Review: Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact Black

29. September 2017

// PR SAMPLE / KBEAUTY / MAKEUP //

I love cushions! At first I never thought that I would be using cushions too often and now I’m neglecting all my other BB/CC creams/foundations in tubes for my easy-to-use cushion foundations/bb creams. Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact is not the first cushion I tried, but yet, after having it used to its end I can definitely say that it has been one of my favourites!

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

First of all, Swanicoco is a Korean brand that stared off its business by creating naturally fermented soaps. Now, they have a huge range of products including skincare and make up products, but still all the products share the same believe in natural ingredients excluding artificial and chemical components. Swanicoco uses grains, fruits, herbs and oriental medicine materials as raw materials for their fermentation. By fermenting the products they can be much more easily absorbed into the skin, help retaining moisture and improve damaged skin. They state that instead of using purified water like in most existing cosmetics, Swanicoco has replaced the water with ferment filtrate. Additionally, pigments, synthetic perfumes, chemical preservatives, alcohol, mineral oil, paraben and benzophenones have been excluded from their products. Oh, and they are also free from animal testing!

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact is a multifunction make up product combined with ingredients which are beneficial for the skin. It also contains fermented ingredients and various fruit and plant-based ingredients. Also, the cushion has SPF30/ PA ++ and gives some sun protection, too. Usually, despite the sun protection stated on cushions or foundations I would still advise you to use regular sunscreen below your makeup. The layer of makeup you apply is usually very thin and that results in a weak sun protection – if at all.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

The ingredients are listed on the cardboard box, but only in Korean. Here are the ingredients in English:

Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate, Titanium Dioxide, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butylene Glycol, Octocrylene, Water, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Dimethicone, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Diisopropyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Arbutin, Glycerin, Bees wax, Sodium Chloride, Sorbitan Olivate, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, CI 77492, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Caprylyl Glycol, Dimethicone/Vinyldimethicone Crosspolymer, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, CI 77491, Mica, Aluminum Hydroxide, Propylene Carbonate, Pentylene Glycol, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract, CI 77499, Allantoin, Glyceriyl Caprylate, Hexandiol, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Adenosine, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Glyceryl Laurate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Polyglutamic Acid, Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Perilla Ocymoides Seed Oil, Tropolone, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Ethyl Ascorbyl Ether, Cordyceps militaris Extract

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

I always love the details of the cardboard boxes of Swanicoco products, with all those tiny symbols. Even the lash of the cardboard lid contains some of them.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

The Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact itself comes in a black cushion compact. It looks pretty much like all cushion pacts look like, with a application puff and a mirror inside the lid. The product is available in two shades, 21 and 23, I decided to go for 23 which usually suits my skin tone best.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

The difference to other cushions is the core of it: Unlike other cushions this one doesn’t have a make up soaked sponge inside, but a pressure plate with holes, that release a custom amount of the makeup by pressing it down.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

Above you see how it looks like before pressing down the plate and below you see how the make up is released through the holes.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

The Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact is designed for coverage. It is supposed to cover up freckles and darkness and can be used for troubled skin aswell. It has a formula with moisture balance, so it can be worn by oily skintypes, too. The formula is a creamy matte one containing moisture particles which make your skin glow. I would consider it a semi matte finish.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

The swatch looks a bit more yellowish than my skin tone, but after applying it to my skin below you can see that it looks very naturally like my own skin color. Actually, I’m probably the wrong person to judge this cushion in terms of coverage, because I don’t have much of a troubled skin thanks to my thorough skincare. Yet, my skin tends to have some redness around the nose and cheeks and in summer I have some freckles. The cushion manages to cover up the redness and my freckles very nicely. Also, it helps to reduce the appearance of my pores on my nose as you can see below. The picture before was taken after my regular skincare, by the way. Usually my skin does not glow that much :D But you can also see that finish after applying the cushion keeps the glow and even adds some sparkles here and there despite its semi matte finish. Also, it doesn’t get cakey throughout the day and looks like freshly applied for several hours before it starts to fade out.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

All in all, I’m very happy with the Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact Black. I probably never used up a cushion that fast either and I’m really sad that it is already finished. Also, I think it doesn’t have any refills. At leat I couldn’t figure out how to remove the core part of the cushion pact. I saw refills for it as well, and it is available in two shades, 21 and 23. There is also another version of the cushion available in white. The retail price lies around 30 US$. I received this cushion for reviewing purpose from Swanicoco. I also reviewed the Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream and Swan Cream Butter Edition >>here<<.

