Review: Swanicoco Super Natural Hydrogel Brightening Mask

26. March 2018

// PR SAMPLE / SKINCARE / AFFILIATE LINKS //

I’m very slow with sheet mask reviews. On the one hand, I have so many that I forget to not my impressions while using them and forget about them. On the other hand, it is difficult to write a proper review from using a specific sheet mask only one time. Here is the Swanicoco Super Natural Hydrogel Brightening Mask provided by Swanicoco. I was able to try it a couple of times, and I hope that I can provide a descent opinion about this one.

Swanicoco Super Natural Hydrogel Brightening Mask

Swanicoco is a Korean brand that stared off its business by creating naturally fermented soaps. Now, they have a huge range of products including skin care and make up products, but still all the products share the same believe in natural ingredients excluding artificial and chemical components. Swanicoco uses grains, fruits, herbs and oriental medicine materials as raw materials for their fermentation. By fermenting the products they can be much more easily absorbed into the skin, help retaining moisture and improve damaged skin. They state that instead of using purified water like in most existing cosmetics, Swanicoco has replaced the water with ferment filtrate. Additionally, pigments, synthetic perfumes, chemical preservatives, alcohol, mineral oil, paraben and benzophenones have been excluded from their products. Oh, and they are also free from animal testing!

Swanicoco Super Natural Hydrogel Brightening Mask

The brand name Swanicoco is derived from the word “swan” and the term “coco”. “Swan” referrs to the elegance and feminine aspects of the bird we probably all know. “Coco” refers to the coconut, representing the natural ingredients. In the logo of the brand you will find the word “natural”, which refers to the brand as being a natural cosmetics brand. There is also a peony blossom in the middle of the logo  that stands for richness and splendor.

Swanicoco Super Natural Hydrogel Brightening Mask

This hydrogel sheet mask has brightening properties. It contains ingredients like Niacinamide and Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, which have brightening properties. Moreover, it contains ingredients that are hydrating and soothing, like Aloe extract, Peach fruit extract, Glycerin, and Sodium Hyaluronate. You can check for the ingredients on SkinCarisma*.

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Xanthan Gum, Aureobasidium Pullulans Ferment, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Algae Extract, Soy Isoflavones, Sodium Hyaluronate, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Primula Veris Extract, Alchemilla Vulgaris Extract, Veronica Officinalis Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Calcium Carrageenan, Allantoin, Niacinamide, Calcium Pantothenate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pyridoxine HCl, Maltodextrin, Silica, Sodium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Bambusa Textilis Stem Extract, Pinus Palustris Leaf Extract, Calcium Lactate, Flavor

Swanicoco Super Natural Hydrogel Brightening Mask

The hydrogel is torn easily, although it isn’t very thin. It stays on the skin, and doesn’t fall off. But I always have some problems with hydrogels and applying them somehow. Is it only me? The fit depends on the shape of your face. For me it had a nice fit apart from the part for the nose, which was too much. The hydrogel mask has a cooling effect on the skin and feels very refreshing, also when not stored in the fridge. This cooling effect also results in a short-time brightening of the skin. I cannot say if it makes a big difference when used on a regular basis in terms of brightening though.

Swanicoco Super Natural Hydrogel Brightening Mask

Currently, I couldn’t find the Swanicoco Super Natural Hydrogel Brightening Mask anywhere. But Swanicoco has also a bunch of other masks and really nice products. You can also find Swanicoco products at Beautytap* (formerly W2Beauty). Check my Coupons & Discount page for a valid coupon to save some bucks, if you decide to buy something from them.

Review: Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule R

5. January 2018

// PR SAMPLE / KBEAUTY / AFFILIATE LINKS //

A while ago I was selected for the second round of the Swanicoco Swan Program, and they send me a huge package containing a ton of skin care products. Previously, I reviewed the Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care Skintoner and Emulsion and today I want to let you know about my experience with the Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule R.

Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule

Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule

The brand name Swanicoco is derived from the word “swan” and the term “coco”. “Swan” referrs to the elegance and feminine aspects of the bird we probably all know. “Coco” refers to the coconut, representing the natural ingredients. In the logo of the brand you will find the word “natural”, which refers to the brand as being a natural cosmetics brand. There is also a peony blossom in the middle of the logo  that stands for richness and splendor.

Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule

The Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule R targets aging skin by providing a mixture of EGF and FGF for wrinkle care, nutrition and soothing. Typically for an ampoule the ingredients list is also very short and concentrates on the key ingredients:

sh-Polypeptide-11, Tocopherol, Allantoin, Carbomer, Arginine, Adenosine, Olibanum, and Rosa Damascena Flower Oil

If you want to check for the properties of the single ingredients I can advise you to look them up at SkinCarisma. The analysis shows directly that the product has anti-aging benefits and is free from alcohol, sulphates and parabens. Apart from the peptides that act skin conditioning, Allantonin and Tocopherol (Vitamin E) are great for preventing skin aging. They help with elasticity and regeneration of the skin. Olibanum and Rosa Damascena Flower Oil add to make the skin feel smooth and conditioned.

Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule

FGF and EGF

Let’s also talk more in-depth about the peptides FGF and EGF first: These two are the key ingredients of the Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule. What are these two and what do they actually do for our skin? EGF is the short-term for Epidermal Growth Factor. In the ingredients list you will find it as oligopeptide-1. The EGF targets specific receptors in the cell (EGFR) and is the necessary molecule for this receptor in order to work. From the name you can already tell that it promotes the cell growth, so it is important for our body, since dying and growing cells are a regular process in our body.

Short excursus: It is important to note the difference between the receptor and the EGF: EGF is not carcenogenic! Mutations in cells can cause overexpression of the EGFR for example, which means we have too many of these receptors in our cells, which can lead to uncontrolled growth of cells, means cancer. Other proteins can put the EGFR in a permanent on-state, which leads to uncontrolled growth of cells aswell.

FGF is the short-term for Fibroblast Growth Factor and this peptide plays a role in wound healing of the skin. The FGFs play an important role for the so-called Fibrobasts. Fibroblasts are cells that produce collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin.

So do peptides like EGF or FGF have anti-aging properties? Since the growth factors should address wrinkles in first place it has to affect the collagen production somehow in order to be beneficial for our skin. When EGF is applied with a cream it has to be absorbed into the dermis, the inner layer of the skin, to have any effect, and only a very, very small amount of topically applied EGF will be able to reach the dermis at all. And even if it helps to produce collagen it does not have any effect on the degradation of the old collagen. In conclusion we can say that the peptides may be responsible for a plumping effect of the outer skin layer, but it will not have any effect on the inner skin layer and therefore will not reduce deep wrinkles.

Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule

The Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule comes in a beautiful golden cardboard packaging with a lot of description and information available. The box can be opened up sideways, so you can take a look at the ampoule bottle directly upon first opening. The bottle is golden-colored like the cardboard box and comes with a dropper. I was surprised to see how light the bottle is, because it is made from plastic. Yet because of the golden color it doesn’t look cheap, but makes a valuable appearance.

Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule

The ampoule itself can be taken out with help of the dropper and has a milky color and a light rose/flower scent. The consistency is runny, but not as runny as water.

Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule

The Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave a trace or stickiness behind. It doesn’t feel oily either, but leaves the skin fresh and soft. Upon touch the skin feels smooth and nice. I used the ampoule in combination with the Swanicoco Bio Ferment F Fermentation Snail Care Skintoner and Emulsion and added a moisturizer on top for my whole skincare. The amount of moisture provided was enough for my dry skin type. I didn’t feel any reactions from the product on my skin either, but this varies of course from person to person.

Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule

I think that Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule R can be a nice add-on to your skincare. Although the effect of EGF and FGF on deeper skin layers is not very likely, they will at least act topically and make your skin feel smoother and elastic. I really like the short ingredients list and the lightweight packaging. If you are interested in a similar product containing EGF and FGF, but without Vitamin E I can advise you to take a look at my review of the Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop.

