Review: I’m from Ginseng Serum

I’m so happy to present to you another serum that has become a fixed part in my skincare routine. A while ago I received this new I’m from Ginseng Serum from Wishtrend for reviewing purpose and I’ve been using it every day since then. I’ve been so curious to try a ginseng serum since some time now and seeing that I’m from has newly launched products containing Ginseng made me really curious. I’ve been loving the I’m from Honey Mask so I had high expectations and hopes for this product, too.

I’m from is a Korean brand with the motto “a good cosmetics with a good ingredient”. I’m from is using natural ingredients in their cosmetics, and they want to be honest and quality provider. They have three promises to their customers, being 1. open composition, which means known ingredients, 2. Honest Farm, meaning honest ingredients with a true origin, and 3. being free of harmful chemicals. The I’m from Ginseng Serum is packed in a brown cardboard box with an imprinted pattern of ginseng. The brown color makes it look quite traditional in my opinion. Inside the cardboard box, you will find a 30 ml glass bottle with a dropper attached to the cap.

The I’m from Ginseng Serum is targeting nourishment, rejuvenation and has anti-aging properties. It gives elasticity to mid-aged skin containing concentrated ginseng extract.

The ingredients of the serum are listed on the cardboard packaging:

You can find the ingredients list on COSDNA, too. Red Ginseng Extract is the key ingredient of the serum, but you will also find other ingredients listed, that is always welcome in my skincare: the serum also contains green tea leaf extract, ginseng oil, licorice root extract, and a couple of other plant-derived extracts. It also contains hyaluronic acid for moisturization. There are some remarks for the ingredients list though: the product also contains Cyclopentasiloxane, a cyclic silicon derivate that temporarily plumps the skin and makes it feel softer. It also enables other silicon products to absorb better into the skin and is often used together with Dimethiconol, like you will find here, too. Dimethiconol is a lipid on silicon basic that makes the skin feel soft but doesn’t feel greasy. Although it is on silicon basis it has a positive effect on the skin, because it enhances the moisture content of the skin to keep it hydrated. But, if you are generally avoiding silicons this product is not suited for you.

Ginseng

The I’m from Ginseng Serum contains 7.98 % red ginseng extract. Ginseng extract has the properties to enhance the blood circulation. It contains a large number of phytonutrients which have anti-aging properties and effect on the skin, like stimulating the collagen production. Ginseng also contains many vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. All these properties act positively on your skin and its appearance making it look more lively and plump and younger.

I received this serum as part of the beauty tester program and I’ve been using it every day since, mostly twice a day. This jelly, golden serum applies nicely and feels moist on the skin. It has a nice ginseng scent with a rose scent undertone. The scent is very present, so it is may be difficult to handle for scent sensitive people. It absorbs quickly but leaves the skin slightly sticky at first, but this feeling vanishes after some time. There is no greasy film left on the skin and the skin feels soft and smooth (due to the silicons). The serum makes the skin feel more bouncy and plump and it also makes the skin appear more glowy and healthy after using it. In terms of anti-aging, it is hard to say if it reduces the wrinkles or not. So far I didn’t see any visible changes here.

I personally enjoy using this serum a lot. I love the scent and the texture of the serum. I also love the effect it has considering the improved elasticity on the skin. I have to point out nevertheless, that the smooth feeling of the skin is mainly caused by the silicons in the ingredients list. Also, for people who are scent sensitive, the scent will be too strong I guess. This is the first serum I used containing highly concentrated ginseng, and to be honest I’m now curious to compare it with other ginseng serum.

Review: Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum

If you are a reader of my blog for some time you might wonder about this review, since I already reviewed the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum in the past. But time has passed and it has been renewed since then, so I wanted to have an updated review for this product. I can say that the brand Klairs has introduced me to some really awesome product, and for those with sensitive skin I can really recommend you to try the one or the other product from this brand. Okay, let’s go ahead with this review now:

Klairs is a Korean brand sold and by Wishtrend. It is eco-friendly, claiming to produce products which are animal-testing-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, and artificial-color-free. Their products adress people with sensitive skin and people who want to moisturize their skin. I reviewed some of their products before, like the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum or the Klairs Midnight Blue Cream, which both convinced me in their effects. I also love the Klairs Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, which by the way has been updated and improved, too. The Klairs Rioch Moist Soothing Serum is part of the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing line of Klairs.