You can get the cushion here:

Review: Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquers

19. September 2017

/ PR SAMPLE / NAILS / BEAUTY /

Since May Catrice released their new range of nail polishes: the Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquers! These newly formulated nail polishes come in 45 colours and promise to be staying up to 7 days without a top coat. I guess so far I never had a nail polish that really lasted for 7 days, so of course this calls for me to try my luck here:

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquers

The Catrice ICONails are formulated with Acai Oil and give your nails a Gel Shine Finish and a long-lasting finish. The square bottles have a modern design with an edgy vibe. Below the main cap there is a second round cap with a brush attached. The length of the brush is very easy to handle and makes it easy to apply the nail polish in few strokes.

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquers

I received 4 different and versatile colours from Catrice Cosmetics to try and test for their long-livity within the frame of their #ICONailsChallenge . Plus the one that I already had it makes 5 different colours from this line. Below you can see from left to right the following shades: #16 “Cloud Nine”, a light grey-blue, #05 “It’s All About That Red”, a classic red shade, #34 “The Berry First Time!”, a berry-pink shade, #11 “Go For Gold!”, a gold-metalic shade, and #21 “Want To Be My Bridesmaid?”, a white nail polish.

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquers

For my test, I decided for the colour called “For The Berry First Time”, since I was on vacation during the test and pink was the perfect colour for the Caribbean vibes and beach.

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquers

I applied only one layer of the nail polish and I was already amazed by the pigmentation of the colour. One coat is totally enough for this shade to look perfectly shiny and nice. I would say the colour looks exactly like out of the bottle. For the test I also didn’t use any top coat, since the nail polish is supposed to be long-lasting even without top coat. Below you can see an image of my nails on the first day:

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquers

During the time I tested the nail polish I was in Mexico. This means I was wearing it through 30° C day and night, while I was at the beach, swimming, snorkeling, bicycling…etc. I really put this nail polish to its limits. And yet, below you can see the image after 5 days. Yes, there are some marks on the shiny coat of the nail polish, but still, altogether it looks still neat and has no chips. Starting from day 6 the heat and sand slowly started to make the polish fade after all.

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquers

Despite the fact that the Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer started fading starting from day 6 I’m really amazed. My experience with nail polish and beach and sand is usually that it fades after 1-2 days. This nail polish lasted for 5 days perfectly neat and shiny on my nails without a top coat. Every other nail polish I own would have been melted away by that time. Also the pigmentation of the nail polish is really great for the pink colour I selected for the test. One layer of the nail polish was enough to make it look like a proper gel manicure.

The Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquers retail for 2.99€. For this affordable price I can only recommend you to grab the one or the other colour. Have you tried the ICONails already?

Review: Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink

17. September 2017

/ PR SAMPLE / BEAUTY / MAKE-UP /

I love red lipstick, especially when going out in the evening. But the thing that has always bothered me is the longevity of lipsticks, especially after food and drinks. And the more prominent the color, the more visible it is when it actually fades away. On my hunt for a long-lasting lipstick I have really tested many different ones. I also found some inks and tints that had a really good stain and were comparably long-lasting. But this really exceeded my expectations: the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink!

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink

Maybelline is a world widely known brand with the motto “Hot Trend From New York Made Easy!”. They create easy-to-use products with latest technologies used in the field of make-up. Since matte lipsticks have been a huge trend in the last time and now Maybelline created these new Maybelline Super Stay Matte Inks, which promise to last for 16 hours.

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink

A total of 9 different colors are available and I had the chance to try one of them: #20 called “Pioneer”.

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink

This vibrant red shade of liquid lipstick comes with a sponge applicator, as usual for lip glosses and inks. The tip of the sponge is pointed and makes the application easy.

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink

As you can see from the swatch below the color is very pigmented, even with one stroke. It might be too bright and vibrant for people preferring a nude look, but if you like a good and vibrant red this shade is perfect for you. Unfortunately, I don’t have the picture of the lipstick on my lips for you here atm, because I took it with me on vacation and I haven’t unpacked everything yet :D The finish of the lipstick once it has dried is a matte one, as it says in the name already. The best part about this lip ink is that it lasts a very long time! It even lasted during a four-course dinner including drinks!!! I was so amazed when I got back to my room and looked inside the mirror. But, as you can imagine, it is also very hard to remove it fully. I didn’t have any cleansing oil with me (which might have made it easier), so even after using cleansing tissues and cleansing water, and having a shower my lips had a light red stain on them. AMAZING!

