Review: Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat Haircare

9. November 2016

Years ago I turned my back towards western haircare, because I made the experience that eastern haircare products made my hair simply more manageable. As time went by I occasionally came by the situation that some of my haircare products have been emptied before I could order any back-up. In these moments I needed to go to a local drugstore and check for their haircare products. For a while now Garnier introduced their Ultimate Blend series, where each haircare routine is dedicated to a key ingredient. I’ve been excited to try out the different versions since then(especially when the Ultimate Blends Honey were introduced). A while ago I was lucky to receive their latest addition to the Ultimate Blends series, the Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat haircare line

Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat

The Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat line is designed for people with sensitive scalp and fragile hair. It is enriched with protein-rich ingredients, like oat and rice. Oat milk is rich in antioxidants, and rice cream, which provides moisture. The formula soothes the feel of sensitive scalps and leaves hair feeling protected and irresistibly soft to the touch according to the description.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat

Oat is a protein rich and low-fat cereal. Oat milk helps to soothe and nourish the hair without making it feel heavy or greasy. Rice Cream is produced by grinding of small grain rice. It is said, that is has moisturizing and protective properties for the hair and it is protein rich, too.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat

Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat haircare consists of four products: the shampoo, the conditioner, a treatment and a heat protection spray. The products are free of paraben and contain natural extracts. The shampoo and the conditioner come in regular plastic squeeze bottles containing 250 and 200 ml, respectively. At first I had some problems with squeezing out the products because every time I tried I squeezed out too much of it. After a while I got a feeling for how to handle it.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat

The treatment comes in a jar containing 300 ml. I know that most hair treatments come in jars, but actually I would prefer a pump or a tube, which is easier to handle while showering.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat

The Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat has been tested by me for some weeks already. Actually, I already finished one bottle of shampoo and conditioner before receiving the products to test and I didn’t have any problems with them during the time.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat

The shampoo of the Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat has a liquid, light cream consistency.  It is a milky formula and you have to be careful while dispensing it (a pump would avoid this). You need a bit more product for it to lather up and build a nice foam, especially if you have long hair like me. The smell though is divine! It is the scent of sweet flowery milk, at least for me :D the conditioner and the treatment have the same scent. Both have thicker,  creamy formulations. Still the treatment is even creamier than the conditioner. I discovered that the conditioner alone doesn’t manage my frizzy and tangled hair. I need the treatment or a good hair oil to be able to detangle properly. But the shampoo and conditioner used on their own make my hair super lightweight and soft.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat

The Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat does a good job in providing nutrients and moisturizing the hair. I love the packaging design and the color combination of white and light pink and I adore the scent. For me, the conditioner doesn’t provide enough for detangling my frizzy hair. I need to use the treatment together with it. Still I love the fact that the formulation is free of parabens and contains natural extracts, yet it contains silicons. I personally do not have sensitive scalp, only dry hair, so I cannot say how it will work on someone else, but I personally didn’t have problems with this haircare line. The great thing is that you can get the Garnier Ultimate Blends for a few bucks from your local drugstore. Still, although I liked and like using it, it does not compete with my favorite haircare product from Shiseido.

Did you try the Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat products? What is your favourite haircare?

Review: Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Cooling Shampoo and Warming Treatment

29. August 2016

I love trying out asian hair products and I have some favorites in my list already. Still, I’m always on the look for new discoveries, so when Wishtrend asked me whether I wanted to try their new line of products from the brand Jungle Botanics I agreed directly. I received the Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Cooling Shampoo and Warming Treatment, but also the Jungle Botanics Natural Body Glow Nutshell Scrub, which will be reviewed in a separate post.

Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves

Jungle Botanics is a brand created by Wishtrend. According to its description it brings to you the vitality of the green jungle by combining advanced technologies  with natural ingredients. The Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Cooling Shampoo and Forest Leaves Warming Treatment is designed to cool down your heat irritated scalp and gives back moisture to dry and damaged hair.

Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves

The Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves hair care line consists of a shampoo and a treatment. Both come packed in a simple white cardboard box with a very soft imprint of jungle forest leaves. The tubes of this hair care line is beautifully designed with the same leaves, but this time in lovely green colors. It fits perfectly to the name of the brand.

Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves

The shampoo comes in a pump bottle containing 250 ml. It is designed to help with cooling the scalp and reduce itching of the scalp. Interestingly, the shampoo contains small menthyl beads which dissolve and have a cooling effect on your scalp. The scent of the shampoo was also a fresh mint scent which supports the cooling effect even more. I need two-three pumps for my long hair and it gives a nice foam, but it is not too rich or overly foaming. The hair feels clean after using it and give the hair more volume. It has an acidic formula, so it balances the pH of your hair (read Evelyns great post on why the pH of your hair care is important >>here<<).

Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves

After shampoo I always use the treatment, which makes the hair feel unbelievingly smooth and easy to comb! I love the treatment, especially if I leave it in my hair for a couple of minutes as suggested. The treatment has no mint scent, but a nice sweet-flowery scent instead. Although being so effectively softening and smoothing, the treatment doesn’t make the hair feel greasy or heavy, but still after using both shampoo and treatment my hair feels clean, and lightweight. The treatment contains pracaxi fruit and brazilian nuts, which are rich in anti-oxidants. But also Avocado oil, argan oil, camelia oil and many more, for keeping your hair nourished! The warming effect is described to open up the cuticle, so the nutrients can be absorbed by your hair, but I didn’t feel any significant warming effect. The treatment comes in a tube containing 200 ml.

Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves

The Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Cooling Shampoo and Forest Leaves Warming Treatment do not use silicon or phthalate, but a so-called Amazon Forest Complex. The ingredients of both the shampoo and the treatment are listed below:

Review: MapleHolistics Natural Beauty Products

14. October 2015

I’m so sorry for the being absent in the last couple of days…or weeks, but today I’m back with a new review! :) Actually, here are 3 reviews I will be discussing in this post, all of them dedicated to a couple of really awesome MapleHolistics Natural Beauty Products. It could be especially interesting for those of you looking for products with a short ingredients list consisting only on the necessary…and of course for all of you who love natural beauty products! Upon request by MapleHolistics I was allowed to choose products of interest and they were so kind to send me all the products I was interested in, which were a argan shampoo and conditioner and a vitamin C serum. They were so kind, that they even included a lip balm on top! Since I really do like all of the products and I’ve been testing them very thoroughly I can really recommend you to keep on reading and maybe also take a look at the range of products by MapleHolistics.

MapleHolistics Natural Beauty Products

MapleHolistics is a US based beauty company that has been around for the past few years. They develop and manufacture their own all natural cosmetics, which is also animal cruelty free, and focus mainly on shampoos and conditioners. Nevertheless, you will spot some skincare and bath and body products on their web page, too. I decided to do a review about the Argan Oil Shampoo and the Argan Oil Conditioner. Argan Oil is one of my favorite haircare ingredients, since it makes my hair less frizzy and manageable. I love the Argan oil products from Confume, for example and I’m using them almost daily. I also chose the Vitamin C Serum by MapleHolistics. I was drawn to this serum by the short and really good ingredients lists here. And last but not least I received a Acai Berry Lip Balm on top.

MapleHolistics Natural Beauty Products

I’ll start of with the Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner: MapleHolistics Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner is designed for men and women. It comes in a red plastic bottle with a simple design. Some illustrations on the label make it still look appealing. Since the bottle of the shampoo and the conditioner is both red, the difference of the two products lies in the color of the label, which is red/brownish for the shampoo and white in case of the conditioner. Also the consistency of the products is different: The shampoo is more runny and has a milky color whereas the conditioner is a white balm product. The scent of the Argan Oil Shampoo and the Conditioner is very subtle and not heavily perfumed at all. In order to dispense the shampoo you can press the cap. This kind of bottle is convenient if you are traveling.

MapleHolistics Natural Beauty Products

All the MapleHolistics Natural Beauty Products I received came with a information card. The card lists the effect of the key ingredients, but there is a full ingredients list on the label of the bottles, too. Here are the key ingredients of the shampoo as listed on the web page of MapleHolistics:

Argan: Also known as ‘Moroccan Oil’ and one of the rarest oils in the world, argan helps supply shine and a healthy look to hair with its abundance of vitamin E, carotene and essential fatty acids.

Peach Kernel: Contributes valuable regenerative and moisturizing properties, and is great for sensitive skin.

Jojoba: As it closely resembles sebum naturally produced by the scalp, jojoba is one of the skincare industry’s most favored ingredients and has a host of therapeutic properties.

Avocado: Enriches the formula with its high vitamin content, which includes vitamins A, B1, B2, D, and E.

Camellia Seed: Nourishes the complexion and helps condition the scalp, while providing healthy antioxidants to rejuvenate hair and scalp alike.

Almond: An excellent moisturizer, which is rich in proteins, olein glyceride, linoleic acid and vitamin D to help soothe dry and irritated areas on the scalp.

Botanical Keratin: Keratin is a family of fibrous structural proteins, which contribute to the composition of hair. As it is essential to hair’s formation, insufficient quantities of keratin may be a contributing factor to having frizzy and unmanageable hair. This naturally derived ingredient helps to replenish the ideal keratin content for strong, durable hair.

Honey and Vanilla: With their light and sweet fragrances, these ingredients enrich the formula for a balanced and soothing experience.

MapleHolistics Natural Beauty Products

The Argan Oil Conditioner has these key ingredients listed additionally, apart from Argan Oil and Jojoba Oil

Shea Butter and Green Tea: These helpful ingredients are fast-absorbing and commit moisturizing qualities to dry and delicate hair strands. Shea butter, in particular, contains vitamins A and E, making it an excellent natural moisturizer for the hair. It locks in moisture without leaving the hair greasy or heavy. Green tea contains epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which strengthens hair roots, activates hair follicles and promotes hair growth.

