Review: Leaders 7 Wonders Biocellulose Masks

26. June 2017

Those who follow me on Instagram know that I love masks, especially sheet masks. I have a huge stash of sheet masks that seems to be never-ending :D Lately, I discovered my love for biocellulose sheet masks. and I’ve become obsessed especially to the Leaders 7 Wonders Biocellulose Masks I received kindly from Honeysu.

Leaders 7 Wonders

The Korean brand Leaders is one of the most popular brands for sheet masks. It is almost a shame that I have to confess that I hardly ever tried any of their sheet masks. The brand has a long history of more than 10 years founded by dermatologists of the Seoul National University.

Leaders 7 Wonders

Not long ago the brand launched a new sheet mask line called 7 Wonders. These sheet masks were using biocellulose material instead of the regular cotton sheet mask fabric for the sheet masks. There are 7 different masks available, targeting various skin conditions and problems.

Leaders 7 Wonders

The biocellulose fabric is made from fermented coconut juice and the masks are dedicated to different regions od the world, using characteristic key ingredients. I had the chance to try 3 different kinds of the Leaders 7 wonders Biocellulose Masks and apart of the beautiful and colorful packaging design there is more to say about the masks:

Leaders 7 Wonders

The 3 masks were really a nice experience and what I especially loved was the nice fit. The material is soft and yet elastic and can be folded perfectly onto the face. It is layered with protective paper sheet, which you can see above, but on the pictures below you see how the actual material looks like. The biocellullose also adheres nicely to the skin and doesn’t fall or slip around while wearing it.

Leaders 7 Wonders

After using each of the masks my skin felt always hydrated and more bouncy. Of course, by using the masks once each it is difficult to say something about their specific effects on the skin, though.

Leaders 7 Wonders

All in all, I’m heavily in love with these masks: wonderful fit, very adherent and super nice effect in terms of how they act on the skin. Additionally, the packaging design which is simply gorgeous! I can highly recommend you to try these masks, despite the fact that they are a bit more expensive. Each mask retails for 5 €, a set of 5 masks retails for 19.90€.

What is your opinion on biocellulose masks? did you try any already?

Review: Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

3. June 2017

A while ago I was contacted by a Germany-based retailer for Korean cosmetics called LoveMyCosmetics to be part of their ambassador program for the Korean brand Klairs. By now those who are reading my blog for some time know how much I love the products from this brand. I almost tried all their products at least once and they never disappoint me. A good thing is also that Klairs frequently updates their products regarding their ingredients or their packaging and volume. I did review the Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil in the past, but I thought I might still retry it and see whether my opinion on this cleansing oil has changed or not:

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

Klairs is a Korean brand sold and by Wishtrend. It is eco-friendly, producing products which are animal-testing-free, vegan, alcohol-free, paraben-free, and artificial-color-free. Their products address people with sensitive skin and people who want to moisturize their skin. I reviewed some of their products before, like the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum or the Klairs Midnight Blue Cream, which both convinced me in their effects. I also love the Klairs Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, which by the way has been updated and improved, too. Their saying “Simple but Enough” really nails it and I think that many people will agree in that point with me.

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

If you never have heard of cleansing oils you surely missed out a thing. I love cleansing oils especially for removing makeup efficiently without making your skin dry. Especially people with dry skintypes are recommended to use an oil cleanser. I do use the double cleansing method when I wear makeup, which means that I use a makeup remover, like a cleansing balm or oil first and then wash again using foam or gel cleanser. The Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil is perfectly fit for the first step.

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

The product comes packed in a cardboard box which is designed very minimalistic, typical for the brand Klairs. The brown colored plastic pump bottle of the cleansing oil has the same design. The descriptions on the product and packaging are written in Korean and English.

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

The Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil doesn’t come with many ingredients. The few are listed below and can be checked via COSDNA, too:

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Isononyl Isononanoate, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate , Isopropyl Myristate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil , Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Seed Oil , Tocopheryl Acetate , PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate , Polysorbate 20, Fragrance, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) , Carapa Guaianensis Seed Oil, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil

One glance on that list already reveals that the product mainly consists of different plant-based oils, like (black) sesame and black currant. Hence also the name “Deep Black”. Black Sesame oil is rich in antioxidants whereas black currant contains a bunch of vitamins and minerals. Apart from the oils there is shea butter included, too. Since it contains so many oils it may be irritant to people with sensitive or acne prone skin. Please be sure to do a patch test of the product before starting to use it regularly.

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

Since the product comes in a pump container it is super easy to use, too. Just take 2 pumps of the oil and apply it over your face and massage it gently. Afterwards wash it of with lukewarm water for 2 or 3 times until the oil emulsified and is washed off. You can use a foam cleanser or cleansing gel afterwards. The oil is quite runny, but has a nice scent. To me it smells like sweet black tea and I really love the scent a lot and loved it two years ago as much as now.

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

The pump comes with a clip to prevent the pump from being pushed down. I love this clip, especially if you want to take the bottle with you on vacation for example. It makes it much more secure to take along without spilling.

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

Since it is a cleansing oil it is super effective in removing makeup. Plus afterwards the skin doesn’t feel tight or “Squeacky Clean”, but still nourished.