The renewed Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum comes – similar to the old version – packed in a cardboard box with a minimalist and simple design. It contains desription in English and Korean. The product comes in a pump bottle, which is larger than the old version and also is made of a clear colored hard plastic. The volume is now 80 ml instead of the former 50 ml. I remember that this was my main downside for the product, because I used it up within a very short time back than. The clear bottle is also nicer to see how much serum is left in the bottle. The brown colored bottle of the old version made it also possible to see what is inside, but not as clearly as now.

The Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum is designed for moisturizing and soothing the skin with help of a rich blend of organic complexes. It contains the patented ingredient Phyto-Oligo, Hyaluronic Acid, Green Tea Extract, and beta-Glucan as key ingredients, but there are much more:

You can check the ingredients via COSDNA. I discovered that they have removed or replaced the doubtful ingredients from the first formulation, and now there are much less irritating ingredients and potential acne triggers included.

Like with the old version I really love that the serum comes in a pump bottle. It makes it not only easier to apply, but also more hygienic. According to Wishtrend they also managed to enhance the absorption and texture of the serum. Since a long time has passed since I tried the old version it is now hard to tell for me.

The texture of the serum is still the same gel-type clear liquid. It feels cooling and moisturizing and even after absorbing you will feel the cooling effect of the serum on your skin. This is maybe one of the properties of this serum that make it very suitable for irritated and heated skin. You will really feel how it cools you down. It does not leave any finish, but simply is absorbed completelly. It is not sticky either. The scent is fresh, but fades quickly, so it should not be a problem for people that are sensitive to scents.

Here is my promised review about the Jungle Botanics Natural Body Glow Nutshell Scrub which was sent to me by Wishtrend. I talked about the hair care products from this newly launched brand Jungle Botanics previously, and all in all I am very pleased with this new brand and the products I tested. Here is my impression, not about hair care, but about body care:

I love body scrubs! Especially, when I feel my skin is dry and I have flakes of dry skin clinging around there is nothing better than removing those unwanted flakes with a good body scrub and use a rich body moisturizer afterwards! Also, if you are using spray tan or similar a good body scrub is your best friend! Body scrubs are designed to give you smooth, glowing and healthy skin!

The ingredients of the Jungle Botanics Natural Body Glow Nutshell Scrub are listed below and you can check them via COSDNA, too! You can see that the scrub uses walnut shell powder for achieving a perfect and environmental friendly scrub of your skin. So no microbeads here! Yei! The scrub comes in a beautiful bronze/brown tube packaging and contains 250 ml. The product has a soft consistency with very fine walnut shell particles visible. The Walnut Shell Powder is round-cut and fine as sand and doesn’t hurt the skin. Therefore it is non irritating and suited for more sensitive skin types, too.

The ingredients list contains cacao seed butter plus 10 other plant derived oils. Moreover it contains Pseudizyma epicola ferment filtrate. Also here, the majority of the ingredients is green-labelled, but still there are some potential irritants and triggers which should be considered before using them, especially for allergic people. There is a red-labelled ingredient, too, which I discussed in one previous review of the Wish Formula C200 Bubble Peeling Pad, the Cocamide DEA. For rinse off products it is safe to use, but also depends on the concentration. So please be sure to patch test before using it.

The Jungle Botanics Natural Body Glow Nutshell Scrub has a mousse texture, which comes with a bronze color (fits to the packaging) and tiny granules, which appear like sand first. They allow a very fine and soft scrub, but also melt away nicely on the wet skin and even form some foam while rinsing. The smell of the product is very nice, but hard to describe for me.

I love this body scrub and I almost used it up already. My bf uses it aswell, so it seems it will not be long-lasting. The best part is of corse that it is free from microbeads! Review: Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Cooling Shampoo and Warming Treatment

I love trying out asian hair products and I have some favorites in my list already. Still, I’m always on the look for new discoveries, so when Wishtrend asked me whether I wanted to try their new line of products from the brand Jungle Botanics I agreed directly. I received the Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Cooling Shampoo and Warming Treatment, but also the Jungle Botanics Natural Body Glow Nutshell Scrub, which will be reviewed in a separate post.

