Review: Etude House Hot Style Hair Tools Bangs Cut Kit

8. September 2013
Hey ♥
How is your weekend? Did you already join my new giveaway? It has gotten cold and rainy in Germany again, I guess this is officially the end of summer :( On the other hand, this means I’ve more time to spent at home trying different things, which brings me to my latest review:
I love wearing bangs! But, there is always one point driving me insane: You go to the hairdresser, get your new haircut and some bangs and after two weeks your hair has grown again and you’ll need to cut the bangs again. I’m honest, I’m really too lazy to go to the hairdresser often. More than once I took my scissors and just cut the bands shorter by myself. This sounds so easy, but it’s really hard to make it look alright and especially straight >_< So when I saw Etude House Hot Style Hair Tools Bangs Cut Kit I had simply to order and to try it.
The packaging is typical for Etude House, in pink colors and very girly. ♥ Here is the product description by Etude House:
This kit containing a hair clip and a pair of scissors to easily accomplish salon-quality trimmed bangs at home.
[Direction]
1. Place the clip near roots of hair where you wish to trim, and keep it horizontally leveled with the equipped checker.
2. Slide the clip down along bangs, leaving desired cutting length.
3. Cut carefully with a pair of scissors.
[Cautions]
1. Use only as directed.

2. Keep out of reach of children.

The description is written in Korean and English on the backside of the packaging, containing also some images, how to do the steps.
This set contains two objects: the hair clipper and a pair of scissors. Below you see the pictures of the hair clipper with the integrated water level. This helps you to adjust the clipper horizontally to your hair. I love this part, because it really helps a lot to get straight bangs. The color of the clipper is of course pink ;) The material of the clipper is plastic. It is a sturdy material and it won’t get easily damaged. Only the lock makes me a bit worried while closing and reopening because I fear I might break it (which didn’t happen so far XD).
The scissors have a pink hold and one side of the scissor is normal straight cutting, the other side cuts fringes. In this way you are able to cut your bangs in a natural looking way. I love that they didn’t put a normal scissors, but this kind of scissors instead.
I tried this kit some times now and it really works to keep your bangs tidy and straight. It is easy to use and definitively easier than cutting the bangs ‘blindly’ by yourself. Nevertheless I have to remark that the scissors are not the highest quality scissors. You need to cut several times the same part to really cut all the hair away. But on the other hand it makes your hair get a natural fringe-y look. Considering the prize for this set I’d say the quality is adequate and you can’t expect to get saloon-like scissors. I’m happy with this kit so far and it makes my life easier :)
I bought my kit from testerkorea for 8000 Won (shipping depends on the weight).

    • Fräulein Schnee 9. September 2013 at 13:40

I know these kind of waterlevel from home tool’s too and I was surprised how great the idea is, to use it for bang cutting :D Probably you can also cut sidebangs with this :D but I didn’t try it XD

I have always thought this product is useless really and expensive
I can get the same scissor for $2 and use my fingers ._. (Cheapskate perspective lol)

If you are talented to do it with your fingers it is great..I tried that before, too, but I was always dissapointed how uneven it was. :)

The little strawberry rating is so cute! This look interesting, I have hair cutting shears that I use to just dust my ends and get any splitting hairs I don’t think I have the skill to cut any more than that lol.

thank you! I was totally excited when I cut my bangs the first time by myself…but in the end it is only hair and it will grow back sometime, haha…

Interesting idea! I’ve seen seen scissors like that before, but the level thing is new to me. :) I always trim my bangs at home with normal hair scissors but I wouldn’t say they always come out even. :/

    • Fräulein Schnee 9. September 2013 at 13:44

I did this with normal scissors before as well, but I was always a bit dissapointed XD While using this kit it looked far better than my normal skills XD

  • Yheasama 8. September 2013 at 23:34

I had never see this before, love the level thing xD!

    • Fräulein Schnee 9. September 2013 at 13:44

I love it too, it is a great idea to think of something like this to prevent uneven bangs :D

  • ♥Richelle♥ 3. April 2014 at 9:36

How to keep bangs that are rounded? please help

  • Fräulein Schnee 21. April 2014 at 1:13

What do you mean exactly by rounded? If you have some hair cutting skills in general I think that you can somehow use these to cut every band youi like. I only tried straght bangs or sided bands so far which worked out pretty fine.

  • Jamie Shears 1. May 2015 at 2:32

I never would of thought there is a product like this for bangs only. I think we are on the same page though, I’m to lazy to keep going back to get the hair done all over again and usually just trim it my self :P

    Sorry it was so rainy.