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink

If you ask me whether I’m convinced about the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink I can only say: YES! It really keeps what it says and lasted me for a whole day including food and drinking. Of course it also depends on the color, because this one is very pigmented and vibrant and it will stain your lips for a longer time, then a brighter color. If you are looking for a matte and red colored lipstick that will last you for a long time I can really recommend you to try these lipsticks from Maybelline. Nevertheless, I want to point out that this shade does not like the color in the promotional pictures on the website (at least not for my screen adjustments), so be sure to check for swatches online before you decide for a shade…or go to the store. They retail for around 9 € in drugstore or Amazon.

New month means new coupons for Wishtrend. If you don’t know Wishtrend, but love Korean or Asian cosmetics and skin care products I can recommend you to check out their online shop, especially for some of my favorite products, e.g. the O.S.T. Vitamin C Serum,  Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C serum or the ElishaCoy Moist Up Hyalurone Ampoule ToneAlso, they have listed brands like COSRX, Klairs and Mizon. You can find a list of all the products I reviewed from Wishtrend at the bottom of this post. Furthermore, they have really a great affiliate program for blogger and I can advice you to join it if you are one. So here we go:

Wishtrend Coupons

As usual, I’ll start off with the 5 US$ referral coupon you can receive if you are a new customer. The principle is easy as this: If you use my invitation code 17939205 upon registration you’ll receive a 5 US$ voucher immediately. There will be a specific field in your registration form called “friends invitation program” where you can put the code mentioned above. This way new customers can get 5 US$ off, which is a great to save some money on your first order.

If you cannot decide what to order here are some suggestion:

Wishtrend has a newly launched product again, called Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water. This watery preparation toner is applied directly after cleansing and acts as mild chemical exfoliator. I will write a review soon, but I can already tell you that if you have avoided BHAs and AHAs this might be a consideration since it is much more gentle.

Wishtrend Coupons

Another recently launched product which I reviewed a couple of days ago is Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop. This watery serum reminds me more of a first essence, and also has to be applied early in the skincare routine. It has a light blue color and contains peptides, blueberry fruit extract and guaiazulene and acts conditioning and smoothing on the skin. Read my review >>here<<.

Wishtrend Coupons

Also, their is a limited edition cosmetics pouch by Klairs which looks pretty in my opinion and is also waterproof. Seems to be great for travelling, too!

Wishtrend Coupons

I would advice you to check out their  “Free Shipping Area”, if you do not want to make use of a voucher or coupon code. They have quite some nice items available there, changing from time to time!

Unboxing: Glossybox July 2017

16. August 2017

// PR SAMPLE / AFFILIATE LINKS / UNBOXING //

The German Glossybox in July has been curated together with the makeup artist Linda Hallberg and is themed “Pink Planet Edition”. The box was kindly provided to me for reviewing purpose by Glossybox. For this special theme the box has been beautifully redesigned. Let’s see what kind of beauty adventures wait for us on our pink planet.

Glossybox July 2017

Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription box containing a selection of 5 beauty and wellness products packed in a box and delivered to your doorstep. The box was founded in 2011 and has spread in over 10 countries all over the world.

Glossybox July 2017

Glossybox July 2017

The topic of the Glossybox July 2017 was “Pink Planet Box”. This is also represented by the space design of the box, with a pink planet and a pink rocket flying towards it. This month the box contains 5 products and 2 goodies. I absolutely love the design of the box and especially that tiny rocket. It is so adorable!

Glossybox July 2017

Glossybox July 2017

As always, it also contains the so-called Glossy Magazine for the month containing all the information about the products that were added in the boxes. Let’s have a look inside:

Glossybox July 2017

Bellàpierre Cosmetics Banana Setting Powder (fullsize, 25.oo € / 4 g)

In the past I received a powder blush from Bellàpierre in a Glossybox and it had such a lovely texture and color. So happy to be able to try another product from this brand. It seems to be a popular product from the brand and can be used to fix makeup, as eyeshadow base, or simply to mattify and even the skin.