Jungle Botanics is a brand created by Wishtrend. According to its description it brings to you the vitality of the green jungle by combining advanced technologies with natural ingredients. The Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Cooling Shampoo and Forest Leaves Warming Treatment is designed to cool down your heat irritated scalp and gives back moisture to dry and damaged hair.

The Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves hair care line consists of a shampoo and a treatment. Both come packed in a simple white cardboard box with a very soft imprint of jungle forest leaves. The tubes of this hair care line is beautifully designed with the same leaves, but this time in lovely green colors. It fits perfectly to the name of the brand.

The shampoo comes in a pump bottle containing 250 ml. It is designed to help with cooling the scalp and reduce itching of the scalp. Interestingly, the shampoo contains small menthyl beads which dissolve and have a cooling effect on your scalp. The scent of the shampoo was also a fresh mint scent which supports the cooling effect even more. I need two-three pumps for my long hair and it gives a nice foam, but it is not too rich or overly foaming. The hair feels clean after using it and give the hair more volume. It has an acidic formula, so it balances the pH of your hair (read Evelyns great post on why the pH of your hair care is important >>here<<).

After shampoo I always use the treatment, which makes the hair feel unbelievingly smooth and easy to comb! I love the treatment, especially if I leave it in my hair for a couple of minutes as suggested. The treatment has no mint scent, but a nice sweet-flowery scent instead. Although being so effectively softening and smoothing, the treatment doesn’t make the hair feel greasy or heavy, but still after using both shampoo and treatment my hair feels clean, and lightweight. The treatment contains pracaxi fruit and brazilian nuts, which are rich in anti-oxidants. But also Avocado oil, argan oil, camelia oil and many more, for keeping your hair nourished! The warming effect is described to open up the cuticle, so the nutrients can be absorbed by your hair, but I didn’t feel any significant warming effect. The treatment comes in a tube containing 200 ml.

The Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Cooling Shampoo and Forest Leaves Warming Treatment do not use silicon or phthalate, but a so-called Amazon Forest Complex. The ingredients of both the shampoo and the treatment are listed below:

Asian Beauty Blog Party: Travel Essentials

Today’s post for the Asian Beauty Blog Party will be about our Travel Essentials. Since summer is approaching and many people will be on vacation within the next months this is the best time to share the content of my travel bag and which items I’m always carrying with.
The key items I’m talking about is not what kind of clothes I will take with me, but rather what is inside my cosmetics pouch,..everything besides swimsuits, sunglasses, and towels. I have quite many cosmetics pouches in different sizes, so I can choose which one to take with me according to the amount of skincare products and days I’m spending away from home.

For cleansing I love cleansing tissues for short trips and solid or balmtype cleaners for longer stays. Another great thing for travelling are powder type cleansers. I only did a short instagram impression capture of the Skinmiso Handy Travel Kit, but I really do love this one, because it is a bit more than only a regular cleansing tissue. It comes with 2 soaked cleansing pads and some cotton swabs including eye make-up remover. These are perfect for festivals or a one or two-day short trip. With solid cleansing sticks like the Sum 37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick or my new 23yearsold Yellow Rubber Cleansing Stick (review upcoming soon) you don’t risk leaking of your cleanser and they are usually working as first and second cleansers together, so they are great for travelling, too. Powder type cleansers also keep the leakage at bay, but keep in mind to protect them from humidity!

For my skincare I usually take either sample sachet for short trips, or the deluxe travel size kits which accumulated over the time in my stash.

Most important and always my companion is sunscreen! I have multiple sunscreens with me, reaching from waterproof, to face or body suited sunscreens (here are two reviews >>click<< and >>click<<). Occasionally, especially in hot days a mist is also nice to have for refreshening. I keep my makeup simply, consisting of a cushion foundation, a cream blush, eyeliner pen, mascara and a lipstick or tint.