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

The Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil is a very good and gentle makeup remover and I can recommend it for dry skintypes and people who prefer the double cleansing method. The oils prevent the skin to feel dried out and the scent is also really nice. The oil retails for 23,95 € from LoveMyCosmetics. Oh, and here is a little bonus for my lovely readers: You can get a discount of 10% using the coupon code “misslavenklairs” while shopping on LoveMyCosmetics!

Review: Naruko Snail Essence Intense Hydra Repair Mask

23. May 2017

I’ve heard so many positive opinions about the products from Naruko that I was feeling so blessed when I was send a couple of sheet masks to test out for myself. The first mask I tested was the Naruko Snail Essence Intense Hydra Repair Mask, because it contains snail extract, which is always something you cannot go wrong with. Here is my opinion about this sheet mask:

Naruko Snail Essence Intense Hydra Repair Mask

Naruko is a Taiwanese brand and it has a steady amount of followers that love their products. I guess that many people simply do not know the brand because they are not as well spread as other brands like Etude House for example. Yet, Taiwanese sheet masks have always had quite a good reputation in my eyes. And this mask doesn’t let you down either.

Naruko Snail Essence Intense Hydra Repair Mask

Let’s first appreciate the packaging design. The pink color pops up directly and the snail illustration is really crazy and cute on the same time. It shows a big snail with a whole town inside its shell and even a small snail-like a crane building up new houses…You will directly know what the key ingredient of this mask is supposed to be: snail! I talked about the benefits of snail extract several times and it helps wonders for irritated and  damaged skin and acts very moisturizing.

Naruko Snail Essence Intense Hydra Repair Mask

No wonder the Naruko Snail Essence Intense Hydra Repair Mask is directed towards replenishing moisture and repairing damaged skin. The ingredients list of the mask is listed in english on the backside of the sachet:

Purified Water (Aqua), Algin, Snow Fungus (Tremella Fuciformis) Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Butylene Glycol, Carbomer, Glycerin, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit extract, PEG-45M, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Snail Secretion FiltrateAllantoin, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Avena Sativa (OAT) Kernel Extract, Triethanolamine, Beta-Glucan, Sodium Polyglutamate, Fragnance, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate

You can also check the ingredients via COSNDA. The list contains some potential acne triggers and irritants but I personally didn’t observe any breakouts or irritations. On the contrary, I was pleasantly surprised about the texture first. This mask has the thickest and most chewy texture, that you really believe it is some snail slime you are putting on your face. Actually, the texture is mostly influenced by the algin, which give the essence that viscosity. Then there is so many moisturizing goodness in this list: snow fungus extract, sodium hyaluronate, glycrin, aloe extract, cucumber extract...no way that this mask won’t deliver moisture to dry skintypes

Naruko Snail Essence Intense Hydra Repair Mask

My only personal downside was the fit of the mask, which wasn’t perfect, but this downside is negligible. The moist and chewy texture makes up for all of it and leaves the skin perfectly pampered. Naruko Snail Essence Intense Hydra Repair Mask is definitely worth a try. You can get a box containing 10 pieces of this mask from the  official Naruko store for 22.99 US$ with free shipping or from Amazon.com for 16.15 US$ plus shipping costs.

Did you try products from the brand Naruko already?

Review: Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

2. May 2017

// PR SAMPLE / KBEAUTY / MAKEUP //

You know that I love cushions and I have quite some in my stash, but I didn’t have a sunscreen cushion in my collection until recently. During last summer vacation, I thought that it might be nice to try a sunscreen cushion for touching up the sun protection during the day and therefore I decided to go with the Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion in a first test which was provided to me for reviewing purpose by StyleKorean.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Aprilskin is a Korean natural cosmetics brand which was raved a lot about during last year, especially for their cushion foundation. The brand is fairly young and was founded in 2014, but since then has won a numerous amount of prizes for their products. All though I love cushions I didn’t buy ny of their raved cushions and so I was happy to be asked by StyleKorean and be able to choose a product from this brand. I decided for the Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

The Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion is an ultra-lightweight sunscreen that comes in a cushion compact. It is mildly formulated, making it suitable for children and adults according to the description. Furthermore, it doesn’t leave a white cast and yet has SPF 50+ /PA+++. The UV-protection is mineral based and still, it claims to leave no white traces. As you know, sun protection has to be renewed from time to time, but I personally am quite a lazy person. I discovered that I hardly ever touch up my sun protection on my skin and a cushion would make that far easier than a tube.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

The Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion comes packed in a cardboard box in a light pink color. The cushion compact itself has also a nice pink pattern on the lid and looks really feminine. The description on the cardboard box is only in Korean, but Aprilskin’s official site offers an English translation, too.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Here are the ingredients of the product, which I also added in COSDNA:

Water, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Butylene Glycol, Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid, Triethanolamine, Niacinamide, Dimethicone, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Octocrylene, Glycerin, Stearyl Alcohol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Lavender Oil, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Evening Primrose Flower Extract, Blackberry Fruit Extract, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Xylitylglucoside, Xylitol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Raspberry Fruit Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Tea Tree Leaf Oil, Banana Fruit Extract, Apple Fruit Extract, Pear Fruit Extract, Orange Fruit Extract, Grape Fruit Extract, Serine, Sodium Phosphate, Sodium Hydroxide, Pseudoalteromoonas Ferment Extract, Alanine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Xanthan Gum, Proline, Madecasoside

I marked the sunscreens within the list in blue.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Frankly, I’m no sunscreen expert. The field is so complex and until now I never had the time to really go deep into the topic. The product description says, that this cushion only uses physical sunscreen. I spot already two chemical sunscreens from looking at the list: Octinoxate (Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate) and Avobenzone (Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane)….mh…that’s the first disappointment … Checking the other sunscreens I spot that Octocrylene and Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (Uvinol A Plus) are chemical sunscreens, too. Commonly used physical sunscreens are Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, but I do not spot any of these here. I’m quite confused…is this product using physical sunscreens at all?!

