Review: SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist

8. October 2017

// PR SAMPLE / AFFILIATE LINKS / KBEAUTY //

When it comes to mists I’m really more of the lazy type. I know how refreshing the feeling is when you spritz some good quality mist on your face and sometimes I use mists as replacement of my toner. I must admit that I was primarily intrigued by the packaging design of the SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist, which was provided to me for reviewing purpose from Beautytap. But it was also another chance for me to try to use mists more often in my skincare routine.

SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist

SanDaWha is a natural cosmetics brand from Korea. Its products are free from mineral oils, free from alcohol, free from animal based ingredients, synthetic perfume and fragrance free, and free from artificial pigments and artificial preservatives. From the high quality plant-based ingredients Camellia flower is their key ingredient. Camellia japonica is a member of the tea family and grows naturally in Korea and Japan, where it is also known by the name “Dongbaek” (Korean) or “Tsubaki” (Japanese). The oil from the Camellia flower is widely used in asian cosmetics and has moisturizing properties.

SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist

The SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist is a multi-purpose mist designed for refreshing and relaxing you, but also as replacement for toner, or even to be used as makeup-fixer. Also, if you need some glow and fresh-up throughout the day this mist does a good job.

SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist

The SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist comes in a beautiful pinkish-red spraying bottle made from hard plastic and a red metallic part around the cap. It contains 80 ml and is the size of my hand regarding its height. Maybe you would not consider it travel friendly in size, but it is definitely not heavy or too large either. The backside of the bottle contains English and Korean descriptions of how to use the product and what it is, but the ingredients are only listed in Korean. Yet, I found the English ingredients listed on Beautytap:

Camellia japonica Flower Extract (92.52%), Licorice root extract, Green tea extract, Pea protein, Pea extract

You can also check Skincarisma for the ingredients analysis. As you can see the list is short and to the point. Exactly what I want a mist to be like. The main part of the mist is the Camellia japonica flower extract, which gives the product also its name. The licorice, green tea and pea extracts are a plus.

SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist

Oh, and look at this little detail on the cap of the mist! A single Camellia flower! So beautiful, isn’t it?

SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist

The mist comes out very finely when you push down the nozzle. First, you will recognize a nice flowery scent of the Camellia flower, which is lightweight and not overpowering. A hint of the scent will remain, but it won’t be really noticeable too much any longer once the product is absorbed and dried down. It absorbs very fast and doesn’t leave a sticky scent, neither a film. Of course, a mist always feels refreshing and relaxing once you apply it on your face. I love to use them on hot summer days. In winter, a mist replaces either my toner, or I use it to fix my makeup, especially if it is very powdery or matte and I want some glow instead. This mist works well for that, since it is a very fine mist.

SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist

If you are one of those people who use mists very frequently and love that refreshing feeling throughout the day the SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist could be a nice choice. I love the fact that it contains only very few ingredients and all of them are plant-based. That means it is vegan and doesn’t contain any additives. Since it doesn’t contain any preservatives though, you have to keep in mind to use it up quickly before it gets bad. The mist is also very fine, which makes it suitable for fixing makeup.

At Beautytap the SanDaWha Camellia Flower Hydrating Mist retails for 16 US$.

You can also check out the Discounts & Coupon Page for saving some bucks.

Do you love mists? And are they part of your daily skincare routine?

Review: Olivarrier Dual Moist Hyaluron Essence

7. October 2017

// PR SAMPLE / SKINCARE / KBEAUTY //

Here is the last product I received from Olivarrier for reviewing purpose, the Olivarrier Dual Moist Hyaluron Essence. I already reviewed the Olivarrier Gentle Glow Seed Polishing Mask and the Emolient Extra Comfort Cream before, so if you are curious about the brand be sure to check these out as well. But first, let’s see what this essence is about:

Olivarrier Dual Moist Hyaluron Essence

Olivarrier is a new Korean beauty brand focusing on the key ingredient in their product, which is olive squalane. The name is a mix of “olive” and “barrier”, since the olive squalane in their skincare products is supposed to moisturize and penetrate the skin and helping to protect its natural moisture barrier.

Olivarrier Dual Moist Hyaluron Essence

Olive Squlane

What is olive squalane exactly? First of all, there is squalene and squalaneSqualene occurs widely within animals and plants, since it is part of the synthesis of sterols. It occurs in our sebum for example. But also in plant oils and in a high concentration it is also found in shark liver. Squalene is unsaturated and therefore it oxidizes easily. In order to prevent oxidization squalene is hydrogenated leading to saturated and stable squalaneOlive squalane is an animal friendly alternative of using squalane derived from sharks for example and has the same benefits for skin. Squalane is a great emollient, humectant and suited for sensitive skins by being non-irritating.

