Review: iUnik Rose Galactomyces Essential Toner & Synergy Serum

25. January 2018

// PR SAMPLE / KBEAUTY / SKINCARE //

A while ago I was contacted by the Korean brand iUnik whether I would like to try and test their products. While browsing through their website I discovered the iUnik Rose Galactomyces Essential Toner and Synergy Serum and I knew that these would be the products that I would love to test. After all, I love roses and I love fermented ingredients.

iUnik Rose Galactomyces

IUnik is a newer Korean brand that has launched a couple of interesting skincare products. Their packaging design is simple but neat, and the products sound promising. you can check out the products >>here<< on the official webpage.

iUnik Rose Galactomyces

I selected the iUnik Rose Galactomyces Essential Toner and Synergy Serum because I love it when I have a serum and toner from the same line. Next to each other, they look very pretty and perfect. But not only from the outside, but the inside also contains some notable ingredients, too.

iUnik Rose Galactomyces

iUnik Rose Galactomyces Essential Toner

Let’s start of with the iUnik Rose Galactomyces Essential Toner. The toner has acne-fighting, brightening, and anti-aging properties. This toner helps to moisturize, re-balance and soften even sensitive skin types with rosa damascena flower water (70%) and galactomyces ferment filtrate (10%). Moreover, it is paraben-free, sulfate-free, and free from alcohol. The ingredients of the products can be checked via SkinCarisma. Rose Damascena flower water has anti-oxidative properties and acts skin conditioning. Fermentation extract is nutrient-rich. It contains many vitamins, amino acids, and proteins and helps to improve the moisture level of the skin. Adenosine has anti-aging benefits. Moreover, it contains Licorice extract, which has anti-inflammatory properties and acts brightening. The toner comes in a large bottle containing 200ml. the bottle is made from plastic and lightweight. The formulation is a clear and water-like one (I haven’t shown any pictures this time, because both look similar on them). It has a pleasant rose scent and absorbs quickly, leaving a tiny bit of tackiness behind. The skin feels very moist and nice after application and I feel it makes the skin feel more bouncy, too.

iUnik Rose Galactomyces

iUnik Rose Galactomyces Synergy Serum

The iUnik Rose Galactomyces Synergy Serum is dedicated to nourishing and pore control, as well as whitening and anti-aging properties. According to the description, it is especially great if you want to tackle your T-zone and even out the oil/moisture balance of the skin. You can check out the ingredients on SkinCarisma again. Here we have 50% Galactomyces ferment and 10% rose water. Other notable ingredients are niacinamide for brightening, allantoin for soothing, sodium hyaluronate for moisturizing and aloe extract for soothing. The serum comes in a glass bottle with a dropper attached. The consistency of the serum is not as watery as for the toner, but it is not very gel-like either. I feel that the rose scent is less noticeable than for the toner. The serum feels very moist and refreshing upon application and absorbs quickly, too. The skin feels more nourished than with the toner and kind of smooth, too. I’m at the last third of the bottle, but in terms of pore effects, I haven’t noticed any difference. I love the moisturizing and nourishing part though. Also, the serum works great with other products.

iUnik Rose Galactomyces

All in all, both products are really nice, and especially for the price and the moisturizing effects, I can only give it thumbs up. A pity, the serum didn’t show more effects on reducing the appearance of the pores, but then again, it does what I want from a rose and galactomyces product. Both products are moisturizing and softening the skin and they apply nicely with other products. You can buy iUnik products from unique4u.net.

iUnik Rose Galactomyces Essential Toner retails for 16.49 US$

iUnik Rose Galactomyces Synergy Serum retails for 14.99 US$

Review: Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care Skintoner and Emulsion

7. December 2017

// PR SAMPLE / AFFILIATE LINKS / KBEAUTY //

Two things that always get my attention in skin care products are fermented ingredients and snail secretion filtrate. I love both of these in my skin care products and I feel that they do the trick on my skin to make it happy all over. A while ago I was selected for the second round of the Swanicoco Swan Program, and they send me a huge package containing a ton of skin care products, including the Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care Skintoner and Emulsion.

Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care

Swanicoco is a Korean brand that stared off its business by creating naturally fermented soaps. Now, they have a huge range of products including skin care and make up products, but still all the products share the same believe in natural ingredients excluding artificial and chemical components. Swanicoco uses grains, fruits, herbs and oriental medicine materials as raw materials for their fermentation. By fermenting the products they can be much more easily absorbed into the skin, help retaining moisture and improve damaged skin. They state that instead of using purified water like in most existing cosmetics, Swanicoco has replaced the water with ferment filtrate. Additionally, pigments, synthetic perfumes, chemical preservatives, alcohol, mineral oil, paraben and benzophenones have been excluded from their products. Oh, and they are also free from animal testing!

Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care

The brand name Swanicoco is derived from the word “swan” and the term “coco”. “Swan” referrs to the elegance and feminine aspects of the bird we probably all know. “Coco” refers to the coconut, representing the natural ingredients. In the logo of the brand you will find the word “natural”, which refers to the brand as being a natural cosmetics brand. There is also a peony blossom in the middle of the logo  that stands for richness and splendor.

Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care

The Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care Skintoner and Emulsion is a perfect basic skin care combination. It is hypo-allergenic, has soothing and calming properties. The combination of fermented ingredients and snail secretion filtrate helps to recover the skin and transit to a new skin care routine. It recovers and provides sufficient moisture to the skin. Snail Secretion filtrate claims to be rich in hyaluronic acid and antioxidants and thus help our skin to regenerate stimulating the formation of collagen, elastin and dermal components that repair the signs of photoaging. Also, it claims to minimize the damage generated by free radicals that are responsible for premature skin aging (there is a wikipedia entry for snail mucus, too). The snail mucus is not obtained by harming the snails, but it is collected is so-called snail farms. Ferment filtrate is nutrients-rich. It contains many vitamins, amino acids and proteins and helps to improve the moisture level of the skin.

Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care

Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care Skintoner

The Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care Skintoner is a hydrating and soothing gel-type toner. It comes in a large bottle containing 120 ml and will last you for quite some time. The hard plastic packaging has the typicxal packaging we are used to from Swanicoco: simple with many information and a kind of medical/science-y design. The toner has a milky color and a floral scent. It absorbs fast though and fells refreshing on the skin. After application the skin feels hydrated and plumped and feels nice upon touch.

Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care

The ingredients of the toner are listed below and you can also check the ingredients via Skincarisma.

ingredients: Water, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Water, Aspergillus/Rice Ferment Filtrate, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Butylene Glycol, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Panax Ginseng Callus Culture Extract, rh-Oligopeptide-1, Saccharomyces/Asparagus Cochinchinensis Root/Lycium Chinense Root/Ophiopogon Japonicus Root/Panax Ginseng Root/Poria Cocos/Rehmannia Glutinosa Root Ferment Filtrate, Bacillus/Cordyceps Sinensis/Ganoderma Lucidum/Inonotus Obliquus/Lentinus Edodes/Phellinus Linteus/Schizophyllum Commune/Tricholoma Matsutake Extract Ferment Filtrate, Saussurea Involucrata Extract, Saccharomyces/Viscum Album (Mistletoe) Ferment Extract, Lactobacillus/Soybean Ferment Extract, Saccharomyces/Imperata Cylindrica Root Ferment Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Polysorbate 60, Tocopheryl Acetate, Allantoin, Ceramide 1, Carbomer, Arginine, Rosa Centifolia Flower Oil, Magnolia Kobus Bark Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Thujopsis Dolabrata BRANCH Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Leaf Extract

Apart from snail secretion filtrate and fermented ingredients the toner also contains licorice extract, collagen, hyaluronic acid, ginseng extract, and so many more ingredients worth mentioning!

Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care

Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care Emulsion

The Swanicoco Bio Fement F Fermentation Snail Care Emulsion has similar properties as the toner and many of the same ingredients. The two products work perfectly together, and also the emulsion comes in an identical bottle packaging containing 120 ml. You have to look and read what’s on the bottle if you have both. I sometimes grabbed blindly and reached out for the emulsion first, before having used the toner. The emulsion is a light textured cream, which is perfect as daily moisturizer, leaving no greasiness or traces after application. It has the same scent as the toner.

Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care

You can find the ingredients listed below and they are also included in Skincarisma:

Water, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Water, Aspergillus/Rice Ferment Filtrate, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Butylene Glycol, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Stearic Acid, Lactobacillus/Bambusa Vulgaris Shoot Extract/Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract/Luffa Cylindrica Fruit Extract/Morus Alba Root Extract/Pueraria Lobata Root Extract Ferment Filtrate, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Panax Ginseng Callus Culture Extract, Human Oligopeptide-1, Saccharomyces/Viscum Album (Mistletoe) Ferment Extract, Lactobacillus/Soybean Ferment Extract, Saccharomyces/Imperata Cylindrica Root Ferment Extract, Saussurea Involucrata Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Polysorbate 60, Tocopheryl Acetate, Allantoin, Ceramide 1, Carbomer, Arginine, Saccharomyces/Lycium Chinense Fruit/Rehmannia Glutinosa Root/Cuscuta Chinensis Fruit/Cistanche Deserticola/Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit/Chrysanthemum Morifolium Fruit/Poria Cocos/ Cinnamomum Cassia Ferment, Rosa Centifolia Flower Oil, Magnolia Kobus Bark Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Thujopsis Dolabrata BRANCH Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract

Also here the ingredients are mainly targeting moisturizing and soothing the skin. The main difference between the toner and the emulsion in my opinion lies in the fermented extracts which are either from Saccharomyces, Lactobacillus, Aspergillus, or Bacillus.

Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care

I love how great the Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care Emuslion and Skintoner work together! They both provide moisture and are soothing and therefore perfect for stressed skin. Nevertheless, both products contain so many great ingredients, that they also have properties that support the elasticity and nutrition of the skin. I can imagine that this is perfect for recovering stressed skin and for a transition into a new skin care routine. I also really like the huge packaging contains 120 ml each. This will make sure to last for a while. Unfortunately, both look very similar in their design, so you have to look properly what you are grabbing. My skin worked well with these two products and I didn’t experience any negative reactions. Still, everyone’s skin might react differently, so in case you will be trying out these products, please do a patch test before starting to use it, just to be sure. You can also find Swanicoco products at Beautytap (formerly W2Beauty). The toner and the emulsion retail for 15 US$ right now each.

Review: Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

9. December 2016

Good news for my fellow German kbeauty lovers: Whamisa skincare is now also available in Germany through the online store for natural cosmetics Najoba. Apart from the Whamisa Organic Flowers Facial Oil I also had the chance to test the Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner:

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

The Korean brand Whamisa is relatively young and was founded in 2010 as certified natural cosmetics brand. Their key ingredients focus on plant based fermentation extracts. The brand name is written in Chinese characters which have the meaning of flowers and beauty and the use of four key components of natural materials in their products. The attractive ingredients are combined with a beautiful packaging design in light colors. Some of the products are decorated with flower illustrations, as you can see here, too.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

The Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner has been on my wishlist for a long time! Instead of water, you will find here a lot of plant derived extracts and liquids. Similar to the Oolu Moisture Liquids I reviewed previously (Oolu is a sister brand of Whamisa) this toner contains oil to give a special care and moisture to your skin.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner contains 97,4 % of pure ingredients derived from nature. It also contains Fermented plant extracts. These ingredients help the skin to protect itself from harmful environment and dryness by nourishing and creating a skin protective film.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

By the way, Whamisa products are formulated without Parabens/Synthetic/Chemical Preservatives, Artificial Dyes and fragrances, Petrochemicals, Silicon/Mineral Oils, EDTA, Animal Origin ingredients. Their products are environmental friendly and free from animal testing. The ingredients of the Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner are listed below:

Ingredients: *Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract , *Chrysanthemum Morifolium Flower Extract, *Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, *Lactobacillus/Chrysanthemum Sinense Flower Ferment Filtrate, *Lactobacillus/Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Ferment Filtrate, *Lactobacillus/Teraxacum Officinale (Dandelion) Rhizome/Root Ferment Filtrate, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, *Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, *Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, *Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, *Helichrysum Arenarium Flower Extract, *Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, *Glycerin, Propanediol, **Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, **Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, **Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Lithospermum Erythrorhizon Root Extract, Xanthan Gum, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, *Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Oil, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil, ***Fragrance