You can also find Swanicoco products at Beautytap (formerly W2Beauty). The Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule retails for 53 US$. This week you can use the code SWAN30 to get 30% off Swanicoco products. And on the 10th of January the FGF and EGF Ampoule with higher concentration of 10ppm are on sale as special deal for 41US$!

Review: Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact Black

29. September 2017

// PR SAMPLE / KBEAUTY / MAKEUP //

I love cushions! At first I never thought that I would be using cushions too often and now I’m neglecting all my other BB/CC creams/foundations in tubes for my easy-to-use cushion foundations/bb creams. Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact is not the first cushion I tried, but yet, after having it used to its end I can definitely say that it has been one of my favourites!

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

First of all, Swanicoco is a Korean brand that stared off its business by creating naturally fermented soaps. Now, they have a huge range of products including skincare and make up products, but still all the products share the same believe in natural ingredients excluding artificial and chemical components.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact is a multifunction make up product combined with ingredients which are beneficial for the skin. It also contains fermented ingredients and various fruit and plant-based ingredients. Also, the cushion has SPF30/ PA ++ and gives some sun protection, too. Usually, despite the sun protection stated on cushions or foundations I would still advise you to use regular sunscreen below your makeup. The layer of makeup you apply is usually very thin and that results in a weak sun protection – if at all.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

The ingredients are listed on the cardboard box, but only in Korean. Here are the ingredients in English:

Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate, Titanium Dioxide, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butylene Glycol, Octocrylene, Water, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Dimethicone, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Diisopropyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Arbutin, Glycerin, Bees wax, Sodium Chloride, Sorbitan Olivate, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, CI 77492, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Caprylyl Glycol, Dimethicone/Vinyldimethicone Crosspolymer, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, CI 77491, Mica, Aluminum Hydroxide, Propylene Carbonate, Pentylene Glycol, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract, CI 77499, Allantoin, Glyceriyl Caprylate, Hexandiol, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Adenosine, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Glyceryl Laurate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Polyglutamic Acid, Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Perilla Ocymoides Seed Oil, Tropolone, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Ethyl Ascorbyl Ether, Cordyceps militaris Extract

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

I always love the details of the cardboard boxes of Swanicoco products, with all those tiny symbols. Even the lash of the cardboard lid contains some of them.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

The Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact itself comes in a black cushion compact. It looks pretty much like all cushion pacts look like, with a application puff and a mirror inside the lid. The product is available in two shades, 21 and 23, I decided to go for 23 which usually suits my skin tone best.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

The difference to other cushions is the core of it: Unlike other cushions this one doesn’t have a make up soaked sponge inside, but a pressure plate with holes, that release a custom amount of the makeup by pressing it down.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

Above you see how it looks like before pressing down the plate and below you see how the make up is released through the holes.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

The Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact is designed for coverage. It is supposed to cover up freckles and darkness and can be used for troubled skin aswell. It has a formula with moisture balance, so it can be worn by oily skintypes, too. The formula is a creamy matte one containing moisture particles which make your skin glow. I would consider it a semi matte finish.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

The swatch looks a bit more yellowish than my skin tone, but after applying it to my skin below you can see that it looks very naturally like my own skin color. Actually, I’m probably the wrong person to judge this cushion in terms of coverage, because I don’t have much of a troubled skin thanks to my thorough skincare. Yet, my skin tends to have some redness around the nose and cheeks and in summer I have some freckles. The cushion manages to cover up the redness and my freckles very nicely. Also, it helps to reduce the appearance of my pores on my nose as you can see below. The picture before was taken after my regular skincare, by the way. Usually my skin does not glow that much :D But you can also see that finish after applying the cushion keeps the glow and even adds some sparkles here and there despite its semi matte finish. Also, it doesn’t get cakey throughout the day and looks like freshly applied for several hours before it starts to fade out.

Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact

All in all, I’m very happy with the Swanicoco Vita Triple Cover Swan CC Pact Black. I probably never used up a cushion that fast either and I’m really sad that it is already finished. Also, I think it doesn’t have any refills. At leat I couldn’t figure out how to remove the core part of the cushion pact. I saw refills for it as well, and it is available in two shades, 21 and 23. There is also another version of the cushion available in white. The retail price lies around 30 US$. I received this cushion for reviewing purpose from Swanicoco. I also reviewed the Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream and Swan Cream Butter Edition >>here<<.

Review: Swanicoco Swan Cream Butter Edition

4. April 2017

// PR SAMPLE / SKINCARE / AFFILIATE LINK //

Here is another review for the new Korean brand called Swanicoco. Previously, I reviewed their Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream, a light day-time cream and today I’ll review the Swanicoco Swan Cream Butter Edition, a rich and highly moisturizing butter.  This product was also part of the package that Swanicoco send to me, together with many additional products and samples! I’m still very thankful for that!:)

Swanicoco Swan Cream

First of all, Swanicoco is a Korean brand that stared off its business by creating naturally fermented soaps. Now, they have a huge range of products including skincare and make up products, but still all the products share the same believe in natural ingredients excluding artificial and chemical components. Swanicoco uses grains, fruits, herbs and oriental medicine materials as raw materials for their fermentation. By fermenting the products they can be much more easily absorbed into the skin, help retaining moisture and improve damaged skin. They state that instead of using purified water like in most exsiting cosmetics, Swanicoco has replaced the water with ferment filtrate. Additionally, pigments, synthetic perfumes, chemical preservatives, alcohol, mineral oil, paraben and benzophenones have been excluded from their products. Oh, and they are also free from animal testing!

Swanicoco Swan Cream

The brand name Swanicoco is derived from the word “swan” and the term “coco”. “Swan” referrs to the elegance and feminine aspects of the bird we probably all now. “Coco” refers to the coconut, representing the natural ingredients. In the logo of the brand you will find the word “natural”, which refers to the brand as being a natural cosmetics brand. There is also a peony blossom in the middle of the logo  that stands for richness and splendor.

Swanicoco Swan Cream

The Swanicoco Swan Cream has a beautiful and clean design. Everything comes in white with black font and ornaments and illustrations. This product even shows a very cute illustration of a swan. It is printed on the card board box and on top of the lid of the plastic jar. The cream also comes with a plastic spatula for taking out the cream without using your fingers. The Swanicoco Swan Cream comes with the sub title to be the highest moisturizer butter edition and is suited for very dry skin types.

Swanicoco Swan Cream

I translated the ingredients with help of Google Translate, so I hope there are not too many mistakes. The Swanicoco Swan Cream lists bamboo water, Shea Butter, and Camellia extract (Green Tea) as key ingredients, together with a patented ingredient called Moist 24™PH. Below you see the full ingredients list:

Bamboo water, Shea Butter (20%), butylene glycol, methyl methacrylate crosspolymer, horsehair root extract, purified water, glycerin, carbomer, 1,2-hexanediol, green tea extract, honey extract, camellia bark extracts, camellia leaf extract, betaine, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, argan oil, jojoba seed oil, tocopherol, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, glyceryl stearate, sorbitan stearate, olive oil, hydrolized milk protein, cetearyl alcohol, glyceryl oleate, Potassium hydroxide, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, Sedema Moist 24™PH, lavender oil, allantoin, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, arginine, caprylhydroxamic acid, propanediol

You can also check the ingredients via COSDNA. There are some ingredients that are labelled as potential acne triggers and irritants so please be sure to patch-test the product before using it. I also found some information about the Moist 24™PH. It says in the patent that Moist 24™PH is a “hydroglycolic extract of Imperata Cylindrica root”, providing the skin with “considerable hydration”. It is “used for dehydrated skin, make-up foundations and dry scalp treatment” and “creates water supplies and moisturises the epidermis for 24 hours.”