Pomegranate, Hibiscus and Sea Buckthorn: Certified blend assists in repairing damaged hair follicles to revitalize healthy, flowing hair. Pomegranate contains ellagic acid, which prevents the moisture in the hair from drying out. Hibiscus (“the flower of hair care”) helps prevent dryness, dullness, and hair damage. It also prevents problems like dandruff, split ends, and premature graying. Sea buckthorn, on the other hand, contains high levels of Omega 3, 6, 7, and 9, as well as vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K that promote healthy skin and hair.

Both products work great on my hair and although the Argan Oil Shampoo is sulphate free it leathers up really nicely and generates a soft foam. Furthermore my hair does not feel dry after using these two, which is my main concern with other sulphate free shampoos. The hair is shiny and I can comb it easily even while it is still wet. I definitively like this shampoo and conditioner and it is worth to have a look at it, if you are on the look for a sulphate free shampoo at the moment. The bottles contain 8 oz and retail for 12.97 US$ for the shampoo and 7.89 US$ for the conditioner. It is probably more expansive than a lot of drug store hair products, but after all I think it is worth it.

The next product I tried and really enjoyed using it the MapleHolistics Vitamin C Anti-Aging Serum. You know I love the O.S.T Vitamin C Serum and I repurchased it a couple of times already, but this one impressed me because of its mild formula and short ingredients list. If both versions of the O.S.T C20 Vitamin C serum are too strong for your skin I can recommend you to check out this Vitamin C Serum instead. Like all the Vitamin C serums I tried so far it comes in a brown glass bottle with a pipette attached to the cap. The liquid is almost clear with a slight yellowish tint. Unlike the Vitamin C serum from C20 this one doesn’t have the same watery texture, but a more serum-like, thicker texture which feels very soft upon applying it to the skin. Moreover, it has almost no scent. It absorbs fast without stickiness and works well with other products. Nevertheless, I always wait a couple of minutes after applying any vitamin C serum before I continue with the other skincare steps. The ingredients list is short and contains these ingredients:

Water, Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate), Vegetable Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, Vitamin E Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Ferulic Acid, Algae Extract, Pullulan Xanthan Gum, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Glyceryl Caprylate

So this serum contains not only Vitamin C, but also Vitamin A and E, plus hyaluronic acid and quite important Ferulic Acid to stabilize the Vitamin C. Really a lovely ingredient list! My skin didn’t react to this serum and I’ve been testing it for a month now. Definitively a very good serum! The bottle contains 30 ml and and retails for 11.77 US$ which is affordable compared to other Vitamin C serums.

MapleHolistics Natural Beauty Products

Lastly, here is my impression on the Acai Berry Natural Lip Balm by MapleHolistics. This is a solid, but simple lip balm consisting mainly of Shea butter, coconut oil, cocoa butter and sunflower seed oil. Vitamin E and Aloe leaf extract give some extra moisture and nutrition to your lips. It has a fruity-sweet scent reminding of berries and does a good job in hydrating the lips. Moreover, it comes in this bullet shape and is more hygienic than lip balms which come in containers where you have to use your finger. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find it in the shop, but this lip balm contains 4.25 g in total. It was really a nice surprise to receive this and I’m using it daily and I’m totally happy about it, too!

MapleHolistics Natural Beauty Products

Although I didn’t know MapleHolistics before I’m very pleased and positively surprised about the MApleHolistics Natural Beauty Products. I liked all three of them and I can recommend you to check out their products if you have the chance. There is also the possibility to check out http://www.mapleholistics.com/free-products/ in order to get your hand on a free product. Moreover, I wanted to point out that their blogger connection is being sponsored by edumuch.com. Last but not least, I hope you accept my apologies for my rare postings in the last days, but I promise there will be a bunch of new reviews within the next time. ♥

Review: Daeng Gi Meo Ri Look At Hair Loss True Shampoo

17. August 2015

The BNTnews beauty box for August came with another Daeng Gi Meo Ri Shampoo to try: Daeng Gi Meo Ri Look At Hair Loss True Shampoo. This shampoo targeting hair protection and scalp care would not be that kind of shampoo I would select personally for my dry hair, but nevertheless, I was willing to give it a try.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Look At Hair Loss True Shampoo

The name of the brand and product sound very long and complicated to someone with no Korean language knowledge, but the brand name Daeng Gi Meo Ri can be translated in this way:Daenggi is a traditional Korean ribbon which is tied to the braided hair of unmarried Korean women. Meori means simply hair in Korean. I reviewed the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Ja Dam Hwa The First Scalp and Hair Cleansing Treatment and the Oriental Special Shampoo before, and like the previous products this Korean shampoo works on your hair by using oriental medicine inspired ingredient, like traditionally used herbs, roots and flowers. In contrast to the previously reviewed products, the design of the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Look At Hair Loss True Shampoo is much more simple and modern. A pitty, since I love the super elegant and pretty design of the other two products. The Daeng Gi Meo Ri Look At Hair Loss True Shampoo comes in a pale blue bottle and looks almost medical. The 500 ml bottle doesn’t come with a pump either, but a regular opening.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Look At Hair Loss True Shampoo

