Review: Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher

11. August 2015

// AFFILIATE LINKS / KBEAUTY / BLUSH //

I would lie if I told you I was not influenced by media when I’m buying my beauty products. For Korean beauty products it is mostly other blogs, or the Korean Beauty Show “Get It Beauty”. The Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher was selected earlier this year by the Get It Beauty Blind Test as best pink blush. I’ve been eyeing the Etude House Cookie Blusher for a long time before already, but I thought it will be a regular drugstore blush with a cute packaging only. After it became #1 in the blind test I decided that it is finally time to try it!

Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher

Etude House is one of the best known Korean brands for cute packaging. If you are a lover of cute, girly and pink packaging, reminding you of being a child and the princess you always dreamt to be, THIS is your brand. Their packaging is usually so adoreable that you cannot keep yourself from impuls-buys – only because you saw the packaging…The Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher has exactly this cute, girly packaging which makes your heart beat. The name already sounds like something deliciously cute and then there comes the blush in this simple pink container, but below the milky plastic lid you see a cute puff with a pink ribbon!

Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher

Currently 5 different shades are available for the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher, but the one shade that won the blind test was #11 “Peach Choux Wafers”. This is the shade I bought after all, a lovely natural beige pink color for a natural blush on my cheecks. You can check out all the shades currently available on the official Etude House page, too. The volume of the blush is 7.2 g, and since it is a powder pressed blush I guess this will last for ages.

Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher

The description of the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher says, that this blush comes with a blur effect. The ‘unique powder reflects shine to various ways to express bright skin color and delivers excellent application and delicate vivid colors’. The blush is long lasting, too. By using sebum control powder the sebum of the skin is absorbed and the blush stays longer. Moreover the fluffy cushion type puff helps to blend and build up the blush as desired. First, I didn’t use the puff at all. It was just a gimmick for me, making this item so cute. But then I started to use it and I must say that is not too bad. It really takes up the powder, but does not take too much, so you won’t be overdoing it. Shade #11 is a light color anyways and is supposed to be natural on the cheecks, but still you can build up the color. This shade doesn’t have any shimmer or glittering particles in it, but it is completelly matte and a great all day blush.

Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher

I don’t know why I didn’t try the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher earlier! The shades available are nice and this shade especially really looks lovely, probably on most skintones. Moreover the blusher is very affordable. On the official site it retails for 7.80 US$. I bought my Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher on W2Beauty for 8.23 US$, which is a good price, considering the low shipping costs compared to Etude House official shop. For those living in the US you might want to check out the prices on Amazon, too. Did you try the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher already? Which is your favourite shade?

Review: BeautySweeties Fruit Jelly

10. August 2015

I love sweets, but when thinking of sweets I usually do not crosslink it to beauty, since usually eating too many sweets turns out to be the complete opposite of beautifying yourself. BeautySweeties Fruit Jelly is supposed to be a compromise, since it is made from natural ingredients and contains collagen, coenzym 10 and aloe vera to beautify ourselves from within while eating sweets :D

BeautySweeties Fruit Jelly

BeautySweeties was not know to me until I received the BeautySweeties Fruit Jelly Bears for reviewing purpose by the German drugstore dm. BeautySweeties uses traditional confectionary recipes to produce their sweets and selects natural ingredients in combination with of super-fruits and the beauty-ingredients coenzyme Q10, aloe vera, collagen or biotin. The fruit jelly bears I show you here are gluten-free, fat-free, lactose-free, without artificial aroma, without preservatives, and without articifial colors. The BeautySweeties Fruit Jelly Bears contain 20 % fruit juice, 6% fruit bits, coenzyme Q10, aloe vera and collagen.

BeautySweeties Fruit Jelly

Each bag of BeautySweeties Fruit Jelly Bears contains 6 different kinds of fruit jelly bears, which have their own taste each: lemon, raspberry, strawberry, pear, orange and peach. When I opened up the bag the fruity scent was the first to notice. The fruit jelly bears are soft in their texture and they contain bits of fruits inside, when you look closely.

BeautySweeties Fruit Jelly

The taste of the different fruits was clearly recognizeable and though all sweets and also the fruit jelly here is made of sugar it tastes more like juice and is not overly sweet. I could not help myself and ate all the BeautySweeties Fruit Jelly Bears at once. The taste was really delicious!

BeautySweeties Fruit Jelly

Of course, despite the fact that it is the first time I encountered beautifying sweets, I have to point out that this doesn’t mean that you are eating something healthy. This is still a sweet and contains sugars. Nevertheless, the idea to eat sweets which contain beneficial ingredients is really nice and the quality of the BeautySweeties Fruit Jelly Bears was nice, too. The taste was not overly sweet, but really fruity, and the scent was not artificial but like real fruit juice. BeautySweeties and their concept of a “Lifestyle Confectionary” is definitively interesting, and an alternative for those of you you have a bad conscience after eating the regular fruit gummie bears. BeautySweeties are available in many countries and you can take a look at their official site for more details.

