Review: Skinfood Black Sugar Wash-Off Mask

5. February 2014

// AFFILIATE LINKS / KBEAUTY / SKINCARE //

One of my first posts on this blog almost one year ago was about Skinfood’s Black Sugar Scrub Foam. Since then I’ve always been curious about Skinfood Black Sugar Wash-Off Mask, because I loved the scrub foam so much. Finally, I bought it a while ago and I don’t regret it ♥ Skinfood offers quite a wide range of different masks and packs, each addressing a different skin concern and provided in tiny plastic buckets.
Skinfood is one of these brands which are competing with Etude House in terms of design – in my opinion at least. It is a Korean brand with vintage appearing design of their products which occupied my heart very quickly. The products are using the beneficial effects of ingredients, which are familiar to us in terms of “food” like vegetables and fruits. Their motto “Food that is good for your health, is also good for your skin.” reflects this brands’ ideology nicely. The Skinfood Black Sugar Wash-Off Mask comes in a cute plastic jar with a vintage-like styled label on the lid. It is simple, but I love this kind of design.
The description is written in English and in Korean on the plastic jar. You can see from the ingredients list, that the main ingredient is sugar, but it also contains various fats and oils. Black sugar has several benefits. It is rich in potassium, iron, calcium and other minerals. Brown and black sugar are often used as mechanical skin exfoliator, as in several skincare products (also see the Klairs Gentle Black skincare line). Here they help to remove the dead cells while massaging. Also, molasses contains vitamin B, which is an antioxidant that prevents and reverses signs of photo-aging of the skin. You can check the ingredients list on COSDNA, too. Two ingredients are red flagged, which are PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, a surfactant and BHT (Butylhydroxytoluol), an antioxidant. If you know that you are sensitive to these two ingredients, keep in mind to test the product previously on your arm.
Below the lid you’ll find another separating plastic lid, which prevents the product to lick out. Nevertheless, due to the rather solid consistency, especially in cool areas, it is practically not necessary.
I was really surprised about the solid consistency, somehow I thought it would be more creamy…Anyway, the scent of it is the same citrus-ish scent that I found with the scrub foam. On the ingredients list is written that they used caramel perfume, but I don’t smell any caramel scent to be honest. When I tried the scrub foam back then, I didn’t like the scent too much in the beginning, because normally I like flowery scents more. But I grew fond of it, because it gives you some refreshment in a way.
If you have sensitive skin you should also keep in mind to don’t use this product on dry skin, but to make your skin wet or damp before. The more water you add while massaging, the more do the sugar grains melt and they won’t irritate your skin anymore. Another way of using this would be in combination with a cleansing oil, like I showed in my Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil review. I think this makes the application even more suitable for sensitive skin.
By the way, the jar doesn’t come with a spatula or a spoon, but I would recommend to use one. Not only because it is more hygienic, but also because it makes it easier to take out product from the jar  (I don’t know if they give you spoons with it, if you buy it at a store). How did it perform on my skin? You can achieve a nice peeling on your skin while massaging this mask into your skin. While leaving it on the face, you can either enjoy the fresh scent, or observe a slight heating effect of the skin, because your blood circulation was promoted while massaging. After I wash off the mask, the skin has a soft feeling. I don’t have a dry feeling nor is my skin greasy.
If you love using masks and you don’t mind leaving a product on your skin for a couple of minutes, I will recommend this mask to you. If you don’t like waiting so much, you can optionally also go for the Black Sugar Foam Scrub. In principal it has the same effects, only it is a cleansing foam on the same time.
You can buy a jar containing 100 g at:

Review: Belleme Cosmetics Get Your Crayon “Bad Girl”

30. January 2014
Some time ago I made a review on Belleme Cosmetics’ Not The Same Tint which I really liked. Before Christmas Abbamart-who is selling Belleme Cosmetics– had a free shipping event. Since I really wanted to try the lip crayons they have I grabbed my chance and ordered finally Belleme Cosmetics Get Your Crayon in shade “Bad Girl”. I also ordered a gel eye liner, but this will be reviewed another time. First, let’s have a look at the crayon:

So, this is again a lip crayon :D It has a clear plastic cap and works with a twisting mechanism, which I like a lot, because you don’t need a sharpener at hand. The design is simple, but the cute font they use on the crayon packaging gives it just the necessary amount of individuality to not get boring.

