Review: Iunik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil

18. February 2019

// PR SAMPLE / SKINCARE / KBEAUTY //

As you might know, I love the double cleansing method. If you don’t know what it is, I can recommend you so much to try it. With the double cleansing method, you use an oil-based cleanser first to remove your makeup, and the continue with a second cleanser for cleansing your skin. In my eyes, oil cleansers and balm cleansers are the most effective way to remove makeup. Here is one of the oil cleansers that I’m using at the moment: the Iunik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil.

Iunik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil

IUnik is a Korean brand that has launched a couple of interesting skincare products. Their packaging design is simple but neat, and the products sound promising. you can check out the products >>here<< on the official webpage. I also reviewed the Iunik Rose Galactomyces Essential Toner and Synergy Serum some time ago here on my blog. I was happy and curious to try a new product from their range this time.

Iunik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil

The Iunik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil is a mild cleansing oil suitable for all skin types that contains 94% of pure plant oil. The packaging design is simple as expected for the brand and the ingredients list is short and down to the point, which I really like.

Iunik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil

Ingredients: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil,  Canola Oil, Calendula Officinalis Flower extract, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Cananga odorata flower oil, Sorbitan Sesquioleate

This is the full ingredients list! 7 ingredients and 5 of them are plant-based oils. I love that fact. You can also check the ingredients via SkinCarisma if you want to. The product is free from parabens, sulfates, alcohol, silicone. It is EU allergen free and has a minimalistic ingredients list.

Iunik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil

Iunik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil

The cleansing oil comes in a pump bottle containing 200ml, which will last you for a long time. I’ve been using this cleanser now for 2 months in rotation with some other cleansers and I’ve used half of the bottle.

Iunik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil

The texture is typical for an oil cleanser and feels like oil, too. it emulsifies when it is in contact with water. Usually, you apply cleansing oils on your dry skin and rub gently, to dissolve the makeup and the dirt. Then, using lukewarm water emulsify the oil on your face and work it in some more, before washing it off. Then, follow up with your preferred second cleanser. It perfectly removes the makeup and works great in my eyes. the short ingredients list is a plus if you are looking for products with limited irritation triggers. It doesn’t have any specific scent apart from a typical vegetable oil scent.

Iunik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil

All in all, I think that many people will like this oil cleanser for a short and not complicated ingredients list. On the other hand, seeing the price tag of 21.99US$ is a bit high in my eyes, regarding that it is mostly vegetable oil used here. Some people might think that it is actually cheaper to mix up your own oil cleanser using some plant-based oils. What are your thoughts on this?

Have you tried any products from iUnik, yet?

Review: Bio:Végane Skinfood Organic Acai Cleansing Gel

9. July 2018

// SKINCARE / BEAUTY / PR SAMPLE //

It is rare that I’m wow-ed by a second cleanser like foam or gel, but here I have one that I absolutely love since I started using it: the Bio:Végane Skinfood Organic Acai Cleansing Gel! And surprise, it is not asian beauty product either :)

Bio:Végane Skinfood Organic Acai Cleansing Gel

Bio:Végane Skinfood is a vegan and natural cosmetics brand that has launched newly in Germany. They first came into my view with one of the first certified sheet masks made in Germany and distributed in local drugstores. Always curious about sheet masks that are available here in Germany, I tried some of their masks and also received a few products from the brand’s Green Tea line as a present from my sister, which I included in my skin care routine during the time.

Bio:Végane Skinfood Organic Acai Cleansing Gel

The Bio:Végane Skinfood Organic Acai Cleansing Gel was also a recommendation from my sister and kindly, when we went to the beauty convention Glowcon here in Germany, we were gifted a tube of this cleanser by the lovely people from Bio:Végane Skinfood.

Bio:Végane Skinfood Organic Acai Cleansing Gel

Bio:Végane Skinfood is free from paraffins, parabens, silicone, synthetic dyes and fragrance and of course it is free from animal testing. I don’t know if it is relevant for skin care, but it is free from Gluten and lactose too. The brand is a certified natural cosmetics brand and their products have a clear product design, which is white in combination with a pattern that represents the key ingredient, eg. green leaves for the green tea line, or blue berries for the acai line.

The ingredients of the cleanser are: Water, Glycerin, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Coco-glucoside, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Dehydroxanthan Gum, Benzyl Alcohol, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Enantia Chlorantha Bark Extract, Oleanolic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Fragrance, Linalool, Limonene, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate

The key ingredient Acai is a berry which comes originally from Brasil. It contains many antioxidants and is rich in vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients. Additionally, jojoba oil and wild rose oil prevent the hydration loss of the skin and act as moisturizing ingredients. In first place, this cleanser is dedicated for people with combination skin. I have dry skin and still I think this cleanser is suited perfectly. You can check out the details on the ingredients at SkinCarisma.

Bio:Végane Skinfood Organic Acai Cleansing Gel

What I love about the Bio:Végane Skinfood Organic Acai Cleansing Gel is first of all the gel-type formula and the fact that it is not drying for my dry skintype. It does produce a moderate amount of foam nonetheless, which is enough to have that feeling of a foam cleanser despite the gel type formula. The second point why I love this cleanser so much is definitely the scent! It is really addicting and so fresh and fruity. Usually, I remove makeup with an oil-based cleanser first and then I use my second step cleansing foam, which would be this one here. My skin feels bright and clear after using it and no signs of any negative reaction or tightness. Additionally, it has some kind of matte effect on the skin, making it look extra clear. Currently, I’m using my second tube of this cleanser :)

The Bio:Végane Skinfood Organic Acai Cleansing Gel contains 150 ml and retails for 7.95US$. Currently, the products are only available in Germany. You will find the products at the drugstore dm or you can purchase directly from Bio:Végane Skinfood.