When I heard about the brand first time on Fiftly Shades of Snail I was attracted especially about the word “olive”, but also because of the simple and minimalistic design of the products. They have a beautiful skincare range that you can check out on their official web page. It consists of a cleansing bar, a toner, an essence, two different creams, a mask, and .

Olivarrier Dual Moist Hyaluron Essence

The Olivarrier Dual Moist Hyaluron Essence comes in a simple white cardboard box with descriptions in Korean and English. It is a highly moisturizing essence containing hyaluronic acid and panthenol. The essence comes in a grey colored, plastic pump bottle.

Olivarrier Dual Moist Hyaluron Essence

Below the ingredients of the essence are listed:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Squalane (Olive Squalane), Panthenol, Madecassoside, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Arginine, Allantonin, Olea Europaea (olive) Fruit Oil, Ceramide NP, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Carbomer, Octyldodecanol, Isohexadecane, Dodecane, Isoeicosane, Octadecane, Tetradecane, Potassium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Avena Sativa (Oat) Meal Extracts, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, PEG-60 hydrogenated Castor Oil, Hydrogenated LEcithin, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Linoleic Acid

You can also check the ingredients via COSDNA or check out the ingredients analysis by Skincarisma. Sodium Hyaluronate, Squalane,Panthenol, Olive oil, Ceramides…all those ingredients are contributing to moisturize and hydrate your skin. Additionally, the list contains Madecassoside, a triterpenoid compound found in Centella asiatica. Madecassoside has anti-inflammatory, wound healing, and anti-oxidant activities. It is supported by Allantoin, which also has wound-healing and cell-regenerating properties.

Olivarrier Dual Moist Hyaluron Essence

The essence itself has a gel-cream consistency. The milky essence is quite fluid and spreads to a moist and hydrating layer and absorbs quickly. The skin does feel hydrated after using it. The Olivarrier Dual Moist Hyaluron Essence is weak acid based (pH 5.5), free from chemical preservatives (parabens & phenoxyethanol), moreover, it is fragrance-free, coloring-agent free and dermatologically tested.

Olivarrier Dual Moist Hyaluron Essence

If you are looking for a cruelty-free, vegan hydrating essence, which is free from chemical preservatives you will do nothing wrong here. It does a descent job as essence and worked well with my skincare products. It didn’t break me out during the whole time I’ve been testing it and I’ve used it happily, but keep in mind that everyone may react in a different way.

You can buy the Olivarrier Dual Moist Hyaluron Essence from:

 RoseRoseShop for ~30 US$

Jolse for ~30 US$

Review: By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid %5 Skin Prep Water

4. October 2017

// PR SAMPLE / AFFILIATE LINKS / KBEAUTY //

A while ago I received the new By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid %5 Skin Prep Water for reviewing purpose by Wishtrend. I’ve tested it for quite some time and I’m almost through the bottle and I’m positive about this product so far.

By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid %5 Skin Prep Water

Probably, you know that Wishtrend does not only sell other Korean brands but also has a step in the beauty industry itself. Apart from known brand names Klairs or Jungle Botanics they also have products named under the brand “by Wishtrend”. Well-known products from By Wishtrend are the Vitamin C 21.5 Advanced Serum or the Natural Vitamin 21.5 Enhancing Vitamin Mask. The Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water is the newest addition to the By Wishtrend product family.

By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid %5 Skin Prep Water

Mandelic Acid

Is this a toner? Yes and no! It is a hydrating liquid to treat your skin after cleansing and acts as mild chemical exfoliant. This prep water uses a low concentration of mandelic acid for exfoliating your skin. In contrast to harsh AHAs and BHAs Mandelic Acid is a mild AHA with a large molecular size, so it is better suited for people with sensitive skin or people who want to start incorporate chemical exfoliant into their skincare. It has antibacterial properties and helps to reduce pigmention of the skin.

By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid %5 Skin Prep Water

Apart from the key ingredient, which is mandelic acid, this product contains some more beneficial ingredients:

Water, Mandelic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Beta-Glucan, Panthenol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Sorbitol, Dimethyl Sulfone, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Citrate, Arginine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Carbomer

Panthonol, Beta Glucan, and Sodium Hyaluronate are acting moisturizing and hydrating. Centella Asiatica Extracta acts regenerating on damaged skin. Licorice extract helps to even up the skin tone and acts soothing. You can check out the ingredients analysis on Skincarisma, too.