*Certified Organically Grown **Natural Preservative ***Natural Origin

You can also check the ingredients via COSDNA. Almost every ingredient is green labelled, and it is so pull of natural ingredients, too! The Lactobaccilus ferment filtrate of the plants is nutrients-rich. It contains many vitamins, amino acids and proteins and helps to improve the moisture level of the skin. Aloe extracts and plant-based oils boost the moisture the toner gives to your skin.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

The Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner comes in a milky glass bottle. The bottle looks really high-end and pretty, especially with the flower illustrations on it. In order to use the toner, you pour the liquid gel-like product into your palms or on a cotton pad and pat it on to your face. You use the toner after cleansing your face, and in contrast to western toners asian toners are designed to moisturize your skin after cleansing and not to remove left-over makeup. The formula locks in te moisture into your skin and leaves a slightly tacky feeling, making the skin feel moisturized. I love the smooth feeling of the toner, that is provided by the oils in the ingredients. Usually, I do not like tacky or sticky products, but I usually continue to use other products on top and then the stickiness is not noticeable any longer. If you only use toner after cleansing and no other serums and creams you might not like the stickiness. Anyways, apart from that this toner really does a good job in moisturizing the skin.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner

Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Toner is my most used toner at the moment. Due to the cold weather I love the extra moisture this toner gives to my skin. There is also an original version and a fresh version of this toner available, depending on your skintype these might be worth a closer look, too! My only downside for Whamisa products in generall is the price, especially if offered by shops outside of Korea. Of course a high price is justified by the origin of the ingredients, since it is natural and organic cosmetics, and for non-Korean sellers they also have to add the costs for export. Still 39 € for 120 ml bottle of toner can be considered quite expensive. You have to see it as a light essence or serum. With this in mind, the price can be considered good actually, since it is really providing enough moisture to skip additional moisturizing essences, and just use a cream on top.

What is your favorite moisturizing toner? Did you try Whamisa products already? What was your impression?

Review: BRTC The First Ampoule Essence

23. November 2015

Apart from the Black Friday Deals I shared today I still have a regular beauty product review for you! Here is the other product from BRTC I was able to try, the BRTC The First Ampoule Essence. Actually, I think the full name is 1st Essence Treatment The First Ampoule Essence, but anyways… Here we have a so called first essence, similar to the Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence. I received this essence together with the BRTC Aqua Rush Cream from BNTnews, so I also used them in combination. Similar to the Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence the key ingredient is ferment filtrate to moisturize, soften and brighten up your skin.

BRTC The First Ampoule Essence

BRTC is a ‘derma-technology cosmetics brand’ from Korea. It stands for ‘Bio Remedies Therapeutic Cosmetics’. They have products which are dermatological tested and safe for a variety of skintypes. They have different product lines each targeting another skin concern. The BRTC The First Ampoule Essence is a skin booster containing 95.3% of fermented patented ingredients and is supposed to sooth irritated skin and make it healthy. Like most of these kind of essences this product comes in a frosted glass bottle. The design is simple, too. Actually, I have the feeling that all first essences I’ve seen so far look like that :D

BRTC The First Ampoule Essence

The cardboard box containing the bottle has descriptions in English and Korean and in contrast to the BRTC Aqua Rush Cream they even listed the English ingredients. We have here a two different ferment extracts, one from galactomyces and the other from lactobacillus. apart from the fermented extracts we have a bunch of plant/flower extracts like chamomille, hyacinth, green tea and lavender. Allantoin (soothing properties) and niacinamide (brightening properties) are also included. Generally, the ingredients lists is pretty short as you can check on >>COSDNA<<.