Since Daeng Gi Meo Ri is not well known outside of Korea it is hard to get more informationa about the ingredients of this shampoo. But I can tell you about the details I know: The Daeng Gi Meo Ri Look At Hair Loss True Shampoo is supposed to deliver energy and vitality to hair and scalp through Chinese Medicine issued ingredients such as white ginseng, cynanchum, coix, Russian iris and pomegranate. It moisturizes dry scalp with aloe extracts and avocado oil, plus leaves a refreshing feeling with menthol. It creates a creamy foam while lathering it up, which is generated by natural surfactants used. These help to eliminate wastes on scalp, too. Most important, the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Look At Hair Loss True Shampoo doesn’t contain silicones. The shampoo is dermatologically tested and Korean FDA approved. According to the description on the bottle it is suited for oily scalp types…Wait! Oily scalp? When I read about the point that it is suited for oily scalp types I was worried that this shampoo will not be suited for me. My scalp is normal, but my hair is dry and frizzy, espcially in the ends. In advance I used a hair treatment on my end after using the shampoo. I discovered the shampoo foams up nicely and has a pleasant creamy scent, which is not ginseng-y like the other two Daeg Gi Meo Ri products I tried. My hair didn’t feel dry while washing it neither. Moreover, it has a cooling feeling on my scalp, probably due to the menthol. My hair was also managable after washing and I could comb through it without any problems of tangled hair. I discovered though, that when my hair has dried down I kind of have the feeling that the hair is weightened down, especially near my scalp. After one day the top hair looks greasy already and I have to wash the hair again. Usually, my hair looks that way after two days, if it looks that greasy at all.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Look At Hair Loss True Shampoo

I don’t know if the heavyness of the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Look At Hair Loss True Shampoo is due to the point that my hair has gotten used to the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo, which is making my hair feel drier, or if it is the richness of the shampoo itself. Although it states that it contains aloe extracts and avocado oil it still is recommened for oily scalp types, so I doubt it is too rich after all. Since I don’t have any hair loss yet (luckily) I cannot discuss that point, but I like the fact that it doesn’t contain any silicon and the cooling effect it has on the scalp. The scent is pleasant, too, and the foam feels nice and creamy on my hair…I hope my hair will adjust to that shampoo, because I would love to use it for a longer time and see if it works for me. Yet, compared to the Oriental Special Shampoo I like the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Look At Hair Loss True Shampoo better. The retail price should be similar to the Oriental Shampoo, but I couldn’t find it online available, yet.

Review: Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo

28. July 2015

// HAIRCARE / PR SAMPLE / KBEAUTY //

The BNTnews beauty box for July contained another shampoo from the Korean brand Daeng Gi Meo Ri, which I introduced to you in one of my previous reviews. This review will be about the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo, a softening and protecting shampoo full of oriental medicine inspired ingredients.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo

The name of the brand and product sound very long and complicated to someone with no Korean language knowledge, but the brand name Daeng Gi Meo Ri can be translated in this way: Daenggi is a traditional Korean ribbon which is tied to the braided hair of unmarried Korean women. Meori means simply hair in Korean. Like the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Ja Dam Hwa The First Scalp and Hair Cleansing Treatment this Korean shampoo works on your hair by using oriental medicine inspired ingredient, like traditionally used herbs, roots, and flowers.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo

The Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo comes as a 500 ml pump bottle along with a 145 ml travel sized bottle in a kit. Both bottles are packed in a cardboard box with a lot of Korean description all over. On the backside the most important facts are listed and it displays an image of some herbs at the top, too.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo

According to the description it contains more than 35% of ripe and enriched medicinal ingredients as well as a patented substance extracted from Giant Crinum Lily (Crinum asiaticum). The Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo is full of vitamins and minerals, and it uses marine phyto-complex to protect the scalp with green algae (Caulerpa racemosa) extracts, antioxidative chlorella (a single cell green algae) and deeply moisturizes with fermented Pseudoalteromonas (marine bacterium). Moreover, it contains Tripterygium wilfordii root, false daisy (Eclipta prostrata) and hazelnut extracts for energizing and vitalizing tired and dry scalps. Furthermore, it contains keratin and camelia to treat damaged scalp from within and reinforce its elasticity. It uses natural surfactant so it does not irritate. You can find some more Korean description >>here<<.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo

taken from http://doorimall.net

I also found the picture above there and it lists the 15 herbs used for the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo. Apart from some of the ingredients already mentioned above I could detect these ingredients (hopefully correctly translated with help of google translate): gujeolcho (Siberian chrysanthemum), ginseng (Panax ginseng), Chinese arborvitae (Platycladus orientalis), Mulberry (Morus), Rehmannia glutinosa, Siberian ginseng (acanthopanax), lotus, bamboo, and pigweed (Portulaca oleracea). Apart from all these oriental ingredients let’s take a moment to take a closer look at the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo packaging design. I think the bottles look super pretty. I love the ornaments around the pump, which is the stopper for the pump in the same time. All the golden and dark green color makes it look super luxurious already.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo

I love how it comes with a smaller bottle in travel size! But now, let’s get into the real review for the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo. First, what makes it special? On the one hand it is the ingredients of course, which gives it the name, but on the other hand, what I personally found very special was the recommendation to wash twice with this shampoo and to not use any other hair products during treatment. I have dry, frizzy and naturally wavy/curly hair, so usually I’m always using conditioner with any shampoo I use and moreover I’m using hair treatments, hair oil or entangling mists/serums every other day, too. My scalp is not dry, nor do I have any problems with an itchy scalp. For dry scalp, it is even recommended to use this shampoo in the morning and evening for a short period of time. I’m washing my hair almost every day, if not every second at least. For two weeks I have been using the shampoo as advised. I washed my hair twice with the shampoo and didn’t use any other hair products. The shampoo has a brown color and a herbal scent (mostly ginseng-ish). It foams up very nicely already after the first washing and one pump was enough for my long hair. Nevertheless, the natural cause of this was, that my hair became super dry and frizzy already after one usage. The hair didn’t feel soft and smooth like when using my regular shampoo and conditioner, nor was it easy to comb. I was struggling a lot with that, but I kept using the shampoo as recommended. After one week I felt that my upper hair felt smoother after washing once dried. The hair around my scalp looked more shiny, too, but the length of my hair and the ends continued to be very dry and tangled.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo

My conclusion considering the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo is, that I cannot use it on its own. I love what it makes which my upper hair and the way the hair near my scalp feels, but it is too drying for the long ends of my naturally dry hair structure. If you have dry hair and would like to try this shampoo on your own I would recommend you to use a hair pack on your ends nevertheless. That’s the way I’m using this shampoo now and it works much better for my hair. People with oily/normal hair or people with shorter hair might love the shampoo as it is. I love that it comes in a pump bottle and that it contains so many plant-derived ingredients and I love that it makes my hair partially more soft and shiny, but I would rather prefer a shampoo which also provides enough moisture for long and dry hair. The Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Special Shampoo retails for 25500 Won from www.doorimall.net. The kit is available on Amazon.com for 37.99 US$. I tried another Korean herbal shampoo before, the Damoae Therapy Shampoo, which was supposed to be used in a similar way. But in contrast to the Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Spacial Shampoo, it came with a tonic to use after washing, which helped to comb my hair. Also, the Damoae Therapy Shampoo felt like a conditioner when used for the second wash, and if you like herbal shampoos and have dry hair I can definitively recommend you the Damoae Shampoo instead.

Review: Daeng Gi Meo Ri Ja Dam Hwa The First

10. July 2015

I love the ingredients used in traditional asian medicine, like ginseng or ginger, so when I received Daeng Gi Meo Ri Ja Dam Hwa The First Scalp and Hair Cleansing Treatment with my BNTnews beauty box in June I was very excited to try it. I previously saw an episode of Get it Beauty, where they pointed out the importance of also using scalp treatment along with your regular hair care and though I never heard of that approach before I was willing to give it a try.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Ja Dam Hwa The First

The name of the brand and product sound very long and complicated to someone with no Korean language knowledge, but the brand name Daeng Gi Meo Ri can be translated in this way: Daenggi is a traditional Korean ribbon which is tied to the braided hair of unmarried Korean women. Meori means simply hair in Korean. Daeng Gi Meo Ri Ja Dam Hwa The First is a multi-function product that washes scalp and boosts hair’s vitality by using traditional Korean medicine inspired ingredients.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Ja Dam Hwa The First

First thing to notice is the beautiful packaging! The cardboard box and the tube containing the treatment shampoo are both very luxuriously ornamented with an oriental flower pattern in red and golden colors. I love the design! The cardboard box also contains a lot of Korean description, so if you speak and read Korean you’ll find a lot of information there (click below to enlarge).

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Ja Dam Hwa The First

Since the shampoo is oriental medicine-inspired it contains ingredients like white ginseng and ginger and the patented formula containing crinum lily extracts provides tired scalp and hair with energy, strength, and beauty. Moreover, silk extracts from golden cocoons and proteins protect the hair while reinforcing firmness and glow. It also contains a real herb complex made of green tea, camomile, sage, calendula and henna to moisturize the hair deeply. The foam created by the natural surfactant softly helps eliminate wastes on scalp, too, which is why this is not only a shampoo, but a scalp treatment, too. The tube contains 250 ml of the red coloured shampoo-treatment, which has a flowery/herbal scent. It is described as a subtle wild flower fragrance. The Daeng Gi Meo Ri Ja Dam Hwa The First also creates a nice foam while lathering it up in your hair and I really enjoyed the scent while using the shampoo. Unfortunately, it doesn’t provide my hair with enough moisture in order to make it shiny. After only using this shampoo-treatment on its own my hair feels pretty dry and tangled. I tried to keep using it on its own hoping my hair will get used to it, but I discovered that I simply cannot use this product without using a conditioner or deep hair treatment afterwards.

Daeng Gi Meo Ri Ja Dam Hwa The First

In conclusion I must say that this product doesn’t suit my hair. It makes it too dry and tangled and I have used other products that suit better. I even could not figure out where to buy it online or how much it retails, but according to other hair products from this brand it must be around 20 US$. If you want to try an oriental medicine inspired shampoo that really worked for me check out my review on Damoe Therapy Treatment Shampoo. It really made my hair soft and shiny and I had the feeling my fine hair felt more firm and fuller! Other than that I still prefer using the Shiseido Tsubaki line as my daily hair care.