Review: CosRX Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion

Everytime CosRX releases a new product the whole asian beauty lover community seems to be freaking out with joy and looking forward to get their hands on it as quickly as possible. And no doubt, most of the products I tried from this brand are worth to be repurchased and additionally are really budget-friendly. So, no wonder when the CosRX Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion was launched a couple of weeks ago I was determined to buy it.

CosRX is an affordable Korean brand “offering good quality beauty items for 10 years”. The brand name is composed of Cos for cosmetics and RX for prescription. Brand like Ciracle and C20 (yes, the famous vitamin C serum) are also part of COSRX. One of the rather popular skincare lines from COSRX are the AHA/BHA skincare products. Their products feature key ingredients which show a visible effectively and a simple no-frills design. On top the prices of their products is affordable compared to similar products with the similar ingredients. I tried quite some CosRX products in the past and I will make a quick list of them at the end of the post (and I have still a bunch of products from this brand waiting to be tested, too!).

Going back to the CosRX Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion, the name drew me in for two reasons: the first one is the part about ‘oil-free’. With summer approaching here (very slowly of course-today morning it is still 4°C…) the skin will be more oily that usual, even for my dry skin my T-zone gets shiny during summer. In order to avoid any additional greasyness an oil-free product is of course a perfect solution! The second part is the ‘Ultra Moisturizing’ which assumes that it still contains the moisture needed for my dry skin overall.

The packaging of the CosRX ist simple as usual, still the pump bottle has a frosted material, which makes it look elegant on the other side. The bottle cones in a cardboard box with detailed English and Korean descriptions, so the ingrediento are also listed on COSDNA.

I use this emulsion and I add a second moisturizing cream on top, or at night I pair it with a sleeping cream. The emulsion has a milky almost balm-like texture with a fresh citrus scent. It disolves like a gel and leaves a fresh and moist feeling and is not greasy, as expected. The key ingredient birch sap has skin conditioning properties and leaves the skin satin-like and smooth, but hyaluronic acid, panthenol, and some other ingredients act moisturizing. I need some pumps of this emulsion to satisfyingly cover my face. I can imagine that this amount of hydration is enough for normal and oily skintypes. I still need some more moisturizers oin top. I still hope that this will be suited to wear on its own in summer. The product is also mild and doesn’t irritate the skin. I had some irritations on my cheeks some weeks ago because of the cold weather and my hot showers, and many products seem to leave a light burning sensation, but the CosRX Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion worked perfectly fine luckily.

The CosRX Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion is a good emulsion which will be widely loved by oily and normal skintypes. If you like citrus scents you will like this product even more. The fresh scent and the hydration effect combined with no greasy feeling makes this product a perfect buy for summer-time. The bottle contains 100 ml and retails for 20 US$ from Wishtrend and Beautytap. I have included this emulsion tightly into my skincare routines and I’m happy my skin likes it although it is having some problems with irritations at the moment.

Graveyard: November – February Empties 2015/2016

My last emties post was back in October! So here is a long post about my November – February Empties 2015/2016 this time. I hope this can give you an idea of which products I really liked and didn’t and which I would love to repurchase.