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Inside the cushion compact is the typical application sponge. In order to use the sunscreen cushion, you dab the application puff on the cushion sponge until the product is transferred. Then you dab the puff on your face in a patting motion. Don’t smear or rub it on the skin.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Of course, the cushion compact comes with a mirror inside the lid, too, so it is perfect for carrying around and use it while not at home, too. Unlike cushion foundations, the sponge in the compact is not soaked with BB Cream or Foundation, but with sunscreen. Therefore the color of the sponge is white.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

The sunscreen has a creamy consistency. It gives a visible glow to the skin but doesn’t leave any white cast. While applying it on the skin I can feel a cooling effect of the product. The scent of it is also flowery/fresh. It contains some plant-based ingredients like Lavandula, chamomile, and tea tree oil, which create the scent of the product. I didn’t have any problems with the application of the product and it also can be touched up and layered without any further problems.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion has a nice texture and finish, but I’m disappointed that it is not a physical sunscreen as it states on their page. I personally am not someone who refuses any chemical sunscreens, but I prefer it if the description of products are correct. As I said, I’m no sunscreen expert, so if there is anyone who can explain more about the chemicals used here I would be happy to hear about it. Let me know in the comments or write me an email/PN. Oh, and since some of the chemical sunscreens may have effects on hormones and hormonal pathways I would not use this sunscreen on children, despite its mild formulation.

I received this product from StyleKorean, but they do not have it listed in their shop at the moment. They have other cushions from Aprilskin though, so have a look if you are interested. The Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion retails for 26.99 US$ from Amazon.

Aprilskin Magic Snow Sun Cushion

Did you try any sunscreen cushion already? If you have a favorite let me know. Oh, and what is your favorite sunscreen? I’d be interested to hear about it.

Review: Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream

24. April 2017

Let’s  continue my brand introduction for Olivarrier! You might have seen it in my Instagram popping up occasionally and finally I have some time to write up the reviews for it. I received a couple of products, courtesy of Olivarrier, and I already reviewed the Olivarrier Gentle Glow Seed Polishing Mask before. Today, I will be talking about the Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream:

Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream

Olivarrier is a new Korean beauty brand focusing on the key ingredient in their product, which is olive squalane. The name is a mix of “olive” and “barrier”, since the olive squalane in their skincare products is supposed to moisturize and penetrate the skin and helping to protect its natural moisture barrier.

Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream

Olive Squlane

What is olive squalane exactly? First of all, there is squalene and squalane. Squalene occurs widely within animals and plants, since it is part of the synthesis of sterols. It occurs in our sebum for example. But also in plant oils and in a high concentration it is also found in shark liver. Squalene is unsaturated and therefore it oxidizes easily. In order to prevent oxidization squalene is hydrogenated leading to saturated and stable squalane. Olive squalane is an animal friendly alternative of using squalane derived from sharks for example and has the same benefits for skin. Squalane is a great emollient, humectant and suited for sensitive skins by being non-irritating.

When I heard about the brand first time on Fiftly Shades of Snail I was attracted especially about the word “olive”, but also because of the simple and minimalistic design of the products. They have a beautiful skincare range that you can check out on their official web page (unfortunately, the last days it seems to be not available). It consists of a cleansing bar, a toner, and essence, two different creams, and the mask I’m showing you here.

Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream

The Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream comes in a simple white cardboard box with descriptions in Korean and English. It is a skin-barrier strengthening cream designed for dry and sensitive skintypes containing 5 % of panthenol. The cream itself comes in a tube, which I personally prefer over jars.

Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream

Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream is weak acid based (pH 5.5), free from chemical preservatives (parabens & phenoxyethanol), moreover, it is fragrance-free, coloring-agent free and dermatologically tested. The ingredients are:

Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Panthenol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glycerin, Squlane (Olive Sqialane), Cerearyl Alcohol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Madecassoside, Allantoin, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Arginine, Ceramide NP, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitane Olivate, Carbomer, Octyldodecanol, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Cetearyl Glucoside, Oryza Sativia (Rice) Bran Wax, Camellia Sinsenis Leaf Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Ectract, Dodecane, Isohexadecane, Isoeicosane, Octodecane, Tetradecane, Dimethicone, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Ectract, Disodium EDTA, Potassium Hydroxide, Tocopheryl Acetate, Butylene Glycol, Glucose, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Linoleic Acid

Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream

You can check the single ingredients >> via COSDNA here <<. Most of the ingredients in this cream are safe to use, but there are some potential irritants marked aswell. Many of the ingredients are moisturizing ones, like panthenol, shea butter, olive oil, avocado oil, camellia oil, olive squalane, ceramide and hyaluronic acid. Apart from all these moisturizing ingredients, the cream also contains Madecassoside,  triterpenoid compound found in Centella asiatica. Madecassoside has anti-inflammatory, wound healing, and anti-oxidant activities. It is supported by Allantoin, which also has wound-healing and cell-regererating properties. However, for those avoiding silicons and silicon-based products, the cream also contains Dimethicone, a silicon-based oil.

Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream

The texture of the Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream is like you expect from a moisturizer. The white cream emollifies quickly upon application and absorbs, leaving the skin non-sticky and non-greasy. It leaves a cooling sensation behind after it absorbed. The cream is scentless, too. I absolutely cannot say anything negative about my experience with this cream, while using it during daytime. It didn’t irritate my skin, and it works well with makeup, too. My skin feels sufficiently moisturized, too.

Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream

The only downside for the Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream which I can thing of is that it contains the silicon-oil Dimethicone, which some people would love to avoid. Other than that the ingredients list is really to the point perfect for moisturizing and soothing skin and I can imagine that sensitive skintypes, and people with dry and irritated skin might love this cream. There is another cream from Olivarrier, called Dual Moist Comfort Cream. I think that cream is lighter than the Emollient Extra Comfort Cream, but I didn’t try it yet. The tube of the cream is grey instead of green and can therefore be easily distinguished from each other. You can buy the Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream from RoseRoseShop for 19600Won (~20 US$).

Did you try any of the products from the brand Olivarrier already? What is your opinion about silicons and silicon-based ingredients in cosmetics?

Review: I’m from Ginseng Serum

22. April 2017

// PR SAMPLE / SKINCARE / KBEAUTY //

I’m so happy to present to you another serum that has become a fixed part in my skincare routine. A while ago I received this new I’m from Ginseng Serum from Wishtrend for reviewing purpose and I’ve been using it every day since then. I’ve been so curious to try a ginseng serum since some time now and seeing that I’m from has newly launched products containing Ginseng made me really curious. I’ve been loving the I’m from Honey Mask so I had high expectations and hopes for this product, too.

I'm from Ginseng Serum

I’m from is a Korean brand with the motto “a good cosmetics with a good ingredient”. I’m from is using natural ingredients in their cosmetics, and they want to be honest and quality provider. They have three promises to their customers, being 1. open composition, which means known ingredients, 2. Honest Farm, meaning honest ingredients with a true origin, and 3. being free of harmful chemicals. The I’m from Ginseng Serum is packed in a brown cardboard box with an imprinted pattern of ginseng. The brown color makes it look quite traditional in my opinion. Inside the cardboard box, you will find a 30 ml glass bottle with a dropper attached to the cap.

I'm from Ginseng Serum

The I’m from Ginseng Serum is targeting nourishment, rejuvenation and has anti-aging properties. It gives elasticity to mid-aged skin containing concentrated ginseng extract.

I'm from Ginseng Serum

The ingredients of the serum are listed on the cardboard packaging:

Water, Red Ginseng Extract, Butylene Glycol, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Panax Ginseng Seed Oil, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Root Extract, Paeonia Albiflora Root Extract, Angelica Gigas Root Extract, Rheum Palmatum Root Extract, Angelica Pubescens Root Extract, Schizonepeta Tenuifolia Extract, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Ethoxydiglycol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Tromethamine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Hyaluronic Acid, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance

You can find the ingredients list on COSDNA, too. Red Ginseng Extract is the key ingredient of the serum, but you will also find other ingredients listed, that is always welcome in my skincare: the serum also contains green tea leaf extract, ginseng oil, licorice root extract, and a couple of other plant-derived extracts. It also contains hyaluronic acid for moisturization. There are some remarks for the ingredients list though: the product also contains Cyclopentasiloxane, a cyclic silicon derivate that temporarily plumps the skin and makes it feel softer. It also enables other silicon products to absorb better into the skin and is often used together with Dimethiconol, like you will find here, too. Dimethiconol is a lipid on silicon basic that makes the skin feel soft but doesn’t feel greasy. Although it is on silicon basis it has a positive effect on the skin, because it enhances the moisture content of the skin to keep it hydrated. But, if you are generally avoiding silicons this product is not suited for you.

I'm from Ginseng Serum

Ginseng

The I’m from Ginseng Serum contains 7.98 % red ginseng extract. Ginseng extract has the properties to enhance the blood circulation. It contains a large number of phytonutrients which have anti-aging properties and effect on the skin, like stimulating the collagen production. Ginseng also contains many vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. All these properties act positively on your skin and its appearance making it look more lively and plump and younger.

I'm from Ginseng Serum

I received this serum as part of the beauty tester program and I’ve been using it every day since, mostly twice a day. This jelly, golden serum applies nicely and feels moist on the skin. It has a nice ginseng scent with a rose scent undertone. The scent is very present, so it is may be difficult to handle for scent sensitive people. It absorbs quickly but leaves the skin slightly sticky at first, but this feeling vanishes after some time. There is no greasy film left on the skin and the skin feels soft and smooth (due to the silicons). The serum makes the skin feel more bouncy and plump and it also makes the skin appear more glowy and healthy after using it. In terms of anti-aging, it is hard to say if it reduces the wrinkles or not. So far I didn’t see any visible changes here.