By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid %5 Skin Prep Water

I use the By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid %5 Skin Prep Water after cleansing my skin. I pour the clear and watery liquid on a cotton pad and swipe it over my face, especially over my T-zone. Afterwards I continue with the rest of my skincare routine. Sometimes, I also add a toner after using the Skin Prep Water to add some additional moisture.

By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid %5 Skin Prep Water

I discovered that this mild exfoliator doesn’t irritate the skin at all, but yet it makes the skin feel softer and smooth. When I started using this again after my vacation I felt that it made my freckles disappear really quickly. It doesn’t have any special scent to it and absorbs quickly, too, without any trace of stickiness. I use the By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid %5 Skin Prep Water in the evening almost every day. During day I use a Vitamin C serum. I’m wearing sunscreen during day aswell.

By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid %5 Skin Prep Water

I came to like the By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid %5 Skin Prep Water very much. It is a mild exfoliation and a perfect start to get your skin to like AHAs. It makes the skin soft and smooth and can be used along with my regular skincare routine without any problems (if you are interested in what products I’m using you might want to check out my Instagram account where I share my skincare from time to time.

If you are curious about the Mandelic Acid 5 % Skin Prep Water , too, it retails for 22.00 US$ and is available at Wishtrend. Also keep in mind the friend-referral program from Wishtrend: You can receive a 5 Us$ referral coupon if you use my invitation code 17939205 upon registration and you’ll receive this voucher immediately. There will be a specific field in your registration form called “friends invitation program” where you can put the code mentioned above. This way new customers can safe 5 US$ which is a great possibility to safe some money. Also, Wishtrend has a Free-Shipping Area, were you can find products that can be bought with free shipping. Check out my post on the current Wishtrend Coupons. Until end of October you can try out the Skinmiso Spot Repairing Serum worth 24.99 US$ for FREE (you only have to pay the shipping costs) with the code >> SPOTFREEOCT <<!

What is your opinion on chemical peeling of the skin? Do you use AHAs/BHAs? Would you consider Mandelic Acid as an alternative?

Review: Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

27. September 2017

// PR SAMPLE / SKINCARE / KBEAUTY //

The last products I received from LoveMyCosmetics as part of their ambassador program for the Korean brand Klairs is the Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser. I talked about the Klairs Gentle Black Cleansing Oil and Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish previously, so be sure to check out these two reviews as well. By now those who are reading my blog for some time know how much I love the products from the brand Klairs. I almost tried all their products at least once and they never disappoint me. A good thing is also that Klairs frequently updates their products regarding their ingredients or their packaging and volume. And usually they listen to the recommendations and remarks made from their customer in reviews.

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

Klairs is a Korean brand which is eco-friendly, producing products which are animal-testing-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, artificial-color-free and recently they are vegan, too. Their products address people with sensitive skin and people who want to moisturize their skin. I reviewed some of their products before, like the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum or the Klairs Midnight Blue Cream, which both convinced me in their effects. I also love the Klairs Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, which by the way has been updated and improved, too. Their saying “Simple but Enough” really nails it and I think that many people will agree in that point with me.

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

The Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser is a hypoallergenic face wash containing low irritant amino acids instead of chemical detergents. Together with hyaluronic acid, olive oil and ceramide 3 in addition to a pH of 5-6 it keeps the skins moisture level and prevents it from feeling dry. The cleanser comes in a pumping bottle, which makes it very easy to use and you do not have to use an additional foaming net to foam up the cleanser.

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

The ingredients are listed on the bottle itself:

Water, Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, Glycerin, Propylen glycol, Lauric acid, Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Sodium hyaluronate, Dimethyl sulfone, Potassium hydroxide, Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract, Betaine, Stearic acid, Chamaecyparis obtusa water, Ananas sativus(pineapple) fruit extract, Chlorphenesin, Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf oil, Illicium verum (anise) fruit extract, Citrus paradisi (grapefruit) fruit extract, Nelumbium speciosum flower extract, Paeonia suffruticosa root extract, Scutellaria baicalensis root extract, Panthenol, Citric acid, Pyridoxine, Linum usitatissimum (linseed) seed extract, Hibiscus esculentus fruit extract, Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, Arctium lappa root extract, Hibiscus mutabilis flower extract, Corchorus olitorius leaf extract, Hydrolyzed pea protein, Lecithin, Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, Phytosterols, Squalane, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Ceramide NP, Propanediol, Apium graveolens (celery) extract, Brassica oleracea capitata (cabbage) leaf extract, Brassica oleracea italica (broccoli) extract, Brassica rapa (turnip) leaf extract, Daucus carota sativa (carrot) root extract, Oryza sativa (rice) bran extract, Solanum lycopersicum (tomato) fruit/leaf/stem extract, Lysine hcl, Proline, Sodium ascorbyl phosphate, Acetyl methionine, Theanine, Tocopheryl acetate, Panax ginseng callus culture extract, Piper methysticum leaf/root/stem extract, Centella asiatica extract, Portulaca oleracea extract, Beta-glucan, Papain

There are a lot of plant-based ingredients included in this cleanser. Just some to stress some are : licorice extract, aloe vera, tea tree oil, shea butter, rice bran extract…ect. But also fruit extracts like pineapple and papain for a light peeling effect. The product is free from alcohol, animal testing, parabens and artificial pigments. also it is designed as an eco-friendly product. You can also check out Skincarisma for an ingredient analysis.

