Review: Erborian Matte Crème

26. September 2018

// PR SAMPLE / KBEAUTY / MAKEUP //

I’m very excited to share this review with you today: It’s about the Erborian Matte Crème! There are two reasons for my excitement: First, it’s my first review for the brand Erborian, second, I’ve been using this a lot during summer and loving it, and thirdly, I was introduced to this wonderful product during a Launching Event in Cologne in Summer, which was such a lovely and nicely organized event that I still have a lot of positive memories of it. Thank you, Erborian & YBPN for the opportunity and for providing me with this product as PR sample.

Erborian Matte Crème

“Achieve perfect skin with simple and unique products, that’s Erborian’s mission.”

Erborian is a Kbeauty brand based in France and Korea. Co-founder Katalin Berenyi discovered during a visit in South Korea that Korean Women had a very clear and good skin and she learned about Korean beauty rituals and brought them to Europe, founding the brand Erborian together with Hojung Lee, a Korean scientist with a passion for beauty. Erborian adapts Asian skincare expertise to beauty rituals around the world, creating a variety of unique and effective skincare and makeup products.

Erborian Matte Crème

As said before, I had the honour to attend a launching event for the Erborian Matte Crème earlier this summer. The event was organized byYBPN and Erborian Germany and we were able to try out various products from Erborian, and we were introduced to the new Matte Crème. This 5-in-1 product is a mattifying face cream with a blurring effect. It evens out the complexion and mattifies the skin using White Water Lily extract from Korea. The five properties of the Erborian Matte Crème are:

  1. Blur the appearance of pores and imperfections with a soft-focus effect
  2. Even out skin tone and give an ultra-matte finish
  3. Refine skin’s texture
  4. Maintain skin’s barrier function to hold in moisture
  5. 5. mattify to prepare skin for makeup

The Matte Crème can thereby be used before makeup, or to touch up throughout the day!

Erborian Matte Crème

It was so fun to take the pictures for the review because the Erborian Matte Crème was packed in a fun superhero-themed box. I loved the packaging so much and I took thousands of pictures, but I only selected some here :D

Erborian Matte Crème

The colorful box revealed the original product packaging in the signature color: pale blue.

Erborian Matte Crème

The Erborian Matte Crème comes in a sleek tube containing 45 ml of product.

The ingredients of the mattifying cream are listed as below:

Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Water, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Trihydroxystearin, Silica, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Isononyl Isononanoate, Trisiloxane, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Alcohol, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Disodium EDTA, Mica, Ethylhexylglycerin, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, Hexyl Cinnamal, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Linalool, Citronellol, Geraniol, Eugenol, Limonene, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Titanium Dioxide, Ferric Ferrocyanide

The product is free of parabens, sulfates, and fungal acne safe according to Skincarisma. It does contain silicones and alcohol though. The key ingredients are White Water Lily Extract (Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract) for anti-oxidants and hydration, and silica powder for the mattifying effect. The product also contains Titanium Dioxide for UV protection, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), and Butylene Glycol for hydration.

Erborian Matte Crème

Erborian Matte Crème

During the Launch Event, we tested this cream in a special way, which was fun and very interesting at the same time: Everyone received a touch-up of their makeup using the Erborian Matte Crème. Then we had a collective yoga session of 60 minutes. The yoga session was really exhausting, and not easy either, and to be honest, I was not prepared to get that much of exercise on this day :D By the end of the session I thought my whole makeup has melted off already! Surprisingly, a look in the mirror revealed that the Erborain Matte Crème really held up to its claims and our skin was still matte and not sweaty at all. I was pretty much amazed and happy!

Erborian Matte Crème

The cream has a pale blue color and a balm-type texture. It feels light and hydrating upon application and has a pleasant and nice scent.

Erborian Matte Crème

The cream pretty much dissolves to nothing and doesn’t leave a film or any type of greasiness. It is super lightweight and apart from the scent non-existent on the skin. The skin looks matte and fresh!

Erborian Matte Crème

Erborian Matte Crème

I used the cream quite often this summer and it had been really a lifesaver during the hot days. I especially love that it can be used on top of your makeup as well! If you are looking for a mattifying cream I can very much recommend you the Erborian Matte Crème!