BRTC The First Ampoule Essence

The claims of the product are brightening, improving skin texture, nourishing, creating a protective film, improving skin elasticity and moisturizing. I did not use this product long enough to see if it improves my skin in terms of skin texture or elasticity, but it is definitively moisturizing. Also, similar to the Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence you will feel a kind of nourishing film on the skin after applying it. I used this in the same way like I did with the Missha First Essence: in the mornings and evening after cleansing, toning and using actives I pour a bit of the essence on my hands and pat it into my skin. It has a watery, scentless texture and also absorbs very fast. What I like about the bottle is, that it has a scale on the side where you can see how much you are using.
BRTC The First Ampoule Essence

Since I didn’t use this long enough I cannot say anything about the long term effects of the BRTC The First Ampoule Essence. Compared to the Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence I think that this one shows less immediate results. After using the Essence from Missha I have the feeling my skin brightened up directly. Also it contains many smoothing and conditioning ingredients which make the skin super soft. The BRTC The First Ampoule Essence also makes the skin feel softer, but the effect is less drastic. I do like the frosted glass bottle though and I like the scaling on the side of the bottle. Since I do not have any negative remarks on the product itself, this essence is a good essence all in all, but I still have a bottle of COSRX Galactomyces Essence to review and I would like to compare all three essences (COSRX, Missha and BRTC) together. Until then, I hope this review is still helpful! The bottle contains 150 ml and is a bit pricey with 38000 Won retail price.

Review: Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence Intensive

3. September 2015

// PR SAMPLE / SKINCARE / AFFILIATE LINKS //

In the last years many brands have started to release essences containing fermented yeast filtrate, similar to the famous  SKII Facial Treatment Essence. One of these many products has been claimed a good dupe, or even an improved version of the SKII essence: the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence. I tried some samples from this essence in the past and I really did like it back then, but never purchased a full size version. Then, earlier this year Missha announced to reformulate the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence (short: Missha FTE), which was called the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence Intensive. Many people were not happy about the reformulation. Nevertheless, I wanted to give this version a chance and started to in-cooperate it into my daily skincare routine after I kindly received this from Missha Germany for reviewing purpose. I do not have any direct comparison between the two versions (apart from my weak memory using the samples), but I will do a short breakdown on the new and removed ingredients. As far as I can tell I do like the new Missha FTE intense nonetheless!

Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence

Missha is one of the worldwide famous Korean brands, especially their Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream is one of the most famous BB creams. They have a lot of online stores all over the world and are available in US/Canada, Australia and since some time they even opened up an online store for Germany, and a physical store in Ingolstadt in Germany! The products always come in a very luxurious looking packaging and the design is usually very mature and elegant and I think that it can be liked by almost everyone. The Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence is no exception here: it comes in a hard plastic bottle (I think it was a glass bottle previously) with a silver cap, and the cardboard box is made of silver reflecting paper. You can see the lightly yellowish solution through the bottle, too.

Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence

The Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence is a highly concentrated essential essence, which is used as first step after cleansing your face. It rises the skin moisture and radiance level and has soothing and smoothing properties. It claims to have wrinkle repairing and whitening properties. The Korean and English description is included on the cardboard box (you can click to enlarge the image below). A label with the German description is added on the packaging, since I received the product from Missha Germany. The bottle of essence comes with 130 ml of product and has a shelf-life of 9 months after opening.

Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence

Ingredients: old vs. new

The ingredients are listed on the cardboard packaging, but also on the official Missha web pages. The list is also included in the COSDNA databank, and you can check whether the single ingredients are rated positively or negatively. Luckily, the Missha ingredients are safe to use, as you can check here. Since I mentioned the reformulation of the Missha FTE earlier here is a quick info about it. Below, the ingredients of the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence are listed:

SACCHAROMYCES FERMENT FILTRATE, BIFIDA FERMENT LYSATE, PROPANEDIOL, NIACINAMIDE, POLYQUATERNIUM-51, AMARANTHUS CAUDATUS SEED EXTRACT, BETAINE, ULMUS DAVIDIANA ROOT EXTRACT, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, PIPER METHYSTICUM LEAF/ROOT/STEM EXTRACT, WATER, TREHALOSE, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, HYDROLYZED CORN STARCH, PHENOXYETHANOL, BETA VULGARIS (BEET) ROOT EXTRACT, PHELLODENDRON AMURENSE BARK EXTRACT, CASSIA ALATA LEAF EXTRACT, DISODIUM EDTA, ADENOSINE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, RAFFINOSE, TROMETHAMINE, ACETIC ACID, LACTIC ACID, DISODIUM EDTA1,2-HEXANEDIOLCAPRYLYL GLYCOL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, POTASSIUM SORBATEHEXAPEPTIDE-9