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

The foam itself is very soft and not a thick solid foam like you would expect from shaving foam for example. There are visible bubbles and it has a herbal scent to it. I use the Klairs Rich Moist Cleansing Foam as second step of my cleansing routine after I have removed the makeup with another oil-based cleanser. This cleanser is also not made for removing make up. Instead it will make your skin feel clear and cared for after you already removed the layer of your makeup. I think it is a nice cleanser and it doesn’t dry out my skin, even after several cleansing steps.

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

If you are looking for a good and non-drying, easy to use second cleanser for your double cleansing routine you will like this cleanser. The pump application makes it so easy to use and saves you some time. The ingredients are great, too, and eco-friendly on top! It is made for all skintypes and comes with 100 ml in full-size. The Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser retails for 22,95 € from LoveMyCosmetics. Oh, and here is a little bonus for my lovely readers: You can get a discount of 10% using the coupon code “misslavenklairs” while shopping on LoveMyCosmetics!

Did you try the Sugar Scrub from Klairs?

Unboxing: InStyle Box Summer Edition 2017

12. September 2017

// PR SAMPLE / SUBSCRIPTION BOX //

Let’s have another unboxing of a summer themed box before it has passed completely :D I’m happy to have the chance to show you the content of the InStyle Box Summer Edition 2017, which was provided to me for reviewing purpose. Like the Instyle Box I showed last time >>here<<, also this box was packed heavily with awesome products in my opinion. This post will be picture-heavy due to the loads of products that were included, my apologies in advance >_<

InStyle Box Summer Edition

As the name already suggest this box is dedicated to summer and to products that bring us in a summer mood and are useful during this season. And as if they knew, they already predicted the ups and downs of summer in Germany. You must know that the weather here is not really reliable in summer, so our beauty routine has to be adapted to every possible situation :D

InStyle Box Summer Edition

That said I will start with the beauty products first:

OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Conditioner

These travel sized bottles of the OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Conditioner are perfect for vacation. I already bought them last year and liked the products a lot. They make the hair smooth and manageable even in dry climate. They contain argan oil of Morocco, which also protects the hair from UV rays and heat damage, by giving deep nutrition. I used both of these during my vacation and it was the perfect size for the 2 weeks showering daily. These are available from your drugstore or amazon. The fullsize retails for around 8 €.

InStyle Box Summer Edition

Douglas Make-Up Mattissim Lipstick

The Mattissim Lipstick by Douglas comes in the summer color called “Senorita”, an orange hued red shade. This liquid lipstick has a velvet matte texture without stickiness. A soft doe-foot applicator helps to create your look. I love the lid, which is covered in black velvet. It retails for 9.99 €.

InStyle Box Summer Edition

Aqua Colonia Pink Pepper & Grapefruit

Solid soap becomes very handy during vacation time. Usually, I’m using liquid soap at home, but the benefit of having solid soap that cannot spill inside your luggage is definitely a plus here. The Aroma Soap from Aqua Colonia in Pink Pepper and Grapefruit is a perfect scent for warm weather. The spiciness of the better together with the freshness of grapefruit make a perfect combination. The soap retails for 7.38€.

InStyle Box Summer Edition

Treaclemoon Soft Watermint Rain

I have resisted to buy this new line called Watermint Rain from Treaclemoon for weeks, since it released and luckily the InStyle Box contains the Body Milk of this line. This refreshing body milk is absorbed quickly into the skin and is easily to spread. I love the packaging design with the mint color and the mushrooms. You can get the products from your local drugstore or amazon (around 10 €).

InStyle Box Summer Edition

Comodyness Urban Cosmetics Self-Tanning Body Glove

I need to try this yet but is sounds very interesting, since it is a glove and not a spray or cream. It is free from parabens and allergens and promises a natural and uniform body color for all skincolors. Maybe I can get rid of my tan lines with this glove. One piece retails for 5 €. You can get a set of 3 for 15 €.