You can buy the Erborian Matte Crème at various places:

 Parfuemerie.de for 40.50 € (45ml) and 18.50 € (15ml)

 Erborian (US site) for 42.00 US$ (45ml)

 Erborian (France) for 36.90 € (45ml) and 16.40 € (15ml)

Review: Dr. Lola Crème de Fer

20. September 2016

The same time I received the Elizavecca 3 Step Sheet Mask I was also offered the Dr. Lola Crème de Fer by BBCOSMETIC for reviewing purpose. Changing the apartment really makes reviewing things a hassle, but almost done with the main furniture and stuff…so here is my impression:

Dr. Lola Crème de Fer

It was the first tine for me hearing about the brand Dr. Lola. I have no real information about the brand either except I saw a bunch of sheet masks that were sold by this brand. I was a bit confused first, too, because I thought the Dr. Lola Crème de Fer is a skin care product and then suddenly after using it for the first time it came to me that this cannot be skin care but a makeup primer :D Don’t ask me why I was confused but maybe it was the iron depicted on the packaging. I directly connected wrinkles and anti-wrinkle care to it.

Dr. Lola Crème de Fer

Dr. Lola Crème de Fer comes in a pink box with some illustrations and ornaments. There is mainly Korean description but also some short English direction, which says to use a rice grain amount of the product and apply it on target areas.

Dr. Lola Crème de Fer

The ingredients of the Dr. Lola Crème de Fer are also listed on the cardboard box:

Ingredients: Water, Sodium Silicate, Citric Acid,Acetyl-Hexapeptide-8, Magnesium Aluminium Silicate, Phenoxyethanol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Ammonium Acryloyldimethylaurate/VP Crosspolymer, Coptis Japonica Root Extract, Phelodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Scutellaria Balkalensis Root Extract, Polygonatum Odoratum Extract, Cl 77491, Cl77492,Adenosine, Fragnance

The ingredients can be checked via COSDNA. It is pretty short and I’m quite positively surprised. All of the ingredients are either green or yellow flagged, while the yellows are only for 2 ingredients (and one maybe).

Dr. Lola Crème de Fer

The inside if the Dr. Lola Crème de Fer Box is also really beautiful. There is a semi-transparent sheet with short description in golden  print. Below you will find  the product that comes in a syringe type dispenser.

Dr. Lola Crème de Fer

Below you will find that the product comes in a syringe type dispenser, and since it is designed to blur out your wrinkles and pores the syringe is the perfect dispenser for the small amount that you will need. Of course there is no needle though!

Dr. Lola Crème de Fer

The balm-type primer has a beige/orange color and has to be blended in very thoroughly so the orange tint blends into you skin tone. It has a blurring effect on the skin and makes it appear more matte and smooth.

Dr. Lola Crème de Fer

You can see the effect in the picture below aswell. Although in the same focus the lines appear more blurry, but do not disappear completely.

Dr. Lola Crème de Fer

Dr. Lola Crème de Fer does a good job in blurring out the finer lines of the skin. It is not my first choice for covering up enlarged pores or deeper lines though. I found the Innisfree No-Mineral Blur or the Benefit Porefessional Primer more effective.  Also I found that you needed to rub this primer more thoroughly than the others I mentioned, otherwise the orange stain is minimal visible – at least for my eyes! You will find some Dr. Lola products on BBCOSMETIC >>here<<, but I didn’t spot the Crème de Fer there, unfortunately. If you get to know we’re it is available let me know in the comments so I can add the information.

You can use the voucher Q2C8JX9N45R3O  in order to get 10 % discount on BBCOSMETIC.

Review: Missha Lighting Tone Up Base Peach | TesterKorea

8. March 2016

The Missha Lighting Tone Up Base is a newly launched product by Missha and was provided to me by TesterKorea. It is available in three different colors, which have different properties on how they effect your skintone. Depending on your skin concerns you can choose between a mint, a peach, and a purple base.

Missha Lighting Tone Up Base

First, some information about TesterKorea: if you know me and my blog for some time you will know that TesterKorea is my favorite online retailer for larger Kbeauty hauls. I’ve purchased products from them many times and they never failed me. Also, they are quite popular for offering many free samples and having a LARGE variety of samples for sale aswell. If you do not know a specific products and you want to test it first the place to recommend is TesterKorea. Also, they have a huge amount of different products from many brands, so you can be sure to find what you are looking for in most cases. Unlike other online retailers they do not offer free shipping, though, but their shipping is based on weight. The cheap prices of the products themselves totally balances the shipping costs in my eyes – especially for larger hauls. They even have a specific topic where you can request a product, if it is newly launched. They are also quite fast in listing the latest products from most brands. Considering the fact that I know they are a reliable retailer and have a good reputation makes me even more happy that I’m part of the 17 members of their 1st Real Tester round-up. I linked my previous reviews at the end of this post.