BC Oil Miracle Light Oil Shampoo (Deluxe Sample Size, 4.20 € / 30 ml)

This shampoo sounds perfect for my dry hair. It is described as crystal-clear shampoo containing micro emulsion oil droplets to make the hair soft and glowy.

Glossybox July 2017

Dove DermaSpa Pure Leichtigkeit Body Lotion (fullsize, 4.99 € / 200 ml)

I’m always open for new body lotions. This one is supposed to absorb quickly into the skin and leave a soft and fresh feeling on the skin. Looking forward to try it.

Otto Kern Never Hide Cream Shower

I didn’t try it yet, but the scent is nice and a mixture of salty / fruity. This is also perfect for upcoming vacations.

Glossybox July 2017

De Bruyère Eau de Beauté Monoi Body Splash (fullsize, 16.00 € /50 ml)

Aloha! A sweet and fresh scent for body and hair. I really like the Hawaiian vibes on the bottle. It is really cute and fits nicely into my vacation bag, too!

Glossybox July 2017

Purelei Hair Tie

There were 2 goodies included in this box. The first one you can see in the picture above with the Aloha body splash and it is an adorable pink hair tie from Purelei, perfectly fitting to the Hawaiian vibes and summer time .

Bio:Végane skinfood Bio Cranberry Sheet Mask (fullsize, 4.99 €/pc)

I love! Sheet Masks are always good to have at hands! They are a perfect timesaver, perfect for travelling and reaaaally relaxing. I was curious about that new brand Bio:Végane anyways, so I’m happy to test their sheet masks now. Key ingredients of the mask are cranberry extract and hyaluronic acid.

Glossybox July 2017

As you can see the Glossybox July 2017 only includes one makeup product. Most of the other products are focussing on skin and body care. I guess it is a nice summer box. I especially love the two goodies: sheet masks are always great and I also love hair ties.

Glossybox July 2017

Glossybox is available as flexible subscription for 15 € per month. There are also other subscription options available, like a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month subscription for 14,50 €, 13,50 €, or 12,50 € per month, respectively. Check out www.glossybox.de for more information.

Unboxing: Glossybox June 2017

25. July 2017

// PR SAMPLE // BEAUTY // UNBOXING //

I have a lot of unboxings in the next time, so i hope you won’t get too bored… I’m a bit late on this box though. Here is my unboxing of the German Glossybox for June 2017:

Glossybox June 2017

Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription box containing a selection of 5 beauty and wellness products packed in a box and delivered to your doorstep. The box was founded in 2011 and has spread in over 10 countries all over the world.

Glossybox June 2017

As mostly, the Glossybox comes in its signature pale pink box and is beautifully packed inside with a ribbon. It contains the so-called Glossy Magazine for the month of box containing all the information about the products that were added in the boxes.

Glossybox June 2017

The topic of the Glossybox June 2017 was “Salsa Summer Nights”. The products of this box were dedicated to passion and enjoyment of life during hot summer nights. Usually, Glossybox contains 5 products, but extras are added aswell. Let’s see what was inside:

Luxie Onyx Noir Small Contouring Face Brush 512 (full-size, 20.60 € /pc)

I’m always happy about makeup brushes! And since I do not have a descent contouring brush this one was perfect for me. This brush is paraben-free and vegan and has very fine and soft bristles. The price is really steep, so without the Glossybox I would probably never had considered buying it.

Glossybox June 2017

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer 05 (full-size, 2.99 € / 10.5 ml)

I was curious about the new nail polishes from Catrice the last time I was in the drugstore. I didn’t buy any and lucky as I am here is one of them…and in my favoruite nail polish color, too! Love the shade, but I haven’t tested it yet. It promises to last 7 days long without top coat and contains Acai oil.

Glossybox June 2017

Rausch Hairspray strong aerosol (4.80 € / 75 ml)

The brand Rausch is known for herbal cosmetics from Switzerland. This hair spray is supposed to have a pleasant scent and not be sticky. Also it is easy to brush out. I haven’t used it yet.

Glossybox June 2017

Ciaté London Fierce Flicks Eyeliner (full-size, 18.00 € / 1,7 ml)

My favourite product of this box! I love brush pen eyeliner and I was thinking about testing the one from Ciaté previously. I’m so happy it was part of this box, and together with the red nail polish it really brings some Salsa vibes. The brush tip is easy to use and is really pigmented. Love it!

