast to the whitening Gel the desensitizing gel is not rinsed out afterwards.

Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening

Below you can see my results after using the Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening Kit for 9 applications. I did the applications every second or third day for one hour because of my sensitive teeth. Although the progress was slower and the treatment time for each session was only one hour you can clearly see a difference between the color of my teeth at the beginning and now. Also keep in mind that I have been drinking tea everyday.

Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening

I’m very happy about the results of the Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening and although I was sceptical at first if this treatment will work for me I’m so happy I tried it. The sessions didn’t hurt my teeth and although I used less frequent whitening sessions and only used the shortest time for the whitening each treatment the result is visible. If you have been thinking about bleaching your teeth, but do not want to pay lots of money at the dentist and still have an effective result I can recommend you to try the Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening! The kit I’ve described above retails for 119.95 US$ (112.03 €). If you get your custom trays at the dentist you might pay 500 US$ and more! If you already have custom-fitted trays you might want to think about only trying the Whitening Gel (3 syringes for 34.95 US$) and the Desensitizing Gel (3 syringes for 19.95 US$). The Smile Brilliant web page is great, too, and they have very detailed information on each product and many images and step-by-step instructions on how to use their material. There is also a long list of YouTube reviews and testimonials and before and after images of people who have already used their system. Here is a link to one of the videos for example >>click here<<. It is definitively worth to check out their page. If you are interested in trying Smile Brilliant Professional Teeth Whitening you can use the coupon ‘berriesinthesnow’ for 5 % discount.

Did you know that teeth bleaching was possible at home? What methods do you use for brightening up your smile?

The Blush Addict Tag

16. September 2015

I would never have considered myself as a blush addict since I have way more lip products than blushes, but after being nominated by KimKine (please do check out her wonderful blog!) I discovered that I have a bunch of blushes and for people with only one or two this might already be considered as an addict. Hopefully, you will enjoy my collection of blushes, although most of them are no high-end blushes and most shades are similar :’D

The Blush Addict Tag

1. What colour blush suits you the most?

I like rose shades, but I think coral/peachy shades suit me most…

2. Pressed/cream/loose blush?

I like cream blushes because it is so easy to use them on the go. Most of my blushes are pressed blushes though.

3. Favourite shimmery blush?

Usually I don’t buy any shimmery blushes. But my favourite of the two I own is the Etude House Princess Happy Ending Rose Cheek Blusher.

4. Favourite matte blush?

At the moment it is Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher in shade #11, before it was Bellapiere Mineral Blush Desert Rose.

The Blush Addict Tag

1028 Visual Therapy Muse Powder Blush, Kryolan for Glossybox Blush, Bellapiere Mineral Blush

5. Favourite cream blush?

Skinfood Rose Essence Soft Cream Blusher and 3CE Creamy Cheek Stick

6. Favourite drugstore blush?

I used to buy the Manhattan Cream Blusher regulary, when I only used and owned one single blush.

7. Favourite high-end blush?

My only higher-end blush is the Benefit Dandelion Blush which is part of my Benefit Feelin’ Dandy Kit.

8. Favourite bright blush?

I don’t have any bright blushes. the brightest would be 1028 Visual Therapy Muse Powder Blush.

The Blush Addict Tag

Benefit Feelin’ Dandy Kit

9. Biggest blush disappointment/regret?

Holika Holika Love Fantasy Blusher. It is so pretty, but the lid doesn’t close properly and it largely depends on the brush you use whether the pigmentation is visible or not.

10. Best blush packaging?

Etude House usually does a great job in packaging, so I’m very easily tempted to buy them. I’m still lusting for Canmake blushes because they look super pretty, too, but I didn’t try any yet.

11. What’s on your blush wish list?

Canmake blushes are on my wishlist. And the famous NARS Orgasm Blush is something I would love to try. Kiko also launched a new ollection with some beatiful cream blush colors.

12. Number 1 holy grail blush?

I don’t have a real holy grail blush yet, but I was positively surprised by the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher, because I didn’t expected it to be too good. It is one of my most used blushes at the moment.

The Blush Addict Tag

I probably don’t have the most exceptional blush collection, but I hope you still like it. I have linked the blushes I reviewed in the text, so ou can read some more details about each blush if you are interested. You are also welcome to do the Blush Addict Tag yourself. I would have tagged Sharlynn for this post, but she already did the tag. she is one of the greatest blush addicts I know within my blogging friends :D. Other than her I will tag my sister MissLovelyAttitude, and Sooyoona, and everybody reading and enjoying these kinds of posts. :)

Here are the questions for the Blush Addict Tag:
