Review: Pony x Memebox Eyeshadow Palette

24. December 2014

Just in time for the launch of the 2nd Pony x Memebox collaboration I will present you my review on their first collaboration, the Pony x Memebox Eyeshadow Palette. I knew that I needed this palette the first time I saw it on the Korean Memebox page. I really love the tutorials from the Korean Youtuber Pony and I can really recommend you to check out her Youtube videos :)

MeMeBox is a box service company, offering a wide amount of different beauty boxes. Unlike most western beauty boxes which have to be subscribed for on a monthly basis, MeMeBoxes can be preordered but that doesn’t force you to buy more than the desired box. They ship to many countries and the products they send in their boxes are mainly Korean. Apart from their monthly Global Boxes, they also have a huge amount of themed boxes,MiniBoxes, Boxes where you know what is inside, so called Superboxes with a higher value and so on (check out the links at the end of the post)…just check out their online store and you’ll find a huge selection of different boxes. Since they have become very popular within the blogger community they sell out pretty fast, but they bring up new beauty boxes so fast, that you cannot keep up with them anyways. That was at least my experience during this year. At the end of this post I will make a list of all the discounts they offer at the moment, too. At the moment they seem to be focusing on their own brand and some collaborations with well-known blogger in the asian beauty blogger community. One of their most famous collaboration is with the Korean Youtuber Pony, also known for her collaborations with Innisfree and Etude House. Her collaboration with Memebox resulted in two eyeshadow palettes, the second one just launched yesterday. Here, I will show you my impression of the first eyeshadow palette:

Pony x Memebox Eyeshadow Palette

The Pony x Memebox eyeshadow palette comes in a cardboard packaging and has the size of a smartphone and is only slightly thicker than one. I would say it is a sleek packaging in simple black color with white font. The cardboard box contains descriptions of the product in Korean. It displays the name of the eyeshadows of the palette on the backside, too.

The backside of the palette itself also shows the expiration date and lists the names of the eyeshadow colors. The material of the palette is a matte plastic. It opens and closes nicely and makes the appearance of not easily flipping open, which means it can be carried around without big fears.

Openening the palette reveals 8 eyeshadow colors, two brushes and a clear plastic sheet for separating the eyeshadows from the mirror in the lid. The mirror fills the whole lid and is large and therefore useful. The plastic sheet also has the names of the eyeshadow colors printed on.

Four of the colors are matte and the other four colors are shimmery. I like that point a lot, because usually most asian eyeshadows are shimmery :D The brushes have a bistle side and a normal eyeshadow sponge applicator side. Actually I didn’t use them, because I had the feeling that these brushes cause more fall-off than my usual eyeshadow brushes.

Below, I prepared the swatches for the 8 colors on my arm. The difference between the four matte eyeshadows and the shimmery eyeshadows are quite obvious. I actually love all the shades, especially the shine rosegold shade.

You’ll find an quick eye make-up using the shimmery eyeshadows shine rosegold, shine gold and glam cocao. Sorry, I’m not the best makeup artsit for eyeshadow looks but I tried my best XD

The staying power is okay. It is even better when using an eye primer /eyeshadow base. I observed some fall-off when not using primer/base before. The colors are neutral and I think that everybody should have a couple of colors they love in this palette. The Pony x Memebox eyeshadow palette retails for 18 US$ on MeMeBox. As I said earlier, yesterday the second Pony x Memebox eyeshadow palette launched, which retails for 20 US$. There is a bundle for both palettes for 29 US$, which I think, is a perfect deal. They also have varoius other deals. If you are interested you might want to check out all offers >>here<<. Take advantage of the 5US$ coupon code you find below.

Wow you managed to make your eyes look so shiny! The shine eyeshadows don’t look shiny at all on my eyes :(. This is the only eyeshadow palette I brought on holiday with me! Lovely review, merry Christmas and a happy new year!

That’s strange, that they don’t look shiny on your eyes :/ I was impressed how shiny/metallic they were. I’m wishing you a merry Christmas, too, and I hope to read a lot of awesome reviews from you in the new year :* ♥

Pretty/natural eye look! I like the look of the shimmery shades in this palette better, which is probably why I ended up caving and ordering Pony Palette #2 after all! :)

I saw your swatches on the second palette and although you pointed out that two shades are similar with the shades from the first palette I’m still undecided wether to buy the palette or not :D Maybe I’ll wait for January and their new announcements for 2015 :D

I’ve seen this palette around for a short while now and the shades really are stunning! I however would prefer the second palette! Love the neutral shades!

I’m still not sure if I will buy the second palette or not..I’m not wearing eyeshadow daily, so it is really hard for me to decide atm :D

Ack, I saw the palette on testerkorea and wanted to have it but I guess not for now since I have lots of brown shades, probably later :D

As expected from Korean fav, shimmery and not too pigmented eyeshadows and it looks lovely on you :)
Thank you for the review :)

    Merry Christmas to you :)

Thank you Mizu ♥ I saw the palette on testerkorea, too, but I had some storecredit on Memebox, which is why I ended up buying it from them. The neutral shades look really nice, but if you have enough brown shades I think you can skip on that palette for now. The second one has some more colorful shades (purple etc.)….

I quickly picked up the deal they had with the new palette and a few of their I’M makeup collection. I think they’re great for the price and the shades are just perfect for everyday <3 For some reason, they look so much better in your swatch picture that in real life haha. Can't wait to have the second palette in my hands :)

It largely depends on the brush you use, at least that is what I discovered. I couldn’t get any nice swatches with the included brushes….I’m still undecided for the second palette, because I don’t use eyeshadow daily…but on the other hand I love the pony videos so much…..

This looks so good! I don’t know why but when memebox first brought out their first cosmetics I really wasn’t excited at all – but after trying their hydrogel mask (amazing) and seeing all these lovely reviews of the pony palate – I want everything!!!

I didn’t try any of the other collaboration products or the Memebox masks…but if the hydromask is such a great thing I would love to try it. Thanks for commenting ♥

Up until now I am going back and forth whether to get pony’s palette or not >.<
Since i'm not using eyeshadow on regular basis, I'm afraid if I buy this one, it will be just the same. XD
But i am really tempted to get one of the two!

I’m not using eyeshadows often either…that’s why I’m not decided to buy the second palette…I simply had to buy this one because of the name (XD) and the matte shades, because I only have shimmery eyeshadows other than this.