Did you come across Bio:Végane already?

Review: Labiotte Wine Sherbet Cleanser

27. February 2018

//PR SAMPLE / AFFILIATE LINKS / KBEAUTY //

Since I was talking about cleansing balms the other day on Instagram, I thought I might as well review the cleansing balm that I have currently in use: the Labiotte Wine Sherbet Cleanser. This cleansing balm was provided to me by BBCOSMETIC. But the review is so delayed, because I had so many cleansers to use up first…

Labiotte Wine Sherbet Cleanser

Labiotte is a korean cosmetics brands that gained a lot of attention with their Wine Lip Tint. These cute, Korean lip tints came in a tube, shaped like a miniature wine bottle. Even I couldn’t resist to buy one of those, although I have more than enough lip tints. If you love these kinds of themed packaging designs, you can also fall easily for this product here: The Labiotte Wine Sherbet Cleanser is shaped like a glass of red wine!

Labiotte Wine Sherbet Cleanser

The plastic jar is so adorable and it is hard to resist to take some themed pictures with it :D The jar contains 80 ml, by the way, and lasts for quite some time, if you are not a daily heavy makeup wearer like me. So, for those of you who never heard about cleansing balms or sherbet cleansers: These balm-type cleansers are made to melt off the makeup from your face. The firm texture melts down to oil by the warmth of your face, while you rub it on your face to remove makeup and other impurities. Then, when you wash your face with water it emolifies to a milky texture to wash all away. Usually, after using an oil cleanser or a cleansing balm, you are supposed to do second cleansing with a cleansing foam or gel.

Labiotte Wine Sherbet Cleanser

When removing the lid of the glass-shaped jar you will discover a spatula and a second plastic lid. You can use the spatula to scoop out the balm from the jar and keep it more hygienic. The cleansing balm itself has a light pink color and a floral/fruity scent, which is pleasant. The ingredients of the cleansing balm are:

Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Mineral Oil, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, PEG-10 Isostearate, Polyethylene, C13-15 Alkane, Eclipta Prostrata Extract, Melia Azadirachta Branch/Leaf Extract, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Mesembryanthemum Crystallinum Extract, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Wine Extract (1 ppm), Nelumbium Speciosum Flower Extract, Prunus Mume Fruit Extract, Trihydroxystearin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Butylene Glycol, Water, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance

Labiotte Wine Sherbet Cleanser

You can check the ingredients via SkinCarisma. They really do a nice ingredients analysis on their page. The balm is free from talc, sulfates, propylene glycol, formaldehyde-releasers, dye, alcohol, parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, formaldehyde, PEG, coal-tar, triclosan, and silicons silicones. And yet there are some beneficial ingredients, too. You will spot Lactic Acid for skin conditioning, Wine Extract as antioxidant, Glycerin as skin conditioning ingredient, and of course oils, like olive oil, moringa oil, and grape seed oil. If you have sensitive, allergic skin and skin troubles a closer look at the ingredients list is always advised. Do a patch test before using cosmetics anyways.

Labiotte Wine Sherbet Cleanser

Here you can see how the balmy texture turns into oil once it comes into contact with the skin. Nevertheless, I didn’t feel that it leaves a greasy or uncomfortable feeling after washing it off.

Labiotte Wine Sherbet Cleanser

When it comes to makeup removing this cleansing balm takes everything off and is very reliable. So far it never has failed me and is really a nice cleansing balm, that comes with a cute packaging on top…and a nice smell. I can recommend to give it a try!

Labiotte Wine Sherbet Cleanser

I received this cleansing balm from BBCOSMETIC where it retails for 16.65 US (I don’t know if the code Q2C8JX9N45R3O for a chance of 10 % off your order is still valid). You can also get the Labiotte Wine Sherbet Cleanser on amazon.com for 20.55 US$ or amazon.de for 16.40€.

Did you hear about the brand Labiotte? Have you tried any of their products? I also have the famous Labiotte Wine Lip Tint. Do you want me to review it, too?

asian cosmetics beauty PR Sample review Wishtrend

Review: By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash

12. November 2017

// PR SAMPLE / AFFILIATE LINKS / KBEAUTY //

I love drinking tea and green tea is one of my favourites! The scent makes me feel awake in the mornings and also I tend to love skincare products containing green tea a lot regarding their scent. A new product from Wishtrend called By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash has just launched and I am so happy to be able to report to you about my experiences on testing this product for the last weeks.

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash

Probably, you know that Wishtrend does not only sell other Korean brands but also has a step in the beauty industry itself. Apart from known brand names Klairs or Jungle Botanics they also have products named under the brand “By Wishtrend”. Well-known products from By Wishtrend are the Vitamin C 21.5 Advanced Serum, Natural Vitamin 21.5 Enhancing Vitamin Mask, or the Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water which I reviewed not long ago. The latest addition to the By Wishtrend product family is the By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash.

