Review: Olivarrier Gentle Glow Seed Polishing Mask

I have a new brand to introduce to you: Olivarrier! You might have seen it in my Instagram popping up occasionally and finally I have some time to write up the reviews for it. I received a couple of products, courtesy of Olivarrier, and I will start of today with the Olivarrier Gentle Glow Seed Polishing Mask:

Olivarrier is a new Korean beauty brand focusing on the key ingredient in their product, which is olive squalane. The name is a mix of “olive” and “barrier”, since the olive squlanae in their skincare products is supposed to moisturize and penetrate the skin and helping to protect its natural moisture barrier.

Olive Squlane

What is olive squalane exactly? First of all, there is squalene and squalane. Squalene occurs widely within animals and plants, since it is part of the synthesis of sterols. It occurs in our sebum for example. But also in plant oils and in a high concentration it is also found in shark liver. Squalene is unsaturated and therefore it oxidizes easily. In order to prevent oxidization squalene is hydrogenated leading to saturated and stable squalane. Olive squalane is a animal friendly alternative of using squalane derived from sharks for example and has the same benefits for skin. Squalane is a great emollient, humectant and suited for sensitive skins by being non-irritating.

When I heard about the brand first time on Fiftly Shades of Snail I was attracted especially about the word “olive”, but also because of the simple and minimalistic design of the products. They have a beautiful skincare range that you can check out on their official web page (unfortunately, the last days it seems to be not available). It consists of a cleansing bar, a toner, and essence, two different creams, and the mask I’m showing you here.

Olivarrier Gentle Glow Seed Polishing Mask

Olivarrier Gentle Glow Seed Polishing Mask is a creamy mud/clay mask. Many mud masks tend to be drying, especially for sensitive and dry skintypes. This mask promises to clean your pores and still provide moisture to the skin. It contains Kaolin for mattifying the skin and Cranberry Seed Powder for a soft peeling effect while washing off the mask. So it is actually a 2-1 mask.

Let’s check out the other ingredients apart from olive squalane in this mask: apart from kaolin and squalane the product contains hyaluronic acid, panthenol, avocado oil, camellia oil and olive oil as moisturizing and skin conditioning ingredients. You can check the whole ingredients via COSDNA and it looks quite promising to me. It is free from parabens and phenoxyethanol, fragnance free, coloring agent free and dermatologically tested.

The Olivarrier Gentle Glow Seed Polishing Mask comes in a large plastic jar containing 75 g together with a plastic spatula to scoop out the product. The product is applied after washing and left for 10-15 minutes before it is washed off. The creamy texture applies and spreads smoothly on the skin. It doesn’t feel tingly or drying while leaving it and while washing it off the seeds are not harsh on the skin either. I observed that the skin feels clean and brightened. If you are curious how it looks like when applied on the face check out my short clip >>here<<.

I’ve been avoiding most mud/clay masks, but recently I started to use them more often. Actually it started with this mask, because I really do like how mild it is and yet it feels like it cleans your skin deeply and mattifies it visibly. I alkso love that it is a scrub on the same time. Another fact that I love is that it can also be used on your ellbows or knees and makes them feels softer afterwards. I’m definitely happy with this mask and despite the many masks I have I still grabbed this quite often compared to other masks...and that means something! You can buy this mask for example from RoseRoseShop for 15400Won (~15 US$).

  • Great review! Most clay masks are really drying, but this one sounds effective yet still gentle on the skin. Will add this to my wishlist now :D
