Review: Holika Holika Prime Miracle Snail Essence

Hello ♥
I will do a review for Holika Holika’s Prime Miracle Snail Essence today. It may be gross for some of you, that there is more and more products coming up containing snail slime. I received my first snail creme sample (from Missha) around a year ago and I really liked it a lot and I bought the full size cream from Missha as a present for my mum. I really want to try more and different snail slime products since then and that’s how we come to this product now: I bought a miniature of Holika Holika’s Prime Miracle Snail Essence and used it once to twice a day.

Here is the description from Holika Holika’s US web page. You can have a look at the full size bottle there, too.
Holika Holika Prime Miracle Snail Essence is a deep penetrating treatment that will restore a youthful look by minimizing the visible signs of aging. This potent, fast-absorbing formula delivers noticeable results including a reduced appearance in scars, wrinkles, and acne with the use of snail slime extract. The high concentration of snail slime extract in this essence produces higher cell regeneration and more effective results.

Directions: After cleansing and using toner, apply an appropriate amount all over face.

Benefits:
  • High Concentration
  • Wrinkle Care
  • Brightens
  • Acne Care
  • Moisturizes
The miniature has a nice, but simple packaging with swirly letters and a small snail pictured on it. It’s milky plastic, so you can see how much is left. The cap has a bright purple color. I guess the full size comes with a pump according to what I can see in the images. A pump would be at least great to control the amount of essence for each use. Since this is an essence you only need a little product.
The essence is clear, but not really watery. Because of the snail slime it’s more viscous and a bit sticky. It absorbs rather quickly nevertheless, but a slight stickiness is remaining. After applying moisturizer and BB cream and going off to work the stickiness disappeared slowly. The scent of the essence is surprisingly nice and soap-y, and not like one would imagine snail slime to smell :D if snail slime has a scent at all…XD
Now, I used this essence quite a while. Since this trial tube contains 5 ml and you really are not supposed to use much  of the essence each time, this tube is perfect for seeing the effects of the essence in a short period of time. I agree to the point that this product is giving you some additional moisture. Nevertheless I would recommend not to stop using your moisturizing cream, because the level of moisturizing is not the same as you have in a cream. A really liked about that essence that it didn’t give me any breakouts, and each time I thought I’ll get a pimple at some certain part of the face and I cleaned my face in the evening and used the essence, too, I didn’t get anything! So I can confirm that it does provide some kind of acne care. The stickiness of the essence confirms also, that it contains quite some amount of slime. At least I hope that this is a true claim Holika Holika has given for this product. I didn’t see any brightening effect, though. Wrinkle care is a bit tricky to evaluate, since you can’t remove wrinkles which already exist or make them go back. I only can say, that after my normal face routine in the evening, my skin looks plum and moisturized in the morning and fine lines appear less. But I can’t really say if it is just because of this essence or because of any moisturizing cream you put over night. And since I really don’t have a lot of wrinkles I cannot judge this point perfectly, either.
If you’ve been reading my blog before, you know that I did a review on Missha’s Time Revolution First Treatment Essence. I really liked Missha’s essence more, and even if it was just one sample I saw more instant effects. Holika Holika’s Prime Miracle Snail Essence costs US$ 48 for 45 ml on the official US web page or US$ 40.34 on W2Beauty. I think this is also really expensive for such a small amount of essence.
Missha’s Time Revolution First Treatment Essence costs US$ 53.67 for 150 ml at W2Beauty for example. Honestly, if I would by a full sized product and would have to choose between these two, I would go for Missha’s Essence. Also, I discovered a set on W2Beauty for the Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence 30ml + Time Revolution Night repair New Science Activator Ampoule 10ml for US$ 25.40 which I personally have listed on my wishlist and would like to try. If you use my link or sponsor code 088505 for W2Beauty you’ll get a 5 $ voucher upon registration.

  • I bought my first product containing snail slime last week and so far I like it. Am I the only one that likes the slimy texture? Haha am I a freak :P
I love essences and serums, I may try this out since I love the slimy texture lol.
    Thank you for the review!!

    • I don't dislike the slimy texture, but since a lot of people care about the stickiness I wrote it down. I just think that this essence is much to pricy compared to a really good essence like Misshas.:D
      Thanks for commenting ♥ (Don't worry, you're not a freak :D)

  • i saw this product at holika holika outlet, but it didn't caught my attention. -_-'