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash is a cleanser that comes in powder form. In order to make the product ready for cleansing your skin you have to add water or your favourite watery toner to the powder and lather it up. Powder Wash are probably one of my favourite cleansing types for travelling, since the product will never leak and create a mess during transportation if it breaks. The powder wash comes in a pale green plastic bottle which makes it very lightweight and perfectly portable. The packaging is very simple and only shows the product name and some minor description on the backside. The cardboard box has the same green color and simple design, but it contains more thorough information on the sides in Korean and English.

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash

Green Tea

Green tea does not only have health benefits when consumed, but also has many benefits for the skin when applied topically. It contain polyphenols and Vitamins A,C, and E, which have anti-oxidant properties, and so it acts anti-aging and protects the skin from UV damage. Moreover, it also has moisturizing, soothing and smoothening properties on the skin. It is practically an all-rounder and has been used for many years in cosmetics products, especially in the asian region, where drinking green tea and tea in general is a major part of the culture.

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash

Other key ingredients of the By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash are Papain, Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Powder), and Amino Acid Surfactants derived from coconut. Papain is an enzyme that mildly exfoliates your skin and acts as skin conditioner. Baking powder has skin conditioning and exfoliating properties as well. It is more abrasive than papain and suited to help acne-prone skin to get rid of skin troubles. Last but not least, the amino acid surfactants have a weak acidity and moisture retaining properties. The ingredients list in total is not very long and you can find the full english ingredients listed on the cardboard box packaging:

Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Lysine HCL, Proline, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Acetyl Methionine, Theanine, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Sorbitol, Papain, Betaine, Cellulose Gum, Citric Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate

You can check the ingredients via COSDNA or Skincarisma to see what the single ingredients are for. The product is free from alcohol, paraben and sulphates. It has mainly brighteing, exfoliating and  anti aging properties and is in generally suited for all skintypes, but it contains corn starch and citric acid. Corn starch can be irritating for acne-prone skintypes and citric acid has to be used with care for sensitive skintypes. I personally have dry skin and didn’t react in a negative way the Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash.

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash

As I said before you have to mix this powder with lukewarm water (or your favourite toner) to lather it up. The Wishtrend description recommends lukewarm water to activate the enzyme properties of the cleanser. Also, it is recommended not to use AHAs/BHAs, highly concentrated Vitamin C, Retinol, etc. together with the product, because the cleanser already contains exfoliating ingredients and you do not want to over-exfoliate your skin. For sensitive skintypes it is recommended to use the cleanser only 2-3 times a week.

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash

First of all, the By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash smells amazing! It has the scent of fresh matcha tea or matcha latte and just is sooo yummy if you are a green tea lover like me. I feel directly refreshed by the scent when I’m using this cleanser. The foam that is created is not a lot, but only a very watery lather, but on the other hand it is not drying on the skin either. The pH I tested was at 7, but it largely depends on your tap water (or toner) in this case. Regarding it cleansing properties I can recommend it as second step cleanser. It won’t do the work as full makeup remover, so I would use an oil cleanser or balm cleanser to remove my makeup first and then use the powder wash. More often I preferred to use this wash in the mornings as only cleanser though! The powder wash will make the skin feel really refreshed, but not dried out. Moreover the skin feels super soft after application and you can feel that it really works with all these exfoliating ingredients.

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash

For me the By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash is perfect as once in a while morning cleanser. Usually, I only use water or cleansing water in the mornings. This powder wash adds some nice exfoliating effects and has an amazing scent that makes you feel awake! Since it contains many exfoliating ingredients people with sensitive skin have to try it out slowly, using it only few times in the week. I can imagine that it will act very positively on people with acne prone skin and make the skin feel smoothened out.

If you are curious about the By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash, too, it usually retails for 22.00 US$ and is available at Wishtrend. But at the moment it is on launching sale until 16th November for only  17.60US$. Keep in mind the friend-referral program from Wishtrend: You can receive a 5 Us$ referral coupon if you use my invitation code 17939205 upon registration and you’ll receive this voucher immediately. There will be a specific field in your registration form called “friends invitation program” where you can put the code mentioned above. This way new customers can safe 5 US$ which is a great possibility to safe some money. Also, Wishtrend has a Free-Shipping Area, were you can find products that can be bought with free shipping. There won’t be any Wishtrend Coupons for this months because of the upcoming Black Friday sales. But there are special prices available for the powder wash in combination with the Vitamin 75 Maximizing Cream and 21.5 Enhancing mask.

What is your impression on the By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash? Have you tried powder washes before?

Review: Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

27. September 2017

// PR SAMPLE / SKINCARE / KBEAUTY //

The last products I received from LoveMyCosmetics as part of their ambassador program for the Korean brand Klairs is the Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser. I talked about the Klairs Gentle Black Cleansing Oil and Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish previously, so be sure to check out these two reviews as well. By now those who are reading my blog for some time know how much I love the products from the brand Klairs. I almost tried all their products at least once and they never disappoint me. A good thing is also that Klairs frequently updates their products regarding their ingredients or their packaging and volume. And usually they listen to the recommendations and remarks made from their customer in reviews.

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

Klairs is a Korean brand which is eco-friendly, producing products which are animal-testing-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, artificial-color-free and recently they are vegan, too. Their products address people with sensitive skin and people who want to moisturize their skin. I reviewed some of their products before, like the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum or the Klairs Midnight Blue Cream, which both convinced me in their effects. I also love the Klairs Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, which by the way has been updated and improved, too. Their saying “Simple but Enough” really nails it and I think that many people will agree in that point with me.

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

The Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser is a hypoallergenic face wash containing low irritant amino acids instead of chemical detergents. Together with hyaluronic acid, olive oil and ceramide 3 in addition to a pH of 5-6 it keeps the skins moisture level and prevents it from feeling dry. The cleanser comes in a pumping bottle, which makes it very easy to use and you do not have to use an additional foaming net to foam up the cleanser.

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

The ingredients are listed on the bottle itself:

Water, Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, Glycerin, Propylen glycol, Lauric acid, Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Sodium hyaluronate, Dimethyl sulfone, Potassium hydroxide, Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract, Betaine, Stearic acid, Chamaecyparis obtusa water, Ananas sativus(pineapple) fruit extract, Chlorphenesin, Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf oil, Illicium verum (anise) fruit extract, Citrus paradisi (grapefruit) fruit extract, Nelumbium speciosum flower extract, Paeonia suffruticosa root extract, Scutellaria baicalensis root extract, Panthenol, Citric acid, Pyridoxine, Linum usitatissimum (linseed) seed extract, Hibiscus esculentus fruit extract, Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, Arctium lappa root extract, Hibiscus mutabilis flower extract, Corchorus olitorius leaf extract, Hydrolyzed pea protein, Lecithin, Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, Phytosterols, Squalane, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Ceramide NP, Propanediol, Apium graveolens (celery) extract, Brassica oleracea capitata (cabbage) leaf extract, Brassica oleracea italica (broccoli) extract, Brassica rapa (turnip) leaf extract, Daucus carota sativa (carrot) root extract, Oryza sativa (rice) bran extract, Solanum lycopersicum (tomato) fruit/leaf/stem extract, Lysine hcl, Proline, Sodium ascorbyl phosphate, Acetyl methionine, Theanine, Tocopheryl acetate, Panax ginseng callus culture extract, Piper methysticum leaf/root/stem extract, Centella asiatica extract, Portulaca oleracea extract, Beta-glucan, Papain

There are a lot of plant-based ingredients included in this cleanser. Just some to stress some are : licorice extract, aloe vera, tea tree oil, shea butter, rice bran extract…ect. But also fruit extracts like pineapple and papain for a light peeling effect. The product is free from alcohol, animal testing, parabens and artificial pigments. also it is designed as an eco-friendly product. You can also check out Skincarisma for an ingredient analysis.

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

The foam itself is very soft and not a thick solid foam like you would expect from shaving foam for example. There are visible bubbles and it has a herbal scent to it. I use the Klairs Rich Moist Cleansing Foam as second step of my cleansing routine after I have removed the makeup with another oil-based cleanser. This cleanser is also not made for removing make up. Instead it will make your skin feel clear and cared for after you already removed the layer of your makeup. I think it is a nice cleanser and it doesn’t dry out my skin, even after several cleansing steps.

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser

If you are looking for a good and non-drying, easy to use second cleanser for your double cleansing routine you will like this cleanser. The pump application makes it so easy to use and saves you some time. The ingredients are great, too, and eco-friendly on top! It is made for all skintypes and comes with 100 ml in full-size. The Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser retails for 22,95 € from LoveMyCosmetics. Oh, and here is a little bonus for my lovely readers: You can get a discount of 10% using the coupon code “misslavenklairs” while shopping on LoveMyCosmetics!

Did you try the Sugar Scrub from Klairs?

Review: Atoclassic Real Tonic Soothing Multi Cleanser and Origin Essence

3. October 2016

I do not own many hanbang cosmetic products, allthough I would love to. Usually, because of the high quality ingredients derived from traditional chinese medicine hanbang products tend to be more pricey. The dear and overly lovely Jieun from Kokofash was so unbelievably kind and send out a bunch of products to me for reviewing prupase, all by the brand Atoclassic. I’m really thankful, and even more because she gave me all the time I needed for writing the reviews without asking how long it might take. I really tested all the products thoroughly since May and Im so happy to be able to write the reviews now. She send me a total of 4 products, plus four different types of sheet mask, so I will make three separate reviews, starting with the Atoclassic Real Tonic Soothing Multi Cleanser and Soothing Origin Essence today.

Atoclassic Real Tonic

Atoclassic is a Korean hanbang brand with more than 100 years of experience, developed by a Korean herbal medicine doctor family of three generations. They opened their clinic in 1912 and been devoted to treating skin diseases and troubles since 1997 and by now there are 15 clinics across Korea. The same ingredients for treatments used in these clinics (both internal and external) have been used to create Atoclassic skincare line. The Real Tonics skincare range thereby focuses on enhancing complexion in whole.

Atoclassic Real Tonic

The design of the brands products is simple, and yet really beautiful! All the products have white containers with black/grey flower and plant illustrations. There is a rosegolden ring around the cap of the products which makes it even more elegant and beautiful! All the products are packed in separate cardboard boxes with the similar beautiful design. I was absolutely stunned when I opened the box! The Atoclassic Real Tonic skincare products consist of a cleanser, an essence, a lotion and a cream. A toner is still being developed. Furthermore, there are 4 different sheet masks available. Here are my first two reviews for the Atoclassic Real Tonic Soothing Multi Cleanser and Soothing Origin Essence:

Atoclassic Real Tonic

Atoclassic Real Tonic Soothing Multi Cleanser

The Atoclassic Real Tonic Soothing Multi Cleanser is a gel-type cleanser designed for all skin types, but especially for those people with skin troubles or sensitive skins…or even for pregnant people. With a light acidic pH it promotes the natural resilience of the skin and thus combats stress.