You can choose between 5 different shades on Abbamart’s Online Shop. The description for “Bad Girl” on the page says:

* Belleme’s trend-setting lip crayons express pure, vibrant color with a single swipe

* BAD GIRL gives irresistible attitude with a deep rich burgundy

* Creamy texture glides effortlessly on

* Perfect for creating two-tone lips with your favorite lipstick (see below for our favorite match!)

* Gives lips long-lasting moisture and softness

* No need to search for a sharpener – convenient twist-up base pushes up the crayon right when you need it

Ingredients: Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride, Octyldodecanol, Diisostearyl Malate, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Ceresin, Candelilla Wax, Microcrystalline Wax, Dipentaerythrityl Hexahydroxystearate / Hexastearate / Hexarosinate, Lanolin, Polyethylene, Avocado Oil, Rosehip Fruit Oil, Macadamia Seed Oil, BHT, Mica, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Titanium Dioxide, Red 201, Yellow 4, Red 218

As you know, I love burgundy and red lip shades, so I was really happy about finding this crayon. The swatch of it is greatly pigmented and it has a smooth feel while applying. ♥ That’s exactly how a crayon has to be in my eyes.
The color stays quite for a couple of hours, let’s say up to four, if you are not excessively eating and drinking. And the stain also stays on your lips a bit, which is because of the dark shade, I guess. It also doesn’t make my lips go dry, which is a plus! All in all, I don’t find anything negative about this lip crayon and I totally love it ♥
You can get this at Abbamart for US$ 9.00. They don’t offer free shipping unfortunately, but if you have a look at their facebook page, you might have the chance to read about free shipping events.

Trustworthy Shops for Asian Cosmetics Part II

29. January 2014
I talked about RoseRoseShop in “Trustworthy Shops for Asian Cosmetics Part I” and today I will introduce another of my favourite shops to you: W2Beauty!
This shop was newly founded beginning of last year and since then got a lot of popularity. Main reason for this is probably the shop owner Alice. She is very nice and does care about any inquiries and questions made. Also she makes use of social media a lot, and if you follow her on facebook or instagram you’ll see that she’s doing a lot of giveaways and wants us to take part in her cosmetic shopping experiences in the various Korean brand shops.

The online shop has a cute layout and is arranged nicely. If there are any discounts you’ll find them on the starting page. Sometimes she’ll put coupons for a selection of brands, so you can get some discount. W2Beauty offers a free shipping option, but you can also go for registered mail if you want to be on the safe side. My orders I did there were always with free shipping (you only pay for tracking number) and they arrived every time after 2-3 weeks. The prices are higher than on RoseRoseShop, but then again shipping doesn’t depend on weight and thus it can be cheaper for heavy products. She is also generous with samples, depending on how much you spend. If you didn’t buy a lot, she’ll include samples nevertheless. Mostly I got brands or products I didn’t know and the sample selection was different each time.
www.w2beauty.com
I really like W2Beauty‘s Affiliate/Sponsorship Programme. If you have a blog you should check it out. They also have an affiliate program.
So, it might be worth to take a look at this online shop if you do not know it already :)
I hope this post was helpful to you. Please write me your comments!♥ If you like this, I will continue with more posts of this kind.

Review: Etude House Bling Bling Eyestick No. 9 “Gold Tail Star”

28. January 2014
I’m not wearing eyeshadow often, simply because I’m too lazy in the morning to spend to much time on it. That’s also the reason I like eyeshadow sticks and pencils a lot. They are easily and quick to use and you can add some glow to your eyes and it makes you look more awake. Etude House’s Bling Bling Eyesticks are an example for easily to use eyeshadow sticks. They are available in 6 different colors. I bought this stick in a shade called “Gold Tail Star” at www.keautystore.com.