Glossybox June 2017

Invisibobble Nano (full-size, 3.95 € / 3 pc)

These are the tiny versions of the regular Invisibobble hair ties. I like those kinds of hair ties and  the small versions will be useful for smaller braids. Looking forward to use them, a pitty though they are not black or brown :D .

Glossybox June 2017

This time two extra goodies were added:

Quickcap Beauty (Bottle and 1 cap, 21.90 € / Set (7 Caps + bottle)

The concept of Quickcap are special caps containing supplements to add to your water. The box contained a bottle and one cap from the beauty range., tasting of peach and promising the stimulation of collagen production. when looking at the ingredients list it is moistly a mix of tea and plant extracts. Nothing special. I doubt that it has any effect on collagen production and also I do not like the idea of producing more waste by using a new cap each time, apart from the high price on top. This product is not my cup of tea after all.

Glossybox June 2017

L’Oréal Hydra Genius Aloe Water

A sample of this new hydrating toner by L’Oréal was added,t oo. I’m curious about it and so I’m happy about this goodie :)

Glossybox June 2017

The products in this box were nicely selected and there were some highlights for me. What I didn’t like that much was the beauty drink Quickcaps. Apart from the taste and price it is a lot of waste which is produced by products like that. It is better to make your own beauty water by putting some herbs and fruits into plain water and drink it. I doubt that drinks like that show much of an effect. Anyways, since it was a goodie it is fine, too. Also, I do not use hair spray very often (Rausch), but apart of these two products I love all the others. The nail polish has a beautiful cilor, the eyeliner pen is awesome and the mini invisibobbles are great. And who doen’t love to receive a good quality makeup brush either?!

Glossybox is available as flexible subscription for 15 € per month. There are also other subscription options available, like a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month subscription for 14,50 €, 13,50 €, or 12,50 € per month, respectively. Check out www.glossybox.de for more information.

Unboxing: Glossybox May 2017

13. June 2017

// PR SAMPLE / BEAUTY BOX / UNBOXING//

After my positive re-discovery of the Glossybox I was more than happy when I received another box in May, although I didn’t expect any box at all. Here is my unboxing of the German Glossybox May 2017:

Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription box containing a selection of 5 beauty and wellness products packed in a box and delivered to your doorstep. The box was founded in 2011 and has spread in over 10 countries all over the world.

As mostly, the Glossybox comes in its signature pale pink box and is beautifully packed inside with a ribbon. It contains the so-called Glossy Magazine for the month of box containing all the information about the products that were added in the boxes.

The topic of the Glossybox for May 2017 was “Wild At Heart”. May is the start of summer and outdoor time and therefore it’s the perfect month to show our wild and rough styles at the next outdoor event. Therefore, Glossybox supplies us with skincare and makeup products.

Glossybox May 2017

Although the magazine says that the box contains 5 of the products which are mentioned in the magazine I spotted 6 products in my box. The products that I received are super versatile reaching from hair to body, over to makeup.

got2b Dry Shampoo

There was the option to receive the got2b dry shampoo for volume or for extra freshness. My box contained the blue version for volume. I love and use a lot dry shampoo, especially for camping and festivals…or when I cut my bangs. It is nice to see that more brands start to launch their dry shampoos after there were hardly any brands 10 years ago. Now there are all kinds of scents and colors and brands available. I still have my dry shampoo from batiste in use, but I’m looking forward to try this one from got2b.

full-size product (200 ml) retails for 3.99 €

Ultrasun Anti-Age SPF30

This cream combines anti-aging and sunscreen in one product and protects your face from UV rays this summer. It is a mild sunscreen sold at the pharmacy and contains no perfume, mineral oil, PEG/PGG, emulators, silicon, ethylhexylmethoxicinnamate, octocylene, butylmethoxydibenzoylmethan, aluminium and aluminium compounds, and preservatives. The sunscreen is water-resistant too, leaves a slightly greasiness, but all in all absorbs relatively fast. I would recommend it for people who are especially on the look for a sunscreen that avoids the mentioned ingredients.

full-size product (50ml) retails for 24,00€

travel size (25 ml) retails for 13,00 € and was included

Dr. Severin Women Original Body After Shave Balsam

This is probably my favorite product from the box and I’m so sad that it is only a travel-sized version of it. This gel can be applied on the parts of your body that you have shaved or depilated to remove body hair. It contains Witch Hazel, Menthol and Rosemary and helps to calm down the skin and make it soft. Oh, and it is vegan, too.