Review: Boutique Bebe Hair Salon Concentrate Protein

11. May 2015

Do you know that moment during online shopping when you put all the items you need in your shopping basket and discover that there are some last dollars missing for free shipping? Usually that is the moment when I grab some mask sheets but on other occasions I also try new items, like the Boutique Hair Salon Protein Concentrate. These are two protein hair treatments, one for leaving in your hair and one for washing it out.

Boutique Bebe Hair Salon Concentrate Protein

I discovered that asian hair products really work for my fine, dry and frizzy hair. Therefore I’m always interested in different brands and items I find during my shopping experiences. I got these Boutique Bebe Hair Salon Concentrate Protein treatments from Wishtrend quite a while ago, but somehow the review took me quite long. If you are curious about the Korean online shop Wishtrend please check out my post >>here<<.

Boutique Bebe Hair Salon Concentrate Protein

About the Korean brand Boutique Bebe I do not have much information, but obviously they are retailling some haircare products. Since the brand is not very popular the description on the product’s cardboard box is written in Korean only.

Boutique Bebe Hair Salon Concentrate Protein

As I said at the beginning, these hair treatments are available in two types, a wash-off type, which has a white packaging, and an essence type (can be lefton the hair), which comes in a black packaging. Each of the two cardboard boxes contains a plastic seringe (also either black or transparent) with the hair treatment product. The plastic seringe is bottle and applicator of the hair treatment on the same time. You will find a long description about these two products on Wishtrend, too. They also list the ingredients of the treatments, which contains mainly oils like camellia japonica oil, argan oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, etc., so all the important and nutritious oil you can use on your hair. Apart from these oils there are a bunch of plant extracts included (lavender, rosemary, olive, grape, peppermint, rice, soybean….and many more). Other good ingredients for your hair are biotin, keratin and niacinamide, which you can also spot within the ingredients. So it seems that these are super beneficiual for dry and damaged hair.

Boutique Bebe Hair Salon Concentrate Protein

The two treatments also differ in the product. The essence-type leave-in hair treatment has a white color, where as the wash-off treatment has a yellow color. Both treatments have a creamy and rich consistency and are not runny or anything similar. Each seringe contains 25 g and depending on your hair length you can use one seringe for 2-5 times. I used both of them three times each for my (a bit over) shoulder length hair, but I used quite a good amount of product each time. I guess I could have used each of these 4 times at least if I would have taken a bit less product each time. Due to the seringe packaging it is easy to get a specific amount of the product on your hair or in your palm. I really liked that kind of packaging. First it was something new to me and second it was useful to use aswell.

Boutique Bebe Hair Salon Concentrate Protein

The Boutique Bebe Hair Salon Concentrate Protein have a soapy scent, which had a typical salon scent for me. The leave-in essence was super easy to use, since you only put it into your hair and it is done. I would recommend you to use it in the length of your hairs mainly, because otherwhise you’ll have a kind of stiff-looking scalp/top hair. The essence first makes your hair feel stiffer after it dries off, but once brushing the dried hair through the hair feels soft and it is not that stiff anymore. The wash-off treatment makes the hair fluffier than the leave-in treatment, simply, because the essence doesn’t stay on your hair. The leave-in essence treatment makes our hair a bit more heavy. Both treatments leave your hair super soft, easiler to brush and are nourished! I can imagine to repurchase these treatments, since I liked the scent and the softness of my hair afterwards. Also, the ingredients are great in both treatments. These Boutique Bebe Hair Salon Concentrate Protein retail for 3.50 US$ each, and when buying both you only pay 6.20 US$ on Wishtrend. Check out the May promotions on Wishtrend before grabbing those. There are also some mother’s day special prices and gifts until 17th of May.  Also, keep in mind their friend-referral program: You can receive a 5 Us$ referral coupon if you use my invitation code 17939205 upon registration and you’ll receive this voucher immediately. There will be a specific field in your registration form called “friends invitation program” where you can put the code mentioned above. This way new customers can safe 5 US$ which is a great possibility to safe some money. And if you have a blog/vlog yourself you should check out Wishtrend’s affiliate program!

Graveyard: January and February Empties 2015

28. February 2015

I tried to use up as much as possible, before I by new products in 2015, and for the first two months I did a good efford in also emptying my sample stash. Here are my product empties for January and February and a quick impression on each product. As usual, I didn’t include any sample sachets or masks.

January and February Empties 2015

Frizz Ease Shampoo & Conditioner for curly hair- Repurchase? Maybe.

I used and liked the fullsize of this in the past quite often (these are travelsized tubes), but atm I’m in love with my Shiseido Tsubaki Shampoo, that I don’t want to go back to any western brands :D Within the western drug store brands these are still my favourites.

Iope Super Vital VIP kit- Repurchase? No.

I used up the complete items of this kit and I’m really proud I did without changing to another line inbetween. You can find my review of this highly nourishing and moisturizing line >>here<<.

Secret Key Snow White Cream- Repurchase? Yes.