Atoclassic Real Tonic

Ingredients: Water, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Leaf Extract, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Chrysanthellum Indicum Extract, Potassium cocoyl glycinate, Lauryl Glucoside, Dipropylene Glycol, Codonopsis Lanceolata Root Extract, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Algin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA , Xanthium Strumarium Fruit Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Leaf Extract, Angelica Tenuissima Root Extract, Pogostemon Cablin Leaf Extract, Poncirus Trifoliata Fruit Extract, Nardostachys Chinensis Root Extract, Lysimachia Foenum-graecum Extract

First of all, you see that the ingredients list is relatively short. 11 out of the 22 ingredients are plant extracts: Japanese Cypress Leaf Extract has soothing properties and Patchouli is giving the cleanser its scent. All the other plant, root and flower extracts have skin conditioning and restoring properties. You can look up the ingredients from COSDNA. you will also see that almost all ingredients are labbeled green. The ingredients contain algin, which is a potential irritant, so please make a patch test before using the product on your face.

Atoclassic Real Tonic

The Atoclassic Real Tonic Soothing Multi Cleanser comes in a large 200 ml pump bottle with a sturdy pacakging and a beautiful design. The head of the pump is short, so you have to take it into your hand to pump. The first time I used the product I had to pump a couple of times before it started working. Now, I use two pumps for cleansing my face. If you wear light makeup this can be used as your only cleanser, because it is mild and can be used on the eyes aswell to remove some makeup, but usually I would suggest you to use this cleanser after removing makeup. The lightly pink colored gel transforms into a soft and light lather and has a specific herbal scent. Actually, I never thought about patchouli as scent, but know since I wrote it down it has some similarities. At first the scent was a bit strange for me, but now, after using it for so many months I got used to it and really think that it is a relieving scent. A very gentle cleanser that doesn’t dry out the skin, but also doesn’t leave the skin greasy or leave the feeling of a film on the skin. The pH of the cleanser lies at 4, which is great if you are using actives in your skincare routine.

Atoclassic Real Tonic

Atoclassic Real Tonic Soothing Origin Essence

This gel-type restorative essence calms and nurtures the skin. Like the cleanser it is suited for all skin-types , but especially for those people with skin troubles or sensitive skins…or even for pregnant people. The essence has a light formulation and therefore can also be applied around the eyes without being discomfortable.

Atoclassic Real Tonic

Ingredients: Water, Chrysanthemum Sinense Flower Extract, Panthenol , Chamaecyparis Obtusa Leaf Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Rehmannia Chinensis Root Extract , Polygonum, Multiflorum Root Extract, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Extract, Paeonia Albiflora Root Extract , Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract , Lycium Chinense Root Extract, Dictamnus Desycarpus Root Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Angelica Gigas Root Extrac, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Kochia Scoparia Fruit Extract , Lithospermum Erythrorhizon Root Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extrac, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Poria Cocos Extract, Atractyloides Japonica Rhizome Extract, Forsythia Suspensa Fruit Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract , Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin, PEG-8, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Carbomer, Algin , Acrylates/C10-30, Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer , Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA , Triethanolamine

You can check the ingredients via COSDNA, too, and you will find that most of the ingredients are safe to use. The key ingredients is Chrysanthemum Sinsese Flower extract, which is rich in flavonoids and has skin soothing properties. Moreover you will find that Ginseng is also part of the ingredients lists. I love products containing ginseng, because it has so many versatile effects, reaching from anti-inflammatory to anti-aging properties! Also, panthenol and hyaluronic acid are mentioned which both have excellent moisturizing properties.

Atoclassic Real Tonic

Upon application the essence has a sticky touch, but it is not too strong. After a while the sticky feeling dissapears and it feels perfectly fine on the skin. The Atoclassic Real Tonic Soothing Essence contains 14 % active hanbang ingredients. The ingridients are listed above and you will see that the majority of the ingredients consists of the plant based extracts.

Atoclassic Real Tonic

Both products work perfectly well for my skintype (mostly dry skintype). Love how mild the cleaqnser is formulated and the essence works really nice also below makeup. Review: Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser

21. September 2016

Here is the confession of a dry skin type person: I love foam cleansers! I know, foam cleansers usually tend to be more drying than gel cleansers or cleansing waters and I – as someone with dry skin – should be aware of it! Yet, I love the luscious and soft embrace of a good old foamy cleanser. Here is a review of my latest tested cleanser, the Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser.

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser

Lafine is the first brand of Lamy Cosmetics, a Korean Cosmetics Company. Lamy Cosmetics is a Korean cosmetics company with 6 different brand. The brands are Renoma, Geo, Sortie, Mennen, Catalina Geo, and, the brand mentioned in this post, Lafine. I reviewed a couple of products from Lamy Cosmetics already, I even reviewed another cleanser by Lafine before, the Lafine Vegetable Deep Cleansing Cream. You can read my review >>here<< if you missed it.

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser is part of the Lafine Vegetable line, which uses 5 vegetable ingredients for nourishing the skin: tomato, carrot, parsley, cucumber and water parsley. This is also displayed by the design of the cardboard box and the tube containing the foam cleanser. On the cardboard box you will also find the Korean and the English description of the product. The ingredients are also listed on COSDNA if you want to look them up. Although the product is 5 free (no animal oil, triclosan, paraben, benzophenon and talc), there are quite a lot of potential irritants and acne triggers stated in the list.