Moonlab Real Cooling Thermometer Mask – I loved these! I would really like to repurchase them as well, but I still have a huge amount of sheetmasks, so it will take some time until I have the chance. Read my review >>here<<. Repurchase? Yes!
Cossu Body Ade Rose – This body wash smells so amazing, given the fact that you love the scent of roses. The body wash was part of a Cleopatra themed MeMeBox and I loved using it. Unfortunately, the pump was not working properly, which made it hard to use. It was labelled with a price-tag of 29 US$, which I’m still doubtful about. For a cheaper price I would consider repurchasing it. Repurchase? Maybe.
COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner – A very good toner which I can recommend you to try. I didn’t repurchase it because I wanted to try something else, but still I can say that there are many bloggers whoc love this toner. See my review >>here<<…Repurchase? Yes.
Fairydrops Platinum Mascara Film Type – I enjoyed using it, but it started to clump quite fast. It does a good job in legthening and curving the lashes, but it doesn’t give the amount of volume I’d like to have. Here is my >>review<<. Repurchase? No.
Dove DermaSpa Goodness³ Body Lotion – This bodylotion has a nice scent, but unfortunately it starts peeling and doesn’t really sink into the skin. Read my review >>here<<. Repruchase? No!
Too Cool For School Egg Mousse Pack – I love Too Cool For School’s packaging design, no doubt about that, and this pack made the skin tightened and smooth, but I couldn’t use it too often because of my dry skin. People with oily skin might love this, or if you have dry/combination skin apply it only on your T-zone. Here is my >>review<< Repurchase? Maybe.
Nivea In-Shower Make-Up Remover – This didn’t work for me. I tried it in the shower, I tried it on its own. It simply doesn’t work the way it claims, I still have panda-eyes after using it and my makeup isn’t removed. Repruchase? No!
Innisfree Ampoule Intense Cushion – The first Cushion I used up, after flipping the cushion over and over and getting out all the mini-bits from this awesome bb cream. I still have two refills, so I’m really happy and can advise you to give it a try, especially in cold seasons. Read my review >>here<<. Repurchase? Yes!
Shiseido Extra Gentle Shampoo For Dry Hair – A good shampoo, which didn’T feel drying on my hair, but still I preferr the Shiseido Tsubaki Shampoo over this one. Repurchase? Another shampoo from Shiseido maybe.
Lush The Olive Branch – A mediterranian smelling shower gel with a herbal scent. This was nice, but a kind of more manly scent. Repurchase? Probably not this one exactly.
HIPP Shampoo and Showering – I bought this for the obvious reason of the Seal packaging! It’s kid’s shampoo and has a nice baby-powdery scent and is gentle. Repurchase? Yes!
Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner Pen – I love this pen! A pitty the pretty ornaments were vanishing by the time. Read my review >>here<<. Repurchase? Yes, but there are so many other brands to try.
Avène Very High Sunprotection 50 + – This is a really heavy sunscreen and it leaves a good thick white cast and has a neutral cream scent (which I do not like that much). Repurchase? No!
Too Cool For School Egg Mousse Soap – This super rich and dense foam was really fun, but to drying to use on my face, so I used it as shaving foam. Read my review >>here<<. Repurchase? No.
Figs & Rouge Lip Balm Cherry Blossom – This had a bad taste the second moment, so I didn’t really use it up. Also, I’m not much into cherry scented products. Repurchase? No.
Schwarzkopf GlissKur Damage Repair Hair Treatment – I love this line of hair care because it smells of chocolate. I also liked using this hair treatment. Repurchase? Yes.
Purederm Make-up Cleansing Tissue Green Tea – These were part of a MeMeBox, too. I really like Cleansing Tissues, especially after a long night when you are too lazy to cleanse your face or when travelling. Unfortunatelly, these were’nt the most effective tissues I used. Repurchase? No.
COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch – My secret weapon for a newly appearing pimple. I still have more of these, but I wanted to pint out that I really love them. See my review >>here<<. Repurchase? Yes.
a;t fox Lifting Cream and Moisturizing Gel Cream – Another product from my MeMeBox hoardings. Such a lovely packaging, but the creams were so-so. Nothing special. Repurchase? No.
Palmolive Aroma Sensations Feel Glamorous Shower Gel Peeling – a lovely shower peeling with a nice scent. Repruchase? Maybe.
bebe Young Care (Johnson’s) Smoothie Shower Gel – Loved the scent! Repurchase? Maybe.
Rojukiss Multi Vita Cleansing Powder – This is the first cleansing powder I’ve been trying. I really like the fact that cleansing powders are so leightweight and perfect for travelling because there is no danger of leaking. I discovered that there is a risk of them to clump when stored in humid places (like the bathroom). Read my review >>here<<. Repurchase? MAybe another cleansing powder.
Kneipp Bath Oil – I have a couple more of these and I like the scent a lot. I like Kneipp products in genereal :D Repurchase? Maybe.
Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo – The size of this was perfect for travelling. Unfortunatelly the spraying nozzle didn’T work anymore after 3 uses and I had to discard it. Repurchase? Maybe.
ISANA Young Make-up Remover and Cleansing Gel – A cheap drugstore cleanser. I didn’t like the scent and it is not the most effective makeup remover either. Repurchase? No.
Kneipp Almond Blossoms Showering Gel – They have a body oil from the same line and I’m so much in love with the scent! Repurchase? Yes!
Klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream – A BB cream which I can totally recommend. I was using it way more often on everyday occasions than my other BB creams. It has a nice tone and leaves a nice finish as well. Read my review >>here<<. Repurchase? Yes, but I have too many BB creams to use up.
Trusted Health Products Botanical Splash Body Oil – A body oil with a fruity orange-citrus scent which is very refreshening.Read my review >>here<< Repurchase? Maybe.
Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo – This thick brown herbal shampoo works nicely, but can be leaving your hair dry. I used a hair treatment alweays after using it. This is only a travel-sized bottle, I still have the large bottle to use up. Read my review >>here<<. Repurchase? No, I’ll stick to my Shiseido or Damoae Therapy Shampoo, which I adore both!
OST C20 Pure Vitamin C21.5 Advanced Serum – This was my second bottle of the C21.5 Vitamin C serum, but unfortunately, I dropped the bottle when I was half through it and all the rest of my precious serum was lost T_T Read my review >>here<<. Repurchase? Yes.