I loved using this. It gave a nice finish to the face and it smells great! The packaging is very pretty, too! Read my review >>here<<.

Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Repair Eye Cream- Repurchase? Maybe.

I used this eyecream during daytime because I think it is not moisturizing enough to be used at nights. I like the size of this eyecream and the fact that it is really affordable and can be used up in a realistic period. I could imagine repurchasing it, but I would rather try other eye creams first :D Find my review >>here<< .

SXM I Value Body Amoule- Repurchase? No.

This was part of the MeMeBox Diet Box and I was really curious about this ampoule. You take some drops and put it to the desired regions of your body. I could feel the skin being somehow tightened while applying but it did not show any longterm effects for me.

Shiseido Benefiance NutriPerfect Day Cream- Repurchase? No…sigh

This creamy cream is rich in its consistency and hydrates skin nicely. It also contains SPF 15. I enjoyed trying out this tiny tube, but since it is an expensive brand I don’t think that I’ll be repurchasing.

Welcos Confume Argan Treatment Hair Ampoule- Repurchase? YES!

I’m in healthier-hair-heaven since I bought Confume Argan Oil and Confume Treatment Hair Ampoule! My hair has been frizzy and dry since forever, but these products are amazing! This is the first of 5 tiny bottles and I love it! This indeep hair treatment doesn’t need to be rinsed out. It is mixed by a bit water and turns milky and warmer….can be used on wet and dry hair…I will buy more definitively! and I’ll be doing a review for both the argan oil and the treatment soon!

Only you Green Tea Jasmin Moisturizing Body Lotion- Repurchase? No.

I think this was a gift and came together with a shower gel. The scent was really nice. The bodylotion took a bit longer to absorb, though.

Lancome La Vie Et Belle shower Gel- Repurchse? No.

This was a gift with an order. I like the scent, but other than that there is nothing special about this shower gel.

Kneipp Almond Blossom Oil- Repurchse? Yes.

I used up the fullsized bottle of this last year and I loved it and this tiny version is no exception. The scent is soooo nice and it makes the skin feel very soft.

L’Occitane Karite Handcream -Repurchase? I would love to.

This is a rich and nourishing hand cream with a nice scent. There is nothing negative to say about this and I would love to try more handcream from L’Occitane.

Kerasys Moringa Miracle Essence- Repurchase? Yes!

A very nice smelling and softening hair essence which I loved to use. It is not as super effective as the Confume Argan oil, but it is nice for everyday use without making your hair greasy!

January and February Empties 2015

Do you know any of these and did you try them yourself? What is your opinion on these products I showed above? I’d be happy about your comments ♥

Review: Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic ♥sponsored♥

27. May 2014

Have you herad about the Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic hair treatment available at Wishtrend? I discovered there was a video on their Youtube channel and when I was asked if I would like to try this, I was more than curious. I have very frizzy and dry hair which is naturally curled. It was damaged quite a lot when I decided to cut it back and re-grow it with more care, and this shampoo did help me, surprisingly! I didn’t expect it to be a magical potion for beautiful hair, but it did some respectable job, as you will see at the end of the post. Keep reading if you are interested :)

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

Damoae is a Korean brand available at Wishtrend. It comes in a medical designed packaging and the ingredients are based on plants mostly. The Therapy Shampoo and Tonic are designed for hairloss and dandruff prevention. I personally don’t have any problems with hairloss yet, but it is proven that not only men will loose their hair with growing age, but also women will feel their hair becoming thinner and weaker. I never had the strongest hair, but my main concern has always been the lack of shininess. Because of my natural curls my hair is mostly dry. I started using hair oils, which help a great deal already. The Damoae Therapy Kit, consisting of the shampoo and the tonic have a sleek simple packaging. I’ll start of with the Shampoo first:

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

The shampoo comes in a pump bottle made of sturdy plastic. Although having a simple packaging, the quality is really good, as well the cardbox packaging and the pump bottle don’t appear to be easily broken. The cardboard box unfortunately contains only Korean description, but on Wishtrend you’ll find a very detailled description and an advertising video. The shampoo is KFDA and FDA (US) approved and the formula was patented and clinically prooven. The description on Wishtrend says:

What is DAMOAE? Damoae is made of natural Chinese medicinal herbs that can be ingested, and there for is not harmful to the body. This product is patent proven to increase hair count as well as effectively treat dandruff and has been approved by the KFDA as a hair loss prevention product that increases hair growth and thickness.

Damoae consists of 17 natural herbs used in Chinese medicine, including dried orange peels, aloe, and peppermint. These ingredients work together to perform the most ideal medical action on the scalp to prevent hair loss and treat dandruff at the same time.

By continuously using Damoae, you can see improvement in the following areas: hair loss, dandruff, scalp itchiness, seborrheic dermatitis, damaged hair, and more! You’re scalp will feel clean and your hair will feel luxuriously thick and smooth!

It also says, that no conditioner is needed, since the shampoo contains natural conditioning agents. Instead you should wash your hair twice with the Shampoo.