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser

The vegetable ingredients are represented by tiny red and green granules in the product, which dissolve and release the nutrients (unfortunately, not visible in my swatch below). Tomato is known for its antioxidant effects. It contains vitamin C, B1, and B2 and have a high content in sugars (fructose/glucose). Cucumber is known for its detoxing properties because it contains mostly water. Apart from water cucumber also provides vitamin A and C. Carrots are also rich in anti-oxidants. Especially are they known for their vitamin A content and iron. Parsley is rich in fiber and brightens up the skin tone and water parsley contains vitamin C and minerals. Moreover the Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser contains Papaya Extract for a gentle exfoliation. The measured pH lies at 7 though, so it is not your ideal choice if you only use low pH cleansers. It builds a rich and soft foam though and cleans away nicely leftover makeup, resulting in a squeaky clean feeling of the skin. Here, I have to state, that it is quite drying on my skin after using it (as expected if you have squeaky clean skin).

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser does a good job in really cleansing your face from oils. I have to state though, that it is quite stripping and makes the skin feel squeaky clean. If you enjoy cleanser like this (and have oily type skin) you should have a look into it. It has a pH of 7, so if you are looking for a more acid cleanser for using actives this is not your best choice. The Lafine Deep Vegetable Cleaning Cream has a pH of 5 though. The Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleanser is available from KMall24 for 12.73 US$ (additional shipping costs) or from amazon.com for 23.99 US$ (includes shipping) (also by KMall24).

Review: Insobeau Perfect Deep Clean One-Step Cleansing Water

3. March 2016

When it comes to cleansing waters I’m a total newbie. Everybody was raving the Bioderma Cleansing Water, but I never tried it – even not today. I have so many cleansers I want to use up before buying new stuff. Then I received a MeMeBox which contained the Insobeau Perfect Deep Clean One-Step Cleansing Water. Finally a cleansing water I could try.

Insobeau Perfect Deep Clean One-Step Cleansing Water

Insobeau is a not widely known Korean brand, which was introduced to me by MeMeBox, as many of those brands you usually do not get to know outside of Korea. The name was derived from “In Natural Science Of Beauty”. They have a range of makeup and skincare products, but so far this is the first product I tried from this brand. The Insobeau Perfect Deep Clean One-Step Cleansing Water is a cleansing water which can be used to remove makeup, so it is suited for first step cleanser…but can also be used as second step cleanser. The cleanser comes in a cute pink plastic bottle containing 200 ml. The advantage of cleansing waters towards foam cleansers is that they are designed to be friendly to senstitive and dry skintypes, but also people whose skin cannot cope with oily residues on the skin can preferably use cleansing waters.

Insobeau Perfect Deep Clean One-Step Cleansing Water

The Insobeau Perfect Deep Clean One-Step Cleansing Water comes in a cardboard box of the same pink color as the bottle. The cardboard box comes with Korean descriptions only, and also the official webpage is in Korean. Although the packaging design is very simply it also looks pretty, and yet girly. The plastic bottle is slightly milky, which is really nice, too. The ingredients are mostly safe to use. I spotted one red labelled ingredient, which is the preservative Methylisothiazolinone. The other ingredients are safe to use and can be checked via COSDNA. The cleansing water contains also plant extracts like Aloe Leaf Juice and Fennel Leaf Extract for moisturizing, and Lemon Balm Extract, Orange Peel Extract, and Camomile Extract for anti-inflammatory effects.

Insobeau Perfect Deep Clean One-Step Cleansing Water

The bottle has a regular opening, so you can easily spread the water onto cotton pads. I personally would also like the option of a pump applicator, but I didn’t see any cleansing waters like this yet. The bottom of the bottle has the expiration date printed on. I applied the cleansing water using soft square cotton pads (e.g. from Muji) and wiped them all over my face and neck. I repeated the procedure on a second cotton pad until the makeup traces were all gone. Done! I finished rinsing with water and using pH adjusting toner afterwards. You can also use a foam cleanser after the cleansing water, but I discovered that the second wipe already was clean enough for my usually light makeup.

Insobeau Perfect Deep Clean One-Step Cleansing Water

The cleanser has a strong performance. Using one soaked cotton pad I’m able to remove all kinds of color makeup. The cleansing water is definitively a good makeup remover.

Insobeau Perfect Deep Clean One-Step Cleansing Water

I used this cleansing water up in a record time and really enjoyed using it for all kinds of makeup removing, be it on my face or for in-between brush cleansing. And I ordered my second cleansing water (this time I ordered one from ElishaCoy- and hopefully it will be similar effective to this one). I think that cleansing waters can be a great option for sensitive and dry skintypes, to avoid too much rinsing and cleansing and stripping off all the good fats on your skin. It can be a good first cleanser for people with oily skin, because it doesn’t leave an oily residue like some balm or oil cleansers. The volume of 200 ml is a good amount of cleansing water and with a retail price of 9000 Won it is affordable, too.The famous Bioderma Cleansing Water contains 250 ml  (there is also a larger size with 500 ml) and costs around 17 US$.

Review: Recipe Slowganic Cleanser Lemon

25. February 2016

I’m usually not picky about my cleansers and I love trying new ones…and to admit I have a bunch of unopened cleansers flying around, which are waiting to be tested. One of these cleansers I started using recently is the Recipe Slowganic Cleanser Lemon.