Balea Cleansing Oil – If you have the possibility to get Balea products I can recommend you this cheap cleansing oil from the drug store dm. It costs a few euros (2-3 €) and is a good makeup remover. Still, asian cleansing oils have a nicer scent and seem to be more luxurious to the skin, but for quickly and simply cleansing your face this is great. It is also great for cleaning your makeup brushes and sponges. Repurchase? Yes!
BRTC Aqua Rush Cream – Wow! I used this up so quickly, despite having many other moisturizers to be tried. I loved the waterdrop texture of this cream. It was so refreshening. Read my review >>here<<. Repurchse? Maybe!
ElishaCoy Vita Capsule Cleanser – I didn’t review this product yet, although I hav it for quite a time. It was not my cup of tea to be honest and too drying on top, but it came with the ElishaCoy 3D Spin Cleanser (which is not available any longer on Wishtrend it seems), which I enjoy using few times a week. Repurchase? No.
Confume Argan Gold Treatment – I didn’t review this in detail yet, but I loved it! I used it up so quickly, too! Definitively recommendable for those having dry and frizzy hair! Also available on Wishtrend. Repruchase? Yes!
Coréana Sho EGFactor 28 Days Timeless Program Eye Cream – This was a good and nourishing ey ecream and had a really nice packaging, shaped like a seringe. I used up two of these and really liked it. Read my review >>here<<. Repurchase? Maybe.

Review: Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream

When I tried out the first product from the brand Klairs I would have never thought of that it becomes one of my favorite skincare brands. I’ve tried so many of their products and there wasn’t a single one which I despised. Now, I was able to try their newest product, the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream which will be launching on 10th of March. Klairs is a Korean brand sold on Wishtrend. It is eco-friendly, claiming to produce products which are animal-testing-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, and artificial-color-free. Their products adress people with sensitive skin and people who want to moisturize their skin. I reviewed some of their products before, like the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum or the Klairs Gentle Black Cleansing Combo, which both convinced me in their effects. I also did like the Klairs Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, which by the way has been updated and improved recently to a larger volume and more moisturizing ingredients. The new Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream was designed for those people loving the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing line, but still had concerns about irritated skin. Here is the explanation by Klairs:

“The KLAIRS’ Rich Moist Soothing line is loved for its excellent calming & moisturizing effects by many consumers. We believe the primary reason for the popularity of the Soothing line was due to the high satisfaction most of our customers felt from the powerful moisturizing effect. However, we wanted to design the optimal product for the few customers who were still experiencing irritations from external stimuli with additional skin concerns. After a long-term of researching with the R&D team, the KLAIRS’s Midnight Blue Calming Cream was created to go that extra mile.”

So the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream is a comforting moisture cream that provides the skin with intense, soothing hydration. It is designed for targeting the irritated areas of the face and therefore is mainly used for smaller areas, but can be spread easily and also used on the full face. The cream comes in the typical Klairs design with simple packaging and vintage-esque appearance. The cardboard box has the English and the Korean description available and you can check the full ingredients >>here<<. The cream is formulated using guaiazulene combined with Centella asiatica extract and various peptides to recover damaged skin cells from stress and stimulation.