Swanicoco Swan Cream

The cream is a thickly textured butter that feels like silk, with a subtle scent. The jar is small and only contains 50 ml, but since the cream is very rich and nourishing only a small amount is needed on the skin.

Swanicoco Swan Cream

It melts when applying it to the skin by the temperature of our body. After rubbing it in it is fully absorbed by the skin with no trace of greasiness. The skin feels plump and bouncy, but there is no feeling of heaviness.

Swanicoco Swan Cream

I personally love creams with butter textures, especially for winter or for my night-time skincare. I love that feeling of waking up with fresh and bouncy skin that feels hydrated. I’ve been testing this cream during nights for the last two months alternating with the Banila Co. Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream and I didn’t experience any negative aspects or downsides of the Swanicoco Swan Cream Butter Edition.

You can get the cream here:

Review: Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream

19. March 2017

// PR SAMPLE / SKINCARE / AFFILIATE LINKS //

End of last year I was also contaced by another new Korean brand called Swanicoco. I wrote some emails with the company and I received such a detailed insight into the brand and their products which made me really fascinated. After they asked for my skin type I received a recommendation of what products would suit me best. The Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream I’m reviewing today is one of the products they send to me, together with so many additional products and samples that I was really amazed and thankful!

Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream

Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream

The brand name Swanicoco is derived from the word “swan” and the term “coco”. “Swan” referrs to the elegance and feminine aspects of the bird we probably all now. “Coco” refers to the coconut, representing the natural ingredients. In the logo of the brand you will find the word “natural”, which refers to the brand as being a natural cosmetics brand. There is also a peony blossom in the middle of the logo  that stands for richness and splendor.

Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream

The Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream is a moisturizing cream, perfectly suited for dry skin types, bringing elasticity and hydrate the skin. It contains yeast ferment filtrate instead of water, and Niacinamide, Glycerin, Panthnol and Shea Butter as moisturizing ingredients. It also contains Silk Amino Acids and Peptides to boost the skin with elasticity. You can check the ingredients via COSDNA and mostly they are safe to use and only few potential irritants have been labelled.

Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream

The Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream comes in a cardboard box. The cream is delivered in a tube containing 20 ml. I love it when moisturizers come in tubes. It is so much easier to squeeze them out and still be hygienic, without having to handle it with a spatula or spoon (Also, if the ingredients are prone to oxidization it keeps them better safe than jars do). Oh, and on the cardboard box you will also see the logo that I described earlier :D

Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream

What makes the Swanicoco Cream unique is its texture. It has a sticky texture remindig of spider web, which leads to long strands of cream if you squeeze it between your fingers. The reason for it is the peptide ingredient. On the skin it forms a protective shield and also gives back elasticity to your skin. Another thing is the flowery scent, which is really lovely and directly connects to the name. Although the cream can be used day and night I love using it during day-time. Despite being moisturizing I love that the finish of this cream is silky smooth. At first you might think that the cream has a dewy and slightly sticky finish. It gives the skin a moist and sparkling look – not greasy at all. After it absorbs fully the finish is satin-like, but still ou feel your skin has gained the necessary moisture it need during a regular day, also it feels more tight. There is still a tiny bit of tackyness left, but not of the unpleasant kind.

Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream

I espescially love that unique texture of the Swanicoco Flower Silk Cream. It has a lovely scent and contains nice ingredients, and if you don’t have a proer day-time moistuizer I can recommend you to try this one. It has a lovely scent contains nice and natural ingredients, plus it comes in a size that is realistic to be used up too. The only downside for me is the price that lies around 36 US$. I’ve been using this cream for 2 months now (alternating with another moisturizer during day time) and I didn’t experience any breakouts or problems at all. Still, each skin might react differently, so in case you will be tring out this cream, please to a patch test before starting to use it, just to be sure. You can also find Swanicoco products at W2Beauty.