Missha Lighting Tone Up Base

The product I’m reviewing here is from the famous Korean brand Missha. Missha has a lot of online stores all over the world and are available in US/Canada, Australia and even in Germany. It is the first Korean brand with a physical store in Ingolstadt in Germany, too! Missha is against animal testing. The products always come in a very mature and luxurious packaging and the design is usually very elegant although simple. I think that it can be liked by almost everyone. The Missha Lighting Tone Up Base has a very simple packaging though. The tube containing the base comes in a cardboard box with only Korean description. So unfortunately, I do not know the ingredients of the base. The packaging is almost to simple and doesn’t really stand out. The base is available in the three shades I mentioned at the beginning (mint, peach, violet) and I selected the peach color here. Usually, pink/peach bases are designed to brighten up the skin and reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation or dark circles, whereas green bases reduce redness and violet bases reduce yellowish undertones.

Missha Lighting Tone Up Base

The product comes in a tube containing 20 ml. It’s a quite small tube, but unlike BB creams you won’t need as much of the base on your face. A little goes a long way, and is also more easily to spread on the skin. The base has SPF 30 /PA++, but I would still advise to use a sunscreen before applying the base. The base has a clean and soapy scent, which is not overpowering, but rather mild. Applying the base on my face makes the skintone appear brighter and more even. I doesn’t make much of a difference for redness (but you should use the green base here anyways), but for people with clear skin this can be a good product for on-the-go. It can accentuate dry skin, for example around the nose, and settle in a powdery way in these areas – but this effect was minimal for me.

Missha Lighting Tone Up Base

All in all the Missha Lighting Tone Up Base Peach is a solid and affordable base product. It does not do any miracles, but it has brightening properties and makes the skintone more even. If you are interested in a simple, but effective skin correcting base you can find the Missha Lighting Tone Up Base on TesterKorea for 7920 Won (~6.71 US$). Did you try any color correcting bases so far? Do you have a favorite one?

Review: Lailly 7 Second Make-Up Booster

16. July 2015

I’m too lazy to use primer before applying makeup, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have any. Mostly, I use my TheFaceShop Face it! Primer Moisture Fitting, but recently I have a new addition to my base make-up family, the Lailly 7 Seconds Make-Up Booster. This prepping cream is supposed to provide the skin with the perfect oil-moisture balance, so that the makeup used afterwards is long-lasting and flawless.

Lailly 7 Second Make-Up Booster

I do not have a lot of information about the Korean brand Lailly, and apart of the three products available at Wishtrend I did not see any other products from this brand. The products available at Wishtrend a cooling pore pack, a steaming pore pack and the Lailly 7 Seconds Make-up Booster I’m reviewing today. all the products have the same, simple design and come in a black jar with simple lettering on it.

Lailly 7 Second Make-Up Booster

The front label of the plastic jar displays the name and some short English description. This product has four main functions: Whitening, Anti- Wrinkle, Make-up Boosting, and Face-Conditioning. The key ingredient of the Lailly 7 Seconds Make-Up Booster is Aronia Melanocarpa (Chokeberry) Fruit Extract. Chokeberries are high in Vitamin C and are packed with antioxidantes. Apart from Chokeberry extracts the Lailly 7 Seconds Make-Up Booster contains a bunch of other fruit extracts with anstringent properties. Furthermore, the product contains on the one hand niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, and on the other hand titanium dioxide, Isoamyl p-methoxycinnamate, Ethylhexyl salicylate, Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate as sunscreens. It does not state what SPF it has unfortunately. There are some minor irritants also included in the ingredient list, but all in all the majority of the ingredients is green flagged at COSDNA. You won’t find the ingredients in English on the product label, since the backside is written in Korean only, but Wishtrend has listed the ingredients on their product page.