The packaging is compared to Etude House’s normally very girly packaging not really special. The color of it is simply black, with the name of the stick written on it. It has a simple cap, to protect the stick and it works via twisting mechanism, so you can wind up the eyeshadow stick. At the bottom of the stick you can see which color you are using.

“Gold Tail Star” is a golden shimmery eye shadow color. I love using it under my eyes, but it looks good on the eyelids, too, giving a soft spark. It is super easy to use in both ways. It glides smoothly on the skin, but since the skin around the eyes is extra sensitive, don’t scrub it too hard over it :)

I like this eyestick, because it is very easy to use and it has a travel friendly size (it’s shorter than most pens and pencils are). It is also really affordable in my eyes, although the prices seem to vary a bit (I bought mine at Keautystore because I’ve earned some credit there by writing reviews, so I paid actually almost nothing for it). You should have a look at ebay, too, if you are interested in buying these. The only downside of these eyeshadow sticks are, that they are not smudgeproof. If you have oily lids I would recommend you to use a eyeshadow primer in order to extend the wearability and prevent creasing. I don’t have oily lids myself, but even I am totally surprised what a difference wearing an eyeshadow base can make (I’m using a cheap drugstore eyeshadowbase, so it doesn’t have to be something high end to do the difference).
You can buy these eyeshadow stick here:

keautystore for US$ 7.90 (no free shipping option, only registered mail. You can get 5% discount using this coupon code >>here<<)

W2Beauty for US$ 7.00 (free shipping option. You’ll get a 5$ voucher upon registration with this link, which is usable for orders of minimum 30$)

Twofacemall for US$ 5.25 ( free shipping option)

RoseRoseShop for US$ 3.20 (shipping depends on weight, item is on sale now and not all colors are available anymore)

Review: Beyond The God Of Patches Bye Bye Smile Lines and Panda Eyes

22. January 2014
A while ago I wrote a review to one of Beyond The God Of Patches sheet masks (click >>here<<). I’m absolutely in love with the design of these ♥ I will review the other two masks today, which are Beyond The God Of Patches Bye Bye Smile Lines and Beyond The God Of Patches Bye Bye Panda Eyes. These masks are from the Korean brand Beyond which is part of LG Household & Health Care.
Beyond The God Of Patches
These two masks have such cute and adorable illustrations and packaging design and even the instructions are accompanied with cute illustrations! First I will show you the Bye Bye Panda Eye Patches: When you open the cardboard envelops you will find the sachets containing the eyepatches.
The patches are packed separately in a plastic packaging sachet. Isn’t it cute?
  Beyond The God Of Patches
I never used that kind of gel patches before. But the instruction is pretty easy to understand. The patches are formed like the line below your eyes. You have to remove a plastic sheet before using it and then you can dispatch the gel sheet on your skin according to the cutest illustrations on the cardboard enevlope.
Since this is a gel patch it has an instant cooling effect. The scent is like the previous sheet mask I reviewed and very pleasant and calming and reminds me of Laneige’s Sleeping Pack. Since I used these patches only one time I cannot say anything about their whitening effect. After one use I didn’t see any changes in my dark circles, but my eyes looked definitively less hollow and more supple than before. I recognised the effect instantly in front of the mirror. It does a great job in moisturizing and cooling which helped to achieve this effect for sure.
The second mask is called Bye Bye Smile Lines and it is designed for the lines around your mouth. The shape of these patches again is perfectly made for this area and the instruction is pretty straight forward due to the illustrations ♥
Beyond The God Of Patches
The packaging is similar to the previous one and inside the cardboard envelope you will find the sachet with the patches.
Beyond The God Of Patches
The patches are again packed separately and protected by a plastic foil.
Beyond The God Of Patches
These patches had the same scent like the other ones and it was the same pleasant and non-disturbing scent. The skin feels pretty good moisturized and the skin looks refreshed and supple.
Below you can see how the gel patches look like after I’ve used them. Pretty much all of the moisture is already gone, my skin seems to be thirsty XD.
Beyond The God Of Patches