InStyle Box Summer Edition

L’Oréal Botanicals Fresh Care Geranium Glow-Elixir

A perfect fit, considering the fact that I received shampoo and conditioner from Botanicals Fresh Care in my previously unboxed Barabara Box! The product comes in a spraying bottle and contains oil from Geranium, soy and coconut to help your hair fix its glow. The products from Botanicals are without parabens, silicons and dyes. The spray can be used on toweldry hair or in between. It retails for 9 €.

InStyle Box Summer Edition

Avon Mark. Gel Shine Nail Enamel

This nail polish from Avon gives your nails a gel-look without the need of an UV lamp. The shade “Fabulous” is a dark pink, perfect for summer. There are 33 colors available for the Mark. Gel Shine Nail Enamels.

InStyle Box Summer Edition

Vandini Hydrating Face Mask

This Face Mask containing hyaluronic acid and caviar helps to retain hydration of the skin and makes your skin smoother and plumped. Each sachet can be used for two applications. I haven’t tried products from Vandini yet but I’ve heard good things about it. Looking forward to try this mask. This mask retails for 6€.

InStyle Box Summer Edition

Let’s turn to the fashion and accessories products from the box:

Rapunzel of Sweden Magic Rubberbands

I love these kind of curly hairbands. And since you never can have enough hairbands I was super happy to see 5 colors of these included in the box. The brand Rapunzel of Sweden was new to me, but they are popular for hair extensions in Sweden. The set of 5 retails for 3.99€.

InStyle Box Summer Edition

Levi’s Pins

Levi’s is not only a brand for denim, but also do they now offer pins. After the comeback of patches on clothing pins seem to be the next big thing to decorate your favourite jacket. The box included two pins from Levi’s.

InStyle Box Summer Edition

Flamingo Luggage Tag

Another of my favourites from this box: I love this flamingo luggage tag. It was my perfect companion during my travel and I had it attached to my suitcase all time during the weeks in Mexico.

InStyle Box Summer Edition

The food item in the summer box was Corn Chico Popcorn Magic Mix. I love popcorn, and this one was no exception and gone in a minute :D

InStyle Box Summer Edition

What I really like about the InStyle Box is the versatility and the thorough magazine with the information. The magazine also includes a bunch of coupons for various online shops and even a Starbucks Coupon. The box really has a great value for  its price. The Box is available on shop.instyle.de for 29.90€ and comes with 3 e-paper versions of the InStyle magazine. The InStyle Box is released every three months.

What are your thoughts on the products from this box? Let me know in the comments below :)

Review: Tonymoly Pokemon Hand Creams

7. September 2017

// PR SAMPLE / POKEMON / BEAUTY //

Can you believe it is September already? Time flies by so quickly…September already sounds like the weather is getting colder soon and we will have autumn first and then winter already. These drier seasons also mean that our skin will suffer from the colder climates, at least in Germany I tend to have very dry skin during the cold and windy seasons. It is not only my face that feels drier, but also my hands. Autumn and winter also are the main seasons for me to use hand cream. Luckily, I’m prepared for that time of the year, since I received these three Tonymoly Pokemon Hand Creams recently from Eopenmarket.

Tonymoly Pokemon Hand Creams

There is not a lot to review about hand creams, but the collaboration between Tonymoly and Pokemon is so cute that I definitely want to share with you. There are quite a couple of different Pokemon themed beauty products available by now, like cushions, palettes, shower gels, body lotions and also hand creams. If you are a Pokemon lover you will find probably more than one item that you would like to buy :D

Tonymoly Pokemon Hand Creams

I decided for three different hand creams: Jigglypuff, Pikachu, and Snorlax. I love the fitting colors of the tubes for each of the Pokemon. The tubes are small and contain 30 ml. They have the perfect size to fit in my (Pokemon) Cosmetics Pouch and most hand bags, too ;)

Tonymoly Pokemon Hand Creams

Each of the tubes has a holographic Pokemon sticker attached to verify that it is authentic.

Tonymoly Pokemon Hand Creams

The cream has a lotion type consistency and a each has a different scent: Pikachu has a sweet, sugary scent that reminds me of cotton candy. Snorlax has an herbal, fresh scent. And Jigglypuff has a flowery scent. Also, the hand creams absorb super quickly and don’t feel greasy, neither do they leave a film on your skin.

Tonymoly Pokemon Hand Creams

I’m very pleased with these hand creams and I can recommend them to you if you are looking for non-greasy and quickly absorbing hand creams and are a Pokemon lover, too!

Tonymoly Pokemon Hand Creams

This was also the first time for me to use Eopenmarket and I must say that their standard shipping really arrives quickly and they also included nice samples of other products that they offer. There are 8 different Tonymoly Pokemon Hand Creams available and they retail for 5.85 US$ on that shop (currently on sale).