Lailly 7 Second Make-Up Booster

The jar contains 50 ml of a light blue colored, cream-type product. There is no spatula included, so you have to take out the product with your (clean) fingers, or use your own spoon or spatula in order to keep it hygienic. Lailly 7 Seconds Make-Up Booster is made for all skin types and is “made to cover, protect, and strengthen the skin in just 7 simple seconds!” It is recommended to people with blemish-prone, rough skin, people with enlarged pores, and people whose skin is refusing to work with make-up. The cream product has a nice baby powder scent and can be easily applied and rubbed into the skin. It blends in nicely and leaves the skin with a glow and brightens up the skin tone. Using make-up after the Lailly 7 Second Make-Up Booster has absorbed works nicely. The foundation or BB cream used above this primer doesn’t clump and it lasts longer before it gets patchy at the usual nose/chin area – but not all day long. It doesn’t make pores invisible though, much more it smoothens the skin and gives it a healthy glow.

Lailly 7 Second Make-Up Booster

The Lailly 7 Seconds Make-Up Booster is a solid makeup boosting primer giving the skin a nice glow and containing a bunch of good ingredients and sunscreen. Like most primers it also contains silicone though and cetearyl alcohol. I don’T use primer everyday, but for an occasionally user of primer this one does a good job in evening out the skintone and smoothening the skin for better make-up absorption. It retails for 18.50 US$ at Wishtrend. Also, check out the July promotions on Wishtrend before grabbing your products. Keep in mind their friend-referral program: You can receive a 5 Us$ referral coupon if you use my invitation code 17939205 upon registration and you’ll receive this voucher immediately. There will be a specific field in your registration form called “friends invitation program” where you can put the code mentioned above. This way new customers can safe 5 US$ which is a great possibility to safe some money.

Review: Secret Key Snow White Cream

13. May 2014

// KBEAUTY / AFFILIATE LINKS / SKINCARE //

My previously reviewed MeMeBox was really a lucky one! It contained a bunch of really nice products which I integrated into my skincare routine and they work out great for me. You can check out the unboxing of the MeMeBox >>here<<. The item I was especially curious and happy about was Secret Key’s Snow White Cream. I wanted to try it for over a year but I never got the chance to buy it, and like someone heard my wish it was featured in a beauty box. *(^_^)/* Happy me!
Secret Key’s Snow White Cream is a Niacinamide containing cream for brightening the skin. It has properties of a face primer and works great in combination with your favorite BB/CC cream. Snow White is one of my favorite fairytales and in my opinion, the packaging Secret Key created for this product line is the perfect hit. The main color used for designing this package is white and black for the lettering and the elegant fairytale-ish ornaments.
Even the paper card box looks elegant. It contains the in-deep description and probably the ingredients, too, in Korean only, but on one side of the box, you can find an English description, written in ornamental lettering as if it was taken from a fairytale’s book.
The jar is made of plastic and contains an extra plastic separator between the lid and the cream. Since the plastic jar doesn’t feel really sturdy and the lid is probably not perfectly closeable, I would recommend you to not throw the plastic separator away. Since the cream contains Niacinamide it is important to close the cream as tightly as possible and the lid gives at least some additional protection. The paper card box also contains a clear colored plastic spatula, so you don’t have to use your fingers and keep contamination low.
As you can see, the cream itself has a solid white and creamy texture. It looks and smells like Nivea hand cream at first, but as soon as you feel it on your skin you’ll notice the difference because it kind of emulsifies on your skin and feels soft and melts easily. I really do love the scent, but if you don’t like intensive scents, I would not recommend you to buy it- or if you are unsure, buy some samples beforehand. Because of its melting properties it blends in nicely with the skin and leaves the skin slightly brightened and definitively more radiant. For oily skin, it might be also enough moisture, but I normally use some moisturizer before, especially when my skin feels tight and dry (In the image below I didn’t use any moisturizer).
It makes your skin look a bit more even and appear softer, but it doesn’t cover your redness completely. It didn’t give me any breakouts after using it for quite a time now, and I think my skin tone has improved and looks evener. Don’t expect this cream to change your skin color and make you look like Snow White, but the Niacinamide will help to even out your darker spots with the time. If you expect a magic product which turns you beautiful overnight, I would not recommend this to you, but if you look for a nice, priming cream below your BB/CC cream I can recommend this to you. Unfortunately, I didn’t find the complete ingredients list, but since it didn’t give me any problems yet, I guess that there are not many irritants included.
Another important point: If you use vitamin C containing products keep in mind to don’t use Niacinamide containing products together with the vitamin C containing products. I’m using this cream in the morning and use my O.S.T Pure Vitamin C Serum at night. If you want to use both products for the same time, you should at least wait 20 minutes/half an hour before applying the other products, so your skin has time to absorb. If you use Niacinamide and vitamin C together vitamin C will start oxidizing.
All in all, I really like this cream. It is no cream which fulfills wonders and makes you wake up as beautiful Snow White Princess. but it contains Niacinamide, it makes your skin look primed and prepped even without BB/CC cream (if you don’t have a lot of breakouts, you can use this cream even on its own and don’t need any other makeup). The application of the cream feels soft and nice on the skin and the scent is really nice, too. Nevertheless, if you have dry skin it won’t replace your daily moisturizer. I also would have wished for a vacuum pump bottle instead of the plastic jar, because it would preserve the Niacinamide longer.
As I already said, I received the Secret Key Snow white Cream with my previous MeMeBox. If you want to try a Korean beauty box I would say that MeMeBox is one of the best subscription boxes so far. The value is always great and the products are mainly Korean, too. They have also lots of differently themed boxes and you don’t have to subscribe for it monthly, but you can choose yourself which and when you want to get a box.
As for the Secret Key Snow White Cream, it is available from the following shops:
Amazon.com for 19.05 US$
Testerkorea for ~7 US$