I'm from Ginseng Serum

I personally enjoy using this serum a lot. I love the scent and the texture of the serum. I also love the effect it has considering the improved elasticity on the skin. I have to point out nevertheless, that the smooth feeling of the skin is mainly caused by the silicons in the ingredients list. Also, for people who are scent sensitive, the scent will be too strong I guess. This is the first serum I used containing highly concentrated ginseng, and to be honest I’m now curious to compare it with other ginseng serum.

If you are curious about this serum, too, it retails for 28.80 US$ and is available at Wishtrend. You will find all the information about the I’m from Ginseng Serum >>here<<. Review: First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

16. April 2017

My short video on Instagram showing the First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist made many of you quite curious what this product is after all. This is the last product from BNTnews this month and it is also the most fun product from the three I received.

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

First Cosmetics is not a brand that I knew before, but it is also one of many Korean brands it seems. First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist is a kit to prepare your own DIY mist, containing everything you need to have for doing so. It is beautifully packed in a gift box packaging with holographic sparkles all over. Very elegant and feminin. I love the blue color of the box!

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

The description of the product is written in Korean only, except for the ingredients. But luckily, BNTnews send the translated instructions, otherwise I would not have been able to do it right ptobably.

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

The ingredients listed on COSDNA:

Sodium Bicarbonate, Adipic Acid, Sodium Carbonate, Glucose, Sucrose, Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid, PEG-150, Trehalose, Adenosine, Niacinamide, Hydrolized Collagen, Biotin, Riboflavin, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Powder, Fragaria Ananassa (Strawberry) Fruit Powder, Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis(Rosemarty) Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Powder, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Fragnance, Cl 16185, Cl 19140, Cl 15985, Cl 42090

The ingredients are really ingresting and mostly sugars and plant extracts. Additionally, Niacinamide and Adenosine are also included in the ingredients. apart from the fragnance and the coloring, the only ingredient not labelled green is PEG-150, a binding agent.

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

Inside the beauty is continued by two bottle: one bottle containing colorful tablets. A second empty atomizer bottle made from glas with golden cap and ornaments lies beside the beautiful tablet bottle.

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

The tablett bottle has a very oldstyle and beautiful design, but made from hard plastic.

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

The two bottles look really beautiful to look at next to each other.

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

The bottle containing the colorful tablet is probably the most eye-catching factor of the kit. Look at all those pastell colors:

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

There are four different colors of the tablets, blue, yellow, pink, and green. Each color targets a certain skincare problem:

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

Green contains Rosemary extracts and targets wrinkles, Blue contains Lavender Extract and targets skin reproduction, Yellow contains lemon extract and has brightening properties, and last but not least, Pink contains strawberry extracts for skin condition management.

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

Yet, with the tablets and the bottles we do not have a mist yet, but we have to prepare it. Therefore, according to the instructions you fill the atomizer bottle with 2/3 with warm water, then you add two of the tablets into the bottle, too, and wait for the magic to happen. The tablets will sizzle and bubble up until fully dissolved into the water, staining it with the color of the tablets used. I used the pink tablets for skin condition management for my test. After the tablets are fully melted you can close the atomizer bottle with the cap, but reopen it after 1 hour to fully let out all the air. Otherwise you will ruin the spray bottle by clogging it. Your selfmade mist is now ready to use.

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

I only tried one of the tablets, because I’m not using mists daily, so I cannot talk about the effect or the differences between all the colors, but for me the mist was a miss considering the effect because I didn’t feel any differences except from that refreshening feeling that you get by spraying water on and around your face. Yet, probably caused by the sugars, the mist leaves a slightly sticky feeling on the skin. I was only able to test the pink tablet here.

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

I would probably not repurchase this mist, and also I must state here, that for all and every DIY skincare product it is important to work hygienically…you do not want any molds or bacteria infect your product. Also, depending on the water quality of your living area you might consider to take drinking water…or substitute it maybe with your favourite toner…Also, I would not keep the product for longer than a week. The process is super fun and exciting and I can definetly say that I was entertained here. Another evidence that asian beauty brands are the champions when it comes to “skincaretainment”. But in terms of skincare benefits, I do not really see the use of the product here.

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist

First Cosmetics Mulbit Vitamin Sparkling Mist was fun to use, but did not have sufficient visible effects for me to make it a HG or favorite product for me. The amount of tablets will definitely last you for many weeks though, but unfortunately, I don’t know the pricetag for this new product yet. also, please keep in mind, to work as hygienically as possible when you are dealing with DIY products like that. This might also be something, that is not suited for everyone.