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

When you receive the pump bottle, it is securely locked, so there won’t leak out any product during transportation. Once you turn the pump dispenser, it is unlocked and can be used like any other pump. The bottle contains 300 g. The production date and the expiration date are printed on the backside of the pump bottle.

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

The shampoo has a transparent yellow color and the amount which is dispensed with one pump has the size of a small coin. It looks like it is not a lot, but it is definitively enough if you double wash your hair. I discovered that it hardly lathers the first time I wash my hair, but the second time I wash my hair it lathers up really nicely. The scent is a citrus/ herbal scent and might be not everybody’s liking, but it is somehow refreshing. I also had the feeling that it felt cooling on my scalp, which would be somehow logical if the shampoo aims at soothing your scalp and vitalizing your heads skin.

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

After washing while my hair is still wet it doesn’t feel super soft, like it would feel when using a silicone based conditioner, nevertheless it is easily to comb through.

The second product of the hair treatment is a tonic. The packaging is similar to the shampoo, but the bottle is a bit smaller than the bottle for the shampoo.  It contains 150 ml.

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

Also here the packaging only contains Korean description, but detailled description is written on Wishtrend webpage.

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

In contrast to the shampoo, the tonic essence comes in a bottle with a turnable spraying nozzle. It is protected by a clear plastic cap. You are supposed to spray it on your scalp after washing your hair and massage it on your scalp with your fingers.

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

The tonic looks like water and has a clear consistency. The scent is the same as the shampoo.

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

According to COSDNA all the ingredients of the shampoo are either labelled with a yellow or a green flag and the products consist of a lot of plant ingredients. The same goes for the tonic. Except of the tonic contains Salicylic acid, which gets a red flag in COSDNA, but salicylic acid also has benefits for acne preventation and it will probably be beneficial if your scalp is suffering from acne or red spots.

Now, let’s get to the main part: how was the effect of the Damoae Therapy Hair Treatment Kit on my hair? I used it for about a month and below I will show you the pictures of my hair before starting the treatment and afterwards. Except of the two products showed above I only used hair oil in my length.

Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic

The images speak for themselves, don’t they? My hair is definitively more shiny and it feels better and stronger. When using the tonic the hair feels more volumized at the roots. My bf used the shampoo, too, and it made the same discoveries about the feel of the hair.

I’m totally loving this hair treatment and I can recommend to give it a try. The only downside of it is the price, which is pretty expensive compared to drug store shampoos- although the bottle really lasts quite some time, since the pump dispenser prevents you from using excessive amounts. So it lasts quite long. You can get Damoae Therapy Shampoo and Tonic from Wishtrend. If you use my invitation code 17939205 upon registration or use my invitation link >>here<< you’ll receive a 5 US$ voucher immediately.  The tonic costs 38.99 US$, the shampoo costs 34.99 US$, but there is a kit containing both for 66.58 US$ on Wishtrend. Another point is, that Wishtrend has a free shipping zone with products, which can be obtained for free international shipping, e.g. Klair’s Illuminating Supple Blemish Balm I reviewed previously.

What is your favourite hair treatment? Do you have any Shampoo you’re in love with and that helped you a lot with the condition of your hair?

Review: Etude House Silk Scarf Damage 2x Hair Pack and Hair Serum

24. February 2014
Today I went to the hair saloon and cut my hair…I cut off 30 cm of my hair, because it was so damaged that I think it is the best way to regrow healthy hair. But before I decided to cut my hair I still believed in rescuing it somehow, and in one of my desperate attempts I bought also two hair masks from Etude House called Etude House Silk Scarf Damage 2x Hair Pack and Serum.
All in all four different masks from this range are available. You can buy either the Camellia, the Jojoba, the Argan Seed or the Avaocado hair mask. They are recommended for different grades of nutrition, marked by level 1-4. I bought level 3 Argan Seed Pack and level 4 Avocado pack, since my hair was really dry and damaged. Each of these packs consists of two steps. The first step ist the hair pack, which you apply in your wet hair after washing, leave it in for some minutes and wash it out. The second step is the serum, which you can put into your wet or dry hair and don’t have to wash it out.
The packaging of both masks is super cute and typical for Etude House. The back contains the description in English and Korean. The amount in both sachets is enough for one treatment of long hair. If you have short hair you can probably use it two times. Both, the pack and the serum are milky lotion type fluids.
I didn’t take any before and after pictures so you have to believe my words :D First, both packs made my hair smooth after applying and made it easy to comb through my hair while they were still wet. I applied the serum to my wet hair in both cases and the serum makes them even smoother. The feeling of the hair after using the packs was definitively nice than before. I also recognised a boost in the shininess of my hair, especially with the Avocado mask. The shiny effects of the Avocado mask appeared stronger to me and the smoothness condition of my hair did also.  The scent of both hair treatments was pleasant and lingered on the hair for quite some time. They both didn’t have a special scent, it was just a typical hair pack scent :D
These packs have a nice packaging and give an extra boost of shine to your hair. They make them feel smooth after application but they are definitively not “THE” hair treatment solving all your problems. I could imagine re-buying the Avocado treatment, but probably I’ll try out other hair masks before.
You can these packs at W2Beauty for US$ 4.59 each.