Review: Catrice Lip Cushion

22. May 2017

Recently, there have been several product launches from Catrice Cosmetics that I really loved. One of their inspirations for their new products comes from asian beauty products, which makes me -as asian beauty product lover – super happy. I’ve already been excited when the first oil cleansers and sheet masks launched by western brands appeared at the drugstores and now it is even makeup. Here is my impression of the Catrice Lip Cushion:

Catrice Lip Cushion

Catrice is calling out for the term “asianification”, which means the creation of products that are inspired by the technology and ingredients used in the asian beauty industry. At the moment cushion products are one of the focus points. Apart from cushion foundations cushions have been used with asian beauty products for all kinds of makeup: lip cushions, eye liner cushions, blush cushion…Catrice Cosmetics has chosen the lip cushion amongst other things.

Catrice Lip Cushion

Catrice Lip Cushion is a lip gloss with medium pigmentation which is applied via a jumbo sponge applicator. There are a total of 6 colors available. Here I show you shade 050 A Little Soulfruit:

Catrice Lip Cushion

This lip gloss contains avocado oil to moisturize the lips and leaves – as typical for a gloss – a glossy finish on the lips. If you remove the cap you will spot the sponge applicator. It is still white and unused.

Catrice Lip Cushion

If you want to apply the lip gloss you have to twist the bottom part of the Catrice Lip Cushion Pencil.

Catrice Lip Cushion

For the first application I twisted 2-3 times until I saw that the sponge gets slowly soaked with the tint.

Catrice Lip Cushion

The sponge tip is very soft upon application and is very easy to use.

Catrice Lip Cushion

And this is how the Catrice Lip Cushion in 050 A Little Soulfruit looks when applied on my lips. Below I also show you the swatch of the product on my arm. Since it is a lip gloss it still has that sticky feeling to it, to my personal dislike. I prefer tints and lipsticks over the sticky texture, but on the other hand your lips won’t feel dry when applying the lip gloss and it also gives some more volume to the lips than tints and lipsticks.

Catrice Lip Cushion

I’m happy about seeing more products that are inspired from asian beauty trend. The Catrice Lip Cushion clearly remind me of the lip cushions by Etude House. Unlike the Catrice Lip Cushion the ones from Etude House were no lip gloss, bur creamy lip paint. That caused that the sponge applicator was after a while completely blocked by the dried product. Other brands started to provide their products with a second applicator sponge which you could exchange, one the first one was to dirty or unusable. I would wish that Catrice also offers these additional sponges at some point. It would also help to keep the product more hygienic. But considering the price of only 4.99 € each you cannot complain to be honest.

Did you try the Catrice Lip cushion already? What are your thoughts of “asianification”?

Unboxing: Glossybox April 2017

7. May 2017

// PR SAMPLE/ UNBOXING /BEAUTY //

It’s been a long time since my last Glossybox unboxing. I think my last one was in 2014, if I remember correctly. There are so many new beauty boxes and subscription boxes on the market these days that it is hard to decide for a favorite one. Glossybox was probably the first beauty subscription box, at least to my knowledge. I remember how excited I was when I received my first bundle of surprises back then. I’m also happy that I can share their latest box, the Glossybox April 2017, with you today, which was provided to me for reviewing purpose.

Glossybox April 2017

Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription box containing a selection of 5 beauty and wellness products packed in a box and delivered to your doorstep. The box was founded in 2011 and has spread in over 10 countries all over the world.

Glossybox April 2017

The topic of the German Glossybox for April 2017 was “Frühlingserwachen” (engl: spring awakening) and the products selected for the box are revolving around the first warm sun shine and colorful flowers.

My box contained 6 different product, although I only expected 5. This was a nice surprise! The products were well-balanced between, skincare, bodycare, and make-up and below you can see the content of the box. Unlike with the past boxes there is no product description card any longer, but a small magazine, containing descriptions for all the possible products that were included in the April boxes. Apart from the product information the magazine also includes a recipe and a preview for the next box.