Guaiazulene: Guaiazulene is a herbal ingredient extracted from Chamomille. Due to its natural purple color the cream appears blue. It has soothing and cooling properties on inflammation and damaged skin and also affects skin regeneration. It is often used as ingredient for burn ointments.

Centella Asiatica Extract : This extract has healing properties and helps regenerating damaged skin and preventing scars. It is anti-inflammatory and has skin conditioning properties.

Other ingredients as Sodium Hyaluronate, Ceramide 3, Butyrospermum, Parkii (Shea Butter), Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil have moisturizing properties. Also, you will spot soybean ferment extract in the list. Unfortunately, the cream also contains Triethanol amine and a few potential irritants, so be sure to check whether you are allergic to any of the ingredients. The cream also contains three different peptides: SH-Polypeptide-1, SH-Polypeptide-9, and SH-Polypeptide-11. I talked about peptides in my review for the Proformula Skin Reset AHA 7 Lifting Pack.

The directions for use are to apply a small amount on the affected area in the morning and evening after using toner and serum as last step of the skincare routine. Wait until it absorbs fully, so your makeup will not pile up. The cream is a blue cream, as described above and it has the classic facial cream consistency, except for the color. The Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream comes with a spoon/ spatula and you can take out the cream out of the jar without using your fingers. The blue color is gorgeous, but even more amazing is the herbal scent the cream has. It is not a bitter herbal-flowery scent, which I do not like, but it has the scent of fresh herbs from a meadow with wild flowers growing all over….that’s my imagination at least :D It does contain Ylang Ylang and Eucalyptus, too…and a Camomile of course. I love the scent! The cream is easy to spread and also doesn’t take to long to absorb. It dries off matte and doesn’t leave any greasy residues. It is not a deep moisturizer, but it doesn’t claim to be one, so if you have dry skin you can or should still keep using a moisturizer with this cream. I’m still not sure if it is best to apply the midnight blue cream before the moisturizer or after. I tried both, but I didn’t feel any differences between the two ways. I personally think it makes more sense to apply the calming cream first onto the desired areas and add a moisturizer on top. What are your suggestions?

Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream Vs. Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream

The first question I had in mind was how the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream compares to the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream? I used up my first jar of the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream super quickly, because I liked the texture and it was nicely spreadable onto the skin. I’ve started a second ja recently. The most obvious difference between the two cream is the color, which is resulting in the different key ingredients. The Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream has Glycerine and Hyaluronic Acid as main moisturizing ingredients, but also contains a lot of plant extracts. Moreover it contains yeast derived Beta-Glucan for soothing and also Ceramide 3. Unlike the Midnight Blue Cream it doesn’t come with a spatula. The spreadability of both creams is similar, but the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream absorbs few seconds more quickly than the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream. Unfortunately, I do not have any meassures to compare the amount of moisture each of these creams is providing, but once absorbed both creams are not greasy but dry off matte. I think that the two creams make a good duo for using on the skin on almost all skintypes (of course given the fact that your skin doesn’t have any allergies to any of the ingredients).

I propapbly do not have to repeat myself and tell you how much I like the brand Klairs. Having tried almost all their products I can say that I like both the Klairs creams and I think that the new Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream is a great addition to the rich moist soothing line. I can recommend you to try the cream! Grab your chances and be one of the 20 testers for this cream or wait until it launches on March 10th. I’ve mentioned a couple of times that I love including vitamin C serum in my skincare routine. I’ve tried a couple of them already, but Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop was not on my list yet. I was very happy, that Wishtrend asked me whether I wanted to try this rather newly launched vitamin C serum because I’ve been very happy with all of the Klairs products I tried so far. Let’s see how the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum performs!

But let us return to the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop for this post.