I’m absolutely happy with these gel patches for the under-eye area and the smile lines. Of course the cute packaging was the main reason to buy these but the results were also satistfying in terms of moisturization and cooling. I felt pampered and enjoyed the experience of using the patches and I would repurchase them any time. I bought these at www.testerkorea.com for 2500 Won which is around US$ 2.50. Shipping depends on the weight of the goods you buy. The patches are also available on amazon for 5 US$ or in larger quantities on ebay

Review: The Dolly Eye Circle S-9 Series ♥sponsored♥

16. January 2014
I received a pair of contact lenses during the holidays from The Dolly Eye, an online store selling circle lenses, hair pieces, cosmetics and accesoires. The lenses name is “The Dolly Eye S-9 Series” and the color I received is grey.

The vials have a cute and girly design and are a bit smaller than the vials you normally get. The lenses came together with a simple lenscase, too.
The properties of the lenses is written on the web page of The Dolly Eye:
Two sterile daily wear soft contact lenses 45% methafilconA, 38% water, immersed in 0.9%buffered saline.
Lens technical details:
  • Diameter: 15.0mm
  • Water Content: 38%
  • Base Curve: 8.6mm
  • 3 months contact lenses
The design of the lenses looks really beautiful. It has some playful ornamental swirls in it. The border of the lenses is not straight but has a frayed design. I like the pattern, it is something special, compared to the standard, zwo colored lenses.
Let’s see how they look if you wear these lenses:
Design:
As I said above, I like the design of the lenses, because they are not as boring as the standard design for two colored lenses for example. Nevertheless these lenses look very artificial in flash photography. In natural light they look much better. Unfortunatelly, I think my eyecolor is too light for these, because they don’t blend in perfectly.
Comfort:

You can wear them a couple of hours, but they are not super comfy, probably because of the diameter.
Enlargement:
Enlargement is really huge since these lenses have a diameter of 15 mm! I have to say, that due to the design and the large diameter they do not blend in perfectly with my natural eye color. I think they will look much better on someone with darker brown or black eyes.
Shipping:
The package arrived quickly, but there was just a thick layer of paper around the vials for protection. I think bubble wrap would have been safer, although nothing happened anyway.

Did anyone try these lenses before? You can get them >>here<<  for US$27.99. Thanks again for The Dolly Eye for sending me these lenses. Please have a look at their store:

Trustworthy Shops for Asian Cosmetics Part I or “How I started to get addicted”

15. January 2014
The last year passed so fast, I barely didn’t realize that I was having this blog for almost a year now. It’s funny how you start with something just out of fun, and suddenly you have like a real schedule and you start planning when you will do which review and what information you still need to add to a certain post. I never even imagined that there would be people following my blog and even commenting on stuff, but it seems I was wrong about this and I’m really happy that I was! ♥ Todays post will be the start of several posts I want to do over the next weeks describing the online shops I made good experiences with. I will start off with the very first seller I bought Asian cosmetics from: RoseRoseShop (stand alone online shop) or also known as RubyRuby76 (ebay seller).

I remember how I stumbled over a post about Korean BB creams and how the name of a Korean brand called “Missha” was placed into my head. In that moment I started to look for information about that brand and about BB creams in general and I really wanted to try a BB cream but I didn’t know where to buy it and how safe if would be to order online. Finally, after many thoughts, I had a look at ebay and I discovered Missha’s Perfect Cover BB cream offered my the seller RubyRuby76. I placed my first order for a Korean product, hoping it would arrive safely,and- more important-that I would like this BB cream. What happened then? I loved this BB cream and it is my favourite BB cream since today, despite having tried other BB creams by now. Moreover, I started to get to know more Asian brands and today most of the products I use are from asian brands and I’m completely happy with it.