Glossybox April 2017

Merci Handy Hand Cleansing Gel

Merci Handy Hand Cleansing Gel is probably one of the highlights of the box. The small and colorful bottles of the hand cleansing gel/ hand sanitizer fit into a small hand bag and are perfect for taking them along with you. For the application you apply a drop of the gel into your palms and rub it into the skin. The blue pearls inside the gel provide moisture and prevent the drying of the skin. There are seven different versions available: Chérie Cherry, New Wave, Flower Power, Oh my Lemon, Lollipop, Coco Rico, and Black Vanilla. I received Black Vanilla in my box, which would not have been my first choice, but the scent reminds me of vanilla candy and is not too overpowering. By the way, the size and the blue pearls inside remind me of the hand sanitizer of Nature Republic, which I love!

full-size product (30 ml) retails for 3,00 €

Merci Handy Hand Cleansing Gel

La Roche-Posay Micellar Cleansing Water Ultra

La Roche-Posay Micellar Cleansing Water Ultra is my personal highlight of the Glossybox, although it only comes in a 100 ml travel-size. I’m using cleansing water very frequently and if you have dry skin it is one of the better ways to prevent your skin from drying out and still cleansing it effectively. The cleansing water from La Roche-Posay removes make-up and eye-make-up and also soothes the skin by using thermal water. When using cleansing water you do not need to wash your face afterwards, which makes it a great companion for camping and outdoor vacation. Personally, when I’m using cleansing waters at home, I still use water afterwards.

full-size product (200 ml) retails for 12,50 €

travel-size product (100 ml) retails for 6,90 €

La Roche-Posay Micellar Cleansing Water Ultra

Icona Milano Beautyfing Touch Mattyfing Primer Base

Icona Milano Beautyfing Touch Mattyfing Primer Base is a paraben- and scent-free primer with a creamy formula. It reduces the appearance of pores and wrinkles, evens out the skin-tone and prepares the skin for the upcoming make-up. The weightless and resident-free formula is perfect for spring and summer and doesn’t make your skin feel greasy.

full-size product (30 ml) retails for 24,50 €

Icona Milano Beautyfing Touch Mattyfing Primer Base

n.6 Beauty Experience Colour Studio Super Gloss

n.6 Beauty Experience Colour Studio Super Gloss is a long-lasting and moisturizing gloss with a soft texture and five different available vibrant colours. It has an applicator made from natural hair and is supposed to last up to 6 hours. I’m not the type that wears lip gloss a lot, so I didn’t try this product yet, but the vibrant orange colour (shade 2 “Techno Orange”) that was included in my box looks like a nice colour for spring.

full-size product (6 ml) retails for 14,90 €

n.6 Beauty Experience Colour Studio Super Gloss

Betty Barclay Fragrances Pure Pastel Mint Cream Shower

Betty Barclay fragrances Pure Pastel Mint Cream Shower makes your skin soft and refreshes with a floral fruity scent. It moisturizes the skin and keeps it silky soft. The product included was a 75 ml travel-sized tube. I’m looking forward to take this with me on my next short vacation.

full-size product (150 ml) retails for 10,75 €

Betty Barclay Fragrances

Kneipp Pampering Cream Oil Peeling

The 6th product that was added as an extra was the Cream-Oil Peeling from Kneipp. I’ve wanted to try this peeling since they released it in winter, but I always forgot to bring one sachet from the drug store along with me. Perfect thing that this was included in my Glossyboy now. I’m looking forward to try this one soon. This vegan sugar-based peeling removes dead skin cells and moisturizes and nourishes the skin in the same time. It is free from preservatives, paraffins, silicone and mineral oils and free from animal testing, too.

full-size product (40 ml) retails for 1,49 €

Kneipp Verwöhnendes Creme-Öl-Peeling

How do you like the content of the Glossybox for April 2017? There are some products which I’m really excited to try, like the cleansing water, the hand sanitizer, and the peeling. The other product from my box were okay, but nothing that I would have bought on my own. The total value of the products lies around 56 € which is far more than the prize you pay for a box. Considering the value this box was amazing, especially if you are new into skincare/beauty products and in need of the products shown here. For me personally, the primer and the gloss, which make the most value of the box are nothing that need necessarily at the moment. There were other variations of the products for the April box which would have been more suiting for me personally, but since it is a surprise box, you never know what’s inside. That’s part of the surprise after all.

Glossybox is available as flexible subscription for 15 € per month. There are also other subscription options available, like a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month subscription for 14,50 €, 13,50 €, or 12,50 € per month, respectively. Check out www.glossybox.de for more information.