Klairs is known for very simple packaging design, reminding me of the brand Kiehl’s for example. compared to the other products the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum has not just a simple black and white packaging but has imprinted a holographic illustration of the bottle on the cardboard box. I really love how colorful the packaging is, depending on where the light shines on it. And yet, the packaging design is clean like we are used to from this brand. The vitamin C serum comes in a clear, thick plastic bottle with a dropper…WAIT?! What? A clear bottle for a vitamin C serum?! But we know that vitamin C oxidizes with sunlight exposure. This is the reason while a serum like C20 is packed in a brown glass bottle! A closer look at the bottle reveals the sentence: “Hybrid Stabilization Technology”. It seems the ascorbic acid used in this serum is stabilized and thus not so prone towards oxidization according to Klairs. I know that ways to stabilize vitamin C are ferulic acid or vitamin E. Both of these are not included in the ingredient list as far as I can tell. Another way to have stabilized vitamin C is to use derivates. I see that the ingredient list contains also Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, which is a stable and water-soluble derivate of ascorbic acid. Nevertheless, I still do not know how they manage to stabilize the ascorbic acid listed as the third ingredient in the list. The product description it is stated that you should keep the product cool, dry and avoid its exposure to sunlight.…okay, why don’t they just make the bottle darker then?! Maybe because of the content of only 5% of vitamin C the effect of whether vitamin C is still stable or already oxidized is too small to feel the difference? I don’t know to be honest. I would recommend you store it in a dark place or simply inside the cardboard box anyways…

Compared to 20 % vitamin C which you can find in OST C20 Vitamin C serum 5 % sounds like nothing. So what is the advantage of using a higher dose of vitamin C in your serum? Vitamin C is an antioxidant and thus can prevent our skin from aging too early and from sun-damage. A high concentration of Vitamin C doesn’t mean automatically that it is more effective concerning anti-aging. Normally, a high concentration of Vitamin C aims at a visible effect, because it tends to operate as a chemical peeling by loosening dead and old cells. This is not a bad effect and stimulates the skin to regenerate itself, but keep in mind that it won’t affect the inner cell layers of your skin which have to be aimed if you really want an anti-aging effect. I know that for many the C20 Vitamin C serum with its high concentration is to harsh on the skin. With 5 % vitamin C serum you won’t have any problems with using it on sensitive skin, but you also won’t have the effect of regenerating skin. The benefit of the Klairs lies much more in the combination of all the ingredients together. You can check out the ingredients on COSDNA. The second key ingredient of Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop is that vitamin C is paired with Centella Asiatica extract. Centella Asiatica extract has various benefits since it has anti-bacterial, smoothing and soothing properties. Triterpenes are one of the key compounds within the Centella Asiatica extract. They stimulate the synthesis of collagen and fibronectin with the skin cells. One of the subgroups of the triterpenes (madesaddoside) has shown positive effects on wrinkles and sun-damaged skin in combination with vitamin C. Apart from these two key ingredients you will find a bunch of other plant extracts with different moisturizing and anti-bacterial properties, which round up the formula of this serum.

The included dropper makes it easy to use the product. The serum has a clear color and is slightly runnier than oil. Unlike the C20 serums, this vitamin C serum doesn’t feel like water either but has a similarity to light oil or ampoule. When you distribute it on your face it has a smooth feeling. Additionally, the serum also has kind of a warming effect on the skin. I was really surprised about the formula, because it really reminded me of facial oil first, but didn’t make the face look greasy. It gives your skin a nice glow though. The scent is a citrus-herbal-lavender scent to me, but it is not overpowering.

Since I didn’t use it for a long time yet, I cannot show you any long-term effects, but even if I could I think you would not see much of a difference because my skin has been in a good condition for quite a while now. I can say for sure that it is much milder than the C20 vitamin C serums, yet, on the other hand, I don’t think that you can call this a pure vitamin C serum because of the low concentration. The main reason why this serum is great and probably efficient for many is the combination of the ingredients and especially the combination of vitamin C with Centella Asiatica extract.

I’m really fond of Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop because of the mild and pleasant formula and the benefits it combines by the combination of the two key ingredients vitamin C and Centella Asiatica. If you have sensitive skin I definitively recommend you this over the C20 serums, but if you are looking for a chemical peeling effect and quick renewing of your skin I still say that the C20 serums are better suited. I’d rather call the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum not a pure Vitamin C serum. It is more a great combination serum of a bunch of great ingredients with nice long-term effects.