Review: Maxclinic Meso Change Program

11. April 2017

The name of this newly launched product is super long: Maxclinic Neo-Tingle Patch Roller Program for Turn Over and Skin Rejuvenation…wow! Let’s shorten it to Maxclinic Meso Change Program, a skincare program designed to give deep hydration and firmness to the skin by using a kind of micro-needling technique to reach the lower layers of the skin. This products was kindly offered to me by BNTnews for reviewing purpose.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

I’ve been reviewing two products from Maxclinic previously and both of them were cleansers, so I’m really happy to be able to try another type of product from this Korean brand.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

The Maxclinic Meso Change Program consists of two components packed in a beautiful golden gift box. The design of the box is simple and yet elegant, somehow also appears science-y. The two components of the program are the Maxclinic Deep & Deeper Meso Change Ampoule and the Maxclinic Hyaluronic Meso Change Roller.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

The Maxclinic Meso Change Program is designed for those that feel that their skin is not absorbing other skincare products even though you are exfoliating your skin. Furthermore, micro-needling is quite famous these days so it enables a well-known spa-treatment in your home, too.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

Micro-Needling

If you haven’t heard of micro-needling yet you might be a bit confused now. Micro-needling is a new technique that is used to renew the skin’s appearance and texture by bringing beneficial ingredients (usually hyaluronic acid and collagen) into the deeper layers of the dermis using tiny needles rolling over the skin that create small channels/ micro-injuries. The nutritious ingredients can now be absorbed better into the layers below the dermis. Many people believe in the effect and also show considerable before and after pictures to show the positive effect of this method on their skin. The technique is offered in beauty saloons, but also by skin doctor’s and plastic surgeons. Most people are either afraid of the possible pain (it contains the word “needle”, which means there is something going on here) or don’t want to “hurt” their skin physically. Yes, there are needles and yes- depending on your pain tolerance- it could hurt or tingle and your face will be irritated and red some time. But still, there is a difference between the micro-needling performed at the doctor’s to the micro-needling performed at home: usually, the needles used by professionals are longer and thus penetrate deeper into the skin.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

The Maxclinic Meso Change Program is not using a real micro-needling roller though! The real micro-needling rollers or dermarollers are made with needles of stainless steel that can be disinfected and reused several times. The Maxclinic Hyaluronic Meso Change Roller is designed for a one-time usage. The needles of the roller are not real needles, but they are made of pyramid-shaped hyaruronic acid and lactose. I suppose the lactose sugar helps to crystallize the hyaluronic acid to form the “needles”. While rolling it over the skin the “needles” melt into the skin and the roller becomes blunt and can be discarded. The Maxclinic Meso Change Program contains 4 of the separately packed rollers, a handle in order to use them, and 4 small bottles of the Maxclinic Deep & Deeper Meso Change Ampoule.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

Maxclinic Deep & Deeper Meso Change Ampoule

Before you start using the roller on your face you should apply the highly concentrated special ampoule, which is prepared without even a drop of water! Each of the small ampoule bottles contain 7 ml, so one bottle will last for several applications. The ampoule contains the core ingredients of the dermis, collagen, hyaluronic acid, and four types of ceramides. These ingredients penetrate deep into the skin to visibly firm, nourish, and strengthen the skin barrier. Active ingredients are Adenosine and Niacinamide. The other ingredients are listed below:

Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Propanediol, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Squalane, Collagen, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Polyglyceryl-3 Cetyl Ether, Triolein, Glyceryl Dioleate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide NP, Ceramide NS, Ceramide EOP, Ceramide AP, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Allantoin, Panthenol, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Gossypium Herbaceum (Cotton) Seed Oil, Arctium Lappa Seed Oil, Pyridoxine HCl, Cyanocobalamin, Maltodextrin, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate

You can check the ingredients via COSDNA. It is recommended to apply 8-10 drops to the cleaned and toned face using it once or twice a day. What I like about the ampoule is the screwing cap, so you can always close it up again and use it on another day.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

The ampoule is a runny cream-type product with a very subtle scent. It has a richness in the texture, but also doesn’t feel heavy or sticky once absorbed. It also does not leave a film on the skin or make it feel greasy.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

Maxclinic Hyaluronic Meso Change Roller

The Hyaluronic Meso Change roller has a hyaluronic acid content of more than 97 %. As I said before, it doesn’t have real needles, like other micro-needling rollers. It is a one time use roller formulated with guardangular pyramid-shaped hyaruronic acid for deep penetration and enhanced absorption of active ingredients, renewing firmness and smoothness to the skin. The active ingredient is hyaluronic acid, the inactive ingredient is lactose.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

In order to use the roller first apply the ampoule all over, then place the golden handle included in the kit on the separately packed roller and remove the protective cap.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

Gently roll across the skin for absorption for 3-5 minutes until the hyaluronic acid melts into the skin. You will feel that the roller becomes blunt. You can now remove the roller from the handle again and discard it. It is recommended to be used once or twice a week.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

For my personally experience with the Maxclinic Meso Roller Program I have to state that I’m not very pain sensitive. Having dark hair waxing, epilating, and other hair removal techniques have make me quite insensitive. In my opinion, the micro-needling with the Meso Roller Program was not painful. First of all, there are no real needles here. Secondly, the roller becomes blunt quite fast, although I didn’t press hard at all. This is of course different from person to person, but I assume that if you want to try micro-needling and you are afraid of real metal needles you should try this one before. It could be a good way to now, whether you can tolerate the “pain” or not. In my experience, the roller helped to massage the skin and also helped to absorb the ampoule more thoroughly. The skin is feeling more plump, because of the increasing blood circulation by rolling all over. I’d love to try it for more than only 4 weeks to know whether it also makes any differences in the skin’s texture and appearance regarding wrinkles or pores or old scars. I’m not able to tell about these long-term effects though.