Unboxing: Barbara Box No. 2/2017

19. August 2017

// PR SAMPLE // SUBSCRIPTION BOX //

I talked about the newly launched Barbara Box earlier this year and I loved the concept and the products so much and was totally convinced about this new concept of box. If you missed my first unboxing you can head over >>here<<. Today I will show you the content of the second Barbara Box, dedicated to beautiful summer moments that you can share with your best friends:

Barbara Box No. 2

The Barbara Box ambassador is also the donor of the name, a German celebrity called Barbara Schöneberger. The box is not only advertised by her, but also she selects the products. The topic of the boxes revolve around “Girls Night” with your best friend(s)and contain food, drinks, beauty, decoration, games…so as you see the Barbara Box seems to be very versatile.

Barbara Box No. 2

The box is not a monthly box but is released every three months and comes together with a print of the Barbara magazine, a magazine curated by Barbara Schöneberger aswell and addressing women in their 30s.

Barbara Box No. 2

Let’s see what we have inside the summer-themed second Barbara Box:

Barbara Box No. 2

First of all the box was super heavy and I discover quickly what was the reason behind it. There was drink included: Ramazzotti Aperitivo Rosato together with Schweppes Indian Tonic Water. Enough to make two Summer Drinks and it was really delicious and refreshening, too.

Barbara Box No. 2

Summertime is also usually the time when we neglate our skincare, because we don’t want to put too many products on our face. Yet the box includes Tavana The Pearl High Performance Boost Day Cream to remind us that the skin still needs some pampering.

Barbara Box No. 2

But it is not only our face we have to care about, but also our hair and body. For haircare the box comes with the new L’Oréal Botanicals Fresh Care Camelina Shampoo and Conditioning Balm. This new line contains botanical ingredients and no silicons, parabens, or dyes. Camelina oil helps to smoothen and detangle frizzy hair.

Barbara Box No. 2

For the body we have the Rituals Cosmetics Express Your Soul Shower Oil, a limited edition that comes in a green/yellow colored bottle for extra summer vibes. The design was created by MadC. I haven’t used it yet, but oil sounds like a perfect treat for dry summer skin.

Barbara Box No. 2

Barbara Box No. 2

My personal highlight was a delicate lucky bracelet from iCrush which was included in the box. This Mandela bracelet is symbolizing harmony and can be used by yourself, or you can give it to a friend to celebrate your friendship.

Barbara Box No. 2

As extra there was a Barbara magazine included and post cards with fun slogans. I personally preferred the post cards from the first box because I loved the black and white design.Last but not least a makeup pouch was included, perfect for summer time and travel season! It says “Kriegsbemalung”, which means “war paint” in English.

Barbara Box No. 2

A total of 9 products including the magazine and the postcards. Although the first box contained more products in total, this box has a very good value. While the last box also contained some food and a game, this one focused on skincare/body/spa. I like that the content was different from the previous box and I’m still convinced that this subscription box is one of the most versatile boxes I’ve tested so far.

Barbara Box No. 2

Barbara Box is released every three months, which makes it even more appalling in my opinion. The box retails for 29.95 €, but there are also options for a yearly or half-year order with 4 or 2 boxes, respectively. Considering the prize of the included products in the first two boxes it makes up far the retail price definitely. I’m really curious how they will continue in the future. How do you like the second Barbara Box?

// AFFILIATE LINK / AD //

New month means new coupons for Wishtrend. If you don’t know Wishtrend, but love Korean or Asian cosmetics and skin care products I can recommend you to check out their online shop, especially for some of my favorite products, e.g. the O.S.T. Vitamin C Serum,  Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C serum or the ElishaCoy Moist Up Hyalurone Ampoule ToneAlso, they have listed brands like COSRX, Klairs and Mizon. You can find a list of all the products I reviewed from Wishtrend at the bottom of this post. Furthermore, they have really a great affiliate program for blogger and I can advice you to join it if you are one. So here we go:

Wishtrend Coupons

As usual, I’ll start off with the 5 US$ referral coupon you can receive if you are a new customer. The principle is easy as this: If you use my invitation code 17939205 upon registration you’ll receive a 5 US$ voucher immediately. There will be a specific field in your registration form called “friends invitation program” where you can put the code mentioned above. This way new customers can get 5 US$ off, which is a great to save some money on your first order.

This time there is no 10% discount coupon but a coupon to save $3 on your purchase at Wishtrend.com without any minimum order! Below, you’ll find the coupon code for this:

  • Coupon Code: WISH3AUG
  • Requirement 1: no minimum order
  • Requirement 2: coupon code cannot be combined with any other discount or voucher code.
  • Only valid until the end of August 2017

Wishtrend Coupons

Since the promotion with the I’m from Magnolia Essence was so successful last month Wishtrend created a similar promotion for August. The second promotion code is a special gift again! You will receive one free jar of the Vitamin 75 Maximizing Cream (worth 27.90 US$) by using the code below. The only thing you have to pay are the shipping costs!