The newly added ingredients are marked green. These ingredients are not included in the old version of the Missha FTE. I will go through the properties of these 8 new ingredients in the following:

Betaine: a anti-inflammatory stabilizator, which has calming/soothing properties for the skin

Trehalose: moisturizing properties

Butylene Glycol: has similar properties as propylene glycol, but with a lighter texture; skin conditioning properties and acts as solvent

Disodium EDTA: stabilisator, chelator, and preservative

1,2-Hexanediol: humectant, emolient

Caprylyl Glycol: skin conditioning and moisturizing properties, also a preservative

Potassium Sorbate: preservative

Hexapeptide-9: a synthetic peptide containing Glutamine, Glycine and Proline residues (different amino acids), it acts as skin conditioner/ smoothening

The ingredients which have been removed from the formulation are: Licorice Root Extract (Glycyrrhiza Glabra), Polyquaternium-51, Centella Asiatica Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract, and Pentylene Glycol.

Licorice Root Extract: an antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory and skin-conditioning properties, also used for fragrance

Centella Asiatica: skin conditioning and calming/soothing properties

Portulaca Oleraca: anti-inflammatory and skin conditioning properties

Rosmarinus Officinalis: anti-inflammatory, used for fragrance

Chamomilla Recutita: skin conditioning/ smoothening

Pentylene Glycol: anti-inflammatory, emollient

Polyquaternium-51: humectant

When I’m comparing the two lists of the new and removed ingredients I see that mainly ingredients have been changed into ingredients with similar and same properties. So why did they change it at all? My first idea was, that they wanted to get rid of the fragrance ingredients the product had. The new formula doesn’t have a specific scent, or rather smells like many essences with fermented ingredients smell of. The old formulation didn’t have any specific scent to me either. The second idea is, that many people react to specific plant extracts. By removing some of the plant extracts and changing them to synthetic ingredients the risk for allergies is reduced. The third point might be that the cost for the new ingredients is cheaper than the old ones. The last idea seems to be the most likely one :D The only ingredient which is not really replaced properly is the Licorice Root extract. This is such a powerful ingredient considering brightening and anti-aging that it is really sad they removed it. Yet, we do not know the concentration of the Licorice Root extract in first place, so it is not really sure how much this effects the properties of the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence as a whole.

Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence

Apart from the newly added and the removed ingredients the key ingredients of both formulations are the same: yeast ferment filtrate, also known as “Pitera”. The Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence contains two types of yeast ferment filtrate: Saccharomyces and Bifida in a concentration of 80%. Yeast ferment filtrate is nutrients-rich. It contains many vitamins, amino acids and proteins and helps to improve the moisture level of the skin. Other great ingredients of the Missha FTE are sugars, like Raffinose and Trehalose, which have moisturizing properties and ingredients like Niacinamide and Lactid Acid, which have brightening properties.

Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence
I’ve been using the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence Intensive since I received it 8 weeks ago almost every day twice (morning and evening routine). From time to time I switched to the May Coop Raw Sauce alone, mostly I used both together. There is no scent / light fermented scent.  The consistency of the Missha FTE is water-y. It is clear and runny, but absorbs into the skin quickly. It feels the skin hydrated and smoothed instantly, like a thin film on the skin. I really like this feeling and it makes you want to touch your face constantly. The overall face looks brightened and less dull. Adding other products on top works nicely and doesn’t cause any flaking at all.

Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence

Unfortunately, I cannot compare the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence Intensive to the old version directly, but I really love how this product works in my skincare routine. It leaves the skin with a nice feeling and -having tried the Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence before- I can say that I prefer the Missha FTE. The Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence has a much more intense yeast ferment scent (contains 90% of yeast ferment filtrate) and yet doesn’t leave the skin as smooth as the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence Intense does. I’ve bought the COSRX Galactomyces 95 White Power Essence recently, but have not tried it yet (this one has even 95% of yeast ferment). I will be comparing it to the Missha FTE Intensive for sure. In terms of wrinkle-care I do not know how much the Missha FTE impacts on this, since every change will be also an effect of my whole skincare routine. Adding products with moisturizing properties is never wrong if you want to prefer skin-aging though. And the Missha FTE does definitively moisturize and brighten up my skin instantly and makes it feel super smooth. There are so many brands these days, each with their own yeast ferment filtrate essence that it can be difficult to decide for a specific one, but considering the price the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence is definitively preferable to the SKII Essence. The Missha Time Revoltion The First Treatment Essence Intensive retails for 38.90 € from the German Missha store (49.00 US$ from Missha US!).

Btw.: Missha Germany also deliveres outside Germany. So if you are somewhere in Europe it might be faster to consider ordering from them instead of Korea. My package arrived after 2 days, which is awesome when thinking about the 2-4 weeks of waiting when ordering from Korea :D Take a glance at their webpage, instagram, and facebook and support the spreading of Korean cosmetics within Europe! Also, Missha is one of the Korean bands which are against animal testing!

Review: From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack

31. August 2015

I’m really happy about writing this review, because I really like the From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack. This product was kindly sponsored by Beauteque, online retailer of Asian cosmetics. Some of you might have seen the bunch of products I selected from them for reviewing on my Instagram account :) I really like using sleeping mask, since I love the feeling of my skin on the next day after using these kind of masks. Usually sleeping masks or packs boost your skin over night with extra moisture or nutrition. Since the skin absorbs and works more efficiently during night such products are always a great idea.

From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack

From Nature‘s motto is “messanger from nature’s power”, and therefore this Korean brand uses natural ingredients in their cosmetic products. eChoice is a line by From Nature, and the From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack is what I’m reviewing here today. According to the description, this sleeping mask “infused with jasmine, rose, chamomile, green tea, and white tea extracts, boosts its oriental tea complex that works to deliver deep nutrition, moisture, and soothing effect overnight.” The From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack “creates moisturizing, transparent, illuminating, and water-based  bright, resilient, luminous skin.” This sounds really promising for a sleeping pack.

The sleeping pack line from From Nature eChoice comes in two choices: the From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack and the From Nature eChoice Fermented Beans Sleeping Pack. Beauteque is currently only offering the From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack. The packaging of the plastic tube containing 70 g is simple, but it shows the image of herbs and a bowl of tea (probably). The description on the tube of the From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack is in Korean only, but you find the instructions and the short description on Beautque, too. The ingredients of this sleeping mask are listed on COSDNA, and the list is neither long, nor harmful. Most of the ingredients are plant extracts from jasmine, rose, green tea, white tea, and chamomile. If you know about reacting to any of these ingredients you should be careful when using this sleeping mask though. apart from these the key ingredient here is the Lactobacillus Ferment, which was the main reason for me to try this sleeping msk. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial activity when applied in concentrations of 5% or more. It has skin coditioning properties, too. So this fermented oriental tea complex from the plant extracts mentioned above has a concetration of 100ppm, as stated on the packaging.

The From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack has a light and almost transparent gel texture. The scent is very pleasant and lingers on the skin. It reminds me of the Laneige Water Sleeping Pack in its structure and scent and feel on the skin. It is very waterful/moisturizing when blended on the skin, too. In order to use it you apply a proper amount to your face as last step of your skincare before you go to sleep. Next morning, you wash it off with lukewarm water. After using this the skin feels very soft and nice.

From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack

In my opinion, the From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack is a great option for those who find the Laneige Water Sleeping Pack too expensive. The From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Mask does a good job in moisturizing and smoothening the skin over night and costs only 12.00 US$ at Beauteque. It has a very relaxing scent, too! Also, if you like fermented ingredients the From Nature eChoice Fermented Tea Sleeping Pack is a really recommendable product to try.
