Review: Maxclinic Meso Change Program

The name of this newly launched product is super long: Maxclinic Neo-Tingle Patch Roller Program for Turn Over and Skin Rejuvenation…wow! Let’s shorten it to Maxclinic Meso Change Program, a skincare program designed to give deep hydration and firmness to the skin by using a kind of micro-needling technique to reach the lower layers of the skin. This products was kindly offered to me by BNTnews for reviewing purpose.

I’ve been reviewing two products from Maxclinic previously and both of them were cleansers, so I’m really happy to be able to try another type of product from this Korean brand.

The Maxclinic Meso Change Program consists of two components packed in a beautiful golden gift box. The design of the box is simple and yet elegant, somehow also appears science-y. The two components of the program are the Maxclinic Deep & Deeper Meso Change Ampoule and the Maxclinic Hyaluronic Meso Change Roller.

The Maxclinic Meso Change Program is designed for those that feel that their skin is not absorbing other skincare products even though you are exfoliating your skin. Furthermore, micro-needling is quite famous these days so it enables a well-known spa-treatment in your home, too.

Micro-Needling

If you haven’t heard of micro-needling yet you might be a bit confused now. Micro-needling is a new technique that is used to renew the skin’s appearance and texture by bringing beneficial ingredients (usually hyaluronic acid and collagen) into the deeper layers of the dermis using tiny needles rolling over the skin that create small channels/ micro-injuries. The nutritious ingredients can now be absorbed better into the layers below the dermis. Many people believe in the effect and also show considerable before and after pictures to show the positive effect of this method on their skin. The technique is offered in beauty saloons, but also by skin doctor’s and plastic surgeons. Most people are either afraid of the possible pain (it contains the word “needle”, which means there is something going on here) or don’t want to “hurt” their skin physically. Yes, there are needles and yes- depending on your pain tolerance- it could hurt or tingle and your face will be irritated and red some time. But still, there is a difference between the micro-needling performed at the doctor’s to the micro-needling performed at home: usually, the needles used by professionals are longer and thus penetrate deeper into the skin.

The Maxclinic Meso Change Program is not using a real micro-needling roller though! The real micro-needling rollers or dermarollers are made with needles of stainless steel that can be disinfected and reused several times. The Maxclinic Hyaluronic Meso Change Roller is designed for a one-time usage. The needles of the roller are not real needles, but they are made of pyramid-shaped hyaruronic acid and lactose. I suppose the lactose sugar helps to crystallize the hyaluronic acid to form the “needles”. While rolling it over the skin the “needles” melt into the skin and the roller becomes blunt and can be discarded. The Maxclinic Meso Change Program contains 4 of the separately packed rollers, a handle in order to use them, and 4 small bottles of the Maxclinic Deep & Deeper Meso Change Ampoule.

Maxclinic Deep & Deeper Meso Change Ampoule

Before you start using the roller on your face you should apply the highly concentrated special ampoule, which is prepared without even a drop of water! Each of the small ampoule bottles contain 7 ml, so one bottle will last for several applications. The ampoule contains the core ingredients of the dermis, collagen, hyaluronic acid, and four types of ceramides. These ingredients penetrate deep into the skin to visibly firm, nourish, and strengthen the skin barrier. Active ingredients are Adenosine and Niacinamide. The other ingredients are listed below:

Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Propanediol, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Squalane, Collagen, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Polyglyceryl-3 Cetyl Ether, Triolein, Glyceryl Dioleate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide NP, Ceramide NS, Ceramide EOP, Ceramide AP, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Allantoin, Panthenol, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Gossypium Herbaceum (Cotton) Seed Oil, Arctium Lappa Seed Oil, Pyridoxine HCl, Cyanocobalamin, Maltodextrin, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate

You can check the ingredients via COSDNA. It is recommended to apply 8-10 drops to the cleaned and toned face using it once or twice a day. What I like about the ampoule is the screwing cap, so you can always close it up again and use it on another day.

The ampoule is a runny cream-type product with a very subtle scent. It has a richness in the texture, but also doesn’t feel heavy or sticky once absorbed. It also does not leave a film on the skin or make it feel greasy.

Maxclinic Hyaluronic Meso Change Roller

The Hyaluronic Meso Change roller has a hyaluronic acid content of more than 97 %. As I said before, it doesn’t have real needles, like other micro-needling rollers. It is a one time use roller formulated with guardangular pyramid-shaped hyaruronic acid for deep penetration and enhanced absorption of active ingredients, renewing firmness and smoothness to the skin. The active ingredient is hyaluronic acid, the inactive ingredient is lactose.

In order to use the roller first apply the ampoule all over, then place the golden handle included in the kit on the separately packed roller and remove the protective cap.

Gently roll across the skin for absorption for 3-5 minutes until the hyaluronic acid melts into the skin. You will feel that the roller becomes blunt. You can now remove the roller from the handle again and discard it. It is recommended to be used once or twice a week.

For my personally experience with the Maxclinic Meso Roller Program I have to state that I’m not very pain sensitive. Having dark hair waxing, epilating, and other hair removal techniques have make me quite insensitive. In my opinion, the micro-needling with the Meso Roller Program was not painful. First of all, there are no real needles here. Secondly, the roller becomes blunt quite fast, although I didn’t press hard at all. This is of course different from person to person, but I assume that if you want to try micro-needling and you are afraid of real metal needles you should try this one before. It could be a good way to now, whether you can tolerate the “pain” or not. In my experience, the roller helped to massage the skin and also helped to absorb the ampoule more thoroughly. The skin is feeling more plump, because of the increasing blood circulation by rolling all over. I’d love to try it for more than only 4 weeks to know whether it also makes any differences in the skin’s texture and appearance regarding wrinkles or pores or old scars. I’m not able to tell about these long-term effects though.

I think the Maxclinic Meso Roller Program is a great way to try kind of a micro-needling experience at home. I love the fact that the rollers don’t have real needles, but are make from lactose and hyaluronic acid. Also, I did like the consistency of the ampoule and the ingredients used in it. The downside is of course the price: It retails for 152.80 US$ from amazon.com and for 81.05 US$ from eBay for 4 uses! This is a lot of money, but it is still not as much as a session with a professional costs.