Review: Missha Honey Butter Pack

8. August 2015

I do not know what it is, but every time I see ‘honey’ on some product I really want to try it. It is no secret that the Korean trend ingredients in the last winters were either honey, donkey/goat milk or mayu, which help the skin to get that glow-y look that so many Korean celebrities present us. The Missha Honey Butter Pack lurks us with these promises exactly: Korean acacia honey and French gourmet butter are supposed to “deliver moisture and give the skin the radiance, promoting a beautiful beautiful glowing complexion.”

Missha Honey Butter Pack

Missha is one of the worldwide famous Korean brands, especially their Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream is one of the most famous BB creams. They have a lot of online stores all over the world and are available in US/Canada, Australia and since some time they even opened up an online store for Germany, and a physical store in Ingolstadt in Germany! The products always come in a very luxurious looking packaging and the design is usually very mature and elegant and I think that it can be liked by almost everyone. The Missha Honey Butter Pack comes in a yellow tube with a pretty illustration on the front displaying butter coated with honey. The top of the tube displays the word Gourmet in golden letters and it looks really pretty.

Missha Honey Butter Pack

The first time I saw the Missha Honey Butter Pack I was attracted mainly by the packaging, because it is really cute and unusual for Missha products. The second thought was that I wanted to compare it to the I’m from Honey Mask, which I love really a lot. Since I received the Missha Honey Butter Pack from Missha Germany the backside of the tube is labelled with a sticker showing the German description and the ingredients. I tried to remove the label, but it is kind of sticky, so I left it as it is. The original backside seems to contain Korean description only, anyways. The shelf-life of the Missha Honey Butter Pack is 12 month after opening and it contains 120 g of product. The key functions of the Missha Honey Butter Pack are: Moisturizing by using Korean Acacia honey and french gourmet butter extract, brightening using potato extract enriched with vitamins and nourishing by the easily absorbed texture.

Missha Honey Butter Pack

You can find the ingredients on COSDNA, too, and the first thing I noticed was, that it contains coconut oil and grape seed oil. Honey and butter extracts are quite at the bottom of the list, which doesn’t give any indication on the amount used in the whole product, though, when having a look at the product and a first sniff if doesn’t smell like honey at all. The scent is nice, but it smells of coconut cream. Not the usual coconut scent, but really more like the coconut cream you use for cooking. The texture is a creamy/buttery one. Spread it even reminds me more of butter, but the spreadable kind. I can detect a sweet, but light honey scent once the cream is spread, but in thicker layer it smells more like coconut cream.

Missha Honey Butter Pack

According to the description you have to use the Missha Honey Butter Pack after cleansing and toning. You apply a layer of the pack and wait for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. The thicker you’ll put the layer the longer you will have to wash your face, since the oils (coconut oil) leave a heavy residue. And it is important to use lukewarm/warm water, since with cold water you won’t be able to remove it properly. Once removed the skin feels noticeably softer, but it is not as glowy as when using the I’m from Honey Mask. The removing of the product is also more bothersome than the I’m from Honey Mask. In the description of the product on the Missha Germany webpage it suggests to use a tiny amount of the Missha Honey Butter Pack as sleeping mask. For using it as a mask regularly I discover to be a bit too lazy when thinking about washing it off for such a long time, but when you only use a very little amount (so much it still can blend into the skin) as sleeping mask overnight works great!

Missha Honey Butter Pack

First of all, the Missha Honey Butter Pack won’t substitute my I’m from Honey Mask. Considering the very affordable price of the Miisha Honey Butter Pack I was hoping for that, but the I’m from Honey Mask really give me that glowy, hydrated look and has this amazing honey scent. The Missha Honey Butter Pack is a good pack though, and it softens the skin after using it, but it takes some effort to be removed, otherwise it will leave residue on your skin and I think that this will lead to clogged pores and reactions especially for sensitive skintypes. If you wash it off properly nothing happens off course. Also, I suppose that everybody has to find the right amount of product to use. I discovered using a thin layer as sleeping mask works great for me. Maybe I should also try different thickness of the Missha Honey Butter Pack as wash off pack. The price of the Missha Honey Butter Pack is awesome and it retails for only 8.90 € from the German Missha store (6 US$ from Missha US!)…and of course, last but not least: I love the design of the tube :D

Btw.: Missha Germany also deliveres outside Germany. So if you are somewhere in Europe it might be faster to consider ordering from them instead of Korea. My package arrived after 2 days, which is awesome when thinking about the 2-4 weeks of waiting when ordering from Korea :D Take a glance at their webpage, instagram, and facebook and support the spreading of Korean cosmetics within Europe! Also, Missha is one of the Korean bands which are against animal testing!