Maxclinic Meso Change Program

I think the Maxclinic Meso Roller Program is a great way to try kind of a micro-needling experience at home. I love the fact that the rollers don’t have real needles, but are make from lactose and hyaluronic acid. Also, I did like the consistency of the ampoule and the ingredients used in it. The downside is of course the price: It retails for 152.80 US$ from amazon.com and for 81.05 US$ from eBay for 4 uses! This is a lot of money, but it is still not as much as a session with a professional costs.

Review: Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack

6. April 2017

Okay, I admit at that point that I LOVE the Kicho Sheep Oil Cream I reviewed previously and since then I’ve wanted to lay my hand on this Kicho Camellia Sleeping Pack. Can you imagine how I freaked out when I saw that I would receive the sleeping pack from BNTnews  for reviewing purpose?! Oh yes, that big smile on my face the whole day! Expectations were high so let’s see if the sleeping pack hold up to them:

Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack

Kicho cosmetics is a Korean brand and has the saying “We provide pure nature greatness to your skin”. I read so many reviews on their products, especially about the sheep oil cream, and I was not dissapointed. First of all, I love the design of the packaging of the Kicho products. It was already unbelieveably pretty for the cream and here we go again with this breathtaking packaging design! It looks elegant and feminine on the same time with a beautiful flower printing. The cardboard box looks like a present and it is not only pretty from the outside, but even inside the box the beauty continues:

Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack

Inside you will find the tube of the sleeping pack and a brush. The tube has the same flower illustration as the cardboard box, and all of these flowers are combined with golden colors which makes everything even prettier. Inside the lid you will find the product description, which is written in Korean and at least with English ingredients list. The Kicho Camellia Sleeping Pack is an overnight mask containing Lanolin (“sheep oil”), rose water, fermented black ginseng extract and Camellia Japonica oil (1000mg) as main ingredients. It is also worth to mention that the sleeping pack contains Shea Butter and Hyaluronic Acid, and thus seems to be a great moisturizer already from the ingredients. You can check the full ingredients via COSDNA: Most of the ingredients are green labelled but there are a few potential irritants, too, but nothing really worth to mention.

Water, Glycerin, Lanolin Oil, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Dimenthicone, Petrolatum, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Sodium Hyaluronate, Camellia Japonica Seed OIl (1,000mg), Dimenthicone/Vinyl Dimenthicone Crosspolymer, PEG-100 Stearate, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Sorbitan Stearate, Panaz Ginseng Root Extract, Zea Mays (Corn) Kernel Extract, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Ammonium Acryloyldimethylataurate/VP Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolyer, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Allantoin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Totarol, Decylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Parfum, Disodium EDTA, Magnolia Kobus Bark Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Propolis Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower/Leaf Extract, Thujopsis Dolabrata Branch Extract, BHT, CI 19140, CI 15985, CI 16185, CI 42090.

Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack

I want to let you know some more about Lanolin at this point, which is a superb ingredient for dry skintypes:

Lanolin

Lanolin is also called wool wax and is produced by the sebaceous glands of sheep to protect their wool from getting wet and protects the sheep from climate and weather. Actually, it is obtained by cleaning the obtained freshly shorn wool from sheep, so you do not need to fear that animals are harmed for obtaining lanolin and the name sheep oil is a bit misleading here because one thinks of horse oil directly. Also, as you might have thought first, Lanolin is not a new fancy ingredient but has been used for more than hundred years and cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. Also, thinking of Lanolin as fat is also not correct, because it lacks glycerides, but contains of sterol esters instead. By hydrolizing lanolin you will obtain lanolin alcohols, which are rich in cholesterol, and lanolin acids. 40 % of the lanolin acids are AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acids)! Also, studies have shown that Lanolin has chemical and physical similarities to human stratum corneum (the skin layer you actually see when looking at your skin) lipids. These lipids regulate the hydration state of your skin. So lanolin is great to protect your skin from water-loss and it also is a great skin softener. Also, since it has semiocclusive properties your skin can still breath. And on top of that the healing properties of lanolin are great and it helps to recover rough and dry, itching and cracking skin better than glycerin or petroleum. Nevertheless, it still might be that you react allergic to lanolin, so be sure to patch test products before using them.

Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack

The Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack is an overnight mask that has to be applied before going to bed. In the next morning you wash your face with lukewarm water and will be able to see the results. The Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack comes in a large tube containing 100 ml. This is quite a size and I guess it will last for a long time, until it is used up. If the product comes in a value set like here, it comes together with a brush to apply the pack on your face. I’m simply in love with the design of the tube already *_*

Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack

The brush is very soft and has the perfect size to use it for covering your face. I love the golden handle of the brush and how it seems to be a good quality brush. It makes it easy to apply a thin layer on the face, and since the bristles are so soft they won’t irritate your skin.

Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack

The sleeping pack itself is a thick yellow-ish colored cream with a flowery, rosy scent. It spreads nicely and builds a moist and glowy layer on the skin leaving the skin nourished. You will feel almost nothing of the cream because it is super light, despite containing so many nourishing ingredients.

Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack

The Kicho Camellia Sleeping Pack is designed to moistzurize, sooth and protect the skin from toxins. After applying it on my skin I discovered that my skin looked calm and smooth the next morning. What I love especially is, that the texture is not sticky. So it is super comfortable to sleep with. Also, it is surprising that a thin layer already does a super great job. It seems even though using a small amount there are plenty of nutrients inside this pack.

Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack

I’m SO happy that the Kicho Camelia Sleeping Pack is exactly how I imagined it to be: moisturizing, calming, nourishing…with a luxurious scent and beautiful packaging! Definitely recommend you to give it a try! You can get it as value pack like here, together with a brush, or only the pack. It retails for 53 US$ or 35 US$, respectively from the official Kicho web page. But it is also available on amazon here (it is also the official store from Kicho). Did you try any products from Kicho already? Do you use Lanolin containing skincare products?

Review: Swanicoco Swan Cream Butter Edition

4. April 2017

// PR SAMPLE / SKINCARE / AFFILIATE LINK //

Here is another review for the new Korean brand called Swanicoco. Previously, I reviewed their Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream, a light day-time cream and today I’ll review the Swanicoco Swan Cream Butter Edition, a rich and highly moisturizing butter.  This product was also part of the package that Swanicoco send to me, together with many additional products and samples! I’m still very thankful for that!:)

Swanicoco Swan Cream

First of all, Swanicoco is a Korean brand that stared off its business by creating naturally fermented soaps. Now, they have a huge range of products including skincare and make up products, but still all the products share the same believe in natural ingredients excluding artificial and chemical components. Swanicoco uses grains, fruits, herbs and oriental medicine materials as raw materials for their fermentation. By fermenting the products they can be much more easily absorbed into the skin, help retaining moisture and improve damaged skin. They state that instead of using purified water like in most exsiting cosmetics, Swanicoco has replaced the water with ferment filtrate. Additionally, pigments, synthetic perfumes, chemical preservatives, alcohol, mineral oil, paraben and benzophenones have been excluded from their products. Oh, and they are also free from animal testing!

Swanicoco Swan Cream

The brand name Swanicoco is derived from the word “swan” and the term “coco”. “Swan” referrs to the elegance and feminine aspects of the bird we probably all now. “Coco” refers to the coconut, representing the natural ingredients. In the logo of the brand you will find the word “natural”, which refers to the brand as being a natural cosmetics brand. There is also a peony blossom in the middle of the logo  that stands for richness and splendor.

Swanicoco Swan Cream

The Swanicoco Swan Cream has a beautiful and clean design. Everything comes in white with black font and ornaments and illustrations. This product even shows a very cute illustration of a swan. It is printed on the card board box and on top of the lid of the plastic jar. The cream also comes with a plastic spatula for taking out the cream without using your fingers. The Swanicoco Swan Cream comes with the sub title to be the highest moisturizer butter edition and is suited for very dry skin types.

Swanicoco Swan Cream

I translated the ingredients with help of Google Translate, so I hope there are not too many mistakes. The Swanicoco Swan Cream lists bamboo water, Shea Butter, and Camellia extract (Green Tea) as key ingredients, together with a patented ingredient called Moist 24™PH. Below you see the full ingredients list:

Bamboo water, Shea Butter (20%), butylene glycol, methyl methacrylate crosspolymer, horsehair root extract, purified water, glycerin, carbomer, 1,2-hexanediol, green tea extract, honey extract, camellia bark extracts, camellia leaf extract, betaine, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, argan oil, jojoba seed oil, tocopherol, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, glyceryl stearate, sorbitan stearate, olive oil, hydrolized milk protein, cetearyl alcohol, glyceryl oleate, Potassium hydroxide, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, Sedema Moist 24™PH, lavender oil, allantoin, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, arginine, caprylhydroxamic acid, propanediol

You can also check the ingredients via COSDNA. There are some ingredients that are labelled as potential acne triggers and irritants so please be sure to patch-test the product before using it. I also found some information about the Moist 24™PH. It says in the patent that Moist 24™PH is a “hydroglycolic extract of Imperata Cylindrica root”, providing the skin with “considerable hydration”. It is “used for dehydrated skin, make-up foundations and dry scalp treatment” and “creates water supplies and moisturises the epidermis for 24 hours.”

Swanicoco Swan Cream

The cream is a thickly textured butter that feels like silk, with a subtle scent. The jar is small and only contains 50 ml, but since the cream is very rich and nourishing only a small amount is needed on the skin.

Swanicoco Swan Cream

It melts when applying it to the skin by the temperature of our body. After rubbing it in it is fully absorbed by the skin with no trace of greasiness. The skin feels plump and bouncy, but there is no feeling of heaviness.

Swanicoco Swan Cream

I personally love creams with butter textures, especially for winter or for my night-time skincare. I love that feeling of waking up with fresh and bouncy skin that feels hydrated. I’ve been testing this cream during nights for the last two months alternating with the Banila Co. Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream and I didn’t experience any negative aspects or downsides of the Swanicoco Swan Cream Butter Edition.