I used the ebay shop RubyRuby76 several times and I was always happy about a good delivery time and free shipping. And I never had any problems with their packages, neither for custom fees, nor for damaged products and stuff like this. I can recommend to try their ebay shop, especially to those who never bought Asian cosmetics online before.
Eventually they started to create a stand-alone online shop called RoseRoseShop with really reasonable prices and options for wholeseller and ordering in larger quantities. Their layout is easily to navigate and offers you to search either by brand or by category.
The shipping costs are always listed in the check out and are reasonable and calculated by weight. If you like to make bulk orders, the shop is really a nice choice. For single items I prefer the ebay shop, especially since it has free shipping. If you sign in for their newsletter, you’ll get coupon codes for 10% discount, but they will show you a valid coupon code during your check-out as well. From time to time they have various sale events where you can get really good deals on certain brands. If you make an order at RoseRoseShop you have the opportunity to request samples for your order, so you will get freebies, too. You have to go to the Forum section of the shop, write them your order number and ask for samples, that’s all! And everybody loves free samples, I guess XD.
You’ll find another great review – which I discovered by chance just right now on google – about RoseRoseShop on Sample Hime’s blog. Since I love her blog and she is always very honest and straightforward on her opinions you might check this one out as well: http://samplehime.blogspot.de/2014/01/introducing-my-new-sponsor.html

Review: Missha Super Aqua Ultra Waterfull Cream and Gel Serum

9. January 2014
As I told before, I’m trying to get rid of all the samples I collected and I discovered that I had a huge pile of Missha Super Aqua Ultra Waterfull Cream and Gel Serum Samples. I used them all last year and now here is my review for them finally :D

Some of you might already know, but I have to mention that I have dry skin, especially in winter like now. I’m always looking for good moisturizing creams and one of my favourite moisturizers is Missha’s Super Aqua Ultra Marine Stem Cell Defending Cream, which was one of my first reviews on this blog :D I had high hopes for this Cream from Missha’s Super Aqua line and I was not disappointed.

I’ll start of with the cream: This cream comes in a jar in full size and looks elegant in my eyes. The sample packaging is not any special, it just shows the image of the full size product on the front. The sample sachets contain only little in my eyes. The ones for the cream contain 1 ml only.
The description on Missha’s Official US page says:
Inspired by the moisture preserving ability of desert plants, the Super Aqua Ultra Waterfull Cream activates the moisture preserving ability to keep skin hydrated throughout the seasons.
The main ingredients are: mineral water, baobab oil, Imperata Cylindrica root extract, Adenium Obesum, jojoba oil and Trehalose. These are natural ingredients which all have moisturizing benefits.

The cream itself has a creamy, thick consistency, in contrast to the Missha super Aqua Marine Stem Cell Defending cream, which was a mixture between a cream and a gel. Due to the consistency of the cream, this product is very rich and a little amount goes a long way. If you use too much, your skin can not absorb it and it will look greasy. With the right amount it absorbs into the skin quickly and really makes the skin feel supple and soft. Actually, the fact that you only need a bit of the product each time, makes the price of the full size product quite okay. Although it is more on the expensive side of moisturizers generally seen. The full sized jar contains 47 ml and costs 30 US$. Like Missha’s Super Aqua Marine Stem Cell Defending Cream it contains a spatula to spoon out the product and keep it more hygienic. The scent of the cream is fresh, but pleasant in my eyes.

Let’s talk about Missha’s Super Aqua Ultra Waterfull Gel Serum now. Missha’s Super Aqua Ultra Waterfull Serum is the perfect serum if your skin is really very dry.

I thought this serum would be more fluid, like water, but it has a semi fluid consistency, like oil for example (but it is not oily!). Thus it is called Gel Serum, I guess ^_^”’ It absorbs super fast into the skin and makes it feel really nice. The skin looks in a way dewy and fresh and the feeling stays throughout the day.

Compared to the cream it is rather scentless, but also here the sample sachet only contains 2 ml which is enough for two times use at the most. The full sized product comes in a tube with a pump, which is convenient for this type of product. It contains 40 ml and costs around US$30. Actually I didn’t find this serum on Missha’s US site.

All in all, If you have dry skin and you are looking for a good moisturizer, this one will not fail you. It makes everything you require from a good moisturizer. If you have oily skin, this line might be to intense/rich for you. The cream is definitely something I personally could buy for myself. since the amount you need to use is rather little, the price is okay all-in-all, although still expansive. I can give these two products only full rating, but considering the price it would have been sad if it was different.