Review: Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

2. May 2017

// PR SAMPLE / KBEAUTY / MAKEUP //

You know that I love cushions and I have quite some in my stash, but I didn’t have a sunscreen cushion in my collection until recently. During last summer vacation, I thought that it might be nice to try a sunscreen cushion for touching up the sun protection during the day and therefore I decided to go with the Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion in a first test which was provided to me for reviewing purpose by StyleKorean.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Aprilskin is a Korean natural cosmetics brand which was raved a lot about during last year, especially for their cushion foundation. The brand is fairly young and was founded in 2014, but since then has won a numerous amount of prizes for their products. All though I love cushions I didn’t buy ny of their raved cushions and so I was happy to be asked by StyleKorean and be able to choose a product from this brand. I decided for the Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

The Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion is an ultra-lightweight sunscreen that comes in a cushion compact. It is mildly formulated, making it suitable for children and adults according to the description. Furthermore, it doesn’t leave a white cast and yet has SPF 50+ /PA+++. The UV-protection is mineral based and still, it claims to leave no white traces. As you know, sun protection has to be renewed from time to time, but I personally am quite a lazy person. I discovered that I hardly ever touch up my sun protection on my skin and a cushion would make that far easier than a tube.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

The Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion comes packed in a cardboard box in a light pink color. The cushion compact itself has also a nice pink pattern on the lid and looks really feminine. The description on the cardboard box is only in Korean, but Aprilskin’s official site offers an English translation, too.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Here are the ingredients of the product, which I also added in COSDNA:

Water, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Butylene Glycol, Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid, Triethanolamine, Niacinamide, Dimethicone, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Octocrylene, Glycerin, Stearyl Alcohol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Lavender Oil, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Evening Primrose Flower Extract, Blackberry Fruit Extract, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Xylitylglucoside, Xylitol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Raspberry Fruit Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Tea Tree Leaf Oil, Banana Fruit Extract, Apple Fruit Extract, Pear Fruit Extract, Orange Fruit Extract, Grape Fruit Extract, Serine, Sodium Phosphate, Sodium Hydroxide, Pseudoalteromoonas Ferment Extract, Alanine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Xanthan Gum, Proline, Madecasoside

I marked the sunscreens within the list in blue.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Frankly, I’m no sunscreen expert. The field is so complex and until now I never had the time to really go deep into the topic. The product description says, that this cushion only uses physical sunscreen. I spot already two chemical sunscreens from looking at the list: Octinoxate (Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate) and Avobenzone (Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane)….mh…that’s the first disappointment … Checking the other sunscreens I spot that Octocrylene and Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (Uvinol A Plus) are chemical sunscreens, too. Commonly used physical sunscreens are Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, but I do not spot any of these here. I’m quite confused…is this product using physical sunscreens at all?!

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Inside the cushion compact is the typical application sponge. In order to use the sunscreen cushion, you dab the application puff on the cushion sponge until the product is transferred. Then you dab the puff on your face in a patting motion. Don’t smear or rub it on the skin.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Of course, the cushion compact comes with a mirror inside the lid, too, so it is perfect for carrying around and use it while not at home, too. Unlike cushion foundations, the sponge in the compact is not soaked with BB Cream or Foundation, but with sunscreen. Therefore the color of the sponge is white.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

The sunscreen has a creamy consistency. It gives a visible glow to the skin but doesn’t leave any white cast. While applying it on the skin I can feel a cooling effect of the product. The scent of it is also flowery/fresh. It contains some plant-based ingredients like Lavandula, chamomile, and tea tree oil, which create the scent of the product. I didn’t have any problems with the application of the product and it also can be touched up and layered without any further problems.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion has a nice texture and finish, but I’m disappointed that it is not a physical sunscreen as it states on their page. I personally am not someone who refuses any chemical sunscreens, but I prefer it if the description of products are correct. As I said, I’m no sunscreen expert, so if there is anyone who can explain more about the chemicals used here I would be happy to hear about it. Let me know in the comments or write me an email/PN. Oh, and since some of the chemical sunscreens may have effects on hormones and hormonal pathways I would not use this sunscreen on children, despite its mild formulation.

I received this product from StyleKorean, but they do not have it listed in their shop at the moment. They have other cushions from Aprilskin though, so have a look if you are interested. The Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion retails for 26.99 US$ from Amazon.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Did you try any sunscreen cushion already? If you have a favorite let me know. Oh, and what is your favorite sunscreen? I’d be interested to hear about it.