  • Voucher Code: WISHMAX
  • Only valid until the end of August 2017

If you cannot decide what to order here are some suggestion:

Wishtrend has a newly launched product again, called Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water. This watery preparation toner is applied directly after cleansing and acts as mild chemical exfoliator. I will write a review soon, but I can already tell you that if you have avoided BHAs and AHAs this might be a consideration since it is much more gentle.

Wishtrend Coupons

Another recently launched product which I reviewed a couple of days ago is Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop. This watery serum reminds me more of a first essence, and also has to be applied early in the skincare routine. It has a light blue color and contains peptides, blueberry fruit extract and guaiazulene and acts conditioning and smoothing on the skin. Read my review >>here<<.

Also, their is a limited edition cosmetics pouch by Klairs which looks pretty in my opinion and is also waterproof. Seems to be great for travelling, too!

Wishtrend Coupons

I would advice you to check out their  “Free Shipping Area”, if you do not want to make use of a voucher or coupon code. They have quite some nice items available there, changing from time to time!

Unboxing: Glossybox July 2017

16. August 2017

// PR SAMPLE / AFFILIATE LINKS / UNBOXING //

The German Glossybox in July has been curated together with the makeup artist Linda Hallberg and is themed “Pink Planet Edition”. The box was kindly provided to me for reviewing purpose by Glossybox. For this special theme the box has been beautifully redesigned. Let’s see what kind of beauty adventures wait for us on our pink planet.

Glossybox July 2017

Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription box containing a selection of 5 beauty and wellness products packed in a box and delivered to your doorstep. The box was founded in 2011 and has spread in over 10 countries all over the world.

Glossybox July 2017

Glossybox July 2017

The topic of the Glossybox July 2017 was “Pink Planet Box”. This is also represented by the space design of the box, with a pink planet and a pink rocket flying towards it. This month the box contains 5 products and 2 goodies. I absolutely love the design of the box and especially that tiny rocket. It is so adorable!

Glossybox July 2017

Glossybox July 2017

As always, it also contains the so-called Glossy Magazine for the month containing all the information about the products that were added in the boxes. Let’s have a look inside:

Glossybox July 2017

Bellàpierre Cosmetics Banana Setting Powder (fullsize, 25.oo € / 4 g)

In the past I received a powder blush from Bellàpierre in a Glossybox and it had such a lovely texture and color. So happy to be able to try another product from this brand. It seems to be a popular product from the brand and can be used to fix makeup, as eyeshadow base, or simply to mattify and even the skin.

BC Oil Miracle Light Oil Shampoo (Deluxe Sample Size, 4.20 € / 30 ml)

This shampoo sounds perfect for my dry hair. It is described as crystal-clear shampoo containing micro emulsion oil droplets to make the hair soft and glowy.

Glossybox July 2017

Dove DermaSpa Pure Leichtigkeit Body Lotion (fullsize, 4.99 € / 200 ml)

I’m always open for new body lotions. This one is supposed to absorb quickly into the skin and leave a soft and fresh feeling on the skin. Looking forward to try it.

Otto Kern Never Hide Cream Shower

I didn’t try it yet, but the scent is nice and a mixture of salty / fruity. This is also perfect for upcoming vacations.

Glossybox July 2017

De Bruyère Eau de Beauté Monoi Body Splash (fullsize, 16.00 € /50 ml)

Aloha! A sweet and fresh scent for body and hair. I really like the Hawaiian vibes on the bottle. It is really cute and fits nicely into my vacation bag, too!

Glossybox July 2017

Purelei Hair Tie

There were 2 goodies included in this box. The first one you can see in the picture above with the Aloha body splash and it is an adorable pink hair tie from Purelei, perfectly fitting to the Hawaiian vibes and summer time .

Bio:Végane skinfood Bio Cranberry Sheet Mask (fullsize, 4.99 €/pc)

I love! Sheet Masks are always good to have at hands! They are a perfect timesaver, perfect for travelling and reaaaally relaxing. I was curious about that new brand Bio:Végane anyways, so I’m happy to test their sheet masks now. Key ingredients of the mask are cranberry extract and hyaluronic acid.

Glossybox July 2017

As you can see the Glossybox July 2017 only includes one makeup product. Most of the other products are focussing on skin and body care. I guess it is a nice summer box. I especially love the two goodies: sheet masks are always great and I also love hair ties.