Review: Geo Princess Mimi Sesame Grey Bambi Series ♥sponsored♥

24. December 2013
♥ Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you have some nice holidays ♥

My first pair of circle lenses were Geo Princess Mimi Apple Green (review >>here<<) and since then I was always very curious about the Geo Princess Mimi Sesame Grey (Bambi Series) lenses of this series and I’m happy that MapleLens send these lenses to me. The circle lens pattern is designed by Tsubasa Masuwaka, one of the most influential and popular Japanese teen models. She is also modelling in the advertise of those lenses and she looks gorgeous with all of the lenses.

As before, when I got lenses from MapleLens they arrived pretty fast via EMS. They were packed safely and came in a cute present box together with an animal lens case in shape of an elephant *_*

Here are the properties for the lenses:
Diameter : 15.0mm
Water Content : 42%
Base Curve : 8.7mm
Life Span : 1 Year Disposal
Design:
I like the design! The colors blend in nicely with my natural brown eye color. there are brown dots towards the center of the lenses which design a nice blending effect. I was happy with the design of the green ones, too, and these are the same.
Comfort:
Although I should wear toric lenses, I could wear this lenses for quite a while. After 3 hours I applied some eye drops and then it was no problem to wear them for another 4 hours. The diameter of the lenses was no problem at all, but I’m used to use contacts every day anyways.
Enlargement:
Enlargement is really huge! The thick black circle ring makes your eyes really big and dolly. If you apply some eye make-up it looks nice and not too much like an alien :D But if you want to use them without any make up they can easily look strange.
Shipping:
Super fast shipping thanks to EMS.♥
Below you can see how these lenses look on my eyes.
All in all these lenses are perfect if you want to create a dolly effect. Because of the black outward circle they do not look natural, but really like doll’s eyes. If you are looking for a huge enlargement I can recommend you to go for these. If you like natural lenses more, then I don’t think these are a good choice. I really like the color and the effect, but I don’t wear these lenses every day.
You can buy these lenses at MapleLens for US$ 20.90. Check out the facebook page, too: https://www.facebook.com/MapleLens

Review: Nature Republic Fresh Hawaiian Mango Pack

16. December 2013
I tried one of these Hawaiian Fresh Masks from Nature Republic a while ago, and here is the second one I tried. As I already said in the previous review about the Hawaiian Fresh Seaweed Pack here, there are three different packs you can try: Hawaiian Fresh Seaweed Pack, Hawaiian Fresh Mango Pack and Hawaiian Fresh Pineapple Pack. The packs are available either in a tube for several time usage, or for single use in a cute little plastic container. I’m reviewing Nature Republic Hawaiian Fresh Mango Pack today, which works as a wash-off mask in contrast to the peel-off effect of the Seaweed Pack.

I’m still in love with the tropical packaging design which reminds me of summer, even now though it is almost freezing and I’m coughing all the time and having a cold :'(…I wish it will be summer soon….
By the way, I love Mango, that’s the first place why I bought this pack.
In contrast to the Seaweed Pack this one is not sticky or gluey in the first place. When you open the pack you will recognize the sweet and fruity scent, which is really nice. And the consistency of the product reminds me of some mango puree…but the scent is not the scent of mango. At least I imagined it to be somehow different. But it is fruity and nice nevertheless.
The content of the pack was enough for two times. The first time my skin reacted sensitive and I was disappointed first, but I figured out that this reaction was caused by another product I used. the second time I could observe the direct effects of this pack, which were a super soft and nourished skin. I loved the feel of my skin. I loved the peel-off mask, too, but the seaweed pack was more on the refreshing, clean feeling side and this one really seems to get eaten by the skin. ♥
All in all I was really happy with both these masks and I will be thinking of getting them again, after I have used up some of the other packs flying around in my room XD If you like exotic packs, I can recommend you to try it.
The full sized tube contains 120 ml and the small pack contains 8 ml.You can get it at testerkorea for 7500 Won (~8 US$) and 1500 Won (~2 US$), respectively. Shipping depends on weight. Or you can get the large tubes on beautynetkorea for around 10 US$ with free shipping.