Recipe Slowganic Cleanser Lemon

Recipe by Nature is a Korean brand which was introduced to me for the first time by MeMeBox and I’ve tried a Recipe by Nature Spray Essence Water previously. I really love the packaging design of their products. It is not cute, but clean and still modern with a vintage-esque vibe to it. The Recipe Slowganic Cleanser is a pH balanced cleanser made from 98% natural ingredients and is available in three different types: lemon, green tea and adlay.

Recipe Slowganic Cleanser Lemon

Recipe Slowganic Cleanser Lemon comes in a pretty cardboard box with an illustration of the actual product jar. A lemon is displayed to show which of the three cleansers you have here. The description on the cardboard box is only  in Korean, and also the official product page only has Korean description. You will find some English description on MeMeBox though. The ingredients are also listed on COSDNA and you can check them >>here<<. Most ingredients are green labelled and you will find many plant extracts in the ingredients list, but also discover that there are quite some potential irritants and three red-labelled ingredients. The red-labelled ingredients are Triethanol Amine, Methylisothiazolinone, and Benzyl Alcohol. The irritants are mostly the oils used for cleansing. If you have oily skin I can recommend you to use a second cleanser afterwards.

Recipe Slowganic Cleanser Lemon

The product contains these plant derived oils: olive oil, jojoba seed oil, camellia oil, macadamia oil, marjoram oil, evening primrose oil, lime oil, lemon peel oil, basil oil, borage seed oil, brazil nut oil, sweet almond oil, argan nut oil, ylang ylang flower oil, sunflower oil, and wild geranium oil…quite a list!

Recipe Slowganic Cleanser Lemon

When you open up the cardboard box you will see a large plastic spatula on top of the cleanser, which comes in a jar. I love the preserving jar style of the cleanser. It makes me feel like the product is hand-made. You can open the jar by removing one of the metal clips. Between the lid and the product you will find a plastic sheet.
Recipe Slowganic Cleanser Lemon

Removing the sheet reveals a fluffy, white colored cream. It has a mousse-y and bouncy texture and has a fresh citrus scent. Using the included spatula you can take out an appropriate amount from the cleanser and apply it on the dry skin. By massaging the spongy cleanser it will take off the makeup and can be washed off with water. The cleanser has a pH between 4-5. I made a test using different makeup product on my arm and using the cleanser. I think it cleanses off nicely the BB cream and makes the skin feel very fresh and clean. It is not as effective with color makeup. Maybe I have to massage it for a longer time.

Recipe Slowganic Cleanser Lemon

Despite the lack of power for color makeup I still think that the Recipe Slowganic Cleanser Lemon is a good cleanser and especially, it does not feel drying on the skin. It has a good pH between 4-5 and leaves the skin clean and refreshed. I really like to use it as first-step cleanser using a second foam cleanser afterwards. It doesn’t leave any oily residue, and sometimes I only use it on its own as well. I’d like to try the other two types of this cleanser, especially the green tea version. The Recipe Slowganic Cleanser retails for 18000 Won on the official site and contains 100g. You will find it for 20 US$ on MeMeBox, on testerkorea for ~18 US$, and for around 19 US$ on ebay. What is your favorite cleanser? Did you try any products from Recipe by Nature?

Review: SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon Set Part 1

21. December 2015

There is something about oriental ornaments that makes one think about something super luxurious and high quality directly…Please, let’s just appreciate this packaging design of SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon Set for a moment! This skin care set contains all the products you need for an elaborate skin care routine from cleanser to essence. I divided this post into two parts. The first part is about the cleanser, skin and emulsion, whereas the second part will be about the eye cream, cream and essence.

SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon

SNP is a Korean brand developed by dermatologists and focusing on the creation of functional cosmetics combined with the knowledge of scientific cosmetic research. You may have heard from this brand before, mainly because of their sheet masks. I’m also a big fan of their hydrogel eye patches! But I never tried a full skin care set of this brand which makes it even more exciting to try out this beautiful set!

SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon

The products come in a ornamented gift box and if you open the box the inside looks even more breathtaking! All the products are embedded in a red fabric. This looks like a perfect present for any cosmetics lover! The set consists of the SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon Skin, SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon Emulsion, the SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon Essence, SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon Cream, and SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon Eye Cream. The skin and emulsion also come in an additional travel size. Also, there is a plastic spatula for the cream.

SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon

All the products contain 7 different herbal ingredients such as wild ginseng, a kind of figwort, a kind of sage plant, sophora root, codonopsis, pilose bellflower and leguminosae. All these plant extracts are put through a 2-step fermentation process to gain the so-called extract “seonsu”, which is also known as “miraculous water”. Seonsu is a patented herbal fermented solution which supplies nourishment  to the skin and maintains health. The skin care line is designed to have anti-aging benefits. The order of use for the products is like this:

Cleansing Foam -> Toner -> Essence -> Lotion -> Cream -> Eye Cream

SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon

SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon Cleansing Foam

The cleansing foam is a hypoallergenic foam that effectively eliminates wastes and excessive sebum. It creates a rich, soft foam with more than enough bubbles. The cleansing foam comes in a regular tube. The product has a creamy, shiny consistency. Mixed with water the pH is around 8, which is slightly alkaline, so if you have problems with cleansers with high pH this one is not the right cleanser for you. For me it doesn’t really change anything, whether the pH is high or low because usually I use an pH adjusting toner afterwards. But, I must say that the more alkaline the cleanser is the more drying it can leave the skin, so it would not be my first choice to be honest. The cleansing performance is okay, but it is not an ideal makeup remover. As you can see below it does get rid of powders, bb cream and mascara, but it has problems with lip products. The ingredients of the SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon Cleansing Foam are:

Glycerin, Water, Potassium Hydroxide, Myristic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Peg-8, Lauric Acid, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Polyquaternium-7, Fragnance, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, Butylene Glycol, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Fruit extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, C14-C22Alcohol, Squalane, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Triethylhexanoin, Soy Isoflavones, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Butylospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Arachidyl Glucoside, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Pueraria Mirifica Root Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Cimicfuga Dahurica Root Extract, Trifolium Pratense (Clover) Flower Extract, Punica Granatum Extract, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, Dimethicone, Ceramide 3, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Carbomer, Cholesterol, Tromethamine, Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Aspergillus Ferment, Scrophularia Buergeriana Extract, Salvia Miltiorrhiza Root Extract, Codonopsis Lanceolata Root Extract, Hydrolyzed Codonopsis

The ingredients are marked mostly green on COSDNA, but there are some potential acne triggers, too. Please check out >>here<<.

SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon

SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon Skin and SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon Emulsion

The emulsion and the skin (or toner) are also based on herbal ingredients, like the whole line. The two products come in beautiful bottles of hard plastic. They are quite large, but not too heavy in the hand.  It is really nice that the set comes with two smaller travel-sized bottles for the emulsion and the skin, since it would be really inconvenient to take along the larger bottles with you. The bottles have both regular openings. For the toner it is no problem to pour it out like that, but I can imagine that it will be difficult for the emulsion when it gets more empty over the time. A pump or a bottle which can be squeezed would be better suited for emulsions.

SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon

The skin/ toner has a liquid, watery consistency and an herbal scent. It absorbs fast and feels refreshing. The ingredients are:

Water, Glycerin, Methyl Gluceth-20, Alcohol, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Bis-Peg-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl silane, Pentylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Trehalose, Panthenol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crossploymer, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, Fragnance, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Aspergillus Ferment, Scrophularia Buergeriana Extract, Salvia Miltorrhiza Root Extract, Codonopsis Lanceolata Root Extract, Hydrolyzed Codonopsis Pilosula Root Extract, Cucurbita Pepo Fruit Extract, C14-C22Alcohol, Squalane, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Triethylhexanoin, Soy Isoflavones, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii, Arachidyl Glucoside, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Pueraria Mirifica Root Extract, Angelica Polymorpha Sinensis Root Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearic Acid, Cimicifuga Dahurica Root Extract, Angelica Polymorpha Sinensis Root Extract, Trifolium Pratense Flower Extract, Punica Granatum Extract, Dimethicone, Ceramide 3, Carbomer, Peg-100 Stearate

According to COSDNA there are two red flagged ingredients, which are Alcohol and Triethanolamine. The other ingredients are mostly green flagged. Again, there are some potential acne triggers and irritants, so be sure to patch-test in advance. Other than that the toner does quite a good job as first step of the skin care routine. It refreshes the skin, which may be a bit dry because of the cleansers used. The damp skin makes it easier for the following steps to penetrate the skin.

The emulsion has a lotion like texture. A light cream which is not too heavy or rich and suited perfectly for oily skintypes, or for wearing it at daytime, if the emulsion plus the cream is too much for the skin. It has the same herbal scent as the toner. The ingredients are:

Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Triethylhexanoin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylic/Capric Trigylceride, Hydrogenated C6-14 Olefin Polymers, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Glyceryl Stearate, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Peg-100 Stearate, Trehalose, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Butyrospermum Parkii,  Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Palmitic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Carbomer, C14-C22Alcohol, Squalane, Xanthan Gum, Triethanolamine, Panthenol, Fragnance, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Adenisine, Arachidyl Glucoside, Theobroma Cacao Extract,  Hydrogenated Lecithin, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Aspergillus Ferment, Scrophularia Buergeriana Extract, Salvia Miltorrhiza Root Extract, Codonopsis Lanceolata Root Extract, Hydrolyzed Codonopsis Pilosula Root Extract, Beta-Glucan, Ceramide 3, Cholesterol, Tromethamine, Cucurbita Pepo Fruit Extract, Soy Isoflavones, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Pueraria Mirifica Root Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Cimicifuga Dahurica Root Extract, Angelica Polymorpha Sinensis Root Extract, Trifolium Pratense Flower Extract, Punica Granatum Extract

According to COSDNA Triethanolamine is the only red labelled ingredient. As before the others are mainly green labelled with some potential acne triggers and irritants. The emulsion absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave any greasyness or heavy feeling. It makes the skin soft on the same time and gives it some moisture.

SNP Za Aryeon Eun Yoon

From these three products the emulsion is my favourite so far. Of course the design of the whole box is awesome and it will make the most beautiful gift for someone. If we look closer at the ingredients we mainly spot a whole bunch of different plant extracts. The products all contain fragrance, but the scent is a herbal one. I had to get used to it at first, but that is typical for most products with oriental medicine inspired ingredients. In the next part I will take a closer look at the cream, eye cream and the essence. So far, I hope this review was helpful! By the way, the whole set retails for a proud 160000 Won (around 160 US$)!