Glossybox July 2017

Glossybox is available as flexible subscription for 15 € per month. There are also other subscription options available, like a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month subscription for 14,50 €, 13,50 €, or 12,50 € per month, respectively. Check out www.glossybox.de for more information.

Review: Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop

26. July 2017

// PR SAMPLE // KBEAUTY //

When the Korean brand Klairs launched their first anti-aging product some time ago I was kindly offered a bottle of the Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop for reviewing purpose by Wishtrend. As I have stated more than one time I really appreciate the products from this brand and so far they never have failed me and some have become steady companions in my skincare. As you can guess, with my age I’m also interested in anti-aging, apart from caring for my dry skintype. It is really exciting to see what direction Klairs goes with their first product targeting aging skin.

Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop

Klairs is a Korean brand which is eco-friendly, producing products which are animal-testing-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, artificial-color-free and recently they are vegan, too. Their products address people with sensitive skin and people who want to moisturize their skin. I reviewed some of their products before, like the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum or the Klairs Midnight Blue Cream, which both convinced me in their effects. I also love the Klairs Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, which by the way has been updated and improved. Their saying “Simple but Enough” really nails it and I think that many people will agree in that point with me.

Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop

The Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is a night serum containing the peptides EGF (rh-Oligopeptide-1) and bFGF (RH-Polypeptide-1) to target aging skin. The serum is made with only 10 core ingredients and without the use of purified water and acts as a high concentration/ high strength delay aging serum.

Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop

The key ingredients are the two peptides, EGF and FGF. What are these two and what do they actually do for our skin? EGF is the short-term for Epidermal Growth Factor. In the ingredients list you will find it as oligopeptide-1. The EGF targets specific receptors in the cell (EGFR) and is the necessary molecule for this receptor in order to work. From the name you can already tell that it promotes the cell growth, so it is important for our body, since dying and growing cells are a regular process in our body.

Short excursus: It is important to note the difference between the receptor and the EGF: EGF is not carcenogenic! Mutations in cells can cause overexpression of the EGFR for example, which means we have too many of these receptors in our cells, which can lead to uncontrolled growth of cells, means cancer. Other proteins can put the EGFR in a permanent on-state, which leads to uncontrolled growth of cells aswell.

FGF is the short term for Fibroblast Growth Factor and this peptide plays a role in wound healing of the skin. The FGFs play an important role for the so-called Fibrobasts. Fibroblasts are cells that produce collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin.

So do peptides like EGF or FGF have anti-aging properties? Since the growth factors should address wrinkles in first place it has to affect the collagen production somehow in order to be beneficial for our skin. When EGF is applied with a cream it has to be absorbed into the dermis, the inner layer of the skin, to have any effect, and only a very, very small amount of topically applied EGF will be able to reach the dermis at all. And even if it helps to produce collagen it does not have any effect on the degradation of the old collagen. In conclusion we can say that the peptides may be responsible for a plumping effect of the outer skin layer, but it will not have any effect on the inner skin layer and therefore will not reduce deep wrinkles.

Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop

Apart from the lipids there are some other ingredients in this serum. Here is the full ingredients list:

RH-Oligopeptide- 1, RH-Polypeptide- 1, Butylene Glycol, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Chlorphenesin, Guaiazulene, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine

As you see the list is very short and does focus on the essentials. It contains castor oil, blueberry fruit extract and adenosine. Also, it has a light blue color which is the result of the Guaiazulene. This was also an ingredient in the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream. You can check the list via COSDNA, too.

Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop

Here you can see the light color inside the attached dropper in the cap of the brown bottle. The bottle is small containing only 20 ml, but you only need few drops each night. The best way is to apply it after cleansing the skin and before applying any products containing oil/lipids.

Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop

The liquid has a texture like water and reminds me of First Essences. It absorbs very fast and feels like nothing on the skin. Yet, the skin feels soft and smooth after applying. The product is scentfree, too. At least I didn’t have the feeling that it had any specific scent.

Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop

All in all it seems to be a nice product to start your skincare routine. As said, it is hard to say how effective peptides act when applied topically, even when they are applied as first product after cleansing. Somehow, the serum still has a good effect on the skin and makes it feel soft. I don’t think that it will reduce any existing wrinkles though. I love the fact of the very short ingredients list, reduced to the essential components.

If you are curious about this serum, too, it retails for 30.00 US$ and is available at Wishtrend. You will find all the information about the I’m from Ginseng Serum >>here<<. Until end of July you can try out the new I’m from Magnolia Wake Essence for FREE (you only have to pay the shipping costs) with the code >> IMFROMJULY <<!

What is your opinion on peptides for anti-aging purpose? Do you use any products containing EGF or other peptides?