Review: TheFaceShop Face It Primer Moisture Fitting

21. February 2014
I’m not using foundation often, practically I don’t use them at all… Instead, I’ve been preferring using BB creams for years now and I never really thought about trying it primer for it. But lately I thought “Why not?!” Maybe it works out for me, too, to use some primer occasionally. That’s why I bought TheFaceShop Face It Primer Moisture Fitting a while ago and I’ve fallen in love with it ♥

There are three versions for this primer, one is called velvet skin, one called glow, and this one is called moisture fitting and it has a light pink packaging. The packaging is designed neat and simple. The instructions on the cardboard box are written in Korean and in English, which is a great plus!
Here is the list of ingredients for this product:
Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Cetylethylhexanoate, Hydrogenated polydecene, Cetearyl alcohol, Niacinamide, Glyceryl stearate, Glycereth-26, Butyrosperum parkii (Shea Butter), Microcrystalline wax, PEG-100 Stearate, Dimethione, Corallina officinalis extract, Citrus paradisi (Grapefruit) fruit extract, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Butylene Glycol, Triceteareth-4 phosphate, Dipentaerythrityl, Hexahydroxystearate/Hexastearate/Hexarosinate, Caprylic/Capric glycerides, PEG-2 Stearate, Glycol stearate, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone crosspolymer, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate crosspolymer, Limnantes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Potassium hydroxide, C12-14 pareth-12, Disodium EDTA, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Yellow 5, Red 4, Fragnance,Alpaha-isomethy ionone, Benzyl salicylate, Butylphenyl, Methylpropional, Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool
The ingredient list is quite long and you can look up the stats on COSDNA if you like (click >>here<< for the link to this ingredients list). It contains Alcohol and Parabens, and if you have sensitive skin you should check out the list first.
The primer comes in a bottle with a pump. the bottle is plastic, but you cannot see through it in order to see how much is left in the bottle. I love using pumps for such products, because it makes them much easier to use ♥ Again, the design stays simple, like the design of the cardboard box.
The primer itself has a creamy, lotion-like structure and has a white color. It feels moisturizing and gives the skin an instant cooling sensation. The skin feels soft and gets a nice glow after applying the primer. Furthermore, this primer is really lightweight and is not sticky at all. The scent is flower-like, but it is not overwhelming. I used both BB and CC cream with this primer and I’m really happy with the effect. My face looked great all day long and I didn’t have the need to touch up in the evening, which was really surprising. I will definitively recommend this primer to you! Maybe the Velvet Skin primer is better suited for oily skin, but for dry and normal skin I can only recommend trying TheFaceShop Face It Primer Moisture Fitting! ♥
You can get this at:
testerkorea for 12.900 Won (around US$ 13). Shipping costs depend on weight.
W2Beauty for US$ 18.99 each (free shipping option. You’ll get a 5$ voucher upon registration with this link, which is usable for orders of minimum 30$).