Holiday Season Outfits with Choies

12. December 2013
December is the month were I have a lot of occasions to wear festive clothes. It starts with all those Christmas parties and it ends with New Year’s Eve at the end of the year. I love going shopping at this time of the year because you never can have enough variety for all these occasions *^_^*
Today, I was browsing through Choies, an online shop for clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories with free internationall regular shipping. While browsing I found some nice combination items which I wanted to share with you and ask your opinion about these outfits.
http://www.choies.com/

The first outfit is the cuter version of a christmas outfit I would wear. Let’s have a look:
  1. bow skater dress with contrast collar
  2. black roll brim felt boater with cat ear
  3. celebona mask pendant necklace
  4. I love black and white popcorn bucket bag
I think red is the perfect color for Christmas and I love the cuteness of this dress which is stressed by the color and the bows. Also, since it has long sleeves it seems not to be to freezing cold for those living in countries having winter season at the moment. :D I have to admit that I fell in love with those cat-ear hats. They are so lovely, and also a black hat gives a nice contrast to the red dress. I’m a big fan of cute necklaces and bags. The long necklace with the venecian mask charm looks probably good with the dress. The popcorn bucket shaped bag was one of my highlights I discovered on Choies. I never saw a bag like this! It’s awesome *_*
The second combination would be for a New Year’s Eve party.
  1. black bodycon dress with leather cut out
  2. transparent acrylic hard box bag
  3. retro exaggerated rivets necklace
  4. patent platform court shoes
You never go wrong with black dresses. they are so versatile, because you can use any other accesoires on them and suddely you create a new look. I combined this black dress with a spiky nacklace. I have a similar necklace, and I love wearing it together with a black dress. Black high heels are also very festive and fit all time. You can never go wrong with such shoes either. Last but not least, again a bag which I totally love, the see-through handbag. I love the idea of this bag and I’ve seen it several times already.
So, what do you think? Which outfit do you like more? and which items are your favourite items out of my selection?
Who does already know Choies, btw? what were your experiences? I saw, that they have an intersting option to apply for  some selected items. You can try your luck and get an item for free in their “free-trial-center“, which sounds interesting I guess.

Review: Innisfree Color Glow Lipstick Plum Burgundy ♥sponsored♥

26. November 2013
Today’s review is about Innisfree Color Glow Lipstick in shade No.5 called ‘Plum Burgundy‘. Burgundy is one of the most raved about colors for this years autumn and I was really curious about Innisfree’s Color Glow Lipstick after I saw that they offered two different Burgundy shades for their Color Glow Lipstick Line. They offer a range of 10 different shades by the way and it was really difficult to decide on only one, even for the two burgundy shades I could not decide which one I liked more. I ended up with ‘Plum Burgundy’ because it looked more on the red toned side on the promo pictures. Actually, I imagined the color different, but I love this lipstick anyway. Keep reading if you want to know about the details :)

This lipstick was send to me by twofacemall for reviewing purpose. Below you see the description which was written on the box. It is mainly in Korean, but the important points are descriped by the images and keywords on one side of the package:
The packaging itself is clean and simple as it is typical for Innisfree. The box is from recycled paper and printed on with soy ink. I like there design, although it is simple, but I think the white lipstick looks very elegant.
The lipstick itself contains 3.5 g. Since this lipstick is very moisturizing, it can imagine that it is easily breakable. I think this is also the reason for the metal supporting thing around the lipstick. You can wind it up more, if you want, nevertheless.
The color of the lipstick was hard for me to get with my camera. It is a burgundy red shade, as the name also said. Nevertheless, the shade is more on the pink side and not that dark as I thought it would be. Nevertheless, it looks really nice on the lips. Below you can see the swatch of the lipstick on my hand and the lipstick applied on my lips.
The color payoff is really nice though and as you can see on the swatches this lipstick is really far from drying up your lips. It gives them such a nice glossy finish (without being sticky like lip gloss, hehe). Everybody with dry lips who has been afraid of wearing lipsticks because they could be too drying or make the lips look even drier should give Innisfree Color Glow Lipstick a try. Since this is my first Innisfree lipstick, I don’t know if the other lipsticks they provide are similar nor do I know if they are better or worse. I think I will try some more of their lipsticks, probably also from this line.
I really like this lipstick and I like the color, although I thought that it would be a darker shade. The staying power is normal, but the smoothness on the lips and the moist feeling are really nice.
As I mentioned above, I received this from twofacemall and you can get it from their shop for US$18.00. They offer free worldwide shipping, too, and they give samples with every order.
